Paints :
amzn.to/3GSzXXb Army Painter Speedpaint MEGA set(all the current colors I use)
amzn.to/3vSWw7R Army Painter Speedpaint Starter Set (still a great set of colors)
amzn.to/3vSWw7R Vallejo Medium Thinner (Love this verses adding water to paints)
amzn.to/3ZrjrEQ Army Painter Mixing Balls (1-2 of these plus a drop of Vallejo Thinner to shake things up easy!)
amzn.to/3GAZrHr Vallejo Basic Starter Set if you want to try out their acrylics. I use these and Army Painter both.
amzn.to/3QxNs1z 3 color pack of Badger primers if you use an Airbrush for priming. Don't ship these during a season where they can freeze during shipping.

I am seeing a video viewing uptick, probably from new folks receiving their 2.0 version of DRG, so always feel free to ask any questions you might have. I usually respond within 24 hours depending on the time zone differences we have.
Couple more subs and I'll reach my 200 mark! Thanks for the support folks.
Nice work, I started painting this game a few weeks ago, and your videos have given me a lot of ideas. This update even more so.
One thing I thought I could share : I mainly use speedpaint 1.0, and took the time to find a mix that really match the colour of the ground on the tiles. I settled on 1 part Dark Wood, 2 part Pallid Bone and 3 part Holly White, and I'm extremely happy with the result.
I just have to work against the speedpaint sometimes to get some texture on the flat part but it works quite well with just one or two pass of this mix.
I'm so happy to get feedback like this as that was my goal to help get the creative juices going for others about to paint these. I definitely got more hits on this most recent video so I that has been a nice plus. I'm going to test out a model with speed paint 1.0 verses 2.0 I think on the next revised upload.
Somebody needs to paint the Leagues of Votann/Squats from Warhammer as the Deep Rock Galactic dwarves. Or maybe the other way around . . .
I guess I need to look at those. I have not touched Warhammer stuff..yet. The local game shop has had some players though so I need go watch a session and see if it's for me.
Love the update, thanks a bunch
Thanks! I'm slacking on other 3. Got distracted messing with new speedpaints. Soon though!
@@hopelesshobbyaddict I'm painting the Phobos Strike Team kill team, and I just got the Gallowfall kill team box, so I can keep myself busy during the wait 😂
When Painting over the speed paint did you have any issues with "reactivating" the speed paints (1.0) and getting the paints merging or mixing? I am looking to start painting my set soon and am very glad to have found your videos. They are a great inspiration to get started myself!
Thanks
It is definitely something you have to watch out for on the 1.0 version. I am the oddball that actually LIKES that fact they do that though and utilize that a number of times in the Deep Rock painting series. I have messed more with the 2.0 Speed paint, and it almost dries too fast after learning to deal with the 1.0. If you have the 1.0 Speed paint, you could also buy a small dropper of the 2.0 Speed paint Medium. I've been adding a drop of that in with my 1.0 when I dilute them. It does seem to help limit the reactivation if I want to do some acrylic edge highlighting doing it that way. That, or I just don't thin down my edge highlight paints with much liquid, which seems to be the big thing that activates them, the moisture.
Thanks so much for sharing these; still finding my feet with the speedpaints, but really want to get my DRG set painted sometime this year, so these guides are certainly giving the confidence to get stuck in, learn a bit from your successes and mistakes, and look forward to making a few of each for myself too!
Thanks for the feedback! I have really enjoyed creating these, and I think that helped me actually finish painting a whole game for a first time as an added bonus :)
hi! I am very interested in technique. I also have the speedpaint and they work very well. One question, the mini is printed with FDM. Good video! I feel my English...
I used a resin printer, FDM printers would not work well for models like this because of how the files were designed. FatDragonGames designs miniatures to print on FDM style printers though. I use an older Creality LD-002H for reference. Newer ones would do even better.
thanks for the updated guide! question, do you thin your speed paints or just use it straight from the dropper?
Depends. Some are thicker than others, and sometimes I want to dial back the intensity. Those instances I'd start adding in a drop or two until I get it looking and feeling right. Takes some experimenting. Granted I just got the full 2.0 mega set in last week, so no idea how those new speed paints flow yet. I call it out in any of my painting guide videos if I do thin them. Definitely did it here and there throughout this series.
How were you able to 3d print the models? I cannot afford the game at the moment and was thinking about just getting the figures.
Well sadly you'd need to get a Resin Printer to print the "STL" files they offer, which a decent one on sale is probably going to run you at least $180-230 for Anycubic, Creality, etc. Resin, figure another $20-30 for that if your prints came out good with no failures. They are generally more fragile then your factory produced plastic miniatures as well. Drop them and it might break an arm/leg off depending on the resin used to print them. Lots to unpack there. PLUS, resin printing is terrible messy/toxic overall. Unless you have a space outside a home, away from people/pets/etc, I'd highly not recommend it, but others might disagree with me on that. I have a shed on my property so the fumes don't bother the family, etc.
@hopelesshobbyaddict Come to think of it though, I think the STL files were only on sale during the kickstarter, so your best bet might be to just watch the 2nd hand market for someone onloading the base game.
@@hopelesshobbyaddict oh darn, I just want the 4 dwarves
@@rytold8471 Yah sadly they have not offered up any miniature packs for sale. Maybe one day.
