  • Spearfishing Cape Town can be challenging. Especially, when spearfishing from shore. I landed this 41-centimetre butterfish to create this catch-and-cook video. This is my very first catch-and-cook video, and I hope that you enjoy it
We headed to Cape Point always looking for the Cape Yellowtail. However, the Cape Town winter conditions prevailed, bringing along cold waters. This means that yellowtail is hard to come by. So we shifted your focus to reef fish for this catch-and-cook episode. Spearfishing in about 10 meters of water, I came across this ledge holding a few different fish species. There was a red roman, jut jaw and a butterfish. The butterfish was the biggest size and I selected to take it for this catch-and-cook.
Spearfishing in Cape Town is a fun activity and can be shared with friends and family. On this spearfishing trip to Cape Point, I took my daughter with me so that she could observe and understand what it takes to hunt fish in Cape Town. My hope is that she will one day, hunt her own food and do her own catch-and-cook.
With a fish in the bag, I headed back to my place to hang the fish and dry age it overnight. Once dry aged the fish was ready to filleted and then smoked in my Weber. While the fish was being smoked, the rolls where baking in the oven.
I had fun while creating my very first catch-and-cook video. Cape Town spearfishing offers many adventures. Get out there.
    One love
    Nick
