Dear backlogs. I am usually not one that leave comments, but i want to thank you for all your videos and the passion you bring to them. I first played and finished salt & sanctuary with my friend in a time where his younger brother was fighting cancer. Unfortunately he did not win that fight. Yeah, one of the best games and devs ever. I wish they make another game, that will be more similar to Sanctuary, with less focus on online PvP and farming, less random and more atmospheric. But Sacrifice mechanics are more advanced (especially after they patched the things up), so if they utilize all this knowledge, they can make something really great. There was just something about Sanctuary, that makes you come back to it again and again, just for the atmosphere, there is some magic there, this is art. I wish to see something like that again. I'm afraid they went too technical and chased the popular trends too much with Sacrifice, that's why it lost this magic.

You said I should try a new build, but I’d honestly just do the same thing again, and not just because it’s comfortable. I’d enjoy seeing what the Enhanced update did to my build firsthand, both for good and ill, that’s part of the fun for me - that moment of “Holy Wow, that was awesome!” or “Oooohhhh, THAT’S how it works!” all over again.
First thing I did was redo my original spellsword build with the phoenix tail whipsword. It just feels a lot better balanced in general; and going through again has made me appreciate just how much the changes make some earlier areas feel a little less messy.
You joke about us listening to you read anything, but you genuinely have a really comforting voice and even if I'm not paying full attention it's nice to have in the background
I love how even though your videos on more well known games are way more popular you still pay attention to the game you started out with. This game still has a special place in my heart so I’m thankful
I played through this game just recently without realizing it was patched. I had a lotta fun changing which weapons I used, which usually leads to major disappointment in other Soulslikes. I don't know if I enjoyed the combat overall, but the RPG side of it-changing up damage types, combining effects, choosing to two-hand or shield, supplementing your play with spells-it felt complete in a way rarely seen in action RPGs. A lotta that seems to be due to the changes in this patch. The atmosphere & exploration are still primo.
Well, I've finally done it. I went ahead and bought Salt & Sanctuary. I've been a subscriber of yours for a good chunk of time now, and while I always loved the S&S videos I've never been into actually playing 2D sidescrollers myself. But this video pushed me to finally buy it and try it for myself. The devs clearly love the game to bits, and so does the community. Guess it's time for me to join the fun, albeit a bit late. Thanks, Lemon. 🖤
im really waiting for grimes big update. the ng+ takes into account all the skills you gained and every single boss and at least some of the enemies have new moves.
I bought this game like 2 years ago because of you Lemon and I had a lot of fun with it. I never actually finished it, I was 3 bosses from the end and real life got in the way long enough that I felt that I'd just be bashing my face against the game trying to pick it back up where I was. I kept telling myself that I'd start a new save but never did. When I saw this update had come out though I decided I would start a new game with a wildly different build this time and actually finish it. I will be doubly motivated when I see the Sacrifice store page on Steam.
im so happy i got to see you talk about salt while im subscibed its one of my favourite games ever go get em lemon thank you for the amazing content as always and tell tony i said hi
I'll join the crowd in thanking you for introducing us to a great game. I actually platinumed the thing, which is rare for me. Don't know if this update is in the cards for my platform, Xbox, but heck, maybe I'll just grab a Steam copy and platinum it again. Cheers!
I just bought Salt and Sanctuary for my mom and myself recently. I got it for her for her birthday as it was on her game wishlist, and I bought it a few weeks later because I saw it on sale for $5 and I have seen some of your videos so I still wanted to play it myself, and I want to say that your character creation tutorial was super useful and even though this just covers changes, this was also a lot of useful info, and I hope you come back to do more tutorial stuff, like something to explain skill trees or something, but honestly I have been enjoying this game a lot. Spear gang rise up.
I don't remember when I bought and downloaded Salt and Sanctuary the last time I saw the game on your channel. But after hearing about this update, I'm excited to pick it up again and try and get further than.....well, I didn't make much progress honestly. Glad that you're excited about it though. Better to undersell and over perform! I love it! Thank you! I’m in St. Louis MISERY (Missouri) and that quote just made my year! ✊🏽💪🏽 I appreciate you, 🗣️MY SWEET BABY BOY 🤣😂
Started marathoning this game again after this update dropped. It is indeed very, VERY good. One of my most enjoyable playthroughs in the game's new enhanced mode was with a fire element specialist of The Three wielding Hellfire Arbalest, Searing Manacle, and Branding Iron, who had taken Imperial Pitchfire for every devotion level and wore the new Corroded Ring to sling Birian Firepots with increased power. A build like this wouldn't have felt very powerful progressing through NG+ cycles in the original version, but in enhanced mode it plays very well. Changes to buff mechanics probably had the biggest impact on the game overall, as now even the lowest tier weapons can feel plenty useful if you've got a buff to slap on them thanks to scaling being taken into account. As well, due to buffs also now granting an additional damage bonus to weapons with a matching innate element, new life has been breathed into creeds that offer weapon buffs besides House of Splendor (Goldenwine is now exclusive to element buffs but grants a bonus to pure physical weapons). Speaking of creeds, a few earlier ones have had their vendors' inventories rounded out with tier 3 upgrade items to offer smoother progression, along with a few other changes, plus one creed you might not expect has had significant additions that makes them an ironically great choice for a mage at the start of the game (hint: they allegedly "hate" magic, but like lightning). If you haven't played the game in a long time, now is the perfect opportunity to give it another go, because Zephyr's done a fantastic job of making the game the best it's ever been.
This is all so great to hear. I'm one of those people who stubbornly avoids epic games store so haven't played Salt and Sacrifice, but been wanting to play an S&S game again. This seems like a good a time as any.
@@lipayy9852 fair. I kinda had the same thought when I heard it had the monster hunter style gear grinding, but I would still try it if it wasn't only on epic.
vampire smile is so good, there needs to be more games where (one of) the protagonist has a chainsaw arm and katanas and giant needles and shit for weapons lol. i nearly got 100% achievements but the last few challenges are too hardcore for me never played much charlie murder, but it was pretty good from what i did
I genuinely didn't expect this. I immediately jumping into S&S after watching this video. Very happy with everything, they didn't even patch the Miracle Salt Farm. I was kinda expecting them to have fixed that oversight.
Oh boy, a Steam release of Salt and Sacrifice would be neat. It is such a pain in the butt to get it running with EGS on the Steam Deck, one day it works and the next it doesn't.
Haven't played since the update hit, but these look like cool changes. However my white whale update for this game is still a Castlevania style map that auto-fills as you explore. Would make traversing the game so much easier, as the lack of a map is the biggest reason I have trouble recommending it to people
I was about to ask. The game STILL doesn't have a map? It was once on sale for 5 bucks(PS4), so i watched a video about it and many people in the comments said not having a map is annoying. It looked so interesting but that was just a huge turn off.
@@TheValiantBob Imagine losing potential money and customers because of incompetence or unwillingness🤣 Maybe they think, not having a map makes things more difficult or special, but it does not, it's just annoying. Ok, you made me get back to it and even binge watch your chanel, now I have a request. Can you get the "How to" Salt and Sanctuary series back? I really like the game and have beat it a few times over the last years, but I am sure I don't know nearly enough about it, specialy the mechanics. You are a great creator and the video you did about the character creation is amazing! I know you have more to share with us! Please!!!
I don't know why, but buffing Carsejaw's HP just feels wrong. It's like giving Jon Arbuckle a girlfriend (which apparently did happen at some point). Like yeah, the poor guy definitely deserves it, and we're all very happy for him... but it's not really _him_ anymore, is it?
I went through the game with every possible build and the enhanced really helps with the overall fun. Daggers definately needed some parry related upgrade so I'm hapy about that and also there areso many things I havent notices, like the valmont whip mechanic? So cool :D
Huh, thought you'd never talk about this. Makes me glad that lemon has come back to the start of it all. The new update and game mode is a blast and feels a bit reminiscent of Sacrifice's mechanics. I actually think it works pretty well on Sanctuary's system. Anyways, have a good one, Lemon!
Why upgrade my PC, if the best game is still Salt & Sanctuary. Respect to the devs for supporting it and adding all the fixes, balancing and left out content. Can't wait for your next games.
2 things Backlogs. 1: How does it feel for you and the goddess to have affected a game you love like this, this much. and 2: If memory serves you did a shield only run in the past but it was focused on reflecting damage. Would you be up for a old times sake bash only run?(apologies if I misremembered)
1) Pretty wild. Never would've expected anything like this for any game, let alone one that I very much enjoy. 2) Having tested out the bash-only run for SnS...no. No I would not haha
It's 11:24pm as im writing this comment but I am exited and can't wait to play salt Thank you lemon for all your content love the challange runs and Thank you zephyr for all your hard work
Leech charms frankly sound overpowered. In all my time watching and playing games, I think I can count on one hand the number of games where lifesteal mechanics are balanced.
Backlogs, I simply want to watch more salt and sanctuary. No challenge or anything just some gameplay of it. I loved the content and just want to watch more. I understand if you never do it and that's fine. But keep up the good work Backlogs.
Admittedly when I understood that the game was being updated AND that they removed the leaping jump glitch. I felt a bitter nostalgia. Mostly because I'd been trying for a passion project (inspired by yourself truly) to actually help with the Fextralife community. Figuring out data values, extra flavour text, and making it more than a bland wall of text, that provided ample knowledge, insight & curiosity. Yet at the same time.. it was thanks to this video, the same one that I would know would not only help me resparkle this desire, but also clarify any of my previous worries. The thing that sold it out to me was the extra effects of various items, fixes to rings as well as improvement to various weapons overall utility! So it's thanks to you once again that I'd been able to bring myself out to give it another short in this updated edition. Besides, I already got lots of insight thanks to this spread-sheet too! I got a long road ahead but I genuienly hope that you, others and the entire community will be safe and sound as I tackle the Accursed Island once again! Be safe and thank you again Mr Lemon for your optimistic value you provided me! P.S now I just need to figure out if the Wolf Armour set that's unused and sold only by the Floating Island lady is scattered somewhere.. That & to see if there's really a way to access it as of this point
It's always nice to see that for the countless unfinished games pushed out of Early Access and then abandoned... ...there is occasionally a game its developers love enough to update way along the way. And hey, good reason to replay it again.
Ah yes, Salty Sancho. This is one of my favourite games. It's one of the few games that I managed to play with my brother to completion. He went with a heavy sword mage build and I went my classic pistol and dagger.
This is really good to hear, though the main thing that caused me to drop the game was the map layout. It stressed me out and I stopped playing (and found your channel) because of that.
I have been on the fence for this game for a long time, Mostly because Hey, I prefer to try alot of things in games and not go for the "Meta" and I knew that Salt and Sanctuary had a pretty established one, but this video made me reconsider and finally get the game, and Its been a blast, Thanks Lemon!
I've tried this game years ago and didn't like it much and dropped it pretty early on. I wanted to go back to it for a while though and as you pointed out it's probably the best time to do so and that's exactly what I'm going to do
I just wish they hadn't removed the Long Jump. I get that it wasn't originally intended, but it's been a core part of my movement throughout the world since I first learned of it, and it was always really fun to do. Even if a lot of nice things have been added, I'm not sure if I'll even enjoy them without the long jump.
Yeah, I was super bummed when that got patched out. Without any sort of sprint button, it felt so nice to have a faster traversal option. And when you got into the rhythm of chaining long jumps back to back? Ooooh baby, that felt good. Also yes, I miss some of the sequence breaks you could do with it, like skipping False Jester or early Storm Castle, sue me lol
i saw the Enhanced update on Steam a little while back, had no idea such a Gem could be improved. 100%'d the game couch coop style with a buddy on PS4 when it originally came out. This gives me a reason to 100% it on PC :D

Nah, it's still him. He just got more _buff_
I went through the game with every possible build and the enhanced really helps with the overall fun. Daggers definately needed some parry related upgrade so I'm hapy about that and also there areso many things I havent notices, like the valmont whip mechanic? So cool :D
I finally got around to playing the Salt and Sanctuary today and I gotta say it's pretty fun and I like the difficulty balance.
Here's hoping we get the enhanced update on Switch soon.
Ahhhh, reading the comments..... I hope these changes can come to console some day, also Salt and Sacrifice to the one that I got.
"if the numbers were lowered somewhere, they are raised somewhere else" cool so now I have a dagger AND a greatsword that do no damage.
I just got this game a few months ago, so I'm still pretty new to the party. So far my favorite build is whip+crossbow.
Why upgrade my PC, if the best game is still Salt & Sanctuary. Respect to the devs for supporting it and adding all the fixes, balancing and left out content. Can't wait for your next games.
Super exciting! Redownloading now
Maasive update with out massive changes. Confuuused lemon!
I've never been so glad to be subscribed to you.
😢
2 things Backlogs. 1: How does it feel for you and the goddess to have affected a game you love like this, this much.
and 2: If memory serves you did a shield only run in the past but it was focused on reflecting damage. Would you be up for a old times sake bash only run?(apologies if I misremembered)
1) Pretty wild. Never would've expected anything like this for any game, let alone one that I very much enjoy.
2) Having tested out the bash-only run for SnS...no. No I would not haha
I never got to playing the game. Thank you for reminding me to play it, once i get my steam deck. Few months left till then.
Wow way to revive the game I am definitely playing it once done with Zelda 😅
Wow. Nice both Salt games are getting updates/free DLC.
It's 11:24pm as im writing this comment but I am exited and can't wait to play salt
Thank you lemon for all your content love the challange runs and Thank you zephyr for all your hard work
I really hope they find a way to get the update to consoles so I can try it out.
Lemon, you did it! My salty adventure is about to begin🎉
Not sure if mentioned but, potatoes are now always available at vendors now, and thus anyone can actually do a potato only run if they so will.
Didn't realize how much I missed salt and sanc till I saw this. I found backlogs from looking up salt and sanc vids.
Happy to her about this. Tried Sacrifice and really not feeling it, kind of just eant to go back and play Sanctuary
Leech charms frankly sound overpowered. In all my time watching and playing games, I think I can count on one hand the number of games where lifesteal mechanics are balanced.
I felt so called out about the reading out an encyclopedia bit
I'm really REALLY waiting for Salt and Sanctuary 2... I know we'll get it one day... Eventually... I'm optimistic
Aw man, please give us more salt and sanctuary content.
Hunterbros, our prayers have been answered!
my inner arbalester is gleeful... well done Zephyr! his work already intrigued me with this game, and now... this!
Been looking into this game for a bit, this is some good news.
Even better news would be the other one being freed from it's epic prison.
(hint hint nudge nudge)
Backlogs, I simply want to watch more salt and sanctuary. No challenge or anything just some gameplay of it. I loved the content and just want to watch more. I understand if you never do it and that's fine. But keep up the good work Backlogs.
2nd Channel has a full playthrough of the most recent run if you need it!
I bounced off S&S last time I tried it. Think I'll try picking it up again and see if the balance changes make it feel better
Kick flip! When I decided to beat the game using only knives. I gotta say that was my most fun play through.
I do wish they do the same with salt and sacrifice , since that game just needs some polish
It's always nice to see that for the countless unfinished games pushed out of Early Access and then abandoned...
...there is occasionally a game its developers love enough to update way along the way.
And hey, good reason to replay it again.
Your vids made me pick up salt. Didn't play anything else til I one hundred percented it.
Time for round two.
I wanted to go back to it for a while though and as you pointed out it's probably the best time to do so and that's exactly what I'm going to do
Hell yeah, Can’t wait to check this out
As long as that Gunblade is still the same amount of fun as it's always been! (Hoping that Sword-whip is sexier now too!)
New old player returning tot he game. Sounds like a great state of the game to return to. Maybe I'll finish the game this time :D
Thank you my friend
