Agreed 100%. Chuck could blend absolute tonal, pitch, and timing excellence with soul and love for the music. I'm aware of no other jazz player who has managed that to the extent Chuck did, as they almost never go together. Chuck's playing was, IMHO, a gift from God.

I didn't know the drummer wrote Argentina. As a side note, I actually prefer this version to the original (studio) version by quite a bit. This is an amazing version of Argentina, indeed.
An absolutely "soul" lifting experience! This is what "MUSIC" is to me! Music has never, nor will it ever TELL ME A LIE! If you can't play, We'll "all' know right away! NO DOUBT! In the world of music I can have EXPECTATIONS that will ALWAYS BE MET! When I listen to JAMES BROWN, TOWER OF POWER, THE METERS, I CAN EXPECT TO HEAR THE "FUNKIEST" GROOVES known to mankind, When I listen to FOURPLAY I can expect and prepare myself to listen to most of the cuts over & over again and everytime I hear the same tune, I KNOW I'm going to hear something I missed the first, second, third, forth and so on, time around! MUSIC NEVER HAS AND NEVER WILL LET ME DOWN OR LEAVE ME HANGING! BUT IT ALWAYS LEAVES ME WANTING "MORE!!!!"
Harvey Mason is phenomenal here … his control is off the scale … and credit to the engineers … you can hear every note, no matter how quiet, even the ghost notes …

Kudos to the video and recording engineers for capturing every nuance and the synergy of these Fourplay musicians and the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. It's like being in the audience. I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to see Nathan East live in action when he accompanied Eric Clapton in a concert in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia many many years ago...yes! He brought along his electric double bass...while then I was a big fan of Eric Clapton but seeing Nathan playing for the first time it made me a fan of his for life.
One of the best groups of all time, and each one of them individually, are one of the best of all time on the instrument that they play. They also compliment each other, and each one of them, are amoust the best of the best on the instrument that they play. And together, they are hard to beat, and I don't think that they can be beat .

But not for the untimely death of Chuck Loeb that drew me to the youtube channel and "Live in Tokyo", All I can say is thanks.

I grew up on the east side of Buffalo, NY listening to pop and rock music in the 1980s and then R&B music and then hip hop in my teens. When I moved to Charlotte, NC for my undergraduate studies in the mid-1990s, I discovered Fourplay and I've loved these guys ever since - all versions with Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton and Chuck Loeb. They are musical geniuses.
Every time I play this concert ! Whether deep in thought , focused on late night course , project or sales proposal or quarterly business review that has both fear and urgency , or being romantically engaged, or sad, or feeling melancholy!! This concert lifts me up, keeps me inspired really get it done , and always stimulates or initiates a return to joy and wholeness - and no fear ! Bob James’s his musical arrangements (from thevtaxi car tv series theme song) up to now are inspired by the Holy Spirit- a gift from God that lifts our souls

Imagine the feeling of being that good, knowing yourself, you're that good and everybody else knowing you're that good, including your, highly skilled, classical peers. A feeling that very few experience but demonstrated here with humble generosity.

This concert although made in 2013 is excellent quality both in music selection but also picture quality.. The Japanese Orchestra is superb.
I'm a 72 year of male that fell in love with each and every note played in the video. I have all the Fourplay and Chuck Loeb albums so at one time or another I've heard each composition. But not for the untimely death of Chuck Loeb that drew me to the youtube channel and "Live in Tokyo", All I can say is thanks.

This concert in Tokyo by Fourplay is awesome, especially listening to this concert with headphones.
No modern headphones would ever beat an old-style Hi-Fi sound system with classic audiophile speakers.

I grew up on the east side of Buffalo, NY listening to pop and rock music in the 1980s and then R&B music and then hip hop in my teens. When I moved to Charlotte, NC for my undergraduate studies in the mid-1990s, I discovered Fourplay and I've loved these guys ever since - all versions with Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton and Chuck Loeb. They are musical geniuses.

Whether deep in thought , focused on late night course , project or sales proposal or quarterly business review that has both fear and urgency , or being romantically engaged, or sad, or feeling melancholy!! This concert lifts me up, keeps me inspired really get it done , and always stimulates or initiates a return to joy and wholeness - and no fear ! Bob James’s his musical arrangements (from thevtaxi car tv series theme song) up to now are inspired by the Holy Spirit- a gift from God that lifts our souls

To me, this was and always will be one of the best bands. Whether it was Lee Ritenour or Larry Carlton, the music is always top notch. It's a pity that already Chuck Loeb has left us.

Yes, for sure miss Larry Carlton's guitar sound that he brought in to the group early on. His talent in Four Play helped establish their wonderful, distinguished sound!

I love this band. Bob James has been my favorite pianist for 40 years, and these guys together are just awesome. I can't say enough about the proficiency of each!

Imagine the feeling of being that good, knowing yourself, you're that good and everybody else knowing you're that good, including your, highly skilled, classical peers. A feeling that very few experience but demonstrated here with humble generosity.

As good as it gets. Pure jazz history. This performance is a perfect blend of jazz masters who take turns steppin up and killin it. Bob j and Chuck shine bright but Harvey and Nathan are right there too.
