"I've got soul but I'm not a soldier" makes me think of a man who wants try his best, even though he's lost in a world that demands routine and he simply can't conform
I took it as meaning someone sensitive who has to deal with a lot of rough shit but hasn't been trained to face it head on like soldiers, cops, doctors, nurses, therapists, that sort of thing. I'm not disagreeing. Art is people seeing the same thing differently. Life is communicating that.

I just turned 42 and the line "I'm so much older then I can take" really speaks to me. I was in my early 20s when this song came out. I just graduated college and was living a care free life. Now I have three kids, two are teenagers. I have no idea how I got here so fast.
Time by pink Floyd pretty much sums it up. I'm about to turn 29 and since I turned 19 life has been a blur, maybe feels like 4 years max. Strange concept
I turn 42 in a couple weeks, brother. Right there with you. Just visited my mother’s grave and this song came to mind. Remember listening to it when she was alive.
I'm 42 also and I'm reminded of the line in Fawlty Towers when John Cleese is talking to himself: Basil: “Zhoom! What was that? That was your life, Mate! Oh, that was quick. Do I get another? Sorry, Mate. That’s your lot.”

But this is what life is , I will build on what I have and aim to get a family and build my life back up . Never give up . Never
The song is about television host Matt Pinfield. Before The Killers were famous, Pinfield, who was a vice president of A&R at Columbia Records at the time, tried to sign the band. He was also working with the U.S. Army as part of a program that mentored wounded and/or PTSD-stricken musician soldiers returning from Iraq. After visiting veteran soldiers in Colorado City, he went to Las Vegas, where he quickly bonded with The Killers. Pinfield watched the band rehearse at drummer Ronnie Vannucci's garage and took them out to dinner. He asked if anybody wanted to give him a ride back to his hotel and Brandon Flowers offered to drive Pinfield. They wound up hitting the bar at the Gold Coast Hotel on a Tuesday night, just "talking about life", Pinfield said: I started to tell him the story about mentoring soldiers, and I was getting ready to go through a divorce. I was going through a bit of a rough time. So, he went home that night, and their old manager, Braden Merrick, calls me on the phone, and goes, 'Hey Matt, Brandon wrote a song about you. He went home last night and wrote this song.' It was 'All These Things That I've Done,' and the line 'I've got soul, but I'm not a soldier' is about the mentoring thing. In 2016, Pinfield titled his memoir "All These Things That I've Done: My Insane, Improbable Rock Life". On January 19, 2019, the band gave Pinfield a shoutout while introducing the song at the iHeartRadio ALTer Ego 2019 festival at The Forum in Inglewood, California, where Pinfield was in attendance in a wheelchair still recovering from being hit by a car a month before.
I'm sick, my body is dying, but my mind still here, thanks to people like you, who create something beautiful and unforgettable. Art is the fuel of the human soul, it's no small thing, never forget it.
Where is the sense when your senses and in particular your hearing takes in all around you in the absence of silence. Music helps us to escape/ enjoy/ feel who we are, and connect to others. One path........
Ijustwastedyourtime0 most emotional to me is Goodnight Travel Well that song is so underrated, and when it comes to favorite killers song it’s too hard to choose one
I always turned my late little brother onto to music. He was 8 years younger and was always a few years behind me on good music. I saw the Dead in 96 and then Allman brothers then WSP. He wasnt into my jam bands. What we did have in common was 2 full blown junkies. I never offered him anything but I always had a stash of something. Cleaning Dr. offices at night provided free narcotics. Anyways so when this came out he called me out his truck and Iwas very reluctsnt and knew I wouldnt care for se band named The Killers. I thought they were heavy metal judt bu thr name. We sat in his truck for at least an hour listening. I was hooked on The Killers afyer that afternoon. My nickname has been Sam Barfield since I was born so that drew me in too. When I really like a band I study thier catalog of music inside and out and they certainly delivered. On Nov. 20th 2015 he passed away from complications from the life we were living. I can't find it to type out the words of what happened that day. It has been a while since I listened to these guys because I couldn't bear being reminded of my little brother. I think I must have cried a river this morning just remembering times we spent together listening to The killers. I hope I get to see you guys at a venue soon.
This song has helped me come back from the brink a few times. I’ve been at the end of my rope several times, suicide hotline, doctors, medication. But in the end I kept holding on, kept fighting. Like “I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier” I’ve got the will to fight, but I’m not a fighter. If anyone finds this comment, just remember you can always keep moving, hold your head high and hold on. Edit: Still here! I'd forgotten about this comment! haha. Life is still tough, but now I'm sober. 2020 was a hell of a ride for me, as I'm sure it was for a great many people. But I'd like to thank you all for such a wonderful outcry of support and kindness. Sometimes I've forgotten that we're all in this life together. Be kind everyone, and hold on! Update Edit! 12/16/22: You all have been so wonderfully supportive. You've all kept me going to be honest. I kept going, I lived with my sister for 3 years and I saved every penny I could and bought my own home! Sure it's a used manufactured home, but it's mine. However, I paid cash so i didn't need a mortgage. Now I'm helping out a friend at the end of their rope, and giving them a place to stay so they aren't homeless. There's no secret sauce to my situation, I was very lucky. I was frugal and things just happen to work out. But hold on, don't give up. Life can have some twists and turns you never saw coming. Update Update! 2/27/23 Still getting a lot of positive comments, more than I'd ever thought my little comment would ever get, more than I thought it deserved. You all still continue to be the most wonderful, inspiring, and supportive people. You've all exemplified the very best we can be when we find those in the lowest of times. Life of course still throws it's curve balls, and they do hit hard. But now I'm no longer alone with my problems, and I know I'm lucky for that privilege. Stay strong, keep moving, and hold on to the ones you love, because those moments are fleeting... 3/3/23 Wow life does like a curve ball. I'm in the metro Detroit area. In the past 5 days I've gone from no power for 3 days to a furnace failure that lead to the discovery that my furnace is putting out toxic levels of carbon monoxide. The new furnace will set me back at the very least 3200. Coupled with rampant low staffing at my current job leading my emotional state being at an all time low. I feel like this song resonates more than ever, and how much positivity I've received here. I'm of course applying to other jobs. But i just once again wish to say thank you. It doesn't matter how small you think your comment may be, or think it means nothing. But it does. One comment may make a difference. I have felt alone for so long, I didn't know what healthy support looked like. Find that one shred of something that keeps you moving and hold on tight to it, It just may save your life Edit 6/23/24. I wish I had better news, but I don't. Costs have gotten insane for the house, even with a roommate and supplemental income im desperately sinking. All my savings are gone and I've got far too much credit card debt now. I've made the decision to sell it and move back in with my sister. I have been sober from alcohol for 1 year and 3 months. A combination of weed and the help of a friend I was able to get off and stay off it. I am still single. Been on a date or two last year but the stigma of living in a manufactured home in a trailer park did me no favors either. I've fallen into a deep and dark depression. I quit my job because I couldn't bring myself to go (a retail blue box furniture store) and then the shame of not being able to work for being a pathetic loser and letting depression get to me. I'm at a loss. I thought I did all the right things. But nobody seems to want me. I've never had a relationship last more than 2 months and I'm just constantly ghosted on dating apps. I know it's partially me, I am a lot and I know it. But I am so touch and affection starved it is eating away at me. I literally don't know what it even feels like to hold the hand of someone I care about, nor have I ever woke up other than alone. I can no longer watch shows or stuff with romance in it because it makes me feel so bitter, the feeling of it being dangled in front of me as a reminder of (this is what you will never have). It's to the point I no longer feel like a salvageable human anymore. I won't give my whole life story but you can put the pieces together from my lengthy diatribes lol. Thank you all again for your kind words. I come back here once and awhile, but i was too ashamed to update with bad news. Don't worry, this isn't the end. I won't do anything dumb but I'm just so tired. Tell someone you like having them around. You have no idea what it can mean to someone. This will be my final update.
my dad used to play this in his car when I was little, I never knew what it was called or who it was by and I didn't remember the lyrics. He died 3 years ago. Recently someone recommended this song to me and I immediately cried when I recognized it. this song never fails to make me cry since.
“If you can hold on, hold on” This song is dedicated to my grandparents who both died in the same month. It was the most painful experience I have endured. I wanted to give up multiple times. But, I pushed through. Here I am 5 years later, stronger than ever. There is nothing I can not do. I do everything for them. They are my angels. I was able to hold on, so I did.
When there's nowhere else to run Is there room for one more son? One more son If you can hold on If you can hold on, hold on I wanna stand up, I wanna let go You know, you know, no you don't, you don't I wanna shine on, in the hearts of men I want a meaning from the back of my broken hand Another head aches, another heart breaks I'm so much older than I can take And my affection, well it comes and goes I need direction to perfection, no no no no Help me out, yeah You know you gotta help me out, yeah Oh, don't you put me on the back burner You know you gotta help me out, yeah And when there's nowhere else to run Is there room for one more son? These changes ain't changing me The cold hearted boy I used to be Yeah, you know you gotta help me out Yeah, oh don't you put me on the back burner You know you gotta help me out, yeah You're gonna bring yourself down, yeah You're gonna bring yourself down, yeah You're gonna bring yourself down I got soul, but I'm not a soldier I got soul, but I'm not a soldier I got soul, but I'm not a soldier I got soul, but I'm not a soldier I got soul, but I'm not a soldier I got soul, but I'm not a soldier I got soul, but I'm not a soldier I got soul, but I'm not a soldier I got soul, but I'm not a soldier I got soul, but I'm not a soldier (Time, truth, and hearts) Yeah, you know you gotta help me out, yeah Oh, don't you put me on the back burner You know you gotta help me out, yeah You're gonna bring yourself down, yeah You're gonna bring yourself down, yeah Oh don't you put me on the back burner You're gonna bring yourself down, yeah You're gonna bring yourself down Over and in, last call for sin While everyone's lost, the battle is won With all these things that I've done All these things that I've done (Time, truth, and hearts) If you can hold on If you can hold on
This was my friend Rae's favorite song. He was an alcoholic who took his own life 7 years ago. He was a talented artist, saxaphone player, and an air traffic controller. But, most of all he and I could talk endlessly about anything and we never got mad at each other. I love ya Rae. Thank you for being a "true" friend!

@3:18 it’s 2021 in Chicago, Illinois and I’m at the Aragon Ballroom watching The Killers perform this amazing song. There’s pyro and confetti going on and it’s one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Everyone in the venue is in unison to this tune and just enjoying this moment as paper confetti is outing down from the rafters.
@HurleyJ friend, the concert was in 2021 lol. I’m reminiscing about the experience I had while at the concert. Why would I go to UA-cam during a concert just to post a comment? Lol
This song so beautifully captures how imperfect we are no matter our best intentions. “I want to shine on in the hearts of men” followed by a lament of “all these things I’ve done.” It’s like someone wrote my confession. Just rips you open and lays you bare.
@@edpearson8973 I think it is best for you to move on and troll other comments. “It is the mark of an educated man to entertain a thought without accepting it.” I guess you missed that one in Philosophy 101.

Driving around high as fuck with a buddy back in 2005, and “I got soul, but I’m not a soldier” hook comes on and we’re both screaming our lungs out to it, and then I break down and start crying. My friend asks me what’s wrong and that was when I finally opened up about the war in Iraq and how I really wasn’t as okay as I had thought I was coming back from it.
I am from Germany and I went abroad to Ireland a few years ago, this song brings up so many memories. I remember a night in a pub, where everyone was yelling to this song. It has a special place in my heart
Bad times are real. The way we deal with it are too. Change the way you see the world. 15 years is a long way to "hold on". Enjoy the ride Kathy. You can inbox me. Bye, greetings from Argentina.
I became obsessed with this amazing song when the video came out. I had the song on endless loop for days. One morning I woke up and didn't feel right. I was diagnosed with MS and avoided this song for 3 years after that. Here I am now still able to walk and still not 100% right but thankfull to listen to this from a survivor point of view. Thank you!
I've been compulsively playing it for about a year now. I'll be listening to my usuals -- which ones depend to whatever is bouncing around my head,; then something will come up & I land on this video. For the next couple of days: that's it. Over & over. What is it about this song? It's wild. How are you doing these days? I hope things have continued to improve.
I don’t know why but this has suddenly become one of my favourite songs at the moment, even though it’s been around for years. Literally must have listened to it about 40 times in the past week.
right? i hadn’t heard the album for the better part of a decade and going back to it almost every single melody came back to me as if i’d just heard it yesterday
Whoa. I wept listening to this. This was on my first ipod I ever had as a kid and used to listen to it while working. After more than a decade of drugs and alcohol, this song brought me back to simpler times. Music has an unbelievable impact
"I Got Sober, now I'm a Soldier". I was actually in rehab the first time I heard this and thought " this is so fitting". . Now as a Sober Soldier, it is even more fitting knowing the actual lyrics.
This is really uplifting for the hurt ,broken, depressed self- destructive personalities and suicidal....you know you're not alone anymore......its good for your mental health IMO
I remember the "it gets better" adverts. But for a kid who is being abused, it doesnt just magically get better. When you're abused to the point of disability, you're especially trapped. I couldnt imagine it getting better. I wad the first part of this song minus the happy memories. Its amazing how living on my own, far away from my abusive family, even with my disability making it difficult to support myself, I can relate to the second part of the song and the optonism

"I've got soul but I'm not a soldier." My husband always tells me how strong he thinks I am, but I have a hard time seeing it myself. I'm so young but have been through so much and am tired. I love this song because it is so comforting. It's my favorite Killers song.

Always heard "one more sun..." -as in one more day. The lyrics seem very existential to me. "All these things that i have done"-he is taking stock of his life, summing it all up. His hopes, dreams, failures and success's. He's at a crossroad of life and needs to make new and better decisions. I bet he wrote this around the age of 27-many seem to go thru a similar crisis at this age.

I’m a white dude from kansas but basketball introduced me to hip hop in grade school, it was all i first listened to as well. But then i started expanding into indie stuff like this and am happy to have rounded out my musical taste. The best rappers be listening to all this good shit to find corners of inspiration and innovation.
My dad used to play me and my brother this song when we were kids and I havent listened to it in years. it reminds me of better times when you didnt have to worry about anything and there was nothing bad in your life and it really brought tears to my eyes
For my entire life I thought it was "I got sober, now I'm a soldier" with the idea that the singer literally enlisted to change their life. I guess it was another time in 2004.
It’s been 20 years since this song came out. Hopefully, within the next 5, 10 or even 20 years, people will like this comment so I can come back and hear this song again.
My absolute favourite Killers song in their magnificent anthology of truly great tracks. Who cannot sing at the top of their voice the "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" refrain?
I love this song so much. Something about the whole hot fuss album encapsulates every emotion. I think this song encapsulates both abandonment but also resilience. 10/10 somg
I used to go jogging with this song all the time in college. And then I changed my phone, stopped the running habit during a short period of depression. This melody keep popping in my head and I’ve been trying to figure out what’s the name of this song for around 3 years ….. damn it ! Found it !!! Happy new year everyone
I always liked this song. Many many years later (this past year actually) I became a Christian. I relistened to this song. I then thought... "hey, is this about Jesus? Or a person who's wrestling with Jesus & salvation?" THEN I saw the documentary about Johnathan Roumie who plays Jesus in the Chosen & he met with the singer of the Killers & they talked about Christianity. Which confirmed my thoughts about this song. To fellow Christians, listen to this song again & think about yourself wrestling with salvation & grace. You'll feel it.
I honestly just discovered this song and reading all these comments made me shed some tears, if you read this, you are beautiful, important and so so worth it. Hold on.
My uncle bought this for me when I was 9 and it was our favourite album to listen too. Anytime I was sad he would put this song on and tell me to sing on the top of my lungs. He died in October 2022. I listen to this song and get reminded of how he was such a great person! Will forever love Hot Fuss and this song. My uncle Declan will forever be in my heart along with this song.
The dialogue of him saying “I’ve got soul but I’m not a soldier” should’ve been added to the album version. As well as the harmonies of the last verse of the chorus
I just realized how deep and layered this song is. It's about what it says in the video but only down river to the point where everyone can appreciate it. Masterpiece
This song just saved me from literally going insane thank you guys.. idc what they say music can do more than your friends can sometimes... hell we just need music to get us right
Just Me182 If your sanity can be saved by something as fleeting as a song you’re probably going to lost your mind at some point in the future regardless.
Both of my parents have passed over the last 10 months. I'm a 30 year old man. I'm so much older than I can take. This song brings me more peace and solace than any words could express. I've leaned on this song since I was a young boy and I lean on it today.
@bcbphilosophy ugh horrible to hear that bro!! Try your best to keep your head up!! You know they would want yo to live happily and successfully in honor of them!!
I just discovered this song this month. I was sulking at myself why I didnt heard this earlier. But I guess songs like this will find you in the right time when you're at the lowest.
Some simple harmonies are so damned good at driving the point home. The pleading of "you gotta help me out! Yeah, dont you put me on the backburner!" aims for the gut and heart simultaneously, and I'm suckerpunched thinking about all the vets I met in my grad work and beyond. We've abandoned twenty years of volunteers as a standard practice and left them to face TBIs and PTSD with only broken promises. I'm still in touch with a handful. This song recalls these men in my memories. Those whose lives died at the age of 19, yet they were pinned with purple hearts and had to figure how to carry on in their short-circuited bodies for the next 50 years. Refining the seizure meds was my job and it might have helped them, but being present and accounted for when a vet suddenly forgot who I am, where he was, and what he was doing was the best I had to offer. And likely still is.
I used to listen to them when I was a teen and now that I am 27 I can´t help to feel this heavy black nostalgia of the "better times" time ago... their music makes me remeber old friends, old places, old plans, old expectations and old way to view life. thats when you realize that music is ART.
I’ve always interpreted this song as a conversation between a hopeless sinner and Christ. Someone who has faith but is losing patience in waiting for the Lord to work in his life. He is trying to make changes but is still the same “cold hearted boy”. He feels left behind needs to see a miracle. At the end Jesus finally speaks to him and reminds him to keep going if he can and remember that through His works and by being crucified, He saved all who believes.. “the battle is won.. with all these things I’ve done” I’m sure I’m simply interpreting it wrong but that always seems like the most logical answer. The more I grow in my own faith, the more I see the biblical message in The Killers music.
I feel ya bro! Nostalgia hits me when i listen to this song, but that's how memories work, the happier the memory the painful if it is to remember it, you can almost feel sorry for your own self...
For some reason, “I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier” and finally getting the “all these things that I’ve done” are the parts that make this song for me.
I’m here because the world is going to hell in a hand basket, and I need to see and hear something that won’t make me cry. Thank you to The Killers. You guys make me smile. 🙂
"I've got soul but I'm not a soldier" makes me think of a man who wants try his best, even though he's lost in a world that demands routine and he simply can't conform

I'm 42 also and I'm reminded of the line in Fawlty Towers when John Cleese is talking to himself:
Basil: “Zhoom! What was that?
That was your life, Mate!
Oh, that was quick.
Do I get another?
Sorry, Mate. That’s your lot.”
@@dukenukem69they say your 20 is a mess and blur and u don’t start living until your 30’s . I’m 24 I remeber being 17 leaving school and now I’m 24 sitting in a lonely house with no family or friends .
They wound up hitting the bar at the Gold Coast Hotel on a Tuesday night, just "talking about life", Pinfield said:
I started to tell him the story about mentoring soldiers, and I was getting ready to go through a divorce.

God love you mate.
Mr Brightside may be their most popular song, but this is their most emotional and my personal favorite.
Ijustwastedyourtime0 100% yes
Ijustwastedyourtime0 most emotional to me is Goodnight Travel Well that song is so underrated, and when it comes to favorite killers song it’s too hard to choose one
I personally love My List, but I agree it's really hard to choose
You need to listen to Some Kind of Love if you think this is their most emotional, it will give you all the feels.
Mine is Miss Atomic Bomb.
I think this whole album is timeless. It truly feels like it has always existed since rock began and also has just released this week.
Perfect explanation 😂😂
Amazing album.
All day, fuck
Facts
You all have been so wonderfully supportive.
Still getting a lot of positive comments, more than I'd ever thought my little comment would ever get, more than I thought it deserved.
3/3/23
Wow life does like a curve ball. Find that one shred of something that keeps you moving and hold on tight to it, It just may save your life
Edit 6/23/24.

This song is dedicated to my grandparents who both died in the same month. It was the most painful experience I have endured. I wanted to give up multiple times. But, I pushed through. Here I am 5 years later, stronger than ever. There is nothing I can not do. I do everything for them. They are my angels.
I was able to hold on, so I did.

absolutely!
but it says there is nowhere else to run
Especially 2:24 for your last sprint
Someone doesn't listen to Hardstyle!
Sprint?
When there's nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son?
One more son
If you can hold on
If you can hold on hold on
I wanna stand up I wanna let go
You know you know - no you don't you don't
I wanna shine on in the hearts of man
I want a meaning from the back of my broken hand
Another head aches another heart breaks
I'm so much older than I can't take
And my affection well it comes and goes
I need direction to perfection no no no no
Help me out
Yeah you know you got to help me out
Yeah oh don't you put me on the back burner
You know you got to help me out
And when there's nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
These changes ain't changing me
The gold-hearted boy I used to be
Yeah you know you got to help me out
Yeah oh don't you put me on the back burner
You know you got to help me out
You're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah you're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah you're gonna bring yourself down
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
I got soul but I'm not a soldier
You're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah oh don't you put me on the back burner
You're gonna bring yourself down
Yeah you're gonna bring yourself down
Over and in last call for sin
While everyone's lost the battle is won
With all these things that I've done
All these things that I've done
If you can hold on
If you can hold on
Gracias asian man 🖒
Cheers you just made an old man so happy
Always heard "one more sun..." -as in one more day. The lyrics seem very existential to me. "All these things that i have done"-he is taking stock of his life, summing it all up. His hopes, dreams, failures and success's. He's at a crossroad of life and needs to make new and better decisions.
I bet he wrote this around the age of 27-many seem to go thru a similar crisis at this age.
Tem alguem que fala português?
Thanks

I’m black, raised on American HipHop and this is one of my favorite songs of all time!
I'm English, live in Edinburgh, Scotland and I'm with you one-hundred percent!
We all love what we love! Listen on my friend!
I’m a white dude from kansas but basketball introduced me to hip hop in grade school, it was all i first listened to as well. But then i started expanding into indie stuff like this and am happy to have rounded out my musical taste. The best rappers be listening to all this good shit to find corners of inspiration and innovation.
The gospel voices in the background is what puts this song over the top. Adds so much passion
Well, you've got great extensive musical taste 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
My dad used to play me and my brother this song when we were kids and I havent listened to it in years. it reminds me of better times when you didnt have to worry about anything and there was nothing bad in your life and it really brought tears to my eyes
This makes me feel old
Things are never quite what they seem.
“I got soul but I’m not a soldier”, one of the best lyrics of all time!
Since finally being saved I hear a LOT of songs differently.
I honestly just discovered this song and reading all these comments made me shed some tears, if you read this, you are beautiful, important and so so worth it. Hold on.
Thanks
1 of the most uplifting, motivational songs I've ever experienced. God bless you!
This
(etc.)
I would love to hear some suggestions, if anyone has something to share, songs seem to be what I have now
This song is incredibly underrated. Truly a masterpiece. 👏🏻
As well as the harmonies of the last verse of the chorus
nah that part kinda ruined it. the harmony yes though.
I just realized how deep and layered this song is. It's about what it says in the video but only down river to the point where everyone can appreciate it. Masterpiece
please explain you point further, I'm interested
@@cottonsheep2367 I'll explain it if you want, I mean that is what we do.
@@mach8147 Ok, go
"I need direction to perfection no no no no-hELP ME OUT"-- might be my favorite part of any song ever.
ahhh all of this one is perfect
also army?
"I'm so much older than I can take" hit unreasonably hard at 16, it still hits at 20, and I suspect it will continue to hit hard forever
While everyone’s lost, the battle is won, with all these things that I’ve done.
what is the meaning for this line, in your opinion?
This song just saved me from literally going insane thank you guys.. idc what they say music can do more than your friends can sometimes... hell we just need music to get us right
Just Me182 It is a lifesaver. The deep rooted meanings are a gift from something. The melody sealed the deal. You cant lie in this song
DeZz. Agreed sometimes you just need that extra push in life
Just Me182 same
Watch The Matador. At the end you might just hear a song you recognize, and one of the more underrated endings in recent cinema.
Just Me182 If your sanity can be saved by something as fleeting as a song you’re probably going to lost your mind at some point in the future regardless.
This song made my early teenage years a lot better than they would’ve been without it, thanks a lot, The Killers.
Hard to believe it’s been 20 years since I first heard this album. Still love this song.
You're making me feel old...
Absolutely insane.
This song is just always there for me. A forever love of mine.
Saw them perform at acl a few years ago, he repeated “I’ve got soul but I’m not a soldier” over and over and over again, it was amazing
Both of my parents have passed over the last 10 months. I'm a 30 year old man. I'm so much older than I can take. This song brings me more peace and solace than any words could express. I've leaned on this song since I was a young boy and I lean on it today.
@bcbphilosophy..peace out brother.
RIP to your parents mate 👍
@craigcullen28 thank you so much ❤️🙏
@bcbphilosophy ugh horrible to hear that bro!! Try your best to keep your head up!! You know they would want yo to live happily and successfully in honor of them!!

Sorry to hear that brother ,Keep strong Mate ,Plenty of people to talk too who can help and comfort you :)
I just discovered this song this month. I was sulking at myself why I didnt heard this earlier. But I guess songs like this will find you in the right time when you're at the lowest.
That's crazy, I first heard this wheen I was like 10 in 2006. Enjoy!
It's always my go to song.
One of the best songs of all time
RACKITBALL
They hogged all songs
I've spent the last hour listening to old music i loved when I was a kid and its all from 2005. What a fantastic year for music.
So was 1992
+Andrew Taylor How do you know man? Nothing stopping him(her?) from listening to the golden oldies :P
+nile linder Coldplay X&Y! What a good year!
How did you make the connection between the vets and that line? After researching the background of how this song came to be?
For multiple reasons, I believe this is my favorite Killer's song.
I used to listen to them when I was a teen and now that I am 27 I can´t help to feel this heavy black nostalgia of the "better times" time ago... their music makes me remeber old friends, old places, old plans, old expectations and old way to view life. thats when you realize that music is ART.
Really? Try turnin sixty f'n three !
You’re still too young for that feeling! Don’t fear…. The 30s are where it’s at!
This beautiful little gem has carried me through many times, good and bad. Major kudos to The Killers and everything they are about.
“the battle is won.. with all these things I’ve done”
I’m sure I’m simply interpreting it wrong but that always seems like the most logical answer. The more I grow in my own faith, the more I see the biblical message in The Killers music.
It's legit.
this song can be anything you want it to be
Classic still amazing in 2023. The Killers are legends one of my favorite bands
So many happy memories, happy as hell but painful to remember at the same time. Miss my country....
I feel ya bro! Nostalgia hits me when i listen to this song, but that's how memories work, the happier the memory the painful if it is to remember it, you can almost feel sorry for your own self...
Easily one of their best songs ever. Hands down
For some reason, “I’ve got soul, but I’m not a soldier” and finally getting the “all these things that I’ve done” are the parts that make this song for me.
ah man. i'm nearly 40 and was in my early 20s when this song was new ... time flys
Where has it gone brother.... Hope all is well my man
Same here, enjoy it while it’s here brothers.
Tell me about it! I turned 4o in December.
Cool
45 here. It’s tough. My kids are older, oldest is 25. He loves this song. Well, 15 years to retirement. I gotta help me out.
i need direction to perfection!!! i love their music!! this is just so good
Gd Flo oh yeah! They are good xD
Gd Flo Same here. I don't like any other song by these guys but I like this one. I like heavier stuff normally. This one is just pretty catchy.
I’m here because the world is going to hell in a hand basket, and I need to see and hear something that won’t make me cry. Thank you to The Killers. You guys make me smile. 🙂
Reading the stories of humanity somehow is still making me cry tho...
Que pedazo de canción hizo The Killers 🖤
Personalmente mi favorita 🖤
