Dad got early onset dementia in his early 40s, and ended up in a nursing home where me, my mum, and my sister (who was barely 6 years old when dad was diagnosed) used to visit him. One day, he is taken ill. It's pneumonia. A few days later he dies aged 47. A few days after that, this song is released, with the video being set in a nursing home, with the patients rebelling against the monotony of their lives and acting young one last time. A few days after the funeral, "Sky Is A Neighbourhood" is released I was actually reminded of this song just now when I had to fix a problem with my laptop and needed to use the "Run" function to fuck around in regedit. Decided to give the song a listen again and see if I can get through Run without crying. I can't. But they're happy tears. This song is one my dad would have loved, as is the video. He'd been a rebel his entire life, before he settled down and had me he'd been a homeless punk. Even after accepting a normal life he still never took shit from anyone and never accepted "the man" telling him what he could and couldn't do. To me, Run encapsulates the man he was, and Sky Is A Neighbourhood was perfect for a send off. Thank you for the amazing music, Foo Fighters. Thank you
