Main difference between James Randi and Car Haig is that I don't remember Randi being nearly as aggressive or rude. There was always something classy and gentle about Randi's approach. He made it clear that he didn't hate anyone and he didn't hate tricks or illusions; his issue was with the harm it did to those who were getting taken advantage of, and his campaign was against people who used their performances maliciously. If someone like Uri Geller wasn't using his spoon-bending and psychic claims to leach money out of vulnerable people and convince them they could solve all their struggles by just believing hard enough, he'd never have had beef with the guy. James Randi could respect a good showman. He didn't like showmen who caused actual harm.
I think they implied the debunking ass was hypnotizing everyone, even the at home viewers, and even breaking the 4th wall.... He said something along the lines of "make sure the camera can see this" regarding his lil pocket watch spiral thingy.... I just remember thinking "oh they're supposed to be hypnotizing me too eh" .... I loved the flick, and you're spot on as always, about the lightning and all that...Would have been far creepier without that... Great vid, Bee!!!
I had to go back and watch the video again since it’s getting close to Halloween. The humor is what makes the channel, and I hope you are successful enough to live a sweet life man.
This is a good, solid horror film, but not the classic that some are making it out to be. Your review (and Red Letter Media) is the most fair and balanced that I’ve seen. The film was kind of spoilt for me as other reviews had set my expectations too high, so when it got rather goofy (when the demon appears) I was pulled out of the movie. Though the moment Carmichael flips is when I got straight back into it; that for me was the highlight of the film. Absolute banger of a moment.
I’ve watched this movie three times now, that’s just how much I enjoy it! I was iffy on the end the first time but by my third viewing I’ve come around to it. I’d rather it end on a nightmare explainer than the goofy static demon face we see before that. I also liked the electricity effects; the demon was messing with electricity the whole night, it made sense to me the thing went all out channeling it at the end. I think the possession genre is really tired and boring now, this movie’s premise finally made it fun. It wasn’t spooky, but I don’t need horror movies to be spooky. There were still some good disturbing parts and enough tension to keep me glued to the tv.
We’ll be right back, or sorry experiencing technical difficulties. Would be the subliminal clue that this is a recording of a TV show, or else the “found footage “ premise is just going to be broken. But in the meantime the story is ok and has a interesting plot twist.
I watched this as soon as it dropped on shudder it held my attention the whole time I loved the 70’s aesthetic I agree they nailed it. The ending was cool too how it was his own personal hell basically just to be shown stabbing Lilly on live tv. He’s gonna be famous alright but for all the wrong reasons. I hope horror keeps it up with interesting ways of making everyday things like a tv show into something sinister and scary. 🖤 8/10 easy for me
Solid review! If you haven’t yet I highly recommend two films that are very similar in tone to Late Night which are Ghostwatch & WNUF Halloween Special. Like Late Night, both movies are about a “live” television broadcast on Halloween night where by the end everything goes horribly wrong.
I got an amc+ free trial to watch it (tip for watching it for free). It felt far too slow and then shoved to horror within the last 30 minutes and the last 15 flipped to almost comedic horror. Wish they went more into Jack's association with Mr Wriggles a bit more.
The conclusion I came to was that the broadcast itself is cursed. Whether that’s a cheat or not is up to the viewer I guess. I loved the film regardless.
Vomited all over the skeptic good lol Lilly is awesome so creepy so chill and so hilarious when possessed and dam he'll broke loose at end lol awesome version of Carrie lol
Yeah i didn't like the ending either. The lightning and going in to his weird dream. They do start out telling us this is how it was aired and kind of bail on that at the end. Everything up to the end was great though. The setting, how with every guest the story moved along. All the actors were great. Gus, Carr and Kristou were all fantastically casted. I would give it 4 out of 5 too. As a horror movie though i'd only give a 2 out of 5.
The only thing i hated about this movie is the "James Randi" character. James Randi was an outstanding human being who provided an essential service to society by demolishing all these charlatans. It really speaks volumes about our society that we consider people who would tell you the truth as cynics, while worshipping scammers and obvious frauds. Other than that the movie is great.
I watched the movie before the review and it started off REALLY strong. I thought it was going to be amazing but I don't think they went far enough. After that, third act really fell flat. Maybe it was the severe lack of sound design which, again, sucks because the acting was so good. 5/10 movie, they just didn't utilise the tools they were given.
Yea I felt it was a solid horror movie as well. I mean I get the worm part and the explaining how Jack did make a deal and all, it was just a bit off. Other than that it was great. Hypnosis is like that as far as the worms go, only the people who got hypnotized are going to see anything and even that may vary with more than one person but I get what the film was going for.
I think the hypnosis is supposed to affect the viewer of the movie as well-as in we were hypnotised alongside the characters, which is why we saw the worms...when he released it,we were 'able' to see how it really went down The main characters and most likely the studio audience are also watching through a screen so the movie viewers cand be hypnotised with them-which they said in the movie "i hope the audience will go along as well" or something like that
I really liked the movie for just being something new and original. The story is extremely simple, but the 70s late night show "gimmick" gave it life and gravitas. It felt different and interesting, because we know the beats of sh!tty modern horror, and we also know how old horror felt like, and how creepiness is more effective than spectacle in the genre. This felt much creepier than usual horror, which is definitely a good thing. Far from perfect, but definitely interesting.
Thanks God you saved me from these accepted mundane , anal , proventale weird films for dog or cat enthusiasts . I'm recovering from a shoulder replacement & your work lightens my day !
I was really on board with it, up until the whole lightnings-head splits in half thing happened, like… it was too goofy and just, too unbelievable in a movie that up until that point was trying to sell you the idea that this all happened live on tv 💀 And yeah i also had to wrap my head around the idea that this isn’t really supposed to be found footage, like i kept wondering why would someone be filming all the behind the scenes tea/drama like that 🤣 and no one stops them
Sooo. Heard a massive amount of positive reviews for this movie and was really excited to watch it. Turns out it was pretty so so. And by so so i mean i dont think most people will feel the need to watch it more than once. Not bad but definitely overrated if you're going off review consensus.
Absolutely. Loved the 70s late night talk show/ Halloween esthetic and the girl was very creepy at times but quite a few films nowadays try too hard to reach that "high art" type thing and it really brought this one down for me.
"He has yet to have given that money away" you say that like he refused to give the money, when in reality no one has ever proven him wrong. Nevermind that he's been dead a couple years
I think the “debunking guy” is based on James Randi. He used to go on these shows and debunk psychics and fortune tellers like this guy in the movie.
yep he references it.

He was the main one that debunked Ed and Lorraine Warren(The Conjuring) back in the day.
Yes, but charming.

I'm gonna love this. I'm 59 and I watched all those shows as a kid!! Thank you! You always brighten up my day! You rock!

James Randy is a legend, I will have no bad-mouthing him.
Same here. Dude has done a LOT to debunk fraudsters and users.
Watched this on Saturday and I really enjoyed it.

One of my favorite takes I’ve seen is that this is the first big produced ARG, also very mature take at the end ❤
LET'S GOOOOO I wanted you to review this so bad
Solid review!
If you haven’t yet I highly recommend two films that are very similar in tone to Late Night which are Ghostwatch & WNUF Halloween Special. Like Late Night, both movies are about a “live” television broadcast on Halloween night where by the end everything goes horribly wrong.
You might like The Last Broadcast 1998
The lightning and fire reminded me of carrie that was horror too lol
I got an amc+ free trial to watch it (tip for watching it for free). It felt far too slow and then shoved to horror within the last 30 minutes and the last 15 flipped to almost comedic horror.
Wish they went more into Jack's association with Mr Wriggles a bit more.
Same for me. It didn’t grab me. People are raving about great this movie is but it was okay.
this is one of the best movie review channels. thank you!
James Randi is a legend! Dude has done so much good work exposing professional scam artists. World needs more people like him!
The very end.....chef's kiss!!!🤣
Thanks for the video bud Have a good week
Yay! I love your reviews! 😊
Glad you like them!
I like that Michael Ironside did that narration at the beginning of the movie.
Yes! It's Newbee!!!
The conclusion I came to was that the broadcast itself is cursed. Whether that’s a cheat or not is up to the viewer I guess. I loved the film regardless.
Man David Dastmalchian just kills in everything he’s in!
My late night started with Nick at night. You had a crazy childhood. Lol
Okay the chicken clucking made me laugh 😂
Vomited all over the skeptic good lol Lilly is awesome so creepy so chill and so hilarious when possessed and dam he'll broke loose at end lol awesome version of Carrie lol

Awesome video ❤
I expected more , wasn't there a short movie like this 😊😊
I like this movie a lot too, and yes Conan has always been my favorite!
The only thing i hated about this movie is the "James Randi" character. James Randi was an outstanding human being who provided an essential service to society by demolishing all these charlatans. And ready to worship the devil at the proof of his existence!
@@theNewBee 😂 I found that part hilarious tho

Leaving a like and a comment because I didn't watch the movie yet, can't wait to watch the review 😆
The lightning was a low point.
Great review as always, I liked this film, not amazing but it kept me entertained 🎉

Very good review!!✨ Love this 🎥 movie!!✨
02:55 what a beautiful girl
One of the best horror films this year.
bot
What? I'm being serious.
Interesting movie. Reminds me of a late version of Mike Douglas.
I thought this was going to be a first time watching couldn't see the whole title lol
Thanks God you saved me from these accepted mundane , anal , proventale weird films for dog or cat enthusiasts .
I'm recovering from a shoulder replacement & your work lightens my day !
I really enjoyed this movie. It was a bunch of fun.
6:45 (Sigh) oh no ,really? 😂😂
Saw this over the weekend. Thought it was really well done, and much better than many of the other 'over-hyped' recent horror/thriller movies.
Its sensational this is a classic 👌
This movie was cool flawless I think lol
Oh boy, New🐝 getting a few stings in on James Randi (I think?)
Are you partial to the paranormal Bee?
this movie was awesome
I enjoyed it a lot, just the ending was disappointing for me.
Ill help put the channel and subscribe and comment my heart out lol

❤
I thought it was a good movie with a bad ending. So it left me disappointed. Acting was great though.

Yea it's not the movie you didn't like it initially it's yours lol cool recap lol
Liked the movie, but the ending sucked more than that wooden reindeer from The Ritual.
Not a fan of the movie
"He has yet to have given that money away" you say that like he refused to give the money, when in reality no one has ever proven him wrong.
Nevermind that he's been dead a couple years
I mean how would we know, most of his tests happened behind closed doors, they weren’t televised or publicised…
Guys, don't pay for the movies. Hollywood hates you.
I wish I had saved my $14.99 buying this movie and my time I lost watching it. Zero stars.
More like late night with the mid
Boo.
Yeah, after seeing this review I am glad I did not pay to see this movie.
Omg me too just didn’t hit it for me wasn’t that creepy or scary
@@robbyrobait’s ok calm down
