I got the mk III ,which has done its job already (grinding the swift f1), meaning im not in need for it, but i think its a good premium

@@nothisismyopinion I love this plane. I bought it 2 days ago. And still no plane can get you. You'll be 2-3km above enemy team. Use vertical energy retention to your advantage it keeps it's speed so good even in a 90 deg angle it's absolutely insane.

There is one plane that ends up on altitude with this plane, the Ki 83, I would say the Ki is your main competition. When i played my Ki 83 I often end up slightly above Hornets. I also find the Ki to turn better and have better flaps, same roll and same ER in my experience. The Ki is also faster on altitude hitting 650kmh at 6000-7000 meters. However the Ki overheats faster. If you enjoyed the Hornet you should check out the Ki 83.
flew it long ago! didnt particularly enjoy the hornet, its alright, but im not crazy about it.
@@jengar6258 ki-83 is one of the best fighters there is. It is always on top, has insane climb at all altitudes and turns somewhere between p-51d and p-51h
@@tedarcher9120 ki83 is not similar in turn time to the p51s it turns better than hornet but it's still a boat. It's main advantage is the same as the hornet. Altitude and energy retention in the zoom

Jengar, I have always liked the Mosquitos and Hornets from an aesthetic point of view. I find both very hard to play in the game and I agree with you on the Mk.1 and Mk.3 being nearly identical. No need to spend GE on an aircraft whose better is already in the tree.

u probably found it hard to play because u weren't doing boom n' zoom, or hit and run, and u catched some fire frequently. these are wooden planes and u dont want them to get hit at all.
I use the premium one as my silver lion grinder. Garanteed bomber kills and youll still be able to climb above everyone else

I really like these twin engine interceptors, like the Ki-83, and I'm currently grinding my way up to the Hornet.

Anybody noticed that after the last patch that when you damage a plane and it crashes on the ground, you may not get the kill?

That's very convoluted. And I think it's pretty biased towards America. I once was happily flying with my Spitfire mk14 when some F4U 4B scratched my tail (yes, just a little yellow) and I could crit it in a failed reversal. 3 minutes after he _crashed_ but ten minutes later when I arrived at the airbase I came with too much vertical speed and broke my landing gear. The entire plane was full, only the yellow elevator and a dead engine. But I couldn't repair, and the Corsair got the kill.
Another time I was on an A7m and a La9 and a Yak 15P literally raped me, the La9 left my entire aircraft core and wing roots in black and the Yak 15P killed my engine and left me burning, when Surprise!! A p51H sparks on my rudder and when I crash the kill went for the mustang. It even happened to me, an SO8000 left burning an A7m tearing it's right wing and it put the fire out, as I came with my p47 in a dive I managed to get a "Hit" and the A7m started flat spinning til crashing and giving me the kill when I was already 5km away.

See i love the Hornet, it’s a great me264(any high level bomber really) hunter that fights great. The CAS ability is pretty good too but the Mk1 is not worth 4k+ GE. Especially when it is not that much different to the tech tree Hornet. It has Hisparkos which really don’t help justify the purchase.
Also anyone notice how Gaijin have still got the Mosquito FB(the anti shipping one) as the thumbnail for the Hornet premium

at 50% most premiums are worth it.
Yeah war thunder likes to get things wrong with it’s planes like do-335 never saw combat yet it gets put up against bombers that fall apart if someone sneezed near it.
And yet the b26 seen combat and its not even in the game which is a huge let down.
Edit: I also love how we can get the Memphis bell nose art yet they don’t have the b-17f which is what the belle is

I am agree with you, the plane can be diffcult and a bit frustrating. But i must say that it really starts to shine when you fly it in squads. If everyone in your squad fly it diciplined, its almost unbeatable. It has similar problems that the P-38K has.

Jengar, did you learn English in school as a child or have you learned it as an adult? You speak it very well without much of an accent. I know in Europe they tend to teach multiple languages in school. In my schooling we only had the option of Spanish.
from 12 years old or so, although i already started speaking/reading a bit of english here and there :)

It seems remarkably durable for a british fighter! I might get it. After the TA-154 got nerfed (interceptor spawn got stripped from it) I was a very sad interceptor pilot. I ran across this and I might get it! I really like it! Climb is insane, almost where the A2D is :0 and its not even a turboprob I don't think

I agree on the boost in AA performance. The occasion of sudden death to AA at low levels now seems to be a possibility. it's happened once to me in jets on NYD and their targeting of me has felt personal in the days since.

I'm researching the 190d-9 and this thing together with the lf mk IX and the P-51H are the planes that are worrying me the most after experiencing with the re. 2005 (with the new fm)

I bought it; and I think the regular tree version offers as much if not more. There’s nothing substantially different and not even historical additions. In fact it’s shown I’d D-Day livery but not in game. Disappointed
The icon displayed in the Hanger for the plane is actually the 57mm mosquito so its just gaijin being lazy

yeah, its basicly a waste of money!
Can't understand this - in real life it was supposed to have a speed of just over 760 KpH. You were supposed to be able to loop it on one engine. You were supposed to be able to dive and then loop it on no engines. So why is it so slow in the game?
It does have that speed in game. Jengar gave the INDICATED airspeeds at altitude. Translate that to true airspeed and it has enough speed.
Yeah, i always use IAS, as its better reference for flying and stalling/energy fighting. i almost always mention that, but i forgot it this time. True airspeed and IAS are the same on sealvl, but the higher you get the bigger the difference.

I remember feeling like I was always too SL poor to progress or risk flying favorite planes. Now I've 60 million plus SL, earning @ 1 million SL per week approx.
1. turn off auto repair & use free repair.
2. Check: the repair value, the SL modifier % of your favorite vehicles and use accordingly. Potential SL earnings - repair cost = what it's worth to fly.
3. Do what you do well. if your a red Barron then fly fighters. If bombers are where you show talents then do bombers. Do the things which make you SL.
Hope this helps.
good points Matthew, i think the main thing is the flying what you're good at. dont fly the stock planes all the time, spend enough time in the planes you already spaded as well.

I see you taking hits from 50cal and not lighting on fire, did it get a more sturdy damage model as I had heard a few times that Hornets were quite fragile?

Several things annoy me in this patch of War Thunder.
You can very easily explode from light contact with trees/the ground, no more crash landings. One time I flipped my plane over lightly on my airfield and instead of repairing like normal I got killed like it was a pilot snipe, not even any visual change to the plane.
Even after setting planes on fire you often don't get the kill, or even a kill assist.

That's the most recent discussion I believe about the Hornet. But basically, it shares the Mosquito's fm with some changes. Like the fact that it deflects better once the controls stiffen which makes no sense.
I'm really enjoying the mk3 with its monstrous 150 octane fuel. It climbs like an LF mk9 that doesn't overheat and only gets meaner as you climb higher.

Sadly at 13.20 I've been seeing this quite a bit lately ether trying to fly through you or shoot through you trying to well killsteel, really is no reason to so desperately do crap like that.

Just bought it myself. I haven't yet researched the one in the tree but there are differences in the stat cards. The premium (MK.1) is 50 km/h faster, it turns 2.5 sec. quicker, climbs 6 m/s faster and it's slightly cheaper to repair. The main reason I bought it though is because it was on sale. Now that I've reviewed my favorite reference source I will probably even fly it ;)

The guns suck bad for me on this. Why does it seem like germany and ussr get best and easiest prems for grinding and us and Brit get most basic
