    The one thing I really like is that there aren't really that many bosses that are walling off content in this DLC, it just looks like they are. If you want you can collect most of the Scadutree Fragments before taking on any of the bosses, and you can explore 90% of the map by finding backroads that bypass bosses like Rellana. So the world is your oyster and the majority of the remeberance bosses are optional in this DLC. I think only 2 of them are mandatory in order to face off against the final boss.
    Also both the base game and DLC have a lot of options to make the challenge of this DLC way more manageable, even against the absolutely ridiculous final boss. Experiment with your build, talismans, and consumable items and see what works against certain bosses. Heck have fun exploring the DLC because this world map is probably the best one From Software have made to date with so much verticality and diversity in environments and aesthetic.

    About the huge fire monsters roaming, i tried to fight it once, barely did damage, and realised there must be a more efficient way to deal with them. So now having played a bit more of the DLC, I actually found a recipe that can help kill them :)
    So yeah if an opponent just feels like a giant pool of health, something is definitely off.

    • @JMulls
      @JMulls  13 днів тому

      The other point is that if you hit them enough you knock them down to stagger them but yeah even then it's kind of just a bleh fight but it's not like it's a boss or anything. I view it in the same light as those giant stone guys that shoot arrows at you where you hit their ankles till they fall over

    I think there are a lot of valid criticisms of ER and the DLC tbh. One if them is definitely that we have reached the level of arbitrarily overly difficult for difficulty's sake to appease a small group of sadists.

      I completely disagree. I don’t think it’s quite that hard, and it still feels tasteful to me. But I’m also not a whimp so maybe that’s where we differ

    I'm not going to be that guy, but git gud😅
    Elden Ring is meant to be hard, as someone who is currently playing through the game and 60% Done (Just beat Godskin Duo) and the difficulty is the best part of the experience so far.
    From what I've heard, and played of the base game, the DLC gives you PLENTY of options to progress your character, and even though it's not fun, there is always the option to grind for runes or other upgrades, or just use magic or summons😅

      I think the DLC is def a step up in difficulty compared to the base game but I wouldn't call it unfair either. Just a faster pace sometimes and you HAVE to be on your toes. There's a bit of a learning curve as you become accustomed to "oh im no longer overleveled/overpowered like I prob was in the base game with this character... I have to go back to kind of that level 1 mentality and mind everything." Been really enjoying it so far though

    I left a negative review because im tired of boss's attacking me before im even through the fog wall. Let me get started at least. I think the devs took too much DNA from sekiro and just keep making the game faster and faster.

Had 3 frames to dodge the first strike before it hit, and no, this wasn't a one off (took 5 tries to beat him, he launched it 4 of the five tries).
      unlike the base game, the dlc has no hard coding in the rng attack patterns for the initial 3 second pause when entering fog gate, amongst other changes. So whether or not a boss instantly uses a ranged against you as soon as you activate the fog gate is really up to chance of how far away the boss starts and whether it has a ranged attack for that distance or must close distance first.

    Respec not being free is the worst choice they made, beacuse it limits an option to engage with the difficulty. Its ok to leave a bad or good review based on the experience you have , its completely subjective.

    • @syminite1
      @syminite1 14 днів тому +1

      Yes but leaving bad reviews because the game is hard is dumb. Thats the same as badly reviewing a mario game because you have to "Jump".

    • @paytonmclean6442
      @paytonmclean6442 14 днів тому

      @syminite1 difficulty is subjective, and therefore is a valid complaint on a individual level. Which is what reviews encapsulate, a personal outlook on a given experience. We don't have to agree on the perspective but to say it is some how less valid than an opposing position is false.

      @@paytonmclean6442 After playing the base game???? I dont think it is. Melania is harder than all these dlc bosses save for the last one, Mohg was tough as hell too and you had to beat him just to play the dlc, sounds to me like people thought they were gonna breeze thru this dlc because they did it in the reg game, and when they get "asses handed", they wanna cry foul.
      Fromsoftware ALWAYS makes a tough, difficult, game for the tenacious gamers who love tough challenges and bosses, if the dlc is too hard for people then this aint their game.

      @@paytonmclean6442difficulty isn’t completely subjective, certain things like boss damage and hp, movesets are very much calculable. But you’re also probably a part of the generation where everything is “my truth” so of course you would say that difficulty is subjective.

    • @paytonmclean6442
      @paytonmclean6442 13 днів тому

      @austins.2495 it is in fact subjective , all of those parameters do not necessarily reflect an objective measurement on the individual level. What you may say makes something harder may not be true for everyone else. You can say hp or moveset makes the boss hard for you, but another person may not share the outlook. In order for difficulty to not be subjective you must show a standard that can be measured against for all people at all times. Ex. The boss max hp is 100, that is an objective standard set by the game. The boss hp is too much making him too hard, is a claim with no way to measure except through personal experience. BTW the claim that a generation of people only believe something due to when they were born is classified as the genetic fallacy.

It's really really hard and I keep saying I hate this game but I keep playing because I know I don't hate it. I sometimes just want to progress. It depends on context, but just because something is punishing and hard doesn't make it engaging and fun, just with Fromsoft I tend to find their style of punishing and difficult game design to be fun and engaging cause they are good at overall design.
      For instance I'm on Rellana right now and I was stuck on dancing lion, both are really hard for me and my build but they are both well designed. Cut over to Dark Souls 2 and the design overall is far more lazy and designed simply to be hard without what made DS1 and 3 so good.

    This is 2024, in the last 5 years, how many games have come out for PC that didn't have some degree of initial performance issues?
    And i mean this content is basically it's own game
    If theres still performance issues in a month, then i can see it being a complaint, but these days, with games being so easy to patch it should be expected that PC optimization comes after launch and its being run on all the hardware setups.
    No, i dont like that games arent perfectly optimized at launch, but hardware variety in the pc market is much broader than it was when the 1080ti released
    It's just not feasible to assume the game will run perfectly on your hardware at launch, even if youre cooking on a 2k GPU

      It's not if you're dying on the last 10% of a boss, that you've been dying to for the last 3-4 hours, because the game stuttered and your character delayed their dodge, and then died.
