Thank you so much for the demonstration! I bought this PC as a budget option and just now realized how tightly packed it is! Even hard drive installation requires removal of multiple panels. Well, looks like I bought that SATA SSD for nothing, since i cant install additional SATA harddrives it looks like and its too late to return it now. 😂

Hey hey, incredible video. PSU on my Acer died, so I'm cannibalising mine for parts and putting the CPU, GPU etc., in a case and mobo that isn't so damn proprietary. Your video has been such a big help in taking it all apart!
Upgraded to a, be quiet! Pure Rock Slim 2. Fits perfect! You will need to remove the motherboard from chassi to remove the orginal mounting screws from backside of the motherboard, so it will fit a standard cpu mounting clips, the backplate is attatched with adhesive. Not that hard to do, just follow this steps and undo the CPU and motherboard screws and front USB /aux unit. I also mounted a chassi fan in the back with pwm 4 pin, be quiet 80mm. Fits nice. 92mm will also fit, the chassi can do either 80mm or 92mm only..
Thanks for the review. I have an older model: ACER Nitro N50-600G-EW11 Gaming Desktop, Core i5-8400, GTX 1050, 12GB RAM, 1TB. I have added a small SSD drive to help with the speed. I have tried to replace existing ZOTAC GTX 1050 with first a MSI GTX 1060 which resulted in a no signal to the monitor. Thinking the GPU to be faulty. I returned it. An ordered an Sapphire Pulse RX580. With the same problem. No signal to monitor. Here are the steps I followed for install: Use DDU to uninstall existing Drivers. Powered down, drain power from unit. Place new RX580 in unit. RX580 fans spins. The Acer will go through 2 false starts before powering up. Monitor will show no signal. Tried with 2 different hdmi cables and 3 different monitors no luck. Tried taking out CMOs and Ram sticks. But no luck. Currently back using original 1050. Any ideas what I've been doing wrong? Appreciate it!
You zotac gpu working fine bcs it uses the pcie power supply that is powered by motherboard. If u got better gpu that need more watts you need to plug into gpu power cable that have minimum 6 pins it depends on the gpu
I just upgraded from a GTX 1650 to an RTX 3060 on my Nitro N50-500. The GTX 1650 didn't use any extra cables and so, the cable I needed wasn't found in an Accessible location. I had to take the Hard Drive and Disc thingy in order to get to the cable I needed. Thanks to your video I was able to remove these easily without much hassle and I was able to identify the cable I needed for the RTX

If your windows failed entirely and you cant boot from usb, the "tray" at 9:33 is what i presume to be the ssd that windows boots from idk, but removing this from the pc entirely and booting windows from a usb worked when I did that.

Hi , if its a similar model an NVMe SSD should be able to be installed but if its a few years old open it up and see if you can see the slot if there isnt a slot there you will need to go 2.5" Sata SSD

A bit hard to cover most GPU upgrades As you will be limited to psu rating and the physical card size Something like a 1660 ti, 1660 super, 2060 or a RX6600 should be fine powersupply wise
I have same prebuilt but mine came with the i5 not the i7. Nice little prebuild if you ask me for around $1000 I've been using mine for about 5 years now and only had the black screen of death once - but she was revived and hasn't had a relapse since.

I bought this computer from a friend as an upgrade but I want to upgrade the ssd using the ssd from my older computer. The ssd in my older computer is an m.2 NVMe 2TB that I put in myself. The old one is running windows 10 while the new one is windows 11. Is it possible to just clear the old ssd (factory reset) and put it into the Nitro 50? If so will it still be running in windows 11? I would recommend the pc you put the nvme in , to do a clean format Use the windowd 10/11 installation tool Boot off it and reinstall windows from there

I have a 2018 model of this with an i5 8400 and gtx 1070 8GB. it ran great the first couple of years but lately, I have had an issue with overheating of the CPU, which compromises basically every game I play. therefore I am looking to transfer the components to another case, for better cooling options. and I've been doing some research but I can't quite figure this out. how many coolers does the motherboard support? and will this motherboard fit in a mini atx tower? I really hope to hear from you soon since I'm kinda stuck in the process

@@torbensanaldiener honestly man the motherboard is such a weird shape only a full size atx tower will fit it but you will have to sacrifice the front io. It was so much hassle I replaced the motherboard to a mid size atx and went with any usual atx case. I had two of those motherboards and in both cases I just replaced the mobo, I find it the only logical solution

Hi If the HDMI port is up the top of the case, not near the current HDMI port Then I suspect the blocked port is for the integrated GPU, which is disabled when you play in the dedicated GPU (Nvidia GPU)

9:45 I mention about changing cases The front usbs are part of the mainboard, so you will lose them if you change cases if you change cases you will need to make sure they are long enough to fit the board

Hey! I bought my acer nitro n50 back in 2018. It came with one 8gb 2666mhz ram stick. Now im going to replace it with two 8gb ram sticks (16gb). Does the new ram need have the speed of 2666mhz or is it capeable with higher speeds such as 3200mhz or maybe 3600mhz?

Hi, I have the same PC and I just upgrade my gpu from 1660ti to 2070. Here's my experience: You either find an itx gpu or a card that is no longer than 23cm if the power connector is on the longer side of the card. My Dell 2070 just fits without removing the tray.

you have a pretty balanced machine But i would do these updated in time. 1- Install an NVMe SSD if you havent already got one (Kingston A2000 500GB or 1TB) 2- Install a second stick of 8GB DDR4 (to get dual channel +16GB) 3- Would look in to the second hand market and try and get a intel i7 8700 4- Once the GPU world Prices Calms down, look to getting a RTX 3060 or a AMD 6700XT to replace the GPU

Hi Rick, great video....I have this machine but can't get it to start. Press the button at the front and then it tries to power for 1 sec then shuts off and continues to do this until I remove the power cable. I have replaced the PSU in case it was that but it isn't. Sadly I think it is the motherboard. What I have no idea about is what size motherboard I need, as you said it isn't a standard ATX or mini ATX. Hey mate, I know this is late but those are the Bluetooth and WiFi adapter cables, they were just glued on on the other end, so I just peeled them off the case - should still work fine.

I have this pc, when booting up it makes a long continious beep noise. I tried reseating my ram, cleaning my fan and other compartments but nothing seems to work. Notbing will come up the screen.

@@torbensanaldiener Hey, I did manage to fit the Acer Mobo in a NZXT H510i. You just have to take the white metal panel out to fit it. I also ran a longer headphone cable from the front of the Mobo through the back of the case so I could still use a headset.
my PC never came with an SSD. Im looking to upgrade from my single hard drive to an SSD but I have no idea what im looking for. Also I have a total of 24GB of ram, all three sticks have a speed of 2666 however in task manager it says the speed is only 2133.

odd, im not sure on that one sorry but even without drivers and without even getting to windows the GPU should be displaying

dont need to replace, can just stick the 2.5" SSD anywhere in the case with tape

@@torbensanaldiener honestly man the motherboard is such a weird shape only a full size atx tower will fit it but you will have to sacrifice the front io. It was so much hassle I replaced the motherboard to a mid size atx and went with any usual atx case. I had two of those motherboards and in both cases I just replaced the mobo, I find it the only logical solution

If the HDMI port is up the top of the case, not near the current HDMI port
Then I suspect the blocked port is for the integrated GPU, which is disabled when you play in the dedicated GPU (Nvidia GPU)

The front usbs are part of the mainboard, so you will lose them if you change cases
if you change cases you will need to make sure they are long enough to fit the board

Hey! I bought my acer nitro n50 back in 2018. It came with one 8gb 2666mhz ram stick. Now im going to replace it with two 8gb ram sticks (16gb). Does the new ram need have the speed of 2666mhz or is it capeable with higher speeds such as 3200mhz or maybe 3600mhz?
Btw, my specs are : Gtx 1070, Intel core i5-8400 and a Nitro N50-600 motherboard.
if you install faster mhz ram in to your system it will slow itself down to match the lower speed ram thats already installed

This is a great video. I have relied on it to upgrade my Optane memory to an nvme SSD and add RAM. I am now considering upgrading the graphics card. You made a comment about having to remove the hard drive tray if you upgrade the graphics card. How do I affix the SATA SSD if I remove the tray?

Hi, I have the same PC and I just upgrade my gpu from 1660ti to 2070. Here's my experience: You either find an itx gpu or a card that is no longer than 23cm if the power connector is on the longer side of the card. My Dell 2070 just fits without removing the tray.

Based on your comments, it seems sata is maybe a bit slower but easier to install?
if you already have m.2 ssd and are unsure how to clone to a new SSD.
i would go with adding a Sata SSD, i would recommend going with a 1TB MX500 SSD

Hello Rick! Im looking to upgrade my Acer Nitro N50-600. It has an 1060 6gb vram, 8gb crucial ram, i5 8400. I am a huge gamer and need better peformance. What parts should I buy and is it possible to change the computer case? How would i go about changing them? Im not an amazing pc wizard like you, so i dont know these things that well!
you have a pretty balanced machine
But i would do these updated in time.
1- Install an NVMe SSD if you havent already got one (Kingston A2000 500GB or 1TB)
2- Install a second stick of 8GB DDR4 (to get dual channel +16GB)
3- Would look in to the second hand market and try and get a intel i7 8700
4- Once the GPU world Prices Calms down, look to getting a RTX 3060 or a AMD 6700XT to replace the GPU

Hi Rick, great video....I have this machine but can't get it to start. Press the button at the front and then it tries to power for 1 sec then shuts off and continues to do this until I remove the power cable. I have replaced the PSU in case it was that but it isn't. Sadly I think it is the motherboard. What I have no idea about is what size motherboard I need, as you said it isn't a standard ATX or mini ATX. I am no IT buff and what I need to know I get from You Tube. What size motherboard should I be looking for? and any recommendations for a specific model please?

There is another hard drive slot in the tray, it should be relatively simple. Just watch a tutorial, it's the same idea for most mobos

i Bought a WDblack SN750 and i has inserted it in but in my bios it shows my HHD disabled and im not sure if i had dont something wrong with installing in THIS PC it only shows the SSD as the Local Disk C

Hey mate, I know this is late but those are the Bluetooth and WiFi adapter cables, they were just glued on on the other end, so I just peeled them off the case - should still work fine.

I purchased this just before the pandemic and mine is a bit different from yours, for example mine only came with 1TB HDD, 1 stick of Ram and and like 6 i5 cores... I have a question for you if you dont mind, for some reason external SSD have been giving me "I/O Device Error" lately and I spent days tryna figure it out, at this point I have 2 options, give up on PC gaming or invest in an internal SSD and see if that works, but is it even possible to get a secondary storage on this prebuilt? I dont want to replace my HD but keep the internal SSD for stuff like gaming only... I watched your video to see if it was but it just look like a bunch of cables to me lol for example I am thinking of getting a SanDisk SSD Plus that is 2.5" but uses SATA III

There are lots of videos explaining how to solve the overheating problem of this machine by adding a new CPU cooler and new fans. How can it be that Acer is producing such a computer that doesn't work properly?

@@torbensanaldiener Hey, I did manage to fit the Acer Mobo in a NZXT H510i. You just have to take the white metal panel out to fit it. I also ran a longer headphone cable from the front of the Mobo through the back of the case so I could still use a headset.
