The clearest and most comprehensive look at transposing of the tutorials I’ve seen on UA-cam. Nice job.
I love you’ve included a variety of ways depending our needs, project and situation at hand.
Chris, a relative newbie here, I would just like to say that this is the best and most comprehensive explanation I have seen on the internet re transposing in Logic. I think the problem stems from the fact that a lot of explanations only partially describe the subject and that can lead to confusion. Thanks.
Wonderful tutorial Chris! Now I fully understand why Key change alters some of my Projects but not others. I've never looked at Transpose in Global Tacks before!
Excellent content. Your hard work is appreciated!!
Yup, again your clear explanation has helped save me time and trouble in my projects. I was able to create a needed chord change into my song in a flash.
Fantastic tutorial. I was hunting for this and you clearly laid it out Big thank you!!
You are THE BEST teacher on YT. Thanks so much! You've helped me vaporize many headaches!
Always great info Chris. Thanks.
Good content, Chris. Even if we know some things about transposition we can learn a feature we didn't know yet.
Thank you.
Man, you really know the stuff. Great resource. Yes, it helps. Thanks. Thumbs up!
Best & simple explanation ever.. Thanks
Thanks! I was stuck and you solved my problem.
Videos like this is why I subscribe.
Just when I think Logic couldn't get any better, I see one of your videos like this!
Logic just keeps on doing it non stop
This is a great video, and a great channel as well. Thanks, helped me a lot!
super helpful and clear, thank you so much!!
💎 A hidden gem! 💎
Very useful, thanks! 👏
This is so awesome!!!! Gonna save me a whole lotta time, thank you!
This is so easy to follow. I tried to transpose in the flexi editor. Which had me tearing my hair out. Thank you.
Amazing!🤩I didn't have to sift thru mounds and mounds of garbage💩to get a clear & consise answer on how to transpose in Logic! Your video was the 1st one to pop up in UA-cam. Thanks 🙏
Chris, interesting overview . Thank you . I recommend to all may music friends using LPX your training videos. Thank you
perfect, thanks, just what I was looking for.
This is indeed helpful...thank you 👍
A VERY HELPFULL LESSON. THANKS
Helped a lot, thank you!
Great stuff! Thanks so much
Dear Sir - you are a logic pro genius. I am going to subscribe - thanks so much for your great video
Thanks for the detailed steps
Awesome stuff, Chris!
saved me a lot of time. Thanks man!
Awesome thank you! I think I’ve been looking for the Varispeed function like my entire life 😂
You just saved me in school, so thank you so much! Also quick shoutout to Full Sail University, they have great entertainment & business degrees that you can either take in person or online!
Oooooooo. Finally I understand the global transpose. Thank you
A very useful timesaving tip.
Dope!!! Thank you!!!
Hi Chris,
Thanks for continually putting out excellent tutorials! Lately, I have been wondering how to use the Global Transpose with regions that include key switches/articulations. For example I'll have a MIDI bass guitar track (Toontrack EZ Bass) that will have both the melody and articulation notes in the same region. The articulation MIDI notes are required so the plug-in knows how to approach the melodic note (slide-in/out or other bass guitar techniques). Ideally, I would like to simply change the key signature globally as you show, but this will also transpose the articulations MIDI data and of course the bass line will not be executed the same. What would you suggest for preserving the articulation data when transposing? Is there a way to lock certain MIDI notes within a region? Or, should I be duplicating the track and dividing the melodic MIDI data from the articulation MIDI data (and marking No Transpose on the articulation track)? Any suggestions would be awesome and thanks again for doing such a great job!
Craig
Thank you so much
Wow your logic tutorials or the best Chris.
Thank you! Every time I watch your video, I learn something new (like varispeed!) For me, transpose track is not working what I expected sometimes. I changed key (+1) which gave me correct result at first. However, when I changed from +1 to 0, MIDI is back to original key, but Audio files doesn’t, which I have to go into region inspector to change everything. I don’t know whether it only happens to me, but I just manually changed the key in the region inspector, which seems straightforward to me 😅
Great vid as usual Chris.
Does it work with vocals or 3rd party loops ?
I'm assuming I'll need to bounce in place and create a new apple loop , or use melodyne?
Hi Chris, great video. You didn't go into the Varispeed option of the kHz adjustment. I was wondering can you use that to change a whole project from 440 Hz to a 432 Hz tuning? I'm very interested if it is possible to easily tune down a song to a 432 Hz tuning in Logic. I hadn't heard of this option before, is this a new feature in Logic or has it been there for years? Thanks for all your insightful video's!
Very Cool!
Thank you so much! You answered my question about changing the pitch and speed of a project independently. However, in the last example of transposing the entire project while maintaining tempo, is there a loss of audio quality with the Flex and Follow function?
What loss of quality is there, if any, with Varispeed and Flex mode with audio?
What I am trying to do is change the speed only of a project, which you can obviously do with Varispeed. But I have yet to find an answer as to the resultant audio quality of a sped up audio loop that is already in the project.
Thanks - great video. I didn't think you could change audio files between major and minor? When you choose an audio loop you search for a minor if your song is in minor - but with what you show you can drage it in - export to Loops again - drag it back and you have converted a e.g. major loop to a minor loop ?
🤯 génial !!!
Could you please make a video on how to make seamless transitions when looping ?
Do you know if the transpose lane only changes midi or if your audio tracks have flex mode on, they will change if you move the mode on the transposition track.
Do these techniques sound good with pop & rock tracks using real guitars / bass / piano etc?
damnnnnnnnnnn! this is amazing
I have a guitar tuned a half step down and I am trying to play my piano vst a half step down. Do I do that on the midi controller or can I do it in Logic'
I’ve just rewatched this because I have to do some transposing and I have to ask, what is the point of the transpose master track you opened if you never use it? I would have thought the easiest way to transpose without altering key signatures is to simply adjust the transposition in the transpose track? Wouldn’t that keep all the intervals correct because it is still working in a major or minor scale (whatever you’ve initially chosen)?
Anyway I’ll experiment later today when I get back to my studio.
I saved it to my music and it's not in the tempo i changed the project to and my vocals pitch are changed as well.. how do i prevent this?
Why can’t I find transpose in the inspector for audio files. Please help. I’ve lost my mind trying to figure this out
Transposing audio in the region inspector window sometimes doesnt work. not sure why
I'm trying to transpose one audio track and hearing no change when I move the levels. Thoughts?
Can I change a tempo per track
Does anyone know how to transpose the entire project a half step down? Thank you
Btw what Les Paul is that ?
Often when I transpose an audio region up, the whole audio file becomes corrupt and cuts in and out abruptly. Even when it's just one small audio file on the project. Logic never used to do this, and it does it all the time now. It's incredible frustrating. Any ideas?
Wow 🤩
Everytime I click on my audio file the transpose area in region dissappears. Yet if I click in a blank area it comes back but doesn't do anything. Very frustrating
I really wish there was a way to also transpose parametric EQ'ing. Im in the bad habit of semi mixing when creating/ recording music. I can't stand working with painful frequencies so i notch them out straight away, but then if I then need to transpose things the EQ'ing was a waste, and I have to redo it. Anyone know a fix for this? (Yes, I know I could have bounced it, but it doesn't really help with MIDI.)
The only fix I know would work for this is if you use pro-Q 3 for the shaping and then select all the points and move them based on the little keyboard you can add at the bottom of gui. If you don’t already own pro q 3 though it’s a little pricey.
@@lawinter1949 i do have Pro Q3 and that’s how I do it now, but it’s quite time consuming to manually do this with every notch EQ. And for some audio when transposed it doesn’t have the same impact on hearing. But thanks for the reply and tips.
@@yeskimkim one other plugin that might work is slice eq by kilohearts. It has a transpose macro knob but it doesn’t snap to a note on the keyboard. It’s free with any purchase on adsr sounds right now
Wow!
Very interesting thx, could you add chapters to yt videos, easier to identify exact areas : thx!
what about transposing real instrument tracks? that's what i'm looking for
the variation between how transpose and no transpose work differently for audio and midi is confusing.
❤it!!!
cool
Reasons why I'm about to switch back to Pro Logic.. it's for professionals and it's made by studio driven people. FL Studio is just messy, buggy and my big pet peeve is the transpose DIRECTLY ON DRUM TRACKS! Let's remember friends, logic Pro is Pro Tools in a simplified fashion... and better instruments too lol
some ok workarounds, but it just doesn't work as seamlessly as ableton and studio one. not a deal breaker for me as a logic user since i rarely ever need this kind of thing, but nonetheless is too clunky for me imho. def room for improvement by apple.

wait till tiktok creators catch logics varispeed setting

All simple midi tracks to start with? Seriously? Lost interest immediately :(
