I propose a challenge where you pit the oldest interceptor in DCS against the latest, except putting a novice pilot in the latest and an expert pilot in the oldest to prove it’s the pilot and not the machine. Guns only.
That was a really fun video, thanks very much for that! Very uncomplicated and quite slow compared to stealth fighters and supersonic missiles, but the photo angles and editing, the game graphics, and the overall look of the planes and sky was really great! I also enjoyed having the pilot labels on the planes (I guess that's an IL-2 thing). Well done!
They've already made videos comparing ww2 fighters like the p51 against modern jet fighters. The conclusion was that since ww2 fighters can be so slow and have a higher turn rate they usually win against equally skilled pilots.
Just a couple of really important items missing in your GR "Interceptor Series". #1 F-106 Delta Dart(specifically built from the ground up to be an Interceptor). #2 Sopwith Snipe(specifically built as Interceptor and Escort). Just FYI
Am I the only one who remembers that silly Sixties comedy, Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines? Seeing these old babies reminded me of it. I loved this one. It’s so much easier to see the action with WW1 era planes. I’d love to see you do more with these babies.
I have been watching your videos for the past 3 weeks now and I am blown away by your knowlegde and the entertainment that you are providing us viewers.I am from Romania and can you make one video with the IAR 80 ? Its a WW2 romanian fighter, very capable and well build plane similar in abilities like the BF109 . Use it in a interception video or a dogfight , no matter .People like you deserve the number of subscribers that you have and more .Keep doing this good job and also If I am not mistaken you sound a bit like Freddie Mercury .
Yes, the IAR 80 was a good fighter, and only 20-30 kph slower than the Bf 109E. It could match the 109 climbing to 5,000 ft, and could turn with it. Unfortunately, the IAR isn't available in the IL-2 sim.
the formation flying at the end was so satisfying being able to stay really close echelon 1 right.... right up until Cap put on the brakes before landing and i was forced to break off
I could be wrong, but I think the reason Bi-planes were a thing was because it was one of the only ways to get the necessary wing area for flight at the achievable speeds they travelled at and the materials they had to build planes with. Not just that but they were more durable/had better rigidity than monoplanes of the time.
It was due to a simple lack of engine power. Mono planes always made more sense on paper but you needed more power to generate the speed and therefore lift.
Hey Cap! A non IL2 comment here, but was wondering if you and the rest of GR needed another mission builder? I would love to help as i'm looking to put my skills to a more useful application. I can script with MOOSE, if that is of any interest and have extensive knowledge to the default ME. Let me know!
For more entertaining, may I suggest when you are done with the mission, you do a last man standing dogfight ? Everyone of you just turn wild and shoot eachother ?
I kept waiting for that exact thing to happen, LOL. I was sure someone was going to have a midair collision, then all hell would break loose and everyone left starts shooting, but alas, I was let down.
+GrimReapersAtomic *Sad that Eagle Dynamics has no models of 1910's combat aircraft for Digital Combat Simulation.* IRL, the Luftſtreitkräfte (DEU) / Fokker Dr.I prioritized maneuverability over speed. Target? Each side had a heaviest fixed-wing bombardment aircraft: The Royal Flying Corps (GBR) / Handley-Page O-100, and the Luftſtreitkräfte (DEU) / Gothär Waggonfabrik G.Va.
"Sopworth make rubbish engines" - they don't make engines! What did your Sopworth have? The Froggie Clerget 9Z or the much improved Bentley version? Why no Sopworth Snipe? A much faster plane than the Camel from 1918 with an even further improved Bentley engine.
If you are referring to Cap's Dolphin I believe it was powered by a Hispan-Suiza V8. In general, the V8-powered aircraft did better on this simulation because they generally had more power at altitude than the rotaries.
Hello Reapers, I love to watch your videos, as I learn so much about the game, however I have a request for you. Could you please make a video on the DCS Supercarrier mod, which would highlight many features, especially at night during night ops. I understand that DCS recently updated the night lights/illuminations and would like to have a decent video highlighting these aspects before jumping in and purchasing the mod. I am really hoping to see the various lights such as mast lights and ship/flight deck lighting/illumination. If possible I would to see the ship from different angles: T/B/PS/SB/B/S, as this would help me tremendously in my decision going forward, or not. Cheers mates!
Kind of disappointed that there isn't a Fokker Dr. 1 or Sopwith Tri-plane in the mix!! My opinion, you really don't get to see enough WWI aircraft in museums and airshows. Hey CAP, you should do a motor swap......for a Merlin!!! 😄
Model numbers. Eg. D7 being the preceding model to the D8. Spad 6 being the preceding model to the Spad 7. WW1 manufacturers built according to roles and some aircraft models never went into production after built due to competition by another manufacturer winning the contract.
those that have flown it really dislike it it does really weird things during combat and flying straight you need so much forward stick it's not fun for long periods
Caps remark about how is it so fast, cause its French? Its because they are very good at running away, you've got an imaginary target so it's as if it's running away???
I saw the title and I thought, forgive the crudity- "oh, a tallest midget contest. What's the point?" But hell, that was fun! I thought the Fokker D-7 or Spad XIII would win...I thought wrong.

And the Chance Vought F-8u Crusader, and the Siemens Schuckert D-IV
Are they in the game?
Agree re Snipe - the Bentley engine is the most powerful rotary engine ever made
Aircrafts too fast, had to play video at 0,5 speed to actually see them.

Any time I see a new GR video, I'm automatically doing wonderfully well. Love you Cap =)
xx

@@jaygee5693 IAR will be available soon. It's going to be a collector's plane.

Forget a stopwatch, you'll need a calendar for this one...
See you at the party Richter!
How long is your stay? twooooo weeeekkksss....
I never knew I needed this Intercept in my Life! Love you guys!
Love the old biplanes, it was almost totally pilot skillz
Now... what would be interesting to witness, at some point, would be an exhilarating zeppelin/blimp dog fight.
Quite a change from a mach 5 interception. Well, variety is nice!
Now I want a Croissant
And bottle of Chateau de Blank 1901?
Now, which WW I fighter can intercept the SR-71.
rear seat gunner - are we there yet?
pilot - don't make me come back there 😲
the incredulous "its french though" has to be one of the more british things I've ever heard xD
There's a couple Late war French two seaters that would have given this group a challenge, The Salmson-A1 and the Breguet Br. 14
This isn't the direction I was expecting this series to go. 🤣

@@grimreapers hey cap! Just DMed you. My name is YourAverageJoe
That was a fun one!
Sopwith Triplane (Tripe-hound) could climb like a bat-out-of-hell. Was so successful that the Germans made their own version (Fokker Dr1).
For more entertaining, may I suggest when you are done with the mission, you do a last man standing dogfight ? Everyone of you just turn wild and shoot eachother ?

oooOOO nice idea!
Old school, I like it!!
One has to wonder how well a Cessna 152 would do in this crowd. The passenger could hold a Tommy gun...

Take a moment to appreciate that we went from planes not existing to these beauties, in the space of about 15 years.
my favorite plane of that era Fokker Dr1 Dreidecker.
Agreed
4:02 lmao that's bc if you look closely you've found your missing piece on the runway Cap!😆
I’m gonna go with the plane that has the least wings and the biggest engine!
Well if there was a red line on map, Red never would’ve got lost. We all know that.
Good imatation of vulture Sqn. Who was Muttley? Catch the pigeon!

Marvelous machines!
Slow motion flying at its best. 😄
Caps plane was trimmed to still climb - hence the lack of speed.

God Bless you lot!
D7f and spad 13 should be first followed by the se5
Next will be hot air balloons
Should've ended the video with a massive free for all dogfight 😁
If it were modelled, it would definitely be the Siemens-Schuckert D.IV - look it up...
Actually, the fastest climbing German fighter was the Pfalz Dr-1.
@@13stalag13 Good point - certainly faster to 1,000m: I can only find figures for the Pfalz to 5,000 & the S-S to 6,000 though.
I'd like to know who didn't hum the tune to Those Magnificent Men and Their Flying Machines?
D7 if it has the BMW engine, Spad if it does not.
Nice
Was expecting a B-52 intercept
Are you planning to revisit the US&UK vs China&Russian CSG video in the near future with all these advancements?
Yup, working on it now :)
I’m guessing a bicycle was the fastest?
lmao.. classic... settle in for some low speed antics... ;)
Lot's of 7's and 8's. What does it stand for? cylinders? Seems weird for 7.

Awww lol no Boat Plane :( I kno that's DCS tho
Could Poland defend from the missile that hit the village two days ago?
Please make video about it!❤❤❤
these really need to be done with shooting it down and who can first
lol, which cripple plane can intercept the B-1B the quickest??? LOL
I was disappointed that the DR1 was missing.
those that have flown it really dislike it
it does really weird things during combat and flying straight you need so much
forward stick it's not fun for long periods
While the Dr-1 was very maneuverable, and a fast climber, it was actually pretty slow.
The way that ended, can you actually do a WWI plane demolition derby video?
No nieuport?
Way they heard about the bomber is just throughout two cans connected to a string
I did a thing!!!!!
xx
Caps remark about how is it so fast, cause its French? Its because they are very good at running away, you've got an imaginary target so it's as if it's running away???
No Fokker Dr.1 ???
Noone took the fokker triplane?😟
Just started the video. I know that SE.5 always wins these things, but Go Fokker DVIII!
Alert!!!
Get the wind in your hair!
You know cap your in a fighter. You should have shot down the other fighters in front of you. Hehe.....
