When this movie came out, my aunt's neighbor's tarantula escaped and was running loose somewhere. They weren't sure if it had made it outside, but it was not the best timing.

My mother decided we should watch this movie whilst in a holiday home that was full of spiders. Sleeping on the top bunk, closest to the webs every night after was traumatic. As an Aussie, I always check my shoes before putting them on. I even had a white tail crawl across my pillow last week. I'm a lot less scared these days, but that did make me scream just like the burning spiders in this movie.

in 3rd grade we had a class tarantula and I was determined to be the hardest girl in class. Turns out, Valarie was a lovely friend and fixed me of spider-fear for life. Now I look forward to my accidental roomates. as someone with houseplants, their work is appreciated.

That spider in the shower thing happened to me a few years ago in our downstairs shower. I was shampooing my hair, looked down, and saw a gigantic black spider not three inches from my foot. I panicked and smashed tf out of it with the shampoo bottle. Ever since then I've used our upstairs shower. There's something about being in the shower that already makes you feel extra vulnerable, and then to add one of your worst fears on top of that is just... **shudder**
Your commentary is always so hilarious, like MST3K-tier. This is one of those movies that always gives me the bad creepy crawlies, and every little thing brushing against me is suddenly a deadly spider out for my blood.

This happened to me, but the spider was on my shampoo bottle & I picked it up & felt something under my finger on the back of the bottle, turned it over and saw a MASSIVE huntsman spider pinned under my finger. I SCREAMED, threw the bottle & ran out of the shower. My sister came running & found me pale, wet, shaking & crying 😭 I am still traumatized. I live in Australia, our huntsman spiders are terrifying.

Watching this movie a few years after it came out when I was a kid was one of those experiences that put me off horror movies until well into adulthood lol. It just scared me THAT much. 😅
Horror eventually became my favorite genre, though, and going back and watching this movie again is an absolute delight. It's just a good fun time - like your videos. 👍
    Thanks for another good one!

I love this film! Julian was wonderful, the spider effects were wonderful. Would we be as scared if they were a pretty colour? Um, yes, they’re sinister little effers! Great review, I wanna watch it again…..from a distance😉Edit thank you for what you said about Julian Sands, I love him too. R.I.P.🙏❤️

I do really like spiders (though I've been around Huntsmen & Daddy Long Legs, primarily, which are harmless), so this movie doesn't bother me. But I do give mad respect to Julian Sands with that corpse shot, cause I don't think I did be able to not move with little spiders crawling all over my face!
On that note, Julian Sands was a terrific actor, with tons of varied roles all played to perfection. You actually introduced me to him with your Boxing Helena review, so thanks a lot. I'm still sad he's gone, but his work at least will live on.

I have had arachnaphobia ever since I was a toddler, but Arachnaphobia is STILL one of my top 3 favorite movies ever! Yeah, my skin crawls the whole time I'm watching it, as well as during this whole review (and whilst I'm writing this comment *scratch scratch*), but that's the draw! Horror movies are supposed to scare you! And this movie takes it! John Goodman is such a legend, and his performance deserved an award! He totally SHOULD HAVE gotten his own spin off movie, if not movie series!!! This was an awestome review, like usual! You are so entertaining with your commentary, but my FAVORITE part of this particular review was reading all of the comments to see all of the crazy spider stories people left there! They are so good!!! Lol!!! Now if you will excuse me, I need to go find a back scratcher...and some spider spray...

This is one of the best reviews you have ever done! The riffs and the sound bites were all right on point!
I've never seen the movie myself (Why? Answer in the title), but your review showed me more than enough!
I saw "Kingdom of the Spiders" back in '81, and it took me years to finally get to the point where I could fall asleep without twitching at every itch, tickle, and touch from my bed covers!
Lived in Indonesia for 7 years and quickly learned to check my shoes for huntsman and cane spiders!
Last summer, I was visiting my hometown and walking in the park. There was an orb weaver spider hanging from its strand from a tree situated well enough for me to take a picture of it and make it look just like the poster for this film!
Finally, on a tangentially related note, I watched this with my breakfast: oatmeal that was infested by weevils! Took as many out as I could! Not thinking about how many I probably ate anyway!
    Again, great review! 👍🏻

I nearly went on a course for arachnophobes at my local zoo many years ago, where you undergo "flooding", or exposure therapy, by interacting with tarantulas. I think the idea was that if you stay in the presence of your fear for a prolonged period of time, eventually your body stops reacting to it? Idk. I didn’t go through with it (as evidenced by the fact that I even became short of breath just now merely by typing the word "tarantula" - aarrgghh!!!), because I was convinced that whatever happened on that course, somehow my day at the zoo would end exactly like the plot of Arachnophobia, with me being overrun with spiders leaping at my face and me setting them on fire!🕷️🔥
