His band Newsted ended due to him being overwhelmed by all the logistics. He completely funded the European tour on his own dime. He said in an interview that there were issues with a manager, setting up shows, the cost of the shows, and he decided to pull the plug. His band did put out some awesome music. and he played on Tour with Ozzy and Voivod at the same time. He's sitting on 60 million dollars, a ginormous ranch in Idaho and collecting crazy royalties from the albums he was on with Metallica. He's had 8 extensive surgeries on his wrists, neck and shoulder, so he can't play thrash metal anymore. But he's accomplished a lot and he is loving life.
Jason quit the band because of bullying from 1 drunk and 1 Cocaine addict ...glad they are healing now though.. id like to see him rejoin and be a 5 piece like maiden did..lol 😆

I went to summer sanitarium yrs ago at the old Texas stadium and James wasn't there because he hurt his back wake boarding. Jason to the helm for a lot of the songs and he fuckin rocked that shit. it was a cool moment because the other bands front men sang some Metallica to. I remember Serj from SOAD doing sanitarium, and kid rock did one I think it was creeping death idk it was yrs ago and I was hammered drunk, stoned and on shrooms. good times man good times
