One quick correction: Charles Schwab's Index Target date fund has a net expense ratio of 0.08%. The gross expense ratio is higher.

is anyone else in their 20’s and binge watching her videos and planning for retirement?
oh yes! such a life changing state of being.
As being in 20's I would go all aggressive like an Index funds and a Roth. Keep track off all your retirement money, stocks, bonds, Roth, etc.
30s playing catch-up, good stuff
Yessssss
@@scottb_02 ugh, 40s here
I have been on UA-cam for over 6 years and I have never subscribed to anything until i saw your channel. This stuff is worth more than my first degree
WOW i'm honored - and THANK YOU! glad my channel is providing value :)
I’ve been managing my own portfolio recently and I can’t trust myself to not time the market, so I’m going to switch to a target date fund and just put money in and not bother with rebalancing or stressing about it anymore.
2065! I feel inspired to take my financial future into my own hands. Thanks for the videos!
Great job Rose! You are really doing a fantastic service for those who lack education in this area. This is one of the best UA-cam education video series I've seen on personal finance.
Your channel is changing my life. Thank you.
Finally someone that explains everything properly, truly for beginners. Thanks.
Your videos are so helpful! I created an account with Fidelity, Individual account, and IRA rollover. Now I am taking your 3 day training for the Target Date Funds. Thank you, you are so cool!
Hi Rose! Thank you for this informative breakdown of target date funds and navigating Fidelity's offerings! I am a complete novice with money management and was completely overwhelmed by the amount of info I didn't understand about my employer 401(k) account at Fidelity. I discovered that I am auto-enrolled in the Fidelity TFCW Retirement 2055 fund, which has 0.3% exp ratio. Just downloaded your free intro to investing course to learn more. Thank you for this video and your channel! I can't wait to watch more :)
2045. It’ll be here before I know it and it freaks me out honestly.
same, and i JUST started to pay attention to me, kinda freaking out to be honest.
That's close!
How old are you now?
Same for me.

Thanks so much Rose, I find all of your videos very helpful in understanding these topics, which are overwhelming at times, but you break things down incredibly. ❤
I haven't seen many videos of others, maybe 1 or 2 at most. But something about you just feels like you are the best out there. I trust your videos very much.
2040, retiring at 50 years old. Using Fidelity as my gap account. Love your helpful tips!
The way you explain things is perfect to understand. Thank you for your hard work.
You're a godsend. Your explanations on these investing concepts are legitimately saving me from analysis paralysis.
I like when you said, "Ain't nobody looking out for your --------" good videos keep the coming. They are really helping my wife and I.
Thanks Rose for the tutorial. Awesome stuff.
Thank you for this! I’m about to invest my 401k and didn’t understand much of this. Thank you ❤️
You educated me on TDFs. Thank you, Rose. Considering my current financial situation I should probably shoot for 2045 or 2050.
Wow thank you for sharing this information. You have made the beginning of my journey so much easier!!! Thank you
Thank you rose I hope you live long 90 + and glad to hear u will continue to make videos. I love ur videos thank u.
I am currently in the military, one of my very good friends referred me to your videos as well as our financial adviser on base as I am uneducated in the subject and quite skeptical. You do a wonderful job of breaking these things down.. thank you so much!
Thanks for the comment. I appreciate you bring it up on what’s app for assistance.

I had the Fidelity TDF before. I recently switched to a 3-fund portfolio instead for higher returns. 80% domestic index fund, 10% international index fund, and 10% bonds. 3-fund portfolio is a good alternative for lazy investors.
Thanks Rose, I'm in the process of a rollover and this is super helpful!

This is the best explanation I’ve ever seen ! Thank you 🙏
Really like that you show examples!
By examples, are you referring to the price charts?
Investing With Rose yes! I’m also including your step by step instruction in your other videos like the backdoor ira method when I mean examples.
Your content on the subject is top tier. Thanks for the info!!!
Thanks!! 😬😬

Thanks so much for your videos!! Investing is really confusing to me, so your videos are very helpful!!

Julie H P.S. Would love to hear any topic requests/suggestions you have for future videos 😊
Thank you for this very informative video!
Hi love your videos! I would love to see you make a video to talk about how to use that confusing Bond search tool on Fidelity. I think I understand 50% of it lol
Super helpful! Thank you!
So helpful! Thank you!
i LOVE your channel but can you do more videos about taxes and investing... like what are some options if we're trying to mange based on low taxes once we withdraw?
I heard that target date funds charge fees on top of the fees of the mutual funds that they hold, maybe that could be why they don't perform as well as investing directly into the s&p.
I keep my HSA in a target date fund. Mainly cause my wife does a lot of Dr trips, and I wanted to be a little more conservative with this particular investment. I targeted a date 10 years ahead of my actual target to keep it more aggressive than normal, and I can always update it if it builds up.
This is great, thank you!
Thank you Rose, this was very informative. If I decide to invest a certain amount of money can I later add more money to this investment?
Great job ! Bravo !
Thank you for this video so many of my questions were answered!
Awesome video, thank you!
This is awesome advise! Thanks!
In 2055 I'll be 68.. I know they do it in increments of 5 years, so maybe 2050 is the way to go...
Thanks for the information 🙏✅
Awesome info !!
Hi Rose your are such a great inspiration for me, I have wasted most of my life hard working and not investing. I am learning now, my goal to for target date fund 2028.
Really appreciate you dumbing down the information for us beginners. It actually helps minimize the time spent in
“Analysis Paralysis”.
-> sub’d 👍🏽‼️
Definitely better to start, and play it safe while you learn. Learning by doing (once you manage your risk) is the way to go!
I'm 23 so I put all of my Roth 401(k) in the S&P 500 Index fund. I can weather the volatility and have lots of years to weather the market 🥂
hi im a new subscriber.. hoping to learn more from you..I have FBIFX in my Roth in Fidelity
Hey Rose - love your videos and its helping me balance my portfolio. So I started looking at Roth IRAs and now trying to pick either a Target date fund or index fund. I noticed however the Fidelity Freedom Index 2040 exp ratio is 0.75 and the Fidelity 500 Index fund FXAIX is only 0.02%. But noticed obviously Fidelity Freedom is cheaper. What do you recommend?
Thanks for the video and the advice!
Great videos....love u and the info you are providing...my Fidelity target date is 2038
Wow! The power of International stocks blew my mind. I just thought it was a bad investment based on this decade.
I know! it's so tempting to blow off international stocks in favor of U.S. stocks given the crazy good performance since the crisis. but having exposure to other countries helps me sleep at night.
@@itsrosehan whats a good international stock...
Thank u for your educational wealth
I already new all this information, but I'm amazed at how cheap the fidelity funds are for US investors. We have Vanguard target date funds here in the UK, but the charge is 0.25% fund charge and they don't have long dated bond funds in there, or index linked bond funds. I'm hopi g the fund charges for UK investors will come down more
Hey Rose,
Love your content. I found you after watching " our rich journey" videos. Can you make a custodial account video for kids? Also, if you had kids, what kind of investment would make in their custodial accounts?
Great stuck again!
Sumeet
I was trying to find which and how to distribute between stocks and bonds index funds to invest my extra cash, when I came across this timely video.
2060 and I am watching all your videos while reading your top book suggestions learning so much thanks rose 🌹
Great video, just subscribed:P
thank you!
Hi Rose. I love you videos but I have a question. If I am a beginner investor starting up a Roth IRA, would it be better to use my money to buy index funds or target date funds?
Hi Rose, I am setting up my 403b and Fidelity index funds are available to me. Wondering if Target funds and other stocks/bonds should be part of my portfolio or Target funds alone? Thanks for clarifying.
What if you arent sure what year you are likely to retire? How do I pick a target date.... not sure if I would retire at 65 or 70 or somewhere in between... How important is it to get accurate and what if Im off by 3-5 years? Love your videos BTW !! Just opened my Fidelity Checking and Brokerage accounts today thanks to your advice and I feel really good about them! Thanks!!
Rose where is the link for your crash course on signing up for fidelity ?
Hi Rose, Vanguard has a much lower expense ratio. Did Fidelity raise their cost structure? I'm looking at the 2030 and 2035 target date funds.
My target date is 2055, I manage my portfolio right now but put 10% in that fund. I plan to slowly increase each year in that 2055 fund but will let my growth funds compound until I retire.
2054 is my year. One video i think would be helpful for beginners is how much of your money to put into a retirement account, i.e., Roth IRA, 401K etc, vs how much to put into other accounts (in which you might trade more often or you might want the money sooner) vs other forms of investing.
YES that's a great topic idea!!! Thank you and noted :)
Through my employer 401k I've allocated 50% to target date 2055, 30 to vanguard 500, and 20 to vanguard small cap. If you read this, what are your thoughts
Great videos!
Do we need to set up an automatic buy when very year I put money in my Roth IRA ? Or just buy one time and it’s an automatic buy ? Please tell me
Hello Rose! Now the private equity firms have access to 401k, do you mind covering what this means to us and what we have to watch out?
Hi Rose,
What happens if you land in the middle. 2045 -63 or 2050 - 68. Which one do you choose? Thanks!
Hi Rose- can expense ratios change YTY for target date funds? the expense ratio for the 2055 freedom fund is currently .75%
Thanks Rose! Quick question, since rebalancing inherently means to realize gains and sell high, how does this affect mey tax return filing for my Roth 401K? I thought we didn't have to report Roth 401k activity on tax returns. Please help if I'm not making any sense or understanding this process fully.
thanks for this breakdown! just setting mine up and finding this helpful. curious how would one discern between the Fidelity Freedom Index 2055 Fund vs the Fidelity Freedom 2055 Fund (FDEEX). the latter has a higher expense ratio, so how do i decide if it's worth it / do you recommend the index fund anyway??
cheaper one i think
if you're young and have more than 25 years for you money to grow, go with the index funds. its lower fees (expense ratio's) and they will outperform and grow better than the FDEEX which is a mutual fund.
Good question
Do you have to put 100% of your money in the target date fund? Can you split it to like 50% target date, 25% US stocks & 25% international stocks?
Thank you
Great video ! question can I have 2 ? Example I am 50 and I opened freedom index found 2035 Roth IRA , but can I open another one 2020 only 5 years ?
haha, actually it is 2025. Cash is with Fidelity in a "Managed" account, 401K with Principle. My 401K is way too aggressively invested, but that is why I am here learning from you.
Incredibly informative and easy to follow! Do you also recommend target date funds for 401k plans? My 401k offers an SP500 index fund and a target date fund but my target date fund fee is 0.47 which is a tad high. Would switching to the lower fee fund be smart if I'm planning to retire in 2055?
you absolutely should switch to the SP500 index fund. the TDF fees are higher usually and will most likely under perform the SP 500 index fund so in the long run (2055) which is also my retirement year you will have more money for retirement wth the SP500 most likely. my hospital initially had my enrolled in a TDF and until i started getting more financially "literate" i had no idea that it was such a bad idea.
Hi Rose, I've been following your vlog for a little over a month now. Very informative, especially for a novice like myself. I recently took your advise and have recently opened up an IRA account with Fidelity. The stock to bond ratio for a Freedom 2055 fund is at 90% stock. Is this a good fund to invest in? You and I seem to be the same age, so I do have a long ways to go; which means I am able to take on more risk at this time in my life. Just wanted your opinion.
i hope i will still be around to see your video when you are 90 years old
I have a quick question. when the expense ratio is low, the turnover % is also very low. Can you please elaborate on this in next video.
My 401k is a Vanguard 2035 and I have a Rollover IRA with a Fidelity Freedom 2035. Now I am considering adding money to my individual account aggressively. I am looking for a good way to invest it.
Hey Rose! Thank you so much for the videos. Is there another way to ask personal questions besides DM on Instagram? I don't currently have one.
You can email me! rose@roseshafa.com
Rose. Can u give me an insight on FAITX target fund? It performed ok so far past 3 years but expense ratio is .76% which i think is too high
Great Video!
My year is 2055
YOU DA BEST!
Why does target dated fund fees are .08% and 0.12% for very similar freedom index fund 2030 which should I choose, I’m new to investing & it’s not easy to understand but with your help I’m gonna try again, you are beautiful by the way :)
Can I buy target date mutual funds and target date index funds at the same time
What happens to my Fidelity 2020, is it more bonds now?
Can u invest whatever amount you want to a target fund monthly?
Thanks for your vids, I’m learning so much. Can’t seem to find the link for the free investing course.
Thanks for the comment. I appreciate you bring it up on What’s app for assistance.
+ 1 7 7 4 4 7 3 8 9 6 3.
Any thoughts on the M1 Finance target date funds?
Are the dividends in a TDF reinvested automatically?
Do you still recommend the target date funds that have higher expense rates now? I know you said in the other videos not to go over .2 percent. Thoughts?
Fidelity just suggested this fund to me, I'm 32 and looking to retire at 67. Do you still recommend this? I saw another video of yours about index funds, do you still suggest this mutual fund?
2050. Thanks for the great content!
I am totally novice in finance area.
Is this target date fund available in Canada as well ? Or this is for US market only ?
what is your take on fisher investments?
