Ronald Regan was born in Illinois but ended up buried in California.
We did a motorcycle trip that took us from Manitowoc to Luddington. It was a disappointing trip as the lake was glass-smooth with zero winds. The Badger had no movement except the wind caused by her forward motion. We had to drive our motorcycles on and off. They parked us just inside where cars had to turn. They backed a huge oversized load that was really wide, long, and heavy as noted by the number of axles under it. It was explained that the high cost of passage for the load was much less than all of the oversized permits and traffic control and escorts involved in looping around the bottom of Lake Michigan.
Having picked up a load of equipment for our dealership, and waiting till they got it all put on the trailer, I got to walk all over all 5 floors of the plant. The different colors of paint for different companies that had Oliver/White building implements for them were amazing. They were stamping Ford moldboards that day.
I had a 5th wheel implement trailer behind my 3/4 ton Ford truck. They put a 28' disk and 7 bottom plow, under, around and everywhere they could stuff it under the White 4-180 with duals on it I had picked up in Indianapolis, IN, drove to South Bend, then back down through the center of IN to SW IN/SE IL. Grossed over 35,000 but by the weight books it was closer to 38,000 lbs. Never got out of 2nd gear.

Interesting story, thanks for sharing. It looked to me like the motorcycles on board the Badger were taken off by the owners. The cars were put on by the crew. On our ride, we were a bouncin! It was hard to walk and sometimes the tummy didn’t feel right.

not fan of the big tires on the 1950, like the traditional tractor tire size. Interesting vid. though..
