@Robert Scott Godwin I drove the M977 A2 and M1120 A4 for a decade. Also rode in M978 A2, M984 A2/A4, and M1158 A4. None of these variants featured CTIS. Any tire deflation would need to occur outside the cab. It's worth noting that the M977 A2 featured in this video is a 21-ton vehicle (dry, no cargo). This chassis is capable of hauling an additional 15 tons. By design, it could haul any of the other trucks in this video. A few notes about the tires: They are decent warm weather hardball tires. They are terrible in the cold, terrible in the mud, terrible on sand, decent rock crawlers, decent for fording. Speaking of fording, the M1120 A4 can ford up to 2 feet of water with zero mechanical implications, and up to 4 feet of water for up to 15 minutes, but the TM states you must pull the hub covers and open the transfer cases and check for water. Anyway, it's a mean machine, but it does not provide all the creature comforts of the FMTV cargo trucks (which are absolute off-roading monsters).

Dario you should get track over tires on rear only , it will be like night and day over that soft sand there about 4000 dollars more or less then you will only let the air out the front only maybe not even that but I am telling you big difference on the heavier trucks.

It probably uses more fuel than the barge. What was the backup plan if it got stuck?
Back up plan is tow him with a couple of the Unimogs that we had along for the trip. We also had some mechanics who were familiar with the truck who sorted out the air valve issue with a work around.
@@philbox4566 how wuld you even get the tires off and onto the roof of that thing they problably weigh around 150kgs each
@@thetouringprepper8681 He uses the onboard crane. Easy peasy. ;)
call mom
a real driver? :D :D :D
Did it in a Landie with Holden six engine 😁 good times
The last 30' seconds of the video is how I used to drive the Hemtt's and PLS's all the time.
Why is he entering the Ngkala track from the side, just going to collapse the edge, track washes away and then nobody will be able to get through there, and what's with the light tower?
i drove one of these oshkosh vehicle's for uncle sam for 16+ year's. as they were saying drop the tire pressure to about 40 psi, but they still have a bit of a rough time in the sand even then. some have a awesome winch system. using the winch does take about 5 to 10 minute's to set up depending on your experience on setting it up. a beautiful power engine in it also
Is the right-hand drive cab conversion directly from Oshkosh or was it done custom by another company?
I saw that too. All the ones I've worked on were left hand drive
such as nice big toy :D
Sounds like a raggedy detroit diesel, it's no wonder it's stuck
They do wonders for the hearing aid industry.
2 stroke gm and walking beams front and rear, what a nightmare😁
That 2stroke Detroit is the star of the show. And they are quite durable
It would ride like a billy-cart. And use more fuel than the ferry, hahaha
bruce poole but it would get you there
@@mickysteiner8359 I owned a ATKINSON back in the day with a 8v92TA. It was a v8 oil pump, check the fuel and fill up the oil, hahaha. smooth motor but no torque compared to a CUMMINS or a CAT.
bruce poole I’m used to the 8v92t that has the mods for the military myself
0:28 Pretty sure the Thunderbirds had one of those
Is there a reason you didn't air down the 8X8?
Pretty sure it has internal tyre deflation system having seen the Marines using these in the desert. Just as our bushmasters have tyre deflation control in the cab.
He will soon get sick of everyone laughing at him taking 30 mins to do something a landcruiser would do in 2 mins
I’ve driven quite a few HEMTTs in the 12 years I was in the army (86-98) and seen literally hundreds of them, and not a one of them had CTIS. Maybe the later versions (A2, A3, A4) had it installed.
Yep look over the rocks those tires are rock hard
This video proves my little jimny with a fked motor is still as capable as an 8x8 and mine only cost $500 instead of 1million..
That 8x8 isnt nearly a million, and the difference is it carries 2 of you jimnys, as well as wades deeper. Nothing against jimnys, but you just cant compare them, compare to lada
Is there anything it’s good for? I thought sand would be it’s specialty
craki06 no its worthless
@@jackelracer593 any tool is worthless if the operator doesn't know what they're doing
No the driver is just incompetent about how to drive
Sand is nothing's specialty with full tyres
Where did the 8x8 get converted to right-hand drive? Was it necessary to get it registered in Australia?
Machine World on Tour !!!
Turn the damn lights off this clip gave me seizures. The 8x8 sucks arse I want to see more of that white mog with the delux camper
The lights come on automatically unless you run with Zero lights no break lights or turn signals or in black out then you can only see with the lights with Night vision .
@@jimbotheassclown well that's fucken shit now isn't it? 😂
No the military doesn't care if it ruined your UA-cam video watching experience.
@@jimbotheassclownso it's illegal to drive? Piece of shit anyway I thought the military got nothing but the best gear😂
No the lights have 3 positions off , on and black out . Your really having a hard time with the concept of a light switch.
Too big...too heavy...too destructive....shouldn’t let it on that beautiful island!
NO! Too idiot!
The Mog with the camper on the back looks interesting is it an extended cab and what camper did you use or did you adapt an older model caravan?
That is my Mog. It was an ex Oz Army crane truck. I took the crane off and built an extended cab for it. The camper came off an F250 I had. Way way too heavy for the F truck. Fitted straight on but I had to adapt the jacking brackets though.
Phil Box Cool was it an old F250 camper was there Brand name? Ok looked at your other videos video was it meant for a 11ft bed?
@@hamishdavidson3368 It had Sainsbury's as a brand name on the front. No idea where it came from.
Got to love the sound of a screaming Detroit Diesel
revs pretty high, is that a 2 stroke diesel?
A 2stroke at 3000 will sound like a 4stroke at 6000
