I've recently moved to Ground RB after being in arcade for som months and after a couple of weeks I've been spawning enough points to get my aircraft out which I consider nothing less than a miracle. I still get clapped pretty quickly by better pilots or succumb to compression after dropping bombs and stuff into the ground or buildings. Question is why or when should I consider Air Sim? What would an average (Poor) pilot get out of it?
The problem with the P-40 isn't the plane, it's the pilots. At EC2 you get too many new American pilots who don't know what they're doing and turn and burn with everything and can't ID their opponents, especially coming from the Curtiss P-36 Hawk which *can* just turn and burn. Which gets them murderized by 109E pilots. If you fly it right (as you do obviously) it will do work. I enjoyed flying it when I was working down the US tree. EC2 feels bad though. Usually too many new players, too easy to stomp and end up with a 30-0 match no matter what you are flying. And yeah I think ground AA got a buff. I got randomly screwed by the AA over Akarit on Tunisia like five times in one match at various altitudes. Only one fire but it's deadly accurate now. Had to go home with leaks just from flying over Akarit lol.
I sometimes bring out the P-40F-10 in Air RB if I wanna have a bit of fun. Stealth belts, sideclimb a bit and it does really well. Can't outclimb a lot of the fighters it'll face but its guns and general performance make up for most of that.
The F-10 is also very nice in SB. However it misses one feature - the ability to open/close canopy (which the E-1 has). Might seem like quite a nitpick, but it can be quite useful with canopy frame like that.
@@jahrainaenvil4590false!! If youre over 280mph (idk conversion off hand) it wont let you peon the cockpit but if you get below that itll let you open it. Its very slow to open and will close if you pass 280 before its open all the way but you stay below 280 itll let you open it at will
@@tdollars8052 Hi mate, I agree it might be false nowadays. Perhaps it has been added by now, and P-40F canopy can be opened. This was however two years ago, and it was simply not operable even when standing on the ground. The previous version of P-40, the Allison powered E-1, behaved just as you described. I cannot verify it anyway, I have not flown in WT for at least two years. Well, I think it might even be since Bodenplatte was released. Bests, Jahrain
@@jahrainaenvil4590 both of the P-40s in game can do this now. I took a long break for a while but ive always been able to do that with the planes that have a working hatch modeled. Perhaps theyve changed that a few times. Either way what I described works on most planes with working cockpit latches now.
Considering I’m late for the party, if you let the timer go all the way down, let the plane repair, refuel and rearm. You can leave the plane with no penalty. Kind of dumb you have to wait that long but it’s there.
Been playing war thunder for 5 year now never tried sim but i got my self an joystick and bought il2 loved it will go back to war thunder to try the sim now
You might be disappointed with Sim mode in Warthunder comparing to Il2. Warthunder is mouse players oriented game so planes fly odd in sim mode. Some of planes do rubber band wobbly stuff which is as much annoying as not realistic.
I am one of those people who do not like the P-40-E. I should add, that my comment on what the plane use to be like a few years ago. Because of that, I have not flown it in years. As your video was made last year, it makes me think I should try it again and, thus revise my opinion of the plane.
Have you ever done a sim review for the P-26? After getting my hotas I’ve enjoyed using it in sim for the lack of spawn cost, and aside from the lack of aileron trim tabs with a heavy left list it’s a fun aircraft to use in sim.
In order not to give the kill you need to wait for the plane to be fixed. I do understand why its done like that. Its because you could skip fix time if you could quit like that. Just wait for repairs and than you can quit and it will be fine
Great video once again, I really like the addition of the third person camera from the replay, really helps us non sim pilots get a grasp of the gunfight. Also when you left your plane after landing on the runway, I'm pretty sure he was credited the kill because you were not fully repaired, I have it happen to me a few times but if you wait until you are fully repaired and get dropped at the end of the run way before hopping it out, it shouldn't give the kill to anyone. edit, nvm I just saw you already replied to another comment saying this.
I consider the P-40E a generally underwhelming plane...when used alone. P-40Es strengths come out with patience or teamwork, especially teamwork. Last time me and a squadronmate took out P-40s we mopped up about 12 kills between both of us for a SINGLE sortie. Like sure its a somewhat chunky fighter that doesnt climb amazingly and accelerates a bit slow - but when you have someone else who has your back covered with another set of six guns people reconsider attacking you (or regret it quickly) while giving the P-40 its much needed breathing room - its a plane designed to work in pairs or groups of four and does so with immense joy.
Yup agreed, most American planes are designed to work in squadrons. The P-47 also is not scary alone with its not so impressive agility. But a squad of P-47 scares plenty of Germans.
I prefer the p400 over this, mainly because of faster roll as well as having the engine in the back. Intercepting bombers became much easier when your engine doesn't die everytime you take hits from defensive fire.
Personally i dont like the cockpit. Since i am on a really weak system my game runs on 20-30fps but its rare (used to be 60 but in a few updates it dropped) and many cockpits cause lag. Spitfire, Huricane, P47, some Japanese planes. Thats mainly why i dont use it.
I really enjoy your videos. I have tried Sim several times and it always ends in frustration. Unfortunately PS4 VR is not supported so looking around the cockpit is sluggish. I was curious how you fly so smoothly? I have my sensitivity turned all the way down and its still twitchy.
A lot of it comes down to practice and what hardware you use. A flight stick will be more smooth than a gamepad. I've done a video on my flight curves and control settings so it might be worth to check that out

omg usually at low teir when 2 people turn smoke on it means they are like 1v1'ing
I've seen smoke used in farming servers to indicate a player who isn't looking for a fight, this is the first time I've seen it the other way around.
Smoke on indicates an honorable duel
That snap shot you took was beautiful.
10:55 you say this but in a bv or p61 it baits so many people
Jyst an fyi it wasnt this good until the red skies update. They changed it and the p39s flight model and it made the p40 stupid good.
Ground AAA definitely seems more dangerous now. I keep getting hit on Tunisia, and the hits are serious RTB or die hits, not just light taps.

I love the p40. It is amazing in ground sim since the 50s can pen so much.
Awesome vid! Love the into music rip as well. Thank you
In IL-2 GB it is waay worse, might be more realistic tho
