I would rather run conventional and change it more often since I do it myself. Just not convinced synthetic is worth the cost difference personally. If I was paying labor for someone else to do it then I might try synthetic, if I get a new 24 I might but I been running this oil since the first service.
Hey Man Mountain Mike, have you considered installing a oil filter relocation kit on your bike? It makes changing oil much easier and less messy. It also helps to cool down the oil temperature. I run one on my RK and love it.
I tried to do this on my road king. Got all the funnels and drain pans ready to roll, cleared my saturday so I would have plenty of time to baby-step through it (I've never been the type to do my own vehicle maintenance, but want to change that). I got everything set up, and got down under the bike and found that whoever had done the last oil change on it (before I bought it), apparently had the forearm strength of 19 gorillas. They had wrenched the drain plug down so tight, I could not get it to budge, my impact driver could not get it to budge, I borrowed a breaker bar from a neighbor and I still could not get it to budge. I took it to my local dealer, and had them do it. No idea what they had to do to loosen that thing.
@@claytongibson2474 that is very concerning, I would ask the dealer and be concerned someone used something like JB weld because normally it would strip if you over tighten it. I wonder is previous owner did something like that then used a pump to siphon the old oil out?

TY for the info. One other question, how tall are your handle bars ??? I’m going to get a set soon (2021 Street Glide) and I am trying to figure out some sizes by looking at your bike.

Another good video, thanks Mike
I’m not the friend you were talking about, but I do need a Let’s Roll dolly&jack.
Thanks for the video. I have a couple more oil changes left at my dealer after that it’s up to me.!!
Great game plan on oil/fluid changes, curious if you change the brake fluid too?? Thanks👍👍
I have not done it but should, I am actually planning to do a video on that in the next few months.
Nice lift. Good video. Don't see many people running the old dead dinosaur oil anymore these days!!!

@RidingintheOzarks Amen brother! Good oil is changed oil...
I got the Let's Roll dolly. It's great and I can move the bike around by myself.
That was a great video you made thank you
@@stevebeaudoin7234 thanks for taking the time to say so!

I have not. I may look into that, I can’t say I had even heard of this before
Good job on paying attention to detail👍
Great video, very thorough, I appreciate it!
Nice work on your p.m. Hope you had a great Sturgis trip
Great walkthrough!
Thanks!!

Ouch I just looked up the price of the dolly. $395 I’ll have to think about it for a while.
Enjoy the videos!!! Thanks
@@scott2228 yeah it’s not cheap but it is high quality. If you have multiple bikes and do your own maintenance it’s worth it to me.

Mine are 12’s
@@RidingintheOzarks TY Mike, I like the way they looked, especially with the hand guards.
@@brucesmith7858 the nice thing about 12’s are you don’t have to get new clutch or brake line, just wiring extensions
Good to know about a quality lift for the bike, what brand Torque wrench do you suggest?
I think My Ft-lbs one is craftsman that I have had for about 20 years, the in-lbs I bought recently and went with a lexivon from Amazon.

Do you not recommend changing the oil after the bike is warmed up? Or while cooling off after a 5 minute ride?
I usually do change it while the oil is warm just so it drains faster but I personally don’t think it makes a huge difference otherwise
Your opinion.
