It has been brought to my attention, MANY TIMES..LOL Love y'all...lol That I FORGOT THE PARCHMENT PAPER!!! Thank you! With that being said, I will be testing the fabric with the parchment paper.... AGAIN, since soooo many think it will work differently with it, AND I NEED TO LEAVE THE IRON SIT IN SPOTS longer! I am a good sport, I have heard your TIPS and for the sake of CRAFTING SCIENCE... LOL. In march I will be TESTING SUBSCRIBERS HACKS! So, we WILL be doing this AGAIN!! muhauahauha.....LOL! SOOOO....Stay tuned for that!
Love ya'll, Brandi
We love you too!
Can you do tissue paper this way?
You’re awesome!
This is the science I care about. 🔬
Lol...
I use parchment paper to cover fabric and plastic! That way it doesn't melt on your iron!
For the fabric piece - lay the iron down in the middle to create a seal which will hold the fabric in place, instead of starting at the edge. Once the middle is sealed, trim around the edges. In this way, you can drape a big piece of cling wrap and not have to cut it the same size as the fabric.
I've shared in videos how I have done this and some times bubbling occurs. I explained in great detail recently in my decoupage cabnet video and showed how bubbles can form if I don't do it from side to side depending on how it's ironed. Thanks for the tip though! I am glad it works for you!!
thanks for trying these out Brandy. Really appreciate it. I wonder if using parchment paper over the fabric/paper would keep the plastic wrap from melting to your iron? Might be worth a shot *grins*
Thank you for taking 1 for the team and trying out all these different papers!!!😊 appreciate it! Class 101
It was fun hanging out with you. Lots of good information.
THANKS FOR THIS GIRL!! When I use this technique I iron on with parchment paper over it so I don’t get plastic wrap on my iron but for my “sealer” I put another layer of plastic wrap on top and iron with parchment or wax paper to protect my iron!!
Hi Brandi. I loved learning this along with you. I just had a few questions. Have you tried it on a painted surface with a napkin? Have you tried it with burlap? How about with tissue paper? I loved that napkin! Did you know if you keep your cling wrap in the fridge it won't stick to itself?
Thank you for your time, I appreciate you.
I didn’t know that about cling wrap! I don’t think I have room for it in my fridge but that’s good to know. Thanks!
❤️💜💚
Thank you for always trying stuff out for us. So then we learn from you STRUGGLES. Your amazing person and a great inspiration to others. As always THANK YOU for all the great advice.
awww Bless you NAN (HUGS)
Great video. Thank you so much. I always love hanging out with you. It’s so fun and informative. 😁
Need to iron a long time for both paper and fabric! I often times put two layers of plastic wrap under the fabric! Also, my fabric stays on after I seal them, but I use polyacrylic!
Thanks for trying these to show what works and what doesn't.
I always learn so much from your tutorials. Thank you!!
❤️💚💙🧡
Thank you for testing this out for us. So for fabric we're back to good ole modpodge. It works, that's fine. Thanks for trying.
Great tutorial ! I’ve never seen this method before !Doing this with the iron scares me and Idon‘t think I would like to see my iron have plastic wrap glued to it ! Thanks for showing us this method ! I learned a lot !
Thanks for showing this to us. We all need to know what works and what doesn't !!
Thank you for the heads up 😮I was going to buy one but I’ll just do the budget friendly route.❤
I have that lil baby iron! I love it!
Thank you so much for doing this for us! Your the s***! 🥰 Love you girlie❤️
(Hugs)
You can do it with any thing. Parchment paper use always with anything you want to do
Thank you for doing this experiment. That was cool to see.
Thanks for trying these out so we know!
Thank you I actually learned something from you today actually learn something everyday but thank you
Oh praise be, cause some days I wonder if I am helpful at all..lol thanks you Janice!
Hi, just came on the channel. If you would place parchment or copy paper over the fabric it will save the iron from the plastic. You most likely know this, just got ahead of yourself. Nice work.
Haha!! I always love tips!!
This was interesting. Thank you for taking one for the team again!
Great tips. I enjoy watching your tutorial videos, I learn a lot.😀👍
you can cover the fabric with parchment paper before ironing to melt the saran wrap
Definitely something different. I've never tried it, glad I watched this before thinking about it. 😉
I was wondering about the parchment paper too
Thank you Brandi!
You are so funny. Thanks for making me laugh. ❤️
I have the truck napkins. They are so cute.
Thank you for this tutorial. It was informative and helpful. Really like that you're doing these type of tutorials to teach us the best way.
Idk if they always help, ( I am so glad this one did) but at least you can save time seeing someone else do it step by step and not filtering any results out. This helps (in my opinion) you make decisions for yourself on if you want to waste your time trying it or not, ya know?? I have botched way to many projects, especially home demolition or renovations, because I did not have accurate step by step information. It goes a lot way knowing exactly what your getting in to, or knowing if something didn't work for one person you can try another method! Saves time and especially money.
For some reason I expected you to put cling wrap on the top and bottom. I may try this on my heat press. Great info!
This was so nice of you Brandy I always wondered if this worked or not. Thank you so much. I love you I love your tutorials your videos your DIY‘s God bless.
Put some patchment paper between the iron and the fabric. That should help.
You can probably put parchment paper over the napkin that way If you have excess plastic wrap hanging over it won't stick to the iron
Interesting thank you Brandy
I love this new method. Thank you for sharing.👸🏽👸🏽👏🏾👏🏾💜💜
Thank you. 🤗
I have used the plastic wrap and napkin to make card fronts. They turn out beautiful and the texture is so nice.
Great idea
Brandy I just saw a video the other day I think it was tick tock but I saw it on Pinterest somebody doing this method but instead of putting a sealer on top they put another piece of plastic on top and then melted it on with the parchment paper that might actually work to keep it from tearing off
I am going to have to try this! They turned out great! TY for taking the time to do this tutorial!!! 🥰
Don't forget the parchment paper!! Apparently I did and people are letting me know...lol
@@thediystruggle people 🤦🏼♀️
@Rhonda Eversole lol Hey it got people commenting..lol I'm a glass half full kinda girl...lol
Thanks Brandi! Looks like we need to use Mod Podge on fabric and paper. I was really hoping it would work on everything. Oh well, can't have everything I guess. Thanks again! ☺☺♥♥
I see that you did this quite a while ago, but I'm throwing my 2 cents in anyway. I believe that the saran wrap works best when using paper on paper eg. paper with napkin or tissue paper.
@@AnitaYourAvonRepresentative I welcome 2 cents!! And, the information might help someone reading the comments
Thank you for the demo. Makes choices easier💕💕
My sister puts parchment paper on the top before she irons her projects. She says it works great. I have not tried it yet.
I think you should of tried letting the mod pod dry 24 hours then see if it bubbled or lifted enjoy watching ya😊
good suggestion! Thank you!
You’re the bomb girl! Always so funny and your DIY’s are always fabulous…period ❤️
You are always to kind Paige, thank you!
Use parchment paper on top of what you're decoupaging next time. That'll stop the plastic from melting onto your iron.
I always love ur videos. You're a hoot, your DIY's & furniture updates super great!!
I think I would take the pointed edge of the iron around the top edges, move down the center then iron side edges. Or start in the middle & move out 2 the edges. Keeps the iron cleaner.
Super fun! I'm impressed with your highly scientific approach! Give us more Professor Brandy! I wonder how it would work on a paper box or something. It might adhere better than the wood. Maybe even on fabric - napkin on fabric! 💡
Oooo, like the idea of napkins on fabric
I am going to try this! I have many "mod podge", projects I want to do!! I've got to say, you have really inspired me to try it! I'll have to go back and rewatch some of your videos !! Thanks!
I need to make a decoupage playlist. I do not know if I have one.. it would make it a lot easier for people.. I will work on that now!! I am glad I could help Kim!!!
Bless you and thank you for taking your time to try all this for us!!😘 LOVE these videos!!
Great ideas/hacks Brandi!! I love hanging out with you as well!! Love your show!!🤣❤😍
Thank you!!!
I keep a damp old dish towel next to my iron and when it gets gunky I rub it over the wet towel and the gunk comes right off. I work with Heat n Bond a lot but it’s expensive. I tried fusing gift wrap and tissue with plastic wrap on cardstock but I couldn’t get either to stick but you have inspired me to try again. I use my heat resistant silicone mat under my project and parchment paper over the top when I use Heat n Bond and I have a lot less mess. The silicone mat is cleanable, the parchment can be to a point before it’s no good anymore. I have a thought I want to try… freezer paper bonds to paper and to some thin fabrics. It’s a great stabilizer, I wonder if I back them with freezer paper then set with plastic wrap would it work better and hold long term. Hmmm, will have to experiment with that when I get time. Love your videos, you save us effort and you inspire me!
Why didn't you use your wax paper/parchment paper to keep from melting the plastic wrap on the iron? You did with the "inspire" one....I think.
LOVE this video! Very useful information and was fun to watch. (I was so afraid when you picked up the iron and put it on your hand at the beginning 🤣🤣🤣)
I was having a brain fart
@@thediystruggle 🤣🤣
I appreciate this video because every time I decoupage with anything I get wrinkles so it's nice to know that the saran wrap works great with the napkins! Thank you!
I really love the iron on method if you have a flat surface with wood. Oh its just stunning and the napkin really really melts into the mod podge creating a gooooooood bond!
Thanks for that information 🤣🤣
Thanks for this tutorial. I may try this method. I want to make a key hanger and this looks like a good way to make one.
I doubt that you are going to take a pic and dig into your piece, so I would go ahead and seal it if that's the look your going for.
Well the others pealed so easily that I don't think I'll be using cling wrap with paper or fabric, however the napkin stuck really good. I may try this method.
I use polyacrylic on top for a sealer. I don't have that issue. And my edges were sealed down good after saran wrap. But I guess I will check my items tomorrow. For I never took a tool to my items or my fingernail. Will pay more attention to that issue.
Great video Brandi. I have never used the plastic wrap method… never even seen it…
Interesting. The mod podge iron on is my go to method.
Can you use parchment between the iron and the fabric/napkin/paper?
Have u tried sealing the top of ur DIY w/another piece of plastic wrap? Let it cool then place the plastic on the top, get a piece of freezer paper or parchment paper. Iron the plastic wrap, cool & remove the top paper. Who knows, it might work. I think I'll try it myself.
Thank you, Brandy 😊
You are so welcome, THANK YOU for watching and hanging out!
Parchment on top of them
I just Love watching you! You are Sooo Cooot!
Oh thank you!
Wow! interesting!
Thank you so much for sharing! I did learn new stuff! This was a great information, love these tutorials!! Thanks again Brandi for all you do ♥♥
I appreciate you so much girlie!!!
Can someone try experiment putting images in to lunch boxes and cellophane bags please would be such a treat I wanna put image into the storage containers somehow with clear image n brighten up my storage stuff would appreciate it thank u great video
I LOVE this tutorial!! Although the paper and fabric pieces had cooled, I wonder if letting them "cure" 12 hours or overnight would have had a different outcome.?? Great video Brandi!! 😊🙏
Do you do live videos sometimes? Cuz you with no filter crakes me up! 😂❤🎉
I do these and talk as I go. I have recently had a lot of people ask about subscriptions and if I would do lives. I do not have anything like that set up yet, but I am thinking about it!!! Thank you so much for the interest!
Do you think this hack would work with a picture? Thanks for testing out these hacks
I do not.. I think it would melt off with the heat of the iron but, A reverse decoupage would work with a picture! I hope that helps!
I wonder if the fabric would attach better with Fabric Fusing Tape Hem Adhesive . It can be bought by the yard and although it would be more expensive than plastic wrap, it’s 24” wide so it would still go a long way.
Interesting take on it! Thank you!
Hey Brandi.... Im new to you and now a subscriber! ;) I was curious about a spray sealant, shlack, or gloss???? Would that do the same thing as the decopage???? Also have you retried the fabric with the decopage and parchment paper yet to see if it peeled as well? Personally, I dont think it would make a difference but I'd love to see your new tutorial on the new questions that this video brought up.... Keep up the excellent job of keeping us informed! I love your videos! :)
Hey you! Welcome!! Sorry so late getting to your questions. I try my beat to get through as many comments as I can a day!
So I have decoupage a piece and used spray paint sealer. If that's what you mean over the piece. Yes and on furniture too. I have videos of it around here somewhere...lol Napkins, paper all works the same just make sure you let the decoupage piece cure 48 hours first.
Specially if it's a table top or something!
And, yes parchment paper protects mostly. It don't matter much in this case for the cling wrap it was the heat. Iron isn't hot enough
I put a sheet of parchment on top of fabric when i iron for decoupage.
I was a noob and forgot the parchment paper..lol We are gonna tackle this again in march I am doing a subscriber hack video!
@@thediystruggle I'm looking forward to it! 💗
So I watched another channel and she put the Saran wrap on top too so not sure if that makes it better or not but makes me wonder now.
Good to know and see what the results were with different materials. I’m totally bummed from seeing it last week and then this tutorial 😭💔😭 thought we had an amazing hack here 😢 if I were doing something for my own home with a napkin I would definitely use it bc it’s flawless and when I want to change it out all ya gotta do it add some mod podge and take it off so easily and reuse the piece.
Thanks again for being the Guinea Pig 🐖 lol
Have a great night
Bout to come get me some napkins!!!
Love my new napkins!
Honey! You need parchment paper or a Teflon sheet when ironing over the suran wrap
I forgot it.. I do the iron on method with mod podge without it sometimes to get it done quicker. I might post a short using the fabric and parchment paper. I personally don't think the results will change other than keeping it from sticking to my iron. Thanks for the reminder my friend!
how bout parchment paper over your paper or fabric to keep the iron clean?
I pinned a comment thanking everyone for the reminder about forgetting the parchment paper!!!
I'm interested to know how it would work with a picture you print on tissue paper!
If you have a printer! You can tape (gingerly) I usually use double sided tape on to a regular piece of paper and tape the tissue paper cut to size on the regular paper. And, print the image.
I personally have the best results with rice paper. Hope this helps!
How long after you put the sealer on did you peel it off? Was it 24 hours, or just a couple of hours? I'm just wondering if the results would have been different if you let it cure for a day or so before attempting to peel it off? I was going to mention the parchment paper to protect your iron, but a lot of other viewers did. I definitely wouldn't use wax paper. I hope you do another one of these with some of the suggestions from the comments. I feel like we were in the lab experimenting tonight, Brandi. I love these videos. ♥
It was about an hour! I usually do an hour for filming with time unless Its something serious then i wait 24 hrs and I usually say that in the video. If i don't im like YOU let it dry..lol but for this is was about an hour.. and you might be right! We are going to test out more theories in March Linda! I still have so many questions and ideas about this. March I am doing subscriber hacks so we will see! Thank you my sweet friend!
Put parchment paper on top of fabric
I use that method and I did seal it, but I spray painted with a sealer. I was too afraid to wet it. Am I glad I didn’t use a water based sealer. Question; who in hell is going to try and pull it off?😖
I love those tags. Thanks for the inspiration!
Lol
can you do this on a charger plate
I have never tried! Sorry I don't have information for that
Use wax paper on top. This will protect your iron
I completely forgot that part...lol ty
Another person put a layer between the paper with parcementpaper Maybe that would keep the iron from the plastic wrap
Absolutely!! Thanks for the tip!!
Is it ok to put parchment paper over the cloth, paper, or napkin?
Yes, I forgot too!
Can I iron directly on the wrap paper?
I do but it's not recommended
Thanks for sharing. I've had a love-hate relationship with modge Podge, particularly with scrapbook paper. I get so many bubbles. It seems that I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Does anybody have any suggestions?
What temperature should the iron have?
Like 350 ish
Here I am again. What if you used a clear spray sealer instead of the wet.
You have to iron on the wrap paper directly ??????
Use parchment paper between
What if you use parchment paper over it. Then the plastic wrap won’t stick.
Yes, this!
Put parchment over top😅
I was sitting here thinking,it looked easier last time lol
LOL.. that's what happens when I post stuff in the fridays videos.. it's fancy smancy edited...lol
Are you on Pinterest &/R Facebook?
I need to save this on Pinterest! TIA
I do have a pinterest I am not sure if I have this loaded on it! Thank you for asking!
I have a decoupage question that I’m hoping someone can help with please…I painted a pizza pan with black chalk paint, let it dry overnight, added mod podge just to the flat bottom round area where pizza would go, let it dry overnight, then placed a pretty thick cut out from a calendar over the dried mod podge, then put parchment paper over it and ironed it for a few minutes…the paper ended up warping and not sticking very well. What did I do wrong and is there a way to wet the paper to save it as I love the image and don’t have another 🥲 TIA
The iron on method works best with Wood. Metal kinda is a heat conductor and activates from underneath probably overheating it. What I would try if you want to do a pizza pan if mod podge little by little and use the sponge, plastic wrap or your finger! Krafty Kathy is a good one to watch for the plastic wrap decoupage. She is always using that stuff! I hope this helps!
