A brilliant idea, thank you. I am in the middle of sorting out my enormous stash of yarn that has been collected over a lot of years. A job, I am ashamed to say that I have put off for a long time. This is now my next project.

I used 3 strands of worsted or 4-5 DK; used half double crochet. I like the fabric, and the blanket is plenty heavy. Enjoyed the project so much i made 2 more, 1 multicolor, and one monochromatic - actually, mono-marled w contrasting bright edging. Great project. I do enjoy your teaching method.
Love this blanket, been looking for something to use up my excess, it can just continue on as I finish other projects to use up all the yarn until it is the length I want - makes buying more yarn guilt free!! Thankyou Anja 😍

For my first row I always work into what I call the back bump. That way the starting edge is a row of vees and then its so easy to work a boarder into or not do a boarder at top and bottom only in the sides of a blanket. I really need to buy a winder so I can do this. I love the effect of the colour tones. I once knitted a stash buster blanket and knotted the yarn by holding them together side by side with the too ends together. I left a 3 inch tail beyond the knot which I did not weave in. It made a nice tasselly effect all over the blanket. I liked it. This is definitely on my to do list. Cheers Joss.
Like your tip about the first row. I have just ordered this winder off Amazon as I was so impressed with what it does. (I must admit the thought of holding five strands attached to yarn ball was a bit daunting and I would always avoid projects like this. Using he yarn cakes will make things easier.
I received my January pack yesterday. OMGosh, it was like Christmas. The yarn is beautiful and oh so soft. I absolutely love, love it. Now I'm saving up for hopefully February's pack. Thank you so much.😃

Anja did we ever convert Stylecraft SD - Red Heart (4) I’m using 3 red heart different colors for each section. I’ll be posting it on the group once I’m done with it. I’ve to make 3(my kids blankets) and I’m using a 12 mm hook aluminum (from Russia 🇷🇺 on Etsy) and I can’t wait to post a pic of Autumn with her blanket since I’m making my 3 goobers blankets for Christmas and two for. Well, you can, but when you wash it, the wool might shrink, whereas the acrylic wont, so you will have an uneven project!! Personally I wouldn't mix, Anja x
I think 2 strands is best! With two strands I also like to use a 10.00mm hook, it makes a perfect drape. I just made a solid granny blanket with 2 strands of worsted and that 10mm hook and my family LOVES it!😁

I wish I enjoyed using a large hook, but always find it tiring. So I prefer a fine hook to work with. Shame because those large wraps look so cosy. I might give it another go though. Tfs
Treat it like a marathon, not a race. Do1 row per day or crochet for 30 mins every morning for example. It’s a stash buster so it doesn’t have to be completed in a month. Also use a very large hook so your not struggling to insert it into your work, the tension is completely up to you. 🐨🦘😷
Thanks for presenting this project. I had knitted an afghan like this years ago and it was cumbersome on the needles. I think crochet will be much easier to manage!
Mary I had the same problem until I discovered the "yarnology luxury crochet hook" from Hobby Lobby. I use my size 9 all the time. I have several sizes and absolutely love them!! I haven't used my other hooks since. It's got a floral design and very lightweight. So easy on the wrist and hand♡ Under $3! Try it out and if you don't like it return it, but I think you'll love it❤

I'm a new subscriber, and a novice at Crochet. This looks like a project I could take on. I have way way too much yarn. It's so fun to buy but I don't always have time to create. It's all cotton, I usually make small things like dishtowels and soap holders. Could I do this with cotton? How many of these cakes do you use to create your blanket? She HAD to intentionally change the yarn cakes in order to get the color stripping. It took me a moment to figure it out, it's a clearly good move! Doug🧶
I do like the idea of pulling out the extra chains but if it results in long tails to be cut, I'd rather not waste the yarn. I'll just use those chains and not worry that the blanket is just a tiny bit wider..........
Does anyone know if she has a tutorial for her hook holder (5:50)? Like she has sort of a blanket or cozy on top of a mug to seperate the crochet hooks. I think that is genious. I'd love to See a tutorial for that :)

She held multiple strands of yarn together and most likely winded the yarn onto the winder as much as she could before it starts to hit the piece that the yarn feeds through.
This was such a quick blanket to make and I used up so much stash ! Best stash buster ever! Now I need to buy more yarn!! LOL Anja xxx

Anja, your blankets are so colorful! How do you wash your blankets to prevent colors from bleeding?
I wash them at 30 degrees and never had any problems... I use normal washing powders and vinegar for fabric softener!

Is the yarn weights used all the same? Like all worsted, or could you mix weights? I have a big mix of fingering and worsted in my stash! 😆
Yes, I used all DK/3 weight yarns, but you could mix them if you wish, as long as they're a similar weight when you're working with them!! Anja x
Is a size 8 the letter L or a fatter than that. Or ayna wider than that last week I a lot of yarns that I put together in balls by different colors

She HAD to intentionally change the yarn cakes in order to get the color stripping. It took me a moment to figure it out, it's a clearly good move! Doug🧶
I do like the idea of pulling out the extra chains but if it results in long tails to be cut, I'd rather not waste the yarn. I'll just use those chains and not worry that the blanket is just a tiny bit wider..........
Is this all done in the v stitch.
So anyna 35 v stitches and 1 double chrochet or 2 double chrochets.

Does anyone know if she has a tutorial for her hook holder (5:50)? Like she has sort of a blanket or cozy on top of a mug to seperate the crochet hooks. I think that is genious. I'd love to See a tutorial for that :)

She held multiple strands of yarn together and most likely winded the yarn onto the winder as much as she could before it starts to hit the piece that the yarn feeds through.
