This is one of my favourite planes, played in its altitude is a cracking fighter, not bad ground attack. I’ve had some great battles in the Mk1A.

jeez sometimes i forget that the brainrot has also completely infected the mid tiers too. Entire teams on the deck only doing full-commit headons til they die...and players with every advantage and plenty of altitude to just climb over and drop down on you instead choosing to nose down at you and throw their planes away flying straight in a hail of hispanos. then the rest of them just followed you, also throwing away their alt and ignoring your friendlies on their six until they were cleaned up.
Picked this gem up during the sale to grind out bri’sh props and I enjoy it a lot
This plane is a beast and my most played plane overall. Bought it only because i saw that it has "Deblinski" Squadron camo (a polish squadron that fle almost exclusively P-51s) as a collector thingy way back. But when i took it for a spin in game. Damn.
Its biggest advantage is that people on this BR, including other P-51s pilots, forget that it has 4 hispanos and they expect a rain of machine gun fire. Not a 1 tap knockout.
Also when you know this plane even the fact that you bleed your energy fast can be put into a good use. Cant count the number of times i screwed up my approach only to have my enemy on my 6, just to quickly drop a speed in a turn, pull the scissors and find myself behind him for a quick tap knockoud.
Nowadays, i rarely have less than 4 kills on this plane, quite often i pull Aces and more in a match. The only real danger is finding XP-55s in enemy team, and that means you are uptiered by a whole point. Up to br 4.0 there are only few fighters that can outperform this machine (when its used correctly) and up to its 3.3 BR there is only 1 premium that is comparable to it and better in some areas and its I-301. And You will almost never see it.
P-51 Mk1 A is also one of best earning premiums that arent jets, and best earning plane on its BR.

The mustang MK is basically just a American P-51B just with 20mm cannons and British markings. Lucky it has American skins for it to be a P-51B
"Why was I able to get away with it?"
The one strength of the plane beings its armament, and you got the kills early on. It's a fantastic thing in a Boom&Zoom role to get the kills on the first pass, as you don't end up wasting time and energy on subsequent passes. Move on to the next enemy, kill them, and winning has a snowballing effect. Having genuinely strong armament is a huge asset for that, it's probably one of the big reasons why Fw-190s are so dangerous.
And yeah, target priority. If you were to pick out a very agile opponent early on, one who knew you were attacking and got out of the way of your guns, you would have a hard time securing those early kills. And it would delay the 'snowballing' effect, so you'd easily find yourself surrounded by more enemies and with less energy to work with.
This plane has grinded me a shit ton of SL and it's Rank III 😏

Been playing this one quite a bit recently, it has some amazing camo skins, and it has the joint second highest silver lion bonus modifier I believe (450%)

This is also an excellent CAS plane - while it doesn't have a lot of ammo or bombs, that does mean you aren't weighed down by your primary offensive armament. You can shred opposing planes while also easily damaging light vehicles, and with the right belts do top down attacks quite nicely. You just have to resign yourself to not wiping the floor with trolly vehicles like KV's and T34s, but can mess up PzIVs easily enough.

Dude I LOVE the a36. While it’s basically clubbing at that BR. Stick with the climb, build up your energy and the the 2nose mounted .50s are so so so so good. By far the best p51 imo tier for tier.

Who wouldn’t be (aside from those fighting it.). You get 9Ls, 7Ms and 54Cs. You got BVR, Mid range and knife fighting all on a fast and agile platform.
