@@B.D.E. No. There's 4K high refresh monitors coming out about every month. That's good. Also, OLED panels are cut from larger "sheets." Presumably, the larger the TVs, the less wasted materials. Eventually the OLED tech will be available at smaller sizes and at reasonable prices. Just remember a 55" LG OLED was literally $15,000 in 2013. So, they've come a long way.

0:16 The 55" and up models are brighter than the 42" and 48" models, because LG is limiting the brightness of the latter due to their higher pixel density.

Hey Nichols, to avoid the burn in , how often do we need to change the content ? If I play a certain game for few hrs like 3 to 4 hrs , then do I need to change to another game ? How about the HUD elements ? Will it cause burn in too ? While watching movies , do the subtitles causes burn in's ?
There's no specific amount of time. If you just use your TV normally, switch up the content every so often, and avoid displaying static content for very long periods of time, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. As for subtitles, they do put you at an increased risk of burn in since it's static content, but it isn't guaranteed to cause burn-in.
Simple. Don't test burn your oled to see what happens and you will be fine. If your leaving your oled on static content for 5-10 hours at a time not good

I just purchased a 77' C2 because of your review. Does RTINGS have a setup video for the C2 when it comes to all the picture modes and settings to apply for best possible picture?
I have a question. Would using a higher saturation around 75 or 80 create a higher risk of screen burn in or increased wear? Would it reduce the lifetime of pixels or is wear based mostly on the brightness of each pixel?
It's possible, but honestly without having our own data (obtained via a burn-in test matching this criteria), then it's impossible to say for sure. We also wouldn't want to speculate and risk misleading you. Sorry about that!

Yes, it’s an OLED, so there’s a risk of burn-in occuring. For what it’s worth though, we don’t expect burn in to be an issue for most users if they vary the content and don’t display continuous static images!
Hey Manny, we can confirm that Multi-View function is added in the C2 series, allowing you to choose between Picture-by-Picture (PbP) and Picture-in-Picture (PiP). So, if it's well received, it definitely could be something we start to see in more OLEDs!

Overall, The LG C2 OLED is only slightly better than the LG C1 OLED, although the performance of the two is quite similar. The C2 is a bit brighter, especially in SDR and when displaying small, bright highlights in HDR. The C2 has a slightly wider color gamut but worse tone mapping, so it doesn't respect the creator's intent as well. The C2 also has slightly improved smart features, including a new hands-free voice control feature, and the smart interface now supports user profiles, meaning you can customize the user experience to each member of your family. Hope this helps!

Hey Eddie, We don't have any current plans to buy and review this product. However, it's on our suggestion list, so if there's enough interest at any point, we'll happily buy and review it!
Can you give us an update if Sony has moved the bandwidth to 40 or 48gbps on ps5? Is important to know if we have to buy the C2 (48gbps) or can go with cheaper C1 or G1 which are only 40gbps and if could be enough for PS5 future firmware updates(12bit covarage) etc ..
As far as we know, it's still 40gbps but we really don't know for sure. If you want a bit more certainty, you could try reaching out to the manufacturer who will hopefully be able to offer more insight. Sorry we couldn't offer more certainty!
LG improved their own SOC to now cover the full bandwidth of 48gbps on C2 and G2. Nevertheless it is almost impossible to benefit from more than 40gbps because no tv out there has a 12bit panel ... and only 12bit is what makes these 48gbps necessary. Even if you use a powerful pc or a potential 12bit PS5 (which I very much doubt will happen) and use the full 48gbps ... the tv has to bring it down to 10bit again ... and you gained precisely nothing compared to 40gbps and 10bit transfer ... you even may have increased input lag slightly for the time the 12bit to 10bit conversion will take.
Unfortunately, there has been constant delays with the unit we purchased, we really were expecting to have received it by now. Once it finally gets delivered, we'll get it in the lab right away!
Can someone tell me the difference between all the C2? Like C21LA, C25LB, C22LB, C26LD(think this one was like 200€ more expensive than the rest aswell) really need help to understand
As far as we know, it’ll vary slightly for regional/retailer variants but performance should be the same. Without testing them all though, we can’t say for sure. If you’re looking for certainty, it’d be best to reach out to LG!
The 65" model we tested has a glossy finish, so we expect the 83" model to have a glossy finish as well (though we can't say for sure as we haven't tested it).
I have the Sony A80J. I'm almost ready to give up on OLED. HDR is useless because it's too dim. Sports is useless because it auto-dims 2-3 minutes in and becomes murky looking. Will I notice a real improvement in brightness with this TV? And is it true that LG only dims static images like graphics in sports whereas Sony dims the whole screen?
Hey Ryan! What you're seeing is likely the ASBL on the TV (which is causing the screen to dim). Sony OLEDs are the worst for ASBL. On LG TVs, you can adjust it, and even disable it completely from the service menu if that's something you're comfortable doing. So, the C2 is likely a better option for you!
It isn’t something we noticed with the unit we purchased, but we’d recommend reaching out to the manufacturer just in case. If it really bothers you though, then it may be best to just swap it out!
I see some categories got 9 scores and better than 35% of the TV tested and some categories get 7score but better than 80% of TV tested, I am kind confused
Hey there, Thanks for reaching out. We're happy to try and clear up some of your confusion, but it might help if you could provide us with specific examples. Thanks in advance for any additional information you can provide!
Only reason I had to buy the c2 is because 42 is the smallest oled sure wish they'd make smaller for us truck drivers or travelers. I should've just gotten a TCL or Visio, maybe I'll return it when I get it.
Some weird results here that do not line up with every other review i've seen. 6:06 HDTV Test said that the C2 has better gradients than the C1, especially at 4K 120Hz. 7:27 These response times look like they were taken without Boost mode enabled. Other tests have shown identical response times to the C1 with Game Optimiser + Boost. Maybe these are regional differences, like how the US version has more crushed blacks than the UK version, and it's a shame you don't test for this.
That definitely could be true, but unfortunately we don't currently measure gradients at 4k120hz. However, we understand this can be important to some users, so we're going to be looking at this in with our next test bench update. In the meantime though, we don't expect it to matter in all situations. In fact, we suspect it'll only matter on the transitions that have very very slight overshoot, as the response time will recover 4ms faster.... but only on those transitions. The ones that don't overshoot will likely be identical, so the difference in real content should basically be negligible.
bought it 1 day ago. Great clean screen but there is a faint vertical line in the center. a little disapointing bc i expected no dse at all. Well it is so much better than my ex tv sony xg9505. Oled is the best screen anyway. fair dark and clean as possible
It is supposed to have PIP/PBP but some users are reporting that the functionality of it is not good. We're doing our best to look into that ASAP, so hopefully we can offer some additional insight soon!
Hey Eric, We just double checked our unit and it seems like it hasn't cleared up fully. However, it's important to note that this is something that can vary between units. So, if you purchase the C2, your experience could be different than ours with the unit we purchased!
@@RTINGSdotcom Hello. Thank you for the reply! I actually already purchased a C2. I was just checking to make sure this was normal. When you check under 1% grey on your set, do you notice unevenness in the image. Some areas of the screen seem to be brighter than others at this range. It looks quite strange.
Are you gonna do a nits test on the C2 48' model since it apparently doesn't get as bright as the 55 inch and up (800-900 nits), but from the eye test alone it looks like it's brighter than the C1 55' models which were 600-700 nits. Is it in the 700-800 nits ball park ? I'm planning to buy one at that size since I'm gonna put it in the bedroom, so I was hoping you could clarify.
We don't have any plans to buy and review the 48" model unfortunately (we don't typically buy more than one size for any TV since we buy and review all the products we test ourselves). We did buy the 42'' and tested it as a monitor though, you can see our results here: www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/42-c2-oled
Why is reflections 9.2? This is clearly not as good as QN90B, which is 9.1 QN90B: ua-cam.com/video/G-cL50zkThQ/v-deo.html C2: ua-cam.com/video/KWWR1Qz0WRI/v-deo.html Comparing both image reflections side by side, I think QN90B handled it better. C2 is almost like a mirror.
Thanks for the good question! To try and clear things up, it's important to note that they score similarly but for different reasons. The C2 has worse direct reflection (mirror-like), but handles indirect reflections better. So if you have lots of lights directly opposite the TV the C2 looks worse, but if you're just in a bright room without anything shining directly on the screen the QN90B looks better. The QN90B also looks a bit worse as it has rainbow smearing caused by the ultra viewing angle filter. Hope that helps!
appreciate all the work and great reviews. Would you mind answering "what would be better" type of a question? I want to buy 83"-85" size .It will be placed in a room with really big windows facing west, hung on the wall facing south, so a lot of sun in the afternoon hitting the panel directly. I own an LG OLED that is 4-5 years old and I mostly use it in the evening watching movies/shows. However, kids are growing and I would like to use it during the day. My experience with OLEDs is that this is not the use case for them. I am confused, beacause in your other review of Samsung QN85B the reflection handling is rated much lower than for this OLED. What will work better during the day - a good reflection handler @ 400 nits (this TV) or a very bad reflection handler @900 nits (QN85B)? Cant go for QN95A as the blacks are really important to me.
You'd want to find a balance between good reflection handling and high peak brightness because both are important for using a TV in a bright room with lots of light. We started this custom table off for you: www.rtings.com/tv/tools/table/91877 Feel free to add and adjust the filters to you liking but hopefully it helps you narrow things down!

At that price point, if you're looking to go the more cost-efficient route, definitely go for the A90J. Just bought mine recently also. Do you feel that the whites are too blown out and over power the rest of the image sometimes? If so, how did you handle it? Btw, I also agree about movies on the TV. Awesome. Also Xbox series X looks amazing!
Would be nice to see an updated video on this considering most of the input lag differences between the C1 has been reduced with recent firmware updates. I believe the C2 even comes out on top now!

Is this TV a big jump from the C1?
Overall, The LG C2 OLED is only slightly better than the LG C1 OLED, although the performance of the two is quite similar. The C2 is a bit brighter, especially in SDR and when displaying small, bright highlights in HDR. The C2 has a slightly wider color gamut but worse tone mapping, so it doesn't respect the creator's intent as well. The C2 also has slightly improved smart features, including a new hands-free voice control feature, and the smart interface now supports user profiles, meaning you can customize the user experience to each member of your family. ps5?

The 65" model we tested has a glossy finish, so we expect the 83" model to have a glossy finish as well (though we can't say for sure as we haven't tested it).
@@RTINGSdotcom Thank you Rtings. I just checked with local LG, they said C2 83' is glossy coating. Just hope what they said is correct as well.

Get a big cell phone. Samsung cell phones are OLED (Super AMOLED)
Lg mixed panels
That definitely could be true, but unfortunately we don't currently measure gradients at 4k120hz. However, we understand this can be important to some users, so we're going to be looking at this in with our next test bench update. In the meantime though, we don't expect it to matter in all situations. In fact, we suspect it'll only matter on the transitions that have very very slight overshoot, as the response time will recover 4ms faster.... but only on those transitions. The ones that don't overshoot will likely be identical, so the difference in real content should basically be negligible.

We're actually in the process of reviewing smaller variants for the C2 so stay tuned 👀. We expect them to be similar though
Please which soundbar compliments the c2 in 77 inch?
Hey Glen,
These are what we consider to be the best soundbars we've tested! www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/best/soundbar :)
How bright is it in person ?
We're not sure what you mean by bright in person but you can see our brightness measurements here: www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c2-oled
:)
@@RTINGSdotcom I meant does the C2 pop with brightness in a dark room and moderate dark room ?
At the same price, which one is more worth buying, a90j 83 inches or g c2 83 inches? Which one is brighter?
A90j without question
Why is reflections 9.2? This is clearly not as good as QN90B, which is 9.1
QN90B: ua-cam.com/video/G-cL50zkThQ/v-deo.html
C2: ua-cam.com/video/KWWR1Qz0WRI/v-deo.html
Comparing both image reflections side by side, I think QN90B handled it better.
We started this custom table off for you: www.rtings.com/tv/tools/table/91877
Feel free to add and adjust the filters to you liking but hopefully it helps you narrow things down!
Have you guys tested the input lag with VRR enabled?
It's not a part of our current test methodology anymore, but we did for this one. 4k vrr input lag was 13ms. 1440p vrr was 13.3ms. Hope this helps!
@@RTINGSdotcom oh snap ok. Does the “boost”
Decrease that?
it's a known fact 42" and 48" c2 are not as bright as bigger models
Just bought it my first oled tv had a standard 4k samsung for 2 and a half years.Comes Tuesday can't wait too hook it up too my ps5 😁
Let us know what you think once you get it!
How is it? Thinking of doing the same
@@niallwagner6283 Brilliant best tv I've had games look superb
Hi rtings, really enjoy your reviews, i got a question, in my area , C1 is $5112 C2 is $6165 and A90J is $4360, all in 83". price is not like in US. so in this case should i just get the A90J since there is a massive price difference? I mainly use this tv for PS5 gaming/lite use for movies. thanks a lot !
At that price point, if you're looking to go the more cost-efficient route, definitely go for the A90J. At the end of the day, these are all excellent TVs so you shouldn't be disappointed either way, but that's a pretty substantial price difference and the cost likely isn't going to be worth it for most people!
@@RTINGSdotcom Thanks, yeah thats what i thought, LG's bigger sizes price are crazy in my area. and G2 83" is even worse, cost around 15Kusd. so i think i will go with A90j since new A95K does have 83"
@@Shaka826hello have u bought sony A90j or lg C2? How is ur experience so far?
@@Alfaris81 hey i went with A90j, great tv for gaming and movies.
