      Me too! It’s a generational thing,I think. “Practice makes perfect” & “try and try again”. Don’t worry of failure,not like lots of UA-cam videos,probably edited 100’s of time,too ashamed to show the mistakes along the way!Hence,the younger viewers get stressed if they cannot follow tutorials to a “T” I’ve seen it first hand,not a pretty sight 😳

Thanks for showing the full process I think that’s really commendable because I too get frustrated with projects I work on and always think I am doing it wrong due to others skipping over the trial and error process.

    What a delight you are! I ran across this video randomly whilst looking for some tips on a diy pen/pencil roll (no sewing machine). I’m so glad I clicked! Not only have I learned a neat way to showcase an often given gift from my mother, one plate and napkin set from Tuesday Morning. They are always “special” and leapt out just for her, for me. (Yes, I love my mama!). But I don’t always find use for every set. So, now It’s art AND what’s better, it’s proof of appreciation! Anyone with a mom that lets you know just how much thought and care went into a $1 gift will understand the need for pageantry. Not only that amazing gift, but I loved just listening to Janeda! Soothing and sassy...thank you for being you!

      Me too. The crazy culture we live in affords us no peace and quiet. I personally think that is why we have so many cases of insanity.
      Every store, supermarket, waiting room, restaurant, gas station, mall, etc. play audio with lyrics that repeat themselves over and over by a singer whose range is not even an octave. I wish there could be a law outlawing the omnipresent racket. It is deplorable.

    • @LadyAnneJT
      @LadyAnneJT 4 роки тому +7

      @@monicafarrington7798 I agree completely. Even more annoying - to me, at least - is vocalists who "gussy up" the tune, adding trills and do-wops that aren't in the original. Sing it the way it was written, or write your own song!

    • @monicafarrington7798

      @@LadyAnneJT Yes, all those extra notes are sooo annoying. Years ago I had some singing lessons. The teacher used to describe those excursions off the score as "going off into voice land." • @twischta
      @twischta 5 років тому

      Not everything is jealousy. I disliked the video simply because of the use of plastic wrap to 'glue' the napkin. It's absolutely unnecessary and can be accomplished with glue the same way.

    • @sharonb.7867
      @sharonb.7867 5 років тому +4

      @@twischta because you would do it a different way doesn't make her way "bad" -warrenting a thumbs down! Beauty as they say is in the eye of the beholder. Perhaps I am incorrect-but you sound arrogant! Humility is being able to do something a better or different way and being GRACIOUS to the other person. If I have read your attitude incorrectly I apologize-IF NOT LOOK FOR SOME GRACE AND HUMILITY!

    • @twischta
      @twischta 5 років тому

      @@sharonb.7867 Well, I simply stated *why* I disliked the video. I never said the way I would do it was better in terms of technique. I thumbed it down because of the unnecessary use of plastic, simple as that. If that makes me arrogant, so be it. Btw. this never had anything to do with beauty or anything. It's simply the fact of using stuff that is absolutely detrimental to the environment just to make it a smidge more comfortable to the crafter. There is enough glue available that has the same effect as saran wrap when ironed with a lot less impact on the environment.
      From the way you sound, I guess you are one of those people that laminate each and everything just to throw it in a landfill a month later, right?
      Oh well, I am off to learn some grace and humility... without having to scream and throw a tantrum in a comment using all caps.
      Have a nice life.

    • @willaminaviolet
      @willaminaviolet 5 років тому +2

      Shamayne -
      Sadly, you are delusional.
      Glue (or even paste) would tear up and dissolve that napkin to bits and you would have bubbles and wrinkling all over the card. The only other alternative would be laminate - which would not be cost effective and you would lose the texture and cloth like feel of the napkin. Plastic wrap is also the most “green” method I can think of (please let me know if I’m mistaken). I’m totally fascinated by people’s arrogance when they clearly have no clue what they are talking about. I guess you had the need to feel important? You failed miserably.
      Try sniffing the glue instead.

    Your site popped up on my UA-cam, so I thought I would watch it. Well! I have never seen this done before, how amazing. You certainly have a wonderful sense of humour, the iron comment made me laugh and laugh. I am an abstract artist and have never tried anything like this, I feel I should give it a go. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us..Cheers from Australia August 2019.

    Thank you. This is one of those methods that I'd read about and always intended to do "some day". Watching your video prompted me to dig the iron out and do it. I'm so messy with glue & this gave such a quick & effective result. I'll be using it much more in the future. (The iron is still in shock from emerging from the cupboard)

    So glad I stumbled upon this. I remember waaaaaay back in my youth using this kind of a technique to apply fabric "patches" cut into shapes on bluejeans for decoration. If I remember correctly it held up great for a surprising number of washes. My wonderful proto-sister-in-law just sent me some delightful fancy-schmancy paper napkins and I think I'm going to try this with them. Thanks!

    I wish kids would learn these lovely techniques at school! There doesn’t seem to be time for home economics or art in many of the schools and if they do teach it’s only once a month. It’s very important for children to start using their imagination by learning a technique and then hopscotching their way up to something different. You are a very good teacher and although I probably wouldn’t make this card, you got my juices flowing which is very important these days when people aren’t encouraged to think.

    Instead of a plain sheet of paper, I use the backing sheet from stick-on labels, like from a sheet of Avery mailing labels, and after ironing, nothing sticks -- it peels right off. Try that; I think you will find it easier. Also, you can use the backing sheet several times even after it is scorched. I really liked your instructional style. Well done.

    I love using napkins! I have never done the cling wrap way, I just use a glue stick and apply it to the whole card and lay the napkin on it and smooth it out! it’s amazing what it looks like once it’s dry. You can separate the napkins with a piece of tape, just put it on the back and lift up. Makes it easy.

  • @Ravenzpeak
    @Ravenzpeak 5 років тому +5

    You could try putting double sticky tape on your fingers. I've tried it and it worked well on heavier napkins to get the layers apart. Great video!

  • @ozongat581

    To get rid of the corners of the two layers of the napkins, the use of an adhesive tape is recommended: simply apply to the second layer and thus peel off the first layer ... works well! Nice video!!
