In my opinion all they had to do was add random events into free roam where one or multiple trains, stagecoaches, boats, etc. would spawn in and players would have the opportunity to compete against each other or work together to rob these high value, well-defended targets for cash and gold, akin to the old armoured truck robberies and business battles in GTA Online. This would bring everyone back, because it’s literally exactly what everyone wanted.
Think about it, what random events are in RDO free roam? An occasional moonshine bootlegger mission, maybe a random bounty target (which pays less then normal bounties), or if you’re lucky you’ll get the millions-to-one odds of a chance encounter or gang hideout to spawn in a public lobby. In GTA public sessions you’d see a session-wide event or business battle spawn every 15 minutes, there’s always something to do. It makes the game feel more active and alive.

Imagine having a wild west game and not having a true bank robery missions pike in gtao. They couldve added cattle rustling, bank robbery, being a lawman, owning property instead of just a camp. Many missed opertunity for a game that was massive at launch the only fun way to play this now is rp servers

Imagine creating a role where you sedate and sample animals before you make a lawman role
Or a farmer/rancher type role. Or put out actual robbery heists

They should make a lawman and assassin role. For heist you could be a certain level to do a certain one or make it like GTAO.

24:40 FINALLY someone said this lol. I have absolutely no faith in GTA 6 Online. With how awful GTA 5: Online has gotten over the years and how mid the updates are and how awful the economy of RDR2 was in the beginning, I bet in GTA 6: Online we will have to pay at least 500k for a damn pistol and 1.2m for a 25 year old economy class car. It was painful to watch how my childhood franchise became a joke of itself and how much potential was left unrealized for RDR2.
I started playing gta online again and the economy isn’t bad at all. Everything is inflated but nothing is too expensive relative to how much money you can make. It used to take forever to make a million you can now just hop on maybe play an hour or two and you’ll have a million or more. It’s not that serious of a grind for the cars you or items you want. The only thing that sucks is bunker research.
Yep, I used to grind the shit out of GTA Online for years but as I am much older now will definitely no longer have the same willpower to do the same for GTA 6 Online.
@Drodz1030 Yeah, the gta online economy has seen better days, but it also has seen worse days, I even made around 10 million gta dollars doing absolutely nothing just a week ago, but what I meant was RDR2 economy was already bad from the beginning, way before players could make large sums of cash. I think the same will happen with GTA 6: Online, where it won't have those nice early days like GTA 5: Online had.
Im still hyped for gta 6 but hope it dont get outta hand with the online updates i mean if fallout 76 can do it i think gta can aswell what i mean fo76 is getting a massive map expansion so maybe thats something for a gta game a map expansion that would be totally different imagine us being able to go to liberty city with 4k textures that would be amazing

Rockstar really sucks to actually program there GAMEPLAY..
Its like it dosent have there focus at all.
Everything is more importent to them it seems, than making good gameplay and program things to be playable/fun..
Just made people ride/drive back and forwards and spawn enemies up in our face and let us go to yellow circles and push a button. Rockstars entire gameplay.
Red Dead Online is the sole reason i will not be buying GTA6, GTA7, RDR3 or any new or old ip Rockstar touches. I love Red Dead Online, i still play it to this day, and the only way i can forgive R* is if they comeback, fix and update RDO.
If they won't do that, then i'm done with them.

sadly, many of the remaining players being grifters who will shoot on sight because they got nothing better to do than forced pvp doesnt help the game, especially with the new player retention. i dont think the game has a future but i would be glad to be proven wrong

The same happend with ArmA and ArmA2....very good online games of its time, but with all the expansions that followed,
the fun was ruined by all these "new" online players with no sense of reasonable behavior. Every Player should get just one fixed IP.

The devs didn’t even try to make rdr good but the base mechanics of the game were already great.

I’ll buy 6 for the single player, I’ve dipped my toes in GTA online but I much preferred RDO, haven’t hopped on since early 2021 though and there’s not any new content I could really mess with so I haven’t hoped back on
I don't think there are that many players left in gta online, at least on PC. Any time I try to find a lobby, it is never full, doesn't even have 20ish players. Every time I try to find a survival, job, etc, it is always empty. Even though Grand Theft Auto V has 100k ish players on Steam, I don't think even 10k are playing gta online.

I'll play through the story, check out what kind of progress did rockstar make in 12 years (at least), and play like an hour of GTA 6: Online on my own and whenever my friends will invite me. If it's going to be another life service bs game with FOMO, Microtransactions and other awful tactics, I'm not going to even bother. I have 4TB of games I already want to play and I'm busy as is. I hope rockstar knows that the worship days are loooong gone and if they are going to deliver an awful product, no-one is going to stick around.
4. You're LYING about GTA 6
RDR is a much better game then GTA
My experience with Red Dead online for the most part has been 90% good. It's a game that I can relax and enjoy and just have fun going around doing simple things like looking for treasure, hunting animals and such.
It’s because of the community.
GTA has more shit to do and is technically “better” as a game because of that..but good luck doing any of the many things without getting griefed the second you step out of your house.
With RDO it’s lacking horrible in activities…but it’s very rare to find people who are just complete fucking assholes while doing things.
@@Just_Some_ClownYou are not forced to play on a public session, you can just create a private session and play with your friends without having to deal with griefers and cheaters. You can also do that in RDO, even tho its not official

With RDO I’ve had hundreds of interactions with randoms naturally in the world that have been super fun or funny.
In GTA I’ve had hundreds of interactions with randoms that have been annoying and make me wanna shoot myself…and maybe a handful with alright people at the very early days of its online.

I disagree. I think it easily could've been, but really, there is exponentially more content in any gta title. You can CLEARLY see left, right, and center where they cut content in rdr. I've never seen a game alluding to so much and delivering so little

The player base of GTA Online is easy to influence cuz its all a bunch of 8 to 15 year olds that like to use mom and dads creditcards to buy shark-cards so they can have more shit on GTA Online.

Only recently they fixed (or seem to have fixed) the stable glitch. That bug was present for +-2 years and nothing was done until around a month ago. It really feels like they care very little about RDO, and I'm glad we got them the 2023 Steam Awards 'Labor of Love', so they can put it where the sun doesn't shine
I came back for the recent update, lots of 2x exp, 2x $ and discounts. I had stopped playing in the past because of cheaters, but now I play in a solo lobby 👍

This is a good ass video. My only argument would be on the point of “Rockstar having to keep GTA 5 & Red Dead Online alive & working on GTA 6” bullshit. Only because two games are already completed. One had a lot of content. The other ones needs content. And GTA seems to be done or almost done. Also this a company that made billions of dollars working on multiple IPS at once for decades. They can definitely handle all of it since we gave them our money.

They could’ve just made a dedicated studio to both gta and red dead but I mean I don’t think they could have sustained both games. Mainly cause they are both competing with each other for players attention. And it would’ve made sense to go with RDO but it was way riskier to migrate their already established player base of gta to rdo I mean tbf they already made all their money back and then some when they released red dead redemption 2 from sales alone.

but the the GTA Online team form GTA V, are moving to GTA 6 Online, and the red dead team are coming back. I do believe the reason they made the red dead team work in GTA 6 as well as three are way more familiar with the newer engine than the GTA team,
As yes it’s the same engine each time but updated to a newer version, maybe this is me hoping and sucking/inhaling a lot of copium I want outlaw/gunslinger passes back just like we all do. Red dead is the only proper Wild West game we can get besides (Evil West)..

Imagine owning a train for passive income and at the back carriages is your new space for planning robberies and heists. You could get this train by either doing a set of missions to steal it or out right buy it somehow. I think that would be sick. You can even have a bounty board on your train or where the train sits. Maybe an abandoned train yard or plot of land is bought from the government by the players. At the train yard we could also have Carriages or coaches that are customisable, there’s someone who can fit your carriages with turrets or can upgrade your other role vehicles. Like for the hunting wagon, we can get upgrade the storage capacity. And the bounty hunting carriage can remove some of its armour for speed advantage or can have a steel plate behind the driver with a protection bonus with a speed debuff

I recently just got into RDO and I am sad I never go into it sooner, as someone who also is apart of the GTA community. I can 100% say that Red Dead Online is much more immersive and intriguing; since finishing all the roles I have found myself in a constant loop of what next? none the less i hope that rockstar will change their heart and add more to this game that is more than deserving of getting out of GTAs shadow.
It’s really sad to see, I started Red dead online a year ago after beating the story mode countless times and was very sad to hear from player encounters that it had been abandoned by rockstar in terms of updates. The only thing we can currently hope for is the continuation of the outlaw pass if that’s a plausible scenario at all. I love this game and even though I like GTA online it’s a bit disappointing that Rockstar doesn’t really care about it anymore
The good news is Rockstar actually made a pretty big update this month, they added new outfits( even Micah’s outfit for free) and double xp for all roles, which is better than nothing.

The naturalist role wasn’t a terrible idea. I think what sucks is that was the last role.
After rdr2o I've almost lost all hope for gta6 or any future rockstar online game. The blind greed and abject ignorance of rampant cheaters has convinced me they just don't care anymore. I can handle the greed if they put a stop to the cheating. It taints every interaction with other players and has been out of control for far too long.
the way me and my friends dont get bored from RDO's lack of content is roleplays we have done so many new stories and they are perfect(ish) but better then what R* gave us with red dead online

Honestly I enjoyed and loved the naturalist role. Not something I wanted but I liked it and it’s very useful for trader role so also I chose this role first over the others because of some role exclusive unlocks.
This game graphics are so realistic for the first 2min I though this was an actual character on RDO
You missed out the 1.21 Patch that came out in 2020 and how it broke the game for 3 days, Gaming Media was talking about it and Rockstar didn't respond until 3 days after the patch was installed.
It's a good thing that rdr2 story mode is a true masterpiece

R* strategy and gameplay are skillfully balanced to guide users towards gold bars, shark cards and gta+ subs.
At least for those who don't have plenty of time to play. Others can grind with patience...

Never touched Red Dead Online but I finished the main story of Red Dead 2 seven times
There's a reason why the Helldivers 2 protest vs. Sony was successful - it hit them where their money is. Negative reviews are a stain on the reputation that won't go away without the support of the playerbase.
The best thing about Naturalist is the animal transformation pamphlets that cost gold and are completely broken.
Continued support for GTA Online in to the life span of red dead online really hurt the potential of red dead online. There was very little to do in online at launch and updates needed to come quicker than every 6 months similar to how they did in the early years of GTA online in order for Red Dead Online to be successful.

i built a channel around this game , now i struggle to keep it going. Red dead was gtao's biggest threat , so they killed it.
on PC there are many hackers, they will often ruin the game, but you can do private server with your friends.
I did some research into all of this, and all of the hacking stuff/ cheat menus appear to cost real money. it also appears they get away with doing this.
I think, some people at rockstar made the these cheat programs and released them for money, so that people buy them and ruin the game and it makes everyone stop playing, so rockstar no longer has to support it at all.
It’s still very upsetting that they could never bring a Guarma update in RDO. Also the fact that Rockstar can’t even add a 60FPS for playing RDR2 on PS5. Some of PS4 games that you play on PS5 allow for 60FPS. Why can’t Rockstar add this ? Especially if they won’t release a PS5 version of RDR2 ???

The one problem is Rockstar dumped all their resources into GTA online and GTA6 RDO they left in the dust I was hoping you purchase a ranch or restore a ghost town I still wish you could create AI posse members though if you're a solo player online
I’ll always stand behind my opinion that RDO was the superior game in terms of gameplay potential. The game’s subtle details in the way the game functioned mechanically blows GTAO outta the water. I am so disappointed that Rockstar abandoned this game’s potential simply to continue milking GTA. It’s made me dislike GTA quite a bit TBH. I have no hope for anything new ever being made with the same focus as GTA.

I bought a series X and the very first thing i did was download RDR online, the saddest part was saying goodbye to my old angry bounty hunting mexican character since i cant transfer over like we do with GTA online to an alternate console which is total crap.

I wanna see the zombie stuff they had planned for GTA 5 but cut, I know they had Dead Nightmare for RDR but it was so long ago and my physical copy has been defective ever since I got it so it crashes when I get to the mountains specifically and the zombies and people's heads/hands disappear, I was thinking of a return to it on RDRll online as a better Halloween event or permanent DLC as well as having a Halloween zombie survival series on GTA 6 online now to advertise it for the RDRll one in online, I think it would be cool and would 100% buy it, I know zombies isn't Canon in RDRll as it doesn't align with the timeline so maybe just for a Halloween event would be nice.
Also for separate online content, a $5k 200 round gatling gun wagon(fragile to bullets and explosives.) would be cool, $6k for the armored one from call to arms(bullet proof/1x explosive proof.), $2 per round with a 12 min respawn cooldown time after replenishing ammo from somewhere.
When they took the players off the map killed the game for me. The world feels empty
Would love to sign if petitions did anything... if R* is killing it, they are killing it... in fact they already have. The community needs to accept it. I love RD online though, makes np sense why they couldnt alocate a small team tp just keep up with it.

Edit: also old rdr online still has an active fan base meanwhile gta 4 is all but dead so that means the red dead franchise has dedicated western fans like us who will always boot up the game for some Wild West action. They literally cornered the market on western games and do nothing with it.

Hackers giving out free gold actually made the game fun. I was able to buy all the missions Rockstar put a paywall on and actually have some fun (and make my character look good for once)

Idk if I'd say complicated, but it is grindy. The best thing to do is play the story/stranger missions until you have enough gold to start a role (preferably bounty hunter) and go from there

@Afq.08 They are the land of opportunity missions given by Horley. They are usually marked on the map

@Afq.08 You can check in the progress section of the pause menu. If you did finish them, do stranger missions til you get enough gold to start a role which is 10 bars as of now

If you want to save Red Dead a better way to go is to stop paying and playing GTA, and get your friends interested in RDO. Once these guys realize that we would rather play that they will bring it back.

I have +3000 hours in GTA O (large chunk is singleplayer but mostly multiplayer). Apart from completing Doomsday achievements/trophies on PC (2020) and PS4 (2022), I haven't played GTA Online since around 2016. It got old for me way back then. I feel like the OG heists were the peak fun and I had A LOT fun completing the HARD elite challenges for them back then, with my friends.
I felt like back then it was already beating on dead horse, SOME DLCS WERE FUN TO PLAY THROUGH, but GTA Online I think has overstayed its welcome.
I started playing RDO mostly for achievements/trophies, but god damn it's way more enjoyable than GTAO. Everything you said here is true. To the very last word.
GTA O is being milked way too much, RDO should have gotten the focus. I feel like Strauss Zelnick does NOT GIVE A FUCK about the image of GTA and just wants to make as much money as possible before fucking off.
