    I hate to be that guy, but for all the people who are saying this is difficult and stupid. I got a break it to you, if you’re gonna use this appropriately you will need to have a little bit of music theory understanding. You can also place points where the key changes in the song to adjust to the chords that you need. You can make prog metal with this which changes timing and keys throughout the track. If you’re unable to get the cord changer to do what you want it’s probably because you don’t understand another portion of logic. You really need to utilize this new tool with all the ones that we had in order to get the full potential.

      Well said! This is a very powerful tool in experienced hands. There is some obvious janky things I notice that could be updated, and add more functionality and intuitive gui is something I wouldn’t be opposed to. This is still sick though! But yeah anybody who thinks you can press 3 buttons and get the exact results you want is shooting themselves in the foot

    • @knuckledustermusic
      @knuckledustermusic  6 місяців тому

      Agreed, the more you know the quicker you'll be able to achieve what you're after, but if you're just getting started it can be a cool learning tool to try out different chords and see what appeals to you (there'll just be more trial and error involved).

      If you watch some basic videos on getting started and work your way through the parts of the manual that are pertinent to you, it will become much easier. The manual actually is very well-written. Logic is a very powerful and useful program that is worth learning if you're going to make music.

      Keep forcing yourself to use Logic… I wouldn’t overwhelm yourself looking at tons of vids on it. Create a small practice song and then keep trying out one new tool or setting each day and really dive into it… over time you will notice a lot of practical knowledge sinking in. It’s well worth the effort! I converted from GarageBand around 6 years ago and still am learning new concepts… it’s a super rich DAW. And don’t let anyone kid you: the stock plugins are extremely powerful as are the stock synths (even owning a variety of the top-tier paid synths like Artiria and U-He Zebra etc) I find I can pull up a Logic Stock synth and get incredible patches from those. Same for effects.
      PS - Don’t forget about the Help Document that comes with Logic… it answers 99% of anything you can think of. And I also keep the “?” tool enabled at all times with gives you instantaneous info on anything you are using. Best of luck to ya! 👍🏻

    Really great video! I had no idea you could create a session player clip on an existing instrument track. I've just been using the default bass/drums/keys sounds. I also didn't know you could designate chords within a region. Very cool. One thing I am disappointed it's not easier to do is analyse the chords in an existing MIDI region and convert them to chords. For all the things that are well thought out about Logic, this definitely isn't one of them! Hoping that changes.

    another cool thing is to create an alias of the session player to use on multiple tracks. this way you can change the chord track on the fly and everything will follow. then you can mute session player if you want. of course you can just change the AU instrument in the session player itself and create multiple players.. but just another method. thanks for the vid.

    Hello Goerges! great tutorial!! Is there a way to drag and drop an existing piano region from an older logic session into the global track in order to be able to have the session players follow? It's been very cumbersome to recreate my chord progressions in the global chord track. It would be great if you could record directly to the global chord track!

In the tutorial where he just drags & drops the region onto the chord track the chords in the region are already labelled. What I am asking for is logic to analyze the midi region, identify the chords and then create a chord track region with that information

    Alright bro, I have you to blame (and my weakness for the best stuff) for my recent purchase of Logic Pro 11.1.
    There are quite a few reviews out there saying it crashes all the time and whatnot - I either haven't pushed it that hard or the problems are solved.
    I moved the libraries to my external drive (same one I use for videos) which was many Gb's of data - whew.
