I sadly just had a friend pass. Her family gave me a few bins of yarn. This is perfect for what I have. Now we can all have a piece of “her”. She knit , I crochet; we were going to teach each other but we always got side tracked. This project touches my heart. I have followed almost all your videos. Thank you jadya you help more then you know. ❤️

I made the second blanket using all my stash, leftover yarns. I made a twin sized blanket. Used 2 strands worsted weight yarn and a single crochet stitch throughout. Plus added a decent border. When my precious 13 yr old Brown Labrador Retriever Noah passed away, he was cremated with it. He was my buddy. And the blanket was a big part of me too. Thanks for your video.

    • @kimbushart1049
      @kimbushart1049 3 роки тому +6

I think it was about 8 of the double skeins. The blankets covered a queen size bed. But a smaller throw would be nice too if you’re just starting out!

I am making my scrap blanket to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, and I am LOVING it! Last year I was given a large amount of yarn and this is the perfect project to use up the small pieces! I have fallen in love with one combination and may make an entire blanket out of it! (blues & greens variegated with a pastel solid).

I'm a knitter, and always wanted to learn to crochet. I have oodles of old white and off-white skeins from my husband's aunt's stash that she gave me since her fingers don't really work anymore. Your tutorial is so easy to follow, and I think this blanket would look nice with the whites as the lights and all of my scrap colors as the darks! You've inspired me to give it a go! Thank you!!

@@JaydaInStitches I did it! It took me just 10 days to stitch while watching TV, and it came out beautiful! A small issue with getting my tension right... I made the chain with a 10mm and then switched to a 9mm, but it's still slightly wider at the end than it was at the beginning. I made it pretty large, too, for the hubby and me to snuggle under on cold nights, 58×70". Now EVERYONE wants one! I have to buy more yarn since I busted my stash! LOL

I saw this project a few months ago and just knew I had to make one once I finished with Christmas presents. Then just before Christmas my father had a heart attack and I had to pack on the fly for I didn't know how long. I am soooooo happy I filled my backpack with most of my yarn stash as I have been out of state with him during his rehab for 6 weeks! He has made a full recovery and instead on bringing home a bunch of odds and ends of yarn, I have the most amazingly beautiful blanket to return with!!! I am completely enamored with how it turned out. I want to ask all of my friends for all of their scrap yarn and make more of them!
Thank you for your tutorials and your whimsical nature! I have only been crocheting for a bit over two years and am self taught from UA-cam videos like yours. You inspire me to have fun with my projects and to take a basic idea and change it up to make it my own. I look forward to many more videos from you!!!

This is actually so helpful to me right now. I've finished two crochet granny square blankets now (working on a third patchwork square), and I have a lot of little balls and colors and old skeins that I never used that I need to get rid of. I'll have to pull out my whole stash and go through them all, and see what I can whip together! Feeling very excited now! And I'm headed to JoAnns/Hobby Lobby tomorrow to get the final touches for my third blanket, so even more additions to come for my scrappy blanket project. If it's big enough, I'll leave it at a family house my relatives go to for short vacations. I think they'd really enjoy it!

Thank you for this wonderful way of using up my scraps - especially mixing together different textures and fibres! As recyclers we love to find practical but beautiful ways to use up our leftovers and this is perfect! It reminds me of those colourful mats we used to have around the house as a child in the 70's! Just love it.

I am working on my Ultimate Odd-Ball, Stash-Buster Project - I made it 38" wide and so far it measures 48" long - want to make it about 6' so my hubby can use when he gets chilled. I love the pattern and it is coming out beautifully in my stash assortment of colors. As I work on it I love the feel of this blanket and I just want to stop and cuddle. I am very happy with this pattern you came up with and I thank you from the bottom of my stash barrel.

I love the look of the two yarns together. Such a brilliant idea and one I'll be doing soon.
As for joining the next ball, invisible knots would work too and there would be no ends to hide either.

I am glad to have found this tutorial as I too have way too much yarn of all colors and sizes. This would be great to work on while watching evening TV.
I have to say that I was fascinated by how you hold the yarn in your left hand. It looks like a better way than how I do it and maybe my fingers won't cramp up so much. I'm going to give this a try although I know it will take a bit of practice. Thanks for the great video and ideas.

I recently bought a 10 mm hook just for this. I wanted to do a scrappy blanket anyways so I clicked this video more out of principle than interest, because I already have a plan. BUT I do love your style and there‘s always something of worth to take away from your instructions, such as the color sorting.
Edit: I mentioned the color sorting specifically because I went and bought a big ball of white yarn as my base, but your sorting into light and dark makes so much sense! Oh well. I‘ll keep that in mind for next time. =)

    ERMAHGERD!
Not even two minutes in and I already love it. Those blankets!
Those granny stitches.. I only saw those squares at about 4x4 inches. I am SO going to make that blanket.
And that other one.. well... I just started crocheting three weeks ago, so I don't have any scraps yet, but oh boy, I definitely will be making that one too... one day. And that day will be soon. Yesterday, my sisters took me to this absolutely fabulous yarn shop, which is run by three of the sweetest old ladies (in their 80s, mind you) and I bought some 15 balls of yarn. It felt like being a kid in a candy store.
BTW, two days ago I started on your big beautiful basket of variegated yarn. It's going to be an awesome basket to store my yarns and projects (yes, I am already working on three different projects after finishing my very first amigurumi). I think I'm "hooked".
