@@vailingbow1068 could you put into words how you'd consider them different. Like, don't both mean that something to do with spiking the ball was delayed.
@@thejadedjester4935 They literally ARE different. You can literally tell by reading and even watching the anime. Asahi delayed his SPIKE, Ushijima and his team delay the JUMP 🤦♂
Everyone was cheering because they thought Asahi was faking and deliberately tipped. Meanwhile Tsuki, galaxy brain that he is, immediately recognized that it was a mistake and just started laughing
When he's saying he can't be as accurate as Kageyama he's more referring to this specific set. Kageyama has been doing this set for months now so he has plenty of experience setting the minus tempo and how to use it. This is Atsumu's first time trying something like this so he's obviously not going to be quite as accurate. It's honestly a real testament to Atsumu's raw skill and flexibility that he was able to pull something like this off mid-game when he only saw the hit once.
Kageyama has been one of a kind when it comes to his set accuracy throughout the show. Like a freaking robot actually. Every setter we've ever seen seems to note that they can't do the same thing Kageyama does in that scarily accurate way.
@@zethstar3475 he recognized instantly in the last episode. i was surprised because no one of my friends did it until the players talked about it. I obviously knew because I read the manga. So maybe I would have been fooled too
I actually kind of forget how bad some of the stills in this episode looked because the last scene with Yamaguchi and his mentor is so touching to me hahah. You'd love the rewatch, because you'll even see how Yamaguchi's eyes light up the first time he sees a jump float by his mentor way back in season 1. Thanks for the content as always coach :)
@@ElevateYourselfOfficial This episode looked bad because it was outsourced to a different studio due to covid. There is only 1 more episode that looks off (but it still looks better then this episode) the rest of the season is good.
The thing that always gets me is that Yamaguchi's mentor noticed pretty quickly that his pupil was struggling in trying to reset (something that he taught him episodes ago). Plus he had time to run to the other side of the gymnasium so he could be behind inarizaki's court and in view of Yamaguchi. It is so wholesome.
Istg in the manga that is such an adrenaline-inducing sequence, since you see Shimada realizing that the exit sign is blocked from Tadashi's view, and proceed to make a mad dash there to show him the plastic bag :') My heart was honestly wrecked and then deflated from relief XD I understand why they cut it, but man was it a ride to read that part
@@magacofi I can see how that dash could be crazy suspenseful, but I think the anime moment also worked because they aimed to evoke a different emotion out of you entirely. Like how it did with Coach Donny, you felt panic, relief, and then just heartfelt gratitude and admiration for Shimada.
@@nevaladder Yeah! I don't dislike it, it's just two different ways to approach the scene. Edit: oh, the only nitpick would be that it feels a bit out of nowhere. But, since you can still understand what happened, it's all good.
3:49 To ponder on this: Atsumu and Osamu are very competitive. It's not that Osamu *trusts* Atsumu to make a good play, but as his "rival" Osamu *knows* the ball's going to be there. I really love this aspect of Haikyuu where competition isn't stereotypically just about "getting better" than your competitor, but it's also that you *know* your competitor. You *chose* that person to compete against and by extension, it's a taunt from Osamu to Atsumu "You will give me that ball." And from Atsumu to Osamu "You will hit it" *Or. Else.*
It can also be interpreted as "I'm good, and I know the ball will come to me." Or, "We both want to win, so the ball *will* come to me and I *will* hit it.". Trust isn't required in any scenario. I didn't really interpret it in a competitive light because the context doesn't really support that implication.
@@spin.chicken I do think it's an ongoing theme throughout haikyuu; when Hinata provokes Kageyama for the ball for their first open-eyed freak quirk in s2, and throughout the second Karasuno vs. Dateko match where Kageyama had to reconcile with being king of the court and Hinata telling him it was okay to be demanding of his teammates as long as he was nice about it. I think it builds up to this moment and completes itself [SPOILER ALERT] during Aran's narration of how "Atsumu's greatest gift is Osamu" because they keep up with and compete with each other. I don't remember exactly what I felt when I watched this scene alone, probably confused as this was a piece of a bigger puzzle, but looking back on it, I can appreciate the implications of the theme left throughout the seasons as I've mentioned before. But I can totally see how it can be interpreted without the competition aspect; I just tend to look at the bigger picture and overall theme when considering things, or in this case, reconsidering after rewatching it.
@@gh-ps5es I'm not really going to read all that. It may be an ongoing theme, but that doesn't mean the evidence of OTHER characters translates to unrelated characters. Just because Kageyama and Hinata share a specific relationship doesn't imply Miya twins share the same relationship. Or, rather, doesn't imply that his statement is a direct reference to THAT. He knows the ball is coming because he knows he's good. He knows his brother. He knows they both want to win, and when both want to win they will set and play for each other. There's really nothing about his words that suggest YOUR implication. Rather, it supports my conclusion. You have to pay attention to what the related characters say and do. Not what OTHER characters say and do. Other characters don't translate to these characters.
@@gh-ps5es After glancing through your message: No. You aren't looking at things in a bigger picture. You're actually being more narrow minded because you're taking a sample that represents other characters and applying it to different characters without any supporting evidence. . . There is literally absolutely no other way to interpret "I know the balls comin'." That does not translate to sibling rivalry and sibling competitiveness at all. . .
@@spin.chicken alright, then please make your own comment and discuss with like-minded people just like I am. I hope you can enjoy Haikyuu as you have been.
26:55 osamu wasn´t scared. He meant it more like "Of course I´m not scared" Thats why Hinata was thinking of the scariest single blocker he went up against
So I think you missed a little detail with Yamaguchi at the end. It wasn’t that he was having trouble resetting per say (like due to nerves or something) but that his reset point that he had been using since the previous day was suddenly obstructed by a flag/sign thing. Then he started panicking because he felt he couldn’t focus without being able to see that reset point and was trying to look for another one to use. So it’s not that he was panicking because he didn’t have a reset point at all but because he suddenly lost the one he was using.
Not sure how much the editing changed since I caught the first version of the video, but props to James for setting the coach up :"D But hey, I'm actually really glad he enjoyed the episode and its great moments despite production issues. A couple of tiny clarifications - the MB Hinata remembered is Matsukawa, another senior from Seijou, and Tadashi is Yamaguchi's first name! It's common to address people using their last name in Japan, first name is ~usually~ (but far from always, cue Oikawa calling Kageyama ~Tobio~ just to tease) for family/close friends.
Well while it is uncommon, I believe sometimes some upperclassman will also address you by your first name i.e. Noya calling Hinata “Shoyo” despite not being close friend. But yeah, Okinawa is definitely calling Kageyama “Tobio” to tease him
@@zak725 Thats a very specific case, since Nishinoya has stated that he doesn't really like those kind of formalities. That's the reason he calls Hinata by first name.
Most people follow the -san honorifics for almost everyone. Sometimes just the family name. Sometimes with -kun for someone younger/junior. But. It's not always like that. It's personal preference unless for adults-children or employer-employee or client-service procider dynamics. Actually, it's becoming far more common now for young adults and teens to call each other by first names. Especially those in big cities. (I've teached at several high schools in the Kanto region the past 10 years) Also keep in mind that this is an anime, and the way characters address each other adds to the story telling, but isn't indicative of how scenarios like this might play out in actual social settings.
@@zak725 omg I know you didn't mean it but you cracked me up by mispelling Oikawa's name LOL The mental image of a Japanese prefecture saying Tobio was top tier random comedy
Hey coach, I noticed that you couldn’t remember who inuoka is. He’s the really energetic blocker from Nekoma with short, spikey, brown hair that was Hinata’s original “rival” before Lev showed up and took his place in the starting lineup.
32:26 Coach you missed out that epic Tsukki laugh. Hope you can watch in next week repeatedly at least 5 times. HAHAHA Also hope you say it right when they do a synchronized attack. "Synchro Kougeki" I always have fun saying it when they about to execute it.
25:07 one of my favorite covers in the manga is from this chapter where Osamu is dressed like a prim and proper businessman facing off against a Hinata who is dressed up in an elementary school uniform; indicating the difference in their skill levels at present!!
On Daichi's 'Super Saiyan' moment: I think he already had it, and it's not as bombastic as anyone else's, and it rules. Daichi's big moment was the match against Wakutani, the pink-uniform team with the other "little giant" from season 2. The focus is on Daichi for a while, both as a strong defender that's tough to deal with, as well as a strong leader who can keep his team in a good headspace. Daichi's not as much of a standout for his skills; he can't hit like Asahi or Hinata, he can't block like Tsukki, and even though he'd probably be a standout receiver on most teams, he's definitely a step behind Nishinoya. But we all know that Daichi is indispensable to the team. So what does the show do to prove it? They dispose of him. He gets injured, has to sit out the remainder of the match, and Ennoshita steps in. And we see Ennoshita step up, and it's a big moment for him, yeah. But I think, coach, you'll agree with me when I say that Ennoshita's success on the court, the team's success in that match (and every match), is Daichi's success, too; not just because he's a member of the team, but because he took responsibility to cultivate the team. What's impressive about Daichi is not and probably should not be some singular show of incredible prowess. What's impressive about Daichi is the unwavering support he gives his team. He sets a good example for them in his discipline AND in his emotions. He shows up consistently with drive to improve and compete, he recognizes the efforts of his teammates, he listens to them and defers to their knowledge when appropriate. He builds their confidence and trust ALONGSIDE their skills so that they go hand-in-hand. And when he has to sit out, it's okay, because the environment he helped create can sustain itself beyond him. He more than justifies his spot as a starter in the games; he's definitely skilled enough to hang. But by the time they're on the court, his most important contributions have already been made. I think you already agree with all this, so I guess I'm just taking an opportunity to rant about Daichi. That dude rules.
The teams we see in the ending aren't just training and watching, the anime ended up cutting it until the last few episodes, but in the manga, they were the ones giving commentary, and also adding to some of the world building. Such as Shiratorizawa suggesting that during their previous trip to Nationals, Inarizaki were the ones that eliminated them. This is also why Inarizaki, having seen Karasuno also win against Shiratorizawa, use that game as their point of comparison in analysis.
Coach , you missed the momment when Hinata made a great toss to Asahi . Hinata himself was so amazed and happy, but Kageyame said it was pure luck with a funny face expression that was funny Lol 🤣🤣
32:19 Asahi tipped accidentally. He tried to waint until the block was going down to hit, but ended up not properly reaching the ball and accidentally tipping it. That's why he apologized
Hinata being so purely overjoyed every time his plays go well is just the most wholesome thing ever, and also relatable, 'cause that's exactly how it feels for me when I somehow manage a really good play; like a good dig in an awkward position because a reflex got me there, a good spike because I sync-ed my approach, jump, and swing to the T (which I count because it's still hard for me to be consistent with those), a serve that the others couldn't catch several times in a row... for a new player like me, who has just been playing for some months, those moments feel like something lights up inside you, and you feel crazy happy because you KNOW it was a good play, and you just replay those in your head and just remembering them lifts your mood and makes you want to make them a constant
that last scene would be even more touching if it was showed like in the manga. the mentor notices the exit sign is blocked so runs all the way to be in direct sight of yamaguchi
Inuoka is Nekoma's #7, Hinata's energetic "counterpart" on that team Inuoka was the first blocker to get hands on the freak quick and eventually actually block it. He was coached to mark HInata full-time in that first match. Aone and Inuoka were the first to block the frick, so Ukai told Hinata to mark Osamu to combat their frick.
I love the scene where Yamaguchi's mentor (Shimada) helped him regain his focus but I still feel kinda sad that the entire scene leading up to that wasn't shown in the anime. It's just a tiny change honestly, but in the manga, it showed the mentor running from karasuno's side for the audience all the way to Inarizaki's side just so he can show that Shimada Mart plastic bag to Yamaguchi (Tadashi Yamaguchi is his full name :). That's why he was panting at that scene while screaming and holding up the bad to Yamaguchi. Oh, and the reason he did it was because he knew that the "Exit" sign is what Yamaguchi uses as his "reset" mark for the match, and he realized that the sign visible to Yamaguchi during his serve is being blocked by the Inarizaki flag. That's why he rushed over to that side and did what he did. For me, it made the scene much more emotional since it shows just how much Shimada had come to care for his student, and also how far Yamaguchi had come.
4:45 Osamu is actually complaining that Atsumu is pretty careless by saying something along the lines of "you make me nauseous [from these plays]" but it is Atsumu that decides to take that as a compliment.
Hey Coach! At 7:37 the "commentators" you were referring to, particularly the one with the beard, is the coach for the national men's volleyball team, which represents Japan worldwide. He was also the coach at the National Youth Training Camp that Kageyama went to. He doesn't have many lines this season, but I personally really like his open-mindedness to the Karasuno, and I highly encourage you to focus on his insights throughout the game, especially his thoughts about Hinata.
7:32 The person speaking is Fuki Hibarida, the Japan's National Volleyball Coach that was at the All-Japan Youth Training Camp where Kageyama was invited to. He is not the commentator. He is there at the Nationals to scout for talents, watch and observe the volleyball games. The person beside him is probably a manager or something. 26:43 When Osamu answered Atsumu "Like hell I'm scared" about Hinata, he meant he was not scared of Hinata. So Hinata was shocked and frustrated he does not scare Osamu. Hinata started thinking of people he has played against, scared him and hated their block the most was Aoba Johsai's 3rd year blocker Issei Matsukawa, the guy who sneezed in 28:59. He tried to imitate the stance of Seijoh Matsukawa and made Osamu hit the other way. 29:25 It's the same Japan's National Volleyball Coach Fuki Hibarida observing and commenting to the manager guy beside him. 38:32 Tadashi is Yamaguchi's first name. Yamaguchi is his last name. 39:04 The translation was a bit off. The translation they used was 'Damn' which can be confusing. Kinoshita said すげい sugei which is almost the same as すごい sugoi, which means Incredible, or something you say when you see something and you are impressed, in awe or something incredible.
Sō Inuoka is the spiky brown haired Wing Spiker / Middle Blocker from Nekoma High. He was the one who, in season 1, was the first to be able to touch Hinata's quick and eventually the first to block it as well. He was replaced by Lev, if I remember correctly. He's basically the Hinata of Nekoma ; energetic, bubbly and always happy.
On my second watch through, I really missed Inuoka. It's a shame that Lev got his spot cause he's so energetic and dedicated and I loved when he even cheered Hinatanon during their practice match. What Coach Ukaieant with be like Inuoka was to commit block and to stick to Osamu for every spike, like Inuoka did to Hinatanin their first practice game
Tadashi is Yamaguchi's first name. 😁 The fact that Shimada calls him by his first name shows how close they have become 🥰 as none of the other adults or coaching staff (as I can recall) ever call any of the Karasuno athletes by their first name
27:08 Coach, you got this scene wrong. The scene where Osamu said "like hell I'm scared" ( 26:55 ) actually meant that he wasn't. So when Hinata was remembering about aone, that was Hinata thinking of what an actual scary blocker is like.
The guy who Hinata is imitating for blocking is Seijoh’s middle, Matsukawa Issei. He also funneled Hinata a lot during their semifinals match against Seijoh. Also coach: remember Daichi means Ground or Earth. That’s Daichi’s role in the team. Not to stand out or be flashy, but to be that steady immovable foundation.
32:15 So this Asahi moment is Asahi still trying to stay in the air longer. He doesn't get it perfect which is why he ends up tipping. That's why Bokuto was shocked to see Karasuno still trying new things during the match.
I'm kinda glad you misunderstood what James meant about this episode, because I feel like you enjoyed it way more than 90% of the haikyuu Fandom lol. This episode is definitely my least favorite out of the whole series but it does have some pretty good moments.
Story will always win out over aesthetics. People who overly whine about aesthetics when everything else is at a good level just seem to just want to complain for complaining's sake.
Whatever what people say about it, this episode and by extent the entire season is actually the peak of Haikyuu in my opinion, so yeah, not everyone like the new artstyle (I think it's way better personally, the old looked like yaoi) and the animation is obviously really bad sometime, especially compared to what the season 3 or even the OVA before S4 showed us. But story-wise and volley-wise, it's the best season by far.
Coach, remember when we told you sometimes there were changes in the op and ed to match the story. Well if you haven't noticed, since the other teams are watching a live broadcast of the game, the scene showed in the phone in the ending is different each episode matching the plays in the episode. It's not a new animation since they reuse scenes from the episode, but it's a detail that I really like since I imagine every other player reacting to the most amazing play in every chapter.
man, watching Coach's reactions for Haikyuu makes me remembered myself when I watched it for the first time. Especially this Inarizaki match. I always catched myself holding my breath every time one episode ends. As a former (basketball) athlete, the Inarizaki match is the closest thing to a real-life match for me, so I never watched it again after the first time. The atmosphere and psychological aspects makes me remembering all my matches. But I really love your reaction Coach. So I will brave through my past anxieties and keep on watching you
The lower animation quality in this episode didn't even stick around in my memory for long the first time I watched, but man is it extremely noticeable on rewatches.
The reason tsuki was able to block osamu the very first time so easily was because he saw that the left wing spiker was in no approach to do a spike so tsuki labeled it down to only the middle and right side
This whole match is all about Kageyama, Hinata, and Tanaka being pushed into a corner until they all turn super saiyan under the pressure to evolve. This match is absolutely pivotal for everyone's volleyball careers.
One thing that really hits me about this episode is that, during the practices, we see Kinoshita land more jump float serves than Yamaguchi, and it gives me this feeling of like "what? someone was able to do what Yamaguchi worked so hard for without a lot of work!" which seems frustrating. But then, during the game, Yamaguchi's jump float serves end up being much more effective, because he is able to do them with consistency. It's one of the greatest lessons in Haikyuu: talent can produce good results sometimes, but consistent reliability only comes from hard work over a long period of time.
Similar to your "aiyaah" sound when playing. I played with some friends of a friend a year or so ago. Not much of a player personally but I always had a serving ritual ever since I was in middle school. When I went up to serve I heard a few times the other team laughing at me while I was doing it. So I decided to say something like "I don't know what's so funny, having a ritual isn't anything unusual. It's weirder that you guys are chuckling at me like a bunch of high schoolers." We're all around 30... Didn't get invited back but it was a good "I'm in control of myself and not afraid to be me" moment. I think we all need those no matter how old we are
soo i'd like to point out that the miya twins setter says the exact lines kageyama said in S1EP24 This position This timing This angle it legitimately gave me goosebumps when i watched the second weirdo quick.
the guy that sneezed was matsukawa, the third year middle blocker from aoba josai in season 2 who countered hinata's broad jump by blocking his cross shot.
I didn't even notice the animation quality in this episode until you pointed it out, maybe because I like it a lot 😅 I think it's one of he episodes where Haikyuu shows the different reactions of players under pressure the best: some get more excited when they face difficulty, some seem to not care at all, some get nervous/anxious - but in the end everyone is able to play in their own way
Coach, Inuoka is the one who originally was able to block Hinatas blind freak quick from Nekomas team in s1, also keep an eye out for when they talk about future events, itll give you a bit of a "hint hint wink wink" whenever you do decide to read the manga. Also if you look at the subtitles, Ennoshita perfectly explains why he didnt give a reaction, its because he doesnt want to admit to Kageyama that the set went well.
Those kids that were calling Tanaka energetic was more like they were making fun of him. They meant it like "oh everyone on karasuno is so good but what does Tanaka have... I guess he's energetic". They are basically saying he sucks and only has his energy. That's why Tanaka's "girlfriend" is getting angry lol
This episode has the most outsourced shots in the series I think congrats on making through it and enjoying it so much. I love Yamaguchi's serve and his relationship with his mentor it's so wholesome I love how this anime highlights all the work and the help adults give.
Man I really appreciate your video editor, James, as he puts in clips and some side comments which I think is awesome and just elevates your videos further (no pun intended hahaha) Awesome reaction especially with the scene with Yamaguchi. It was one of my favorite as well and even with the animation this season taking a hit I still like how rich the storyline. Before watching Haikyuu I wasn't really a volleyball fan because yeah I can see the power and speed but always thought it was all about just spiking the ball hard enough but seeing all the thoughts, techniques and plays just shows how deep the gameplay of volleyball is and hearing you give commentary on both volleyball and animation is just awesome. So thank you Coach for choosing to take that first step in reacting to Haikyuu!
The tip from Asahi was a miss-hit. He was trying to delay his spike by jumping early to bait the blockers to time their jump with him but apparently the jump was a little too early. By doing this, his goal was to spike the ball when the blockers are already going down so it will go over their reach.
So far s4 part 2 is my favourite season because its has so many goosebumps and heartfelt moments. Its really show how all of them matured in this tournament especially Hinata.
I think what Inarizaki's coach means by Read blocking shines the latter half of the game is that All the players might be used to every attack a team can offer on the first half. So they had the opportunity to read those attacks they got used to in the second half.
The discrepancy between the manga and anime sometimes depends on the director of a certain episodes. Since there's different animation directors that handles the animation and animators, they interpret the movements/animation differently.
The guy who Hinata was thinking of when becoming a scary blocker was Matsukawa from Aoba Johsai. Matsukawa commit blocked/funnel blocked Hinata as a means of countering the Quick Attack.
32:26 I love Tsukki's genuine open laugh here. I've rewatched this series many times and I think this is the only time Tsukki laughed so openly. He might've been the only one who realized Asahi's true intent for that hit which fortunately turned into an effective feint--it was indeed a very amusing result. I chuckled too but Tsukki's reaction made me laugh along with him.
I think Coach’s new favorite scene will be “THAT moment” that’s coming up in this season. The people who have watched Haikyuu all the way through know what I’m talking about. I can’t WAIT for Coach to react to it😮💨🙌🏽🔥
We are nearly past the worst of the animation issues thankfully. This match is my favorite in both manga and anime, I’m excited to see you react to certain parts!
Idk if anyone pointed it out but "This position, this angle, this timing. Its perfect!" Is the exact same thing Kageyama said in his head the first time he successfully did the freak quick set in season 1
Something to note is that all the spectators have different input based on their positions. Coach Ukai, Akaashi, Sugawara etc will have comments about the technique behind a set, while Bokuto, Kanoka (the girl who likes Tanaka) and Hoshiumi will see things from the spikers perspective.
Hey Coach Donny! I know there are a lot of characters to keep track, but just wanted to say that the ones who are "analyzing" the game (around 29:30) are from the Japan committee. The one in darker suit is Fuki Hibarida, Japan's Head Coach!
This episode I believe is outsourced meaning they had another animation studio work on the animation so that production I.G. (The main and original animation studio) can focus on the higher budget or big time moments that require their animating focus. Outsourcing is pretty common for anime. However, the story telling in the episode alone allows it to hold up with some of the best haikyuu episodes.
11:46 its also good to note that Tsuki saw that the player who received the ball was still getting up so he was pretty certain that the ball would go to his left
About Asahi saying "sorry" in 32:00 it's because he is trying a new form in his spikes. He is trying this since the training match vs Aone's team. His intent was smashing the ball, but he miss the time just tipping.
32:40 asahi actually wanted to hit hard, he was tryng what he did on the training match with dateko, the waiting in mid air. he just miscalculates the timing and luckily ends up in a tip
i feel like daichi doesnt really have "big" moments, because like s2 addressed, hes like the foundation nobody notices? and i forgot the exact saying, but "the best receives are the ones nobody notices", or something like that right? he doesn't do flashy plays but hes always there for the team, you only realize how important he is when hes missing (like when he got injured). but yes id definitely like to see him have a big moment just for our entertainment LOL
5:42 hearing these nuances to how advanced setters are hard to read and player patterns/trends becomes more the play reminds me a lot of poker and figuring out tells that someone might be bluffing

Ushijima doesn't delay his spikes. Why does he have to? He can and usually will just smash it.
@@vailingbow1068 there's a whole scene in season 3 that goes over his mid air form confuses the opponents, making them think he's going to spike sooner than he does.
@@thejadedjester4935 Yeah, but that's not him delaying the spike. That's just delaying the timing of the spike, lol.
32:25 I'm not sure why he laughed, but I just adore Tsukki's devious little giggle after Asahi does a feinto 😂
Everyone was cheering because they thought Asahi was faking and deliberately tipped. Meanwhile Tsuki, galaxy brain that he is, immediately recognized that it was a mistake and just started laughing
All The Artsy he’s such a troll and I love him for it lol
I love it too. Pretty sure he's laughing because the feint is kinda a dick move. Even though Asahi didn't mean it lol
@@AllTheArtsy Really doubt Tsuki knew that it was a mistake, he just loves feints cause they fuck with the opponent.
@@andtheneverythingchangedwh5234 idk i think it can be both
When he's saying he can't be as accurate as Kageyama he's more referring to this specific set.
Every setter we've ever seen seems to note that they can't do the same thing Kageyama does in that scarily accurate way.
i was wondering if coach recognized that the twins were pulling off the freak quick, is why everyone was so shocked.
@@ElevateYourselfOfficial
This episode looked bad because it was outsourced to a different studio due to covid. There is only 1 more episode that looks off (but it still looks better then this episode) the rest of the season is good.
@@az639 Like 24:22 lol. Leopard seal Daichi
You're actually being more narrow minded because you're taking a sample that represents other characters and applying it to different characters without any supporting evidence. . .
There is literally absolutely no other way to interpret "I know the balls comin'."
That does not translate to sibling rivalry and sibling competitiveness at all. .
Fun fact: atsumu is so amazed and loves how hinata plays that he calls him by his first name without being familiar with him.
(I've teached at several high schools in the Kanto region the past 10 years)
Also keep in mind that this is an anime, and the way characters address each other adds to the story telling, but isn't indicative of how scenarios like this might play out in actual social settings.
@@zak725 omg I know you didn't mean it but you cracked me up by mispelling Oikawa's name LOL
The mental image of a Japanese prefecture saying Tobio was top tier random comedy
Hey coach, I noticed that you couldn’t remember who inuoka is. He’s the really energetic blocker from Nekoma with short, spikey, brown hair that was Hinata’s original “rival” before Lev showed up and took his place in the starting lineup.
Now that you mention it, I'm kinda sad that he basically get overshadowed by Lev. I hope when karasuno and nekoma finally fights, he shines again.
i really love how the editor is a huge haikyuu fan too all this memes and extra edits they've been doing is cracking me up hahahah
YES. glad you like it!
32:26 Coach you missed out that epic Tsukki laugh. Hope you can watch in next week repeatedly at least 5 times. HAHAHA
Also hope you say it right when they do a synchronized attack. "Synchro Kougeki" I always have fun saying it when they about to execute it.
Their laugh was similar here lol
25:07 one of my favorite covers in the manga is from this chapter where Osamu is dressed like a prim and proper businessman facing off against a Hinata who is dressed up in an elementary school uniform; indicating the difference in their skill levels at present!!
On Daichi's 'Super Saiyan' moment:
I think he already had it, and it's not as bombastic as anyone else's, and it rules.
It’s so wonderfully written, I wouldn’t be able to express my thoughts as coherently as you have
Woah!
But i think Daichi still has a super saiyan moments during his interaction with Kita in the court which will be introduced on the following episodes 😁
Your comment was BEAUTIFUL!✨ it made me really emotional too. And just like you said Daichi fucking rocks!!
Hinata himself was so amazed and happy, but Kageyame said it was pure luck with a funny face expression
that was funny Lol 🤣🤣
32:19 Asahi tipped accidentally. He tried to waint until the block was going down to hit, but ended up not properly reaching the ball and accidentally tipping it. That's why he apologized
Yes he trying like when he against date tech on practice match
So excited for you to watch the next episode Coach! One of our players has a breakthrough moment which I think you’ll love :D
I agree with this! I'm really looking forward with the next reaction video! 🥺🥺🥺
Agreed, I've been waiting a very long time for episode 16!
Man every time I re-watch this episode, I get teary eyed at Shimada's "TADASHIII" 😭😭😭
James you're killing me with the edits, you had me laughing out loud multiple times with the photos hahah beautiful *chefs kiss*
🙌
Coach you forgot. Before the shiratorizawa game, Tsuki's brother got him sports goggles to use when he plays
I loved when Kageyama told Tsuki "Come up here" on the high set
32:20 Asahi actually didn't manage to do what he was trying to do, and this feint was sort of a fluke. Task failed successfully, I guess
Tadashi is Yamaguchi's first name. 😁
The fact that Shimada calls him by his first name shows how close they have become 🥰 as none of the other adults or coaching staff (as I can recall) ever call any of the Karasuno athletes by their first name
@@AllTheArtsy nah, comparing to other episodes this one was reeeally off
Whatever what people say about it, this episode and by extent the entire season is actually the peak of Haikyuu in my opinion, so yeah, not everyone like the new artstyle (I think it's way better personally, the old looked like yaoi) and the animation is obviously really bad sometime, especially compared to what the season 3 or even the OVA before S4 showed us.
Editor-san appreciation comment. I love all your little touches, especially the faded Asahi hype moment over coach yelling. 🙏 You are a blessing.
🙌🙌 i appreciate you!
man, watching Coach's reactions for Haikyuu makes me remembered myself when I watched it for the first time.
Seeing James leave post-edit notes in the videos is actually the best

I think we all need those no matter how old we are
The best thing about Karasuno-Inarizaki game is that at this point it has just begun.
soo i'd like to point out that the miya twins setter says the exact lines kageyama said in S1EP24
This position
This timing
This angle
it legitimately gave me goosebumps when i watched the second weirdo quick.
Pretty sure we are hearing kageyama think and realize what they are about to do
the guy that sneezed was matsukawa, the third year middle blocker from aoba josai in season 2 who countered hinata's broad jump by blocking his cross shot.
Seeing the channel get a sponsor makes me feel good to be a viewer. Keep up the good work coach!
Knowing he's a huge Tanaka fan makes me so excited for next episode
This episode has the most outsourced shots in the series I think congrats on making through it and enjoying it so much. I love Yamaguchi's serve and his relationship with his mentor it's so wholesome I love how this anime highlights all the work and the help adults give.
If coach doesn’t cry next episode. I will go CRAZY.
Man I really appreciate your video editor, James, as he puts in clips and some side comments which I think is awesome and just elevates your videos further (no pun intended hahaha)
Awesome reaction especially with the scene with Yamaguchi.
Its really show how all of them matured in this tournament especially Hinata.
i am so hyped for next week. next weeks episode is top 3 in the series imo
frfr
The 2 men talking about hinata and kageyama at 7:05 are staff from Japans national team, they where shown at the training camp kageyama went to.
I think they are the coach from Japan national team.
7:00 this dialogue between these two guys is so amazing imo. Some good insight that Hinata has potential outside of Kageyama.
The guy in episode 14 with a crazy hairstyle is Kiriyu. He is among the top 3 aces in Japan along with Sakusa (the germophobe) and Ushiwaka.
Congrats on your first sponsor! You deserve it!
Idk if anyone pointed it out but "This position, this angle, this timing. Its perfect!" Is the exact same thing Kageyama said in his head the first time he successfully did the freak quick set in season 1
up next, one of the greatest moments in haikyuu and a defining moment for coach;s favorite player. gonna probably love him more.
Dude that last part always chokes me up!!
Something to note is that all the spectators have different input based on their positions. Coach Ukai, Akaashi, Sugawara etc will have comments about the technique behind a set, while Bokuto, Kanoka (the girl who likes Tanaka) and Hoshiumi will see things from the spikers perspective.
41:09 your editor is NEXT LEVEL oh my goodness 😆
🙌💀
James' editing cracked me up throughout this episode. 🤣🤣
I can't wait to see coach react to the next episode! It contains one of the best and most impactful moments of the anime imo
Yeah it looks like a couple scenes in the middle weren't outsourced especially when Hinata is thinking about other blockers
When you said Tsukkis glasses look more like goggles, he's actually wearing the goggles his brother gifted him
fun fact the drums absolutely SLAP in this opening.
your mic quality felt so much better this video!:) i love it
11:46 its also good to note that Tsuki saw that the player who received the ball was still getting up so he was pretty certain that the ball would go to his left
Yo so cool to see you here! The next episode is probably my favorite episode of the entire show so far! That or the Tsukki block :)
Broo I'm loving the editor. 🤣🤣
Just can't wait for the next episode, I thing it will become your favourite
About Asahi saying "sorry" in 32:00 it's because he is trying a new form in his spikes.
He is trying this since the training match vs Aone's team.
His intent was smashing the ball, but he miss the time just tipping.
Man next weeks episode is one of my favorites in the whole anime, cant wait for your reaction!
32:40 asahi actually wanted to hit hard, he was tryng what he did on the training match with dateko, the waiting in mid air. he just miscalculates the timing and luckily ends up in a tip
You're gonna love Tanaka even more in the next few episodes.
It's a testament to how into the episode coach was because he didn't catch the infamous twisted neck Daichi!
i feel like daichi doesnt really have "big" moments, because like s2 addressed, hes like the foundation nobody notices? and i forgot the exact saying, but "the best receives are the ones nobody notices", or something like that right? he doesn't do flashy plays but hes always there for the team, you only realize how important he is when hes missing (like when he got injured).
but yes id definitely like to see him have a big moment just for our entertainment LOL
5:42 hearing these nuances to how advanced setters are hard to read and player patterns/trends becomes more the play reminds me a lot of poker and figuring out tells that someone might be bluffing
Hi coach, that man at 7:28 is the Japanese Olympic Coach ;)
W coach, W editor, W series.
