Hey crew, great channel. Just a note of explanation from the books on why riding the sandworm works and how to stop. The hooks pull up flaps of skin along each segment of the worm and exposes the sensitive flesh underneath the flap to the rough rocks and the sand. Since the worm can't close the flap when you've got your hooks pulling it back, the worm will roll so that the exposed part is on top, and the worm will stay on the surface, because it doesn't want crud in its flap. Ahem. But all you need is two hooks just far enough apart from each other to allow you to open one side of the flap more than the other and that's how you steer. To get the worm to stop, steer it into its own body with the flap open. The worm will not harm itself, so it stops moving forward in a moment of confusion, allowing folks whatever time needed to get off. The rider is the last one to leave and jumps clear at the last moment, taking all the risk so that all the passengers get clear on their own. With such a long body, there is a definite time delay though between giving a signal and the brain reacting to it. So that's also the delay once you let go of the worm at rest before the worm realizes its flaps are closed again and it can submerge. Seriously. The author explained the biology of the sandworms at great length.
Only dismount I recall in Frank's books is the worm is ridden to exhaustion, slows, then the rider slides down the side. The worm then begins to 'sulk' . Trips are measured in thumpers. You set another thumper and get on another. Gurney take a 'twenty thumper ride' in the third book.
They have factories, but the movies do not mention them. In the books, before Spice was found, the plan was to terrafrom Arrakis into a garden world. Supply caches and botany stations (where Duncan dies in the first movie) were built to accomplish this but were later abandoned and mothballed to mine Spice. The supplies allowed Fremen to build factories that allowed them to make stillsuits, thumpers, and para-compasses. Paul realizes how advanced the factories had to be in the book after navigating the desert using the Fremen's tools. The book also mentions that the Fremen were trading with/bribing smugglers and the Spacing Guild with Spice for supplies and to keep the planet satellite free so that they could move around the Southern half of the planet freely.
What do you mean why did the emperor go to Arrakis? They literally said, "Paul Atreides is alive, he challenges my father" Are you guys not listening to the dialogue at all?
Btw her mom wasn’t using him. She gave birth to a boy instead of a girl because Duke leto wanted a son and her love for him made her defy her order. She did that also knowing that it could cause the birth and up and coming of the kwisatz haderach. She wasn’t necessarily a believer at first and wanted to uphold that image for their survival but after witnessing some of the things paul has done she began to believe as well, specifically after drinking the water of life. She wanted Paul to come to terms with his destiny that he was running away from.
I don't get it, why would you guys do a reaction video to this and not leave up the great parts to react to? Paul's "i'm pointing the way" then his entire speech, then his "silence," why would you leave those out of your reaction video?
Sorry! We appreciate your feedback, as a newer channel we’re still learning how to work with our editor to include the best scenes. It’s a work in progress but hope that you’ll stick with us as we improve
For the question of where the Fremen get their weapons, they actually manufacture them themselves. The Fremen are a fully functioning society of millions with their own factories, hospitals, weapons, etc.
I've never seen a more emotionless, expressionless, monotone reaction to a phenomenal movie. Some people just aren't meant to make reaction videos, and that's okay.
Thanks for your feedback! It's funny you say that because we've actually been told to talk less too. We're still finding our feet with this and learning the best way to balance our reactions without talking over the film. We're taking notes so we can dive deep into our thoughts after the movie ends. Thanks for bearing with us as we figure this out-we really appreciate it!
@@joshandcasey Not just the Reverend Mothers. Paul and his sister have conscious access to the full personalities of all their ancestors back to the dawn of man. When Paul "saw our bloodline" he's not talking about just receiving the information - the Baron, with all his thoughts, desires and schemes is an active, living self within him. That's also why the Fremen RM is so shocked when she realizes that Jessica is pregnant - when all these personalities are awakened within a fetus that never had the chance to develop their own personality, there's a very real danger that an ancestor with sufficient will to power can take over the body and dominate the 'primary' personality.
This video is supposed to be better edited than the first version, but it butchered the iconic scene of Paul speaking to the Fremens like no other reaction video did except ONE. Bad job.
it is interesting to watch people who do not know the books, watching these Dune movies. Reactions are not the same. The book 1 to 6 of Dune are very complex, Villeneuve simplified the story. There are several levels how to watch these movies. Obviously fans of the books are well aware of the complexities of the story. It's like Lord of the RIngs.
There are _six_ books. Past that is just terrible corporate franchise stuff churned out after Frank Herbert's death, not written to his standards, and aren't canonical. But even if you don't want to read six books, at least consider reading Dune. It holds up as a standalone, since it's the first.
Batista was a good choice to subvert expectations. Rabban was just an overbuilt bully, no fighting skill, no strategic mind like his brother Feyd. It shows when Gurney makes one parry and finishes him easily.

Wow! Very cool! Thanks for the explanation.

Thanks for the background! So much lore in this series it’s incredible

Thanks for clearing that up 🙏

Fun fact: The “black and white” scenes in the film were actually filmed using infrared cameras to simulate a planetary environment under a black sun
Oh very cool! Thanks for sharing!

Wow! Thanks for sharing. Had no idea.
honestly good on you for listening to the comments and re-editing it, shout out to the editors as well
We always try to listen to the people and give them what they want 🙌 🙏
*zoom on two guys saying nothing and doing nothing*
Well, I hope you enjoyed the movie at least
Not sure if someone explained the worms feeding. They feed on sand plankton, filtering the sand like baleen whales.
Interesting, that sand filtering process has to be crazy. Thanks for explaining!

@@joshandcasey I'm sure that's a hard balance to strike. Good luck!
His sister get the power from the all the reverend mother before aswell :D

The crazy black 'attendants' are like bull fight picadores, wounding the slaves for a kill.
thanks for elaborating!

Some of my friends are huge fans of the books and try to get me to understand all of the lore, too much for me!

A lot of my friends have recommended the first, I’ll have to check it out!
Good job with the reupload, I had skipped watching the previous version after checking the comments
Thank you 🙌
you guys cut off a couple of the best scenes and the ones that you don't you stand like poker face
Thanks for the feedback, we’re still working on how to make sure we capture all of the big scenes and expressing more
Man yall cut out reactions to all the good parts 🤦🏻♂️
Thanks for the feedback, we’re still learning how to work with our editor to capture everything
Cool reaction bros. Cheers.
Thanks!
Did you guys reuploaded this reaction? I think Ive already seen this.
We did. However, we added in some more important scenes from the film.
14:58 LMFAO
are none of the men reacting capable of waiting a sec to find out what ‘s happening rather guessing… Egypt.
Good lord you guys cut this like shit.
Good film, enjoyed it more the second time
Same here 🙌
Dislike for cuting the sprach!
Thanks for the feedback! We’re still working on making sure we capture all the best scenes
Rabban is a bad boss. Stilgar is my favorite.
Both actors did an amazing job!
Batista was a good choice to subvert expectations. Rabban was just an overbuilt bully, no fighting skill, no strategic mind like his brother Feyd. It shows when Gurney makes one parry and finishes him easily.
No wayyyy, you are stupid guys??you skipped is really important place in the movie ((((I'm so wanted to see your reaction but((((
Sorry! We’re still in the learning phase of how to capture/include all the right scenes. Thanks for your feedback!
Y'all have terrible editing for UA-cam
yall should shut up more during dialogue. ijs.
Thanks for the feedback. We are still working on it
This movie is visually nice, and that's it, i didn't like the story, and some actors, unlike Madmax, had everything in it.
It's not for everybody.
@@joshandcasey No movie is for everybody.
you guys know this 10119?
