one (of so many) thing(s) I liked about this, was how Stilgar explained how they don't like drinking water from the Harkonnens as there are too many chemicals in them!
Gieidi Prime is a heavy industrial planet, Harkonnen do no care about pollution in their world or Arrakis, and for human life. That's in the book...many things are not explained in these movies.
The Arabic influence was said to have inspired Dune author Frank Herbert from reading T.E. Lawrence's 1926 book The Seven Pillars or Wisdom, which is a memoir of the author's time spent in Arabia. Remember the name Lawrence of Arabia?
The books leave the worm design somewhat unsettled, so you can look up different artistic interpretations. Before the current era, a common theme was having the mouth be three-sectioned. No basis in text, but it looked cool. Bit of context on Rabban: The Baron set him up to fail as a scapegoat for his own actions in the first film. Feyd was supposed to execute Rabban and present his head to the Fremen as a gift that would win him some time. He never gets the chance though. The movie ditches that idea for some reason.
@@TolyeActually you’re lying. At 21:15 you say “let’s presume she said let shai hulud do nasty things to him.” And if you had subtitles you would have known exactly what she said. Why lie?
I thought so. He missed all the crucial points of Paul's war council speech, didn't seem to comprehend other translated moments either, like 'long live the fighters' or the sign language.
What he means that the translations of all firemen lingo is hard coded in the OG movie. I can't believe you had a copy without it. I didn't think that was possible. Makes about 10% of the film - some crucial info - redundant if you don't understand what they're saying, Paul especially.
Considering how short Dune Messiah is in page count, DV certainly will be depicting some of the Jihad for runtime. Plus, he has to set up a reconciliation arc for Paul and Chani so that the culmination of the conspiracies can hit.
Yeah, everything in Messiah is told in retrospect after the war. But I reckon DV will show a lot of the war on various worlds he'll achieve this by leveraging the memories of one of the pivotal characters in Messiah, a former Fedaykin Death Commando who was one on Muad Dibhs original warriors. I think we'll get a Vietnam veteran style of flash back action scenes.
@matthewdhewlett They won't be starved for material. The DM half of the TV miniseries is feature length by itself. And because of Villeneuve's weird decision to completely omit the Spacing Guild in this movie, he'll have to do a bunch of legwork in the next one, not to mention introducing everyone's favorite unpronounceable demonym (the T folks).
just a suggestion - you need to pause the video when you're making your comments - you keep missing the best scenes and lines by talking over them. You completely missed the fetus in the womb opening her blue blue eyes when mom takes the Holy Poison.
35:46 His personal code of honour wouldn’t allow him to take short-cuts when fighting the slaves in the arena, like calling the guard off when he tried to interfere. He wanted to win on his own.
53:20 A lot of the stuff from the Star Wars movies was borrowed or adapted by George Lucas from the original Dune novels, which came out about ten years before the first Star Wars movie.

True !!
It’s the sun that makes Giedi Prime (Harkonnen Homeworld) black and white. They literally have a black sun.
If you watch with the CC on you will be able to see a translation of what they are saying in their language.
Daugther of the Baron Harkonnen : remember Bene Gesserit crossed blood lines (genetic) for centuries.... around 10 000 years in the books.

I’m just curious, you had subtitles when watching this reaction for when the fremen were speaking right?
Yes! Had to replace the video source unfortunately.
I don’t think he did considering he didn’t react to any specific dialogue being said in any of those scenes no?

Welcome to Dune universe, Tolya!
how long did it took for your hair to grow like that?
About 3-4 years.
You watched this with nothing but one crappy earbud for sound?
it's aberrant
did you just watched the whole movie without fremen's chakobsa language subtitles?
I watched it with subtitles, but had to replace the video source, because of some fps recording issues.

I know this movie clearly sets it up, but the war is actually never depicted in the books. Really wondering if they are going to show it anyways.

The T folks? You mean the Laxatives? :))
Fun fact, Fey’d’s actor improved that second kiss with Baron Harkonen,
And it was Austin Butler´s idea that Feyd should talk like Baron Vladimir, since he had been raised by him.

I saw this chapter twice in the cinema but after a month nearly 2 months, I want to see it once before before it leaves theaters. 😁
30:51 And THAT is how you introduce a villain!!
maybe this will be interesting - Constantine (2005) (and the post-credits scene too)
After the Lord of the Rings this masterpiece became my second best movies.
Lisan Al Gaib for watching this! My man

Dang you nailed the location! A part of the desert scenes (with rocks) were shot in Jordan
Director Denis Villeneuve had annonced in december 2023 that he almost has completed the script for Dune 3. The movie will be released 2025 or 2026.
I just love your commentary ❤❤
