Loved this steakhouse. I (Red) love steak, any type of steak. Great history of the steakhouse. You had a great meal. Very reasonable price for a delicious meal and a fun time with friends. I miss sitting by the bar as well and just relaxing and chatting with friends. 👍#16
We were really afraid it might not come back or it might get changed into something different so it was a great relief to see everything running as usual... minus being told what we were going to order 😀
New sub here. This takes me back nearly 20 years. I used to love going to this place just to see and be served by Miss Dottye. The fact that there was so much good food (would kill for some of their mushrooms and a "big one" right now) was just lagniappe. Also, it was always fun to bring first timers with us and we'd tell them, "be sure to ask for a menu as soon as we get in." :)

You all conquered the mountain of onion rings! Looked delicious. Wish there was such a thing as smell-evision. Nice hat by the way... Interesting way of celebrating Mardi Gras this year with "float" houses. I think it's certainly inventive. At one time I lived where Zulu rolled close to my front door. This year will be a teeny bit quieter!
I lived around the corner from the Rex mansion that burned down so that was and is so sad. This will be my second Carnival not being as close as that and now I am nearer Magazine Street but the sounds and excitement will be missed. The hat is fun 😀
Yes, very sad to hear it. What a beautiful building. I never observed the colorful toasts. But I imagine it was really something to behold. It seems like Magazine's always a good time!
The changes are awfully sad. The videos in which you pay homage to the close of these sentimental and special businesses make me cringe at the loss. But I am grateful to you for documenting their passing.

I miss Miss Dottye! It isn't quite as unique and fun without her there these days but still a great NOLA spot that is uniquely New Orleans.

I don’t think those paintings are faded with age. They are coated with tobacco smoke and could be cleaned and restored.
