If you're not sure about switching to Logic Pro X, you could look at it like this: You pay for this monumental synth - a substantial-but-fair price for such a powerhouse plugin - and receive a world class DAW as a bonus.
Thanks. Not only was this very high level informative, but could serve as an example of what UA-cam tutorials should be. That is to say, all about the subject at hand and not about the person making the video. Additionally, you exhibit what good teaching is all about; taking a complex subject and presenting it in a mode that is understandable to the uninitiated. Bravo. Keep up the great work.
Such an awesome synth, and actually quite easy to use once you get past the intimidating first impression. It is quite power hungry when in good or great quality mode, especially on older hardware.
When I first looked at the Advanced tab of Alchemy I was overwhelmed. I'm a guitar player and just needed some synth sounds so I stuck with the presets. This is a great overview. The settings and sections make so much more sense now. Thank you, Chris. Could you do similar overviews with the other synths? LogicPro has sooooo much packed into it and I feel like there is so much more I could do if I understood how the things work.
Really awesome tutorial! Had no clue how any of Alchemy worked. Other tutorials still overwhelmed me because they assumed some basic knowledge-but this one broke it down so well I was able to understand a lot of these basic ideas that I imagine apply to all sorts of Logic settings and controls. Thanks!
Thank you so, so much. I always was felt timid with Alchemy until you showed us that it really is an awesome, rather than intimidating piece of wonders. Many thanks again. Best of wishes, Ben.
yesssss! i’ve been waiting for this since I subscribed to your channel! Could you please talk about Granular Synthesis within Alchemy? This would be so nice… please
You've helped add to my self-guided study of Alchemy as my first real synth I've gotten under the hood with. Apple Logic Pro Instrument manual tuts and all. Maybe someday we can compare notes. Thanks Chris!
Thanks Chris. Broken down like this it doesn't look so scary. Alchemy is deep. WAY deep! I've been having great fun with granular samples lately. Mind blowing stuff.
Fantastic tutorial, as always - you're the best. This is still an almost impossible instrument to understand, at its deeper levels seems like 😓. I'll spend more time with it
Thank you so so much. It would be awesome to watch what you can do with the alchemy with only using the sines and saws and things to make sounds from scratch! I’m definitely so excited to try this now that you’ve made it less scary!!!
at 15:38, when I push the Main Fx all the way up, it doesn't send out the reverb to A B C instruments, it still sounds the same: only D has the reverb. What am I missing here?
I am about to start with logic pro, and I was wandering if I would need another software like arturias pigments or could I find something similar in logic? I am looking to make electronic (Nils Frahm, Four Tet) type of music, I love arpeggios. Thank you!
LPX is just the gift that keeps on giving. I'm always URGING people to suck it up and buy the app. Not that I think Apple is going to be shady and up the price, but if they did it would certainly be justified.
@@thestarseeker8196 I paid €179 for it in 2013, and all of the unpaid major updates probably paid for my M1 mini. 10.7.x is slow and unstable for me, so I stick with .6.3.
I bought Alchemy when it was Camel Audio. I also bought Emagic Notator and paid every upgrade price through Emagic's Logic Audio platinum. I don't recall all the prices but I can tell you it was more than $1000. The current LPX is an amazing value.
how come when I initialize preset, it still has like parameters still active? Like the low pass filter etc. Is there a way to completely create an alchemy blank slate before I drag in a sample?
Great, now the secret is truly out! Haha. My single main complaint with Alchemy is I wish there were better scaling options. It can get clunky to fit the interface AND read well at the same time on MBP.
Hi, is there a way to affect a program number to the presets in Alchemy so that it becomes possible to use program changes in Logic to change the presets automatically ? Cheer’s. Dom.
Hi Again, a question if I may, can I use any apple audio loop in Alchemy or do I haver to convert it to a midi before hand, I see all my audio loops cannot be converted, how do I do this, yes I'm a simple man and cannot figure it out ; }
but how do you actually get a sound into a new Logic Instrument track? Shouldn't the track name update when you click on a new Alchemy patch? In our case, this doesnt happen, is this a glitch?
Is there ANY other plugin that can morph like this? I find that aspect of Alchemy so unique, that it's almost worth using Logic just for that. The way you can *smoothly* slide between 8 patch variations is amazing. Anything else? Maybe on Windows?
I still don’t really understand why there are so many synths in Logic Pro. Don’t they all do essentially the same types of things? Also, how does one determine which one to begin with before tweaking settings?
It goes without saying "if only we spent more time looking at what we have, instead of always looking to add more plug-ins"
I had no idea that a monster was hiding right under my nose! Thank you Chris, you make the world a better place for so many musicians.

You just blew my mind. I had no idea how powerful this synth is.
By far, the best tutorial for Alchemy. Thanks, Chris!
I've used Alchemy on a few of my projects but this tutorial is an eye-opener. "Powerhouse" nails it.

I bought Alchemy way back when it was Camel Audio's. You taught me a few things never knew. Thanks !!!
The next reason why I love logic! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Really good fast-intro to the plugin. You're right about it deserving a course of its own.
I love this synth. You showed me features I had no idea of. Wow! thanks for addressing your viewers as " friends." Thanks!
Wow, my brain is exploding.......you really opened my eyes to the depth of this amazing instrument. Thanks for sharing this video : )
Chris, thank you! Catching up on all your vids. Great info! Thanks for making them
Wow. Thanks for the fantastic lesson! Well done!
I love alchemy
I love learning new things it can do
Need more of these videos
Alchemy is criminally underrated. Though I haven't used it in a while there was a span of time I made beats/tracks exclusively with Alchemy.
Very good in depth presentation thank you!
Alchemy and Serum. Awesome combo. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you so, so much. I always was felt timid with Alchemy until you showed us that it really is an awesome, rather than intimidating piece of wonders. Many thanks again.
Best of wishes,
Ben.
yesssss! i’ve been waiting for this since I subscribed to your channel! Could you please talk about Granular Synthesis within Alchemy? This would be so nice… please
Helped me pretty much! Explained without any holding, fabulous👍🏽😍
Great video. Thank you for teaching me about Alchemy!
You've helped add to my self-guided study of Alchemy as my first real synth I've gotten under the hood with. Apple Logic Pro Instrument manual tuts and all. Maybe someday we can compare notes. Thanks Chris!
Great stuff! Thanks so much for doing that video, extremely informative
Superb. Much appreciated
This March the 10th and this video is so helpful and eye opening. Thanks for your clear and knowledgeable explanations of everything!
I'll spend more time with it
thanks a lot for this .. i made it more clear to me...
Big eye opener thanks Chris appreciated
Thank you, that was exactly what I needed :)
For me there is no beat session without the Alchemy!! Everything is there!!
Great tutorial Chris, I learned a few things I even didn't think about before! Thank you, Patrick Peeters
Excellent introduction!
Thank you so so much. It would be awesome to watch what you can do with the alchemy with only using the sines and saws and things to make sounds from scratch! I’m definitely so excited to try this now that you’ve made it less scary!!!
I mean like an entire video on making sounds from scratch would just me awesome
Thank you for this. Alchemy is amazing! Well explained.
Alchemy is very powerful!
at 15:38, when I push the Main Fx all the way up, it doesn't send out the reverb to A B C instruments, it still sounds the same: only D has the reverb. What am I missing here?
Thanks for the introduction.
Playing with it now. This is powerful💯
Thank you!
!ow thank you :) Very helpful!
Fantastic content!
Mindblowing for me - I didn't have any idea!! Thank you 👍😊
Amazing really. Thank you, Chris! Is there a full course on alchemy from you?
Absolute gold dude thanks man........
wait I never knew that you could drag the box around and mix the different presets together... that's a game changer.
Very useful. Thanks!
Alchemy is one of the best designed synth which helps to create limitless shapes and tones as you can imagine, all you need is time to create.
I am about to start with logic pro, and I was wandering if I would need another software like arturias pigments or could I find something similar in logic? I am looking to make electronic (Nils Frahm, Four Tet) type of music, I love arpeggios. Thank you!
All of my Osciloscope stuff is made using alchemy it's amazing what you can do with it :)
Good video, thank you. Now I'm waiting for the next about the sample importing section (granular, etc...)
Can I bring external sound from microphone or from real instrument into logic synth and start to manipulate it?
2:45 The first sound I hear and it immediately sounds like Rammstein's Du Hast
Alchemy was a great freebie for LPX. Yep, there are whole courses for this. So many Windows users still complain about Apple's acquisition, lol.
LPX is just the gift that keeps on giving. I'm always URGING people to suck it up and buy the app. Not that I think Apple is going to be shady and up the price, but if they did it would certainly be justified.

Is it possible to load alchemy presets into the ipad version of logic?
how come when I initialize preset, it still has like parameters still active? Like the low pass filter etc.
Is there a way to completely create an alchemy blank slate before I drag in a sample?
WOW - I knew it was sophisticated, but lordy...
I was trying to find a way to buy Serum. Should I or should I just use Alchemy?
Great, now the secret is truly out! Haha. My single main complaint with Alchemy is I wish there were better scaling options. It can get clunky to fit the interface AND read well at the same time on MBP.
Hey! Is there a reason my I only have just over 300 presets in that right side menu?
Excellent thank you
great video and thanks for sharing. Q - at 1:30 - how did you launch the smart controls?
Awesome thanks
wow thank you so much
Yes! I was about to buy an Alchemy course but ppph, what's the use now? Thanks!
So many options!
Hi, is there a way to affect a program number to the presets in Alchemy so that it becomes possible to use program changes in Logic to change the presets automatically ? Cheer’s. Dom.
Finally! 🤘😍

Did you use your keyboard or launchpad to trigger your sounds? Thanks
I still don’t really understand why there are so many synths in Logic Pro. Don’t they all do essentially the same types of things? Also, how does one determine which one to begin with before tweaking settings?
Very powerful but yet underrated by the uninitiated
Is there a mouth organ sound in here ? Thanks
for some reason alchemy doesn't show up on my logic
How do you get to Alchemy ? There is nothing in my logic pro that looks like what you have on your screen !
Did you ever find it ?
Thanks for the video. The plugin needs a real update to modern standard.
Alchemy is the Omnisphere by Apple. But I still prefer Omnisphere.
I think it complements each other were the other falls short ....
@3:32 😆
Easily the best thing about logic is this synth if yoy struggle with ideas
I made an album with only the vintage synth in Logic, now I'm thinking about an album only with Alchemy, hmmm.....
nice ....my mind is blown
wow
This is rainman level. I’m not that smart
It's not Logic's, it's Camel Audio's and I want it back so I can use my Dream Voices : Anywhere ! Grrrr.
this is so much lmao
🤟🙏🏻
Boooo. I remember when Apple came and took this little synth away from musicians around the world. Now all we have for Alchemy is bad memories.
