Clapton, bplays blues, blues rock, pyschedelic blues, rock, jazz, slow songs, country songs, what can this guy not do.I cant see any guitarist as versatile as him.Hes easily the goat
Had no idea this even existed, thanks UA-cam. Love Eric Clapton, fantastic to watch him in superb musical company doing something completely different, an early Christmas present!
It is brilliant to see how Clapton navigates through the style which he has never played. It means you can stay who you are and articulate your brilliance. Just one strat, only one pedal, only one scale but touches your deepest feelings.
E.C-His rythmical guitar playing was just like watch and great vibe too. He is a real supernatural powerman. versatile player of all time. He doesn’t care about any genre of music. amazing!
We know Eric's heart 'n' Soul is in the Blues but he really is shining here , he doesn't think of himself as a jazz player but, Damn ! . (We have to remember where it all came from) .
Hey there, this is Great Music! The Kings of their respective music and they all play together for the best in Jazz, Rock and Blues. This concert should have been another 2 hours long with Mr. Sample playing his "Crusaders" grooving hits, of course have Mr. Sanborn belt out all of his fantastic smooth and classic Jazz while Mr. Clapton brings it all in the show with some of his best Blues and Rock, while Steve and Marcus just provide that funky back beat. I wish everyone in the World can see and hear this special event, please tell the young ones to watch and enjoy. May God Bless all of these Masters of Music and their families! Peace and Love!
❤ anyone under 60 this what true music is. The best musican of all time Eric Clapton and one of my favorite drummers Steve Gadd. .mI beleive David Sanborn on sax. My point is Eric Clapton started all of this . He plays music that anyone who listens can relate to. This man and his bands throughout his career are the best . Thank you.❤ Forever Fan ♥
I first heard Steve Gadd on Al Di Meola's "Elegant Gypsy." I was Gaddified from then on! 🥁 I was a fan of Joe Sample and the Crusaders, Chain Reaction! 🎹 I can't remember where I first heard Marcus. I guess with Miles Davis. A constellation on bass! 🔊 ✨️ David Sanborn has played with so many people. Stunning. 🎷 The guy on guitar looks kind of familiar. He's not too shabby on the six string, electric and acoustic. 🎉 🎸 🎸
I’ve only ever seen snippets of this gig before. So glad that you’ve uploaded it. Thank you and now I have a perfect companion for the DVD that was released. Thanks!
This is a supergroup. They compliment each other so well. They should have recorded, or should now! 🎉 At least UA-cam is here! What should they be called? 🕉
Hahaha pentatonic noodler but sold over 290 million records in his career. This was a step outside his comfort zone for sure, but his name fills the room. He also employs all these Jazz/Fusion Kings in his own band, paying them handsomely. There’s a reason they end the set with Layla…..
If you just heard pentatonic scales in his playing, you’re the one who needs to train your ears better… I’ve used to jam all the time over a bootleg version of this same video and ended up learning all the head melodies and a lot from Clapton’s solos as well. For a start, when he uses pentatonic scales (he actually uses the blue notes, so it’s technically an hexatonic scale), he always mix major and minor blues scales, generating a scale with root, 2, b3, 3(when it’s a major key), 4, b5, 5, 6, b7, plus he adds the b6 from aeolian in minor songs and the major 7 as a chromatic run from b7 to the root. That’s all the notes in the chromatic scale except the b2. Besides the fact that most of these melodies are diatonic. 11 notes, plus microtonal bending, so WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT, DUDE???!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Joe got his “S” everywhere but one spot, right? Typos happen, you can let them know, the website is listed. How did you like the music? (*capital s, not capital-S. But who’s counting…)
GREAT band backing the most overrated guitarist of all time - I’m not trolling, expressing an honest opinion. Imagine this same band with Keb Mo, Buddy Guy (RIP) … ?
Top-notch musicians like Steve Gadd and this band member understand Eric's talent and have admired it for decades, but the paradox is that the middle-aged, self-proclaimed jazz drummer is say clapton is overrated. It's like you're introducing yourself as an underdog trash musician who is the exact opposite of a top-notch musician like Gadd, do you notice? Is it impossible with that IQ?
who overrated him ?? the guys playing with him ? no.......Wynton Marasalis who invited him too ? no....BB King ? no........................so S....your mouth and learn..................

Carlos Santana and Jeff Beck have my vote too! Have you seen the tour in 2010 that Jeff and Eric did together?
Outstanding.
Had no idea this even existed, thanks UA-cam. Love Eric Clapton, fantastic to watch him in superb musical company doing something completely different, an early Christmas present!
Ditto. 💯 % awesomeness 👌 👏 👍
Clapton rhythm playing its outstanding. Fits these tunes perfectly.
He followed and learnt from the outstanding players.
@@lighttothelife ???
Nice to see Clapton as a band member for a change, rather than a band leader - he does really well with a group of jazz greats :)
It is brilliant to see how Clapton navigates through the style which he has never played. It means you can stay who you are and articulate your brilliance. Just one strat, only one pedal, only one scale but touches your deepest feelings.
Only one scale?
Try: major scales in any key, minor scales in any key, and the blues scale. 🎸 🎶 🎉 🕉

That's why Ginger Baker once said he and Jack Bruce think Eric is a jazz player because "jazz and blues are the same thing."
Love the way Marcus gravitates closer to the drums through the show.

David Sanborn did the Lethal Weapon soundtrack and I assume it was Marcus Miller on bass.
КРУТО... СПАСИБО
Do you guys know the song that starts at the 16:50 mark? If it's ruthie, who wrote/sang that song originially?

Four TOP Jazz\Fusion Kings ….. and a 5 Tone Pentatonic Noodler….
How come these TOP musicians accepted to play with the noodler? A mystery. isn t it...Or maybe you re just deaf

@fabiodwyer8964 I 'm a guitarist too. I approve this message.
Just as David Sanborn! Both are brilliant here!!!!
That's a "bass" clarinet Marcus Miller is playing.
Snakes @ 22:00 …. Stole the show
Is Joe only sampled,
or would he deserve a capital-S?
Sloppy.
Joe got his “S” everywhere but one spot, right? Typos happen, you can let them know, the website is listed.
How did you like the music?
(*capital s, not capital-S. But who’s counting…)
Pretty slow grouving for these old crap
Unfortunately that coat was too big for Eric!
And Clapton allways noodles thePentatonic…..😉
He can play just one tone and be better than anyone else. More of them can play hundreds of scales and play nothing.
@ no!

The band must hold him in high regard to have him in it. There is a reason why Clapton is revered by many greats including those names mentioned.

It s just your opinion
EC plays circles around Buddy Guy, on several occasions. What a stupid thing to say.
