As a child growing up in the suburbs of Washington DC, I was always afraid of war. I had nightmares of missiles in the sky and soldiers in my backyard, most likely brought upon by the political tension of the early 1980’s and my proximity to the Nation’s Capitol. My youth was spent under the dark cloud of a hopeless future.
Last fall, as I was driving my 11 year old daughter to school, she turned to me and asked, “Daddy, is there going to be a war?” My heart sank in my chest as I looked into her innocent eyes, because I realized that she was now living under that same dark cloud of a hopeless future that I had felt 40 years ago.
I wrote “Waiting On a War” that day.
Everyday waiting for the sky to fall. Is there more to this than that? Is there more to this than just waiting on a war? Because I need more. We all do.
This song was written for my daughter, Harper, who deserves a future, just as every child does.

I live in Ukraine. Russia attacked Ukraine in 2014, annexed the Crimean peninsula and unleashed a war in eastern Ukraine by capturing part of Donbass. Because many residents of Ukraine considered Russia a friendly country, almost every resident of Ukraine has relatives who live in Russia. No some of mine was incredible, yet not quite the usual Foo
This, this is the perfect blend of old and new, a true banger
I thought that shame shame was nothing new; really nothing special. It was long, dragging and a disappointing first single. Idk I guess it just didnt speak to me. No son of mine was great and completely different than shame shame. It really got me excited for the new album because I thought I could finally see the heavy side of FF that dave talks about frequently. Then, waiting on a war kindda disappointed me again. It is unnecessarily long and repetitive and follows the typical foo fighters formula - it was kindda predictable from the beggining that it would elevate gradually and end with big guitars and drums. And the sudden ending of the instruments while dave gives his last breath is not new also. So I got my hopes back down.

@@Ajo7a no son of mine is a shit - song definitely. it has no beautiful or interesting to sing and read lyrics, the majority of sounds isn’t opened, there is no normal dynamics in this song because it starts with one riff and it ends with the same one. it is like Mötorhead and i think you will agree with the fact that all Motörhead songs are same
@@Ajo7a speaking about shane shame - well, this song is absolutely unusual for FF because there is no culmination in Shame Shame. this song has no parts where you see the difference with the other parts of the song. it is all SAME. but to tell the truth i liked it. i don’t listen it more than twice a day, but it feels as a tasty kind of rock thing

No son of mine is nothing special yet entertaining, kinda borrows from motorhead and/or Rammstein (especially in the drums side of things). A song that's probably really great live
This song is as you say,closer to typical foo fighters (wich is kinda what i like, ngl), yet it has a mood I don't find in other FF songs, and still sounds good, But hey, taste and colors.
I don't think you should give up your hopes on the album yet, so far we got 3 really different songs, so if there's as much variety in the whole album then it will probably have great stuff :)
Shame Shame was a new air; No Son Of Mine was brutal. But this has really excited me more about what's coming up on this new album. It has that Foo Fighters essence.

@@HughezyEntertainment I think Shame Shame was a good choice for a lead single since it sets up what to expect. This time is something unique imo. Still it is my least favourite lead single but I imagine it will sound better listened to with all the other songs from the album. In other words, it's good that it informs us what to expect but it isn't that great of a song.

To be fair, in this track's case, it sounds pretty reminiscent of 90's/early 2000's Foo-- so it's kinda them showing off how versatile they still CAN be 😅 The first single showed that they can be unpredictable, the 2nd track showed that they can be extremely predictable with their sound, and this one shows that they can still sound similar to how they used to. It's pretty interesting, actually

Something interesting about the video is the child is skipping, the punk is walking, and the soldier is running. I’m not sure what significance it has to the song but they make for interesting visuals. Also, if anyone is reading this and hasn’t, look up Dave Grohl’s statement on the song he released alongside the video. It gives a lot more meaning to it IMO.
