What a lovely video. I too was involved in the restoration of 80064. Used to come up from Plymouth one day a week whilst in final year at school, so would have been circa 1978. An elderly gent called Roy Gregory used to bring two or three of us up every week. I painted the inside of the left hand water tank. In those days I was so skinny that I could fit in the hole for the filler hatch. There used to be a dent nearly the length of the tank. In its working life it had collided with something which left a huge gouge down the side. It took MONTHS of filler, sanding, filler, sanding to get it right. Nice to see it again.

Great film. To date it is the only one i have seen of 80064. Helped with the restoration of this loco 1978/79. Was taken to Buckfastliegh by Roy Gregory on day release from school in Plymouth. I painted the inside of the water tanks on both sides on 80064. Seem to remember Roy trying to sort out a long dent on one of the tanks. The amount of filler and rubbing down we did was very time consuming. Note the signalbox being built at Buckfastliegh. Bet Nick Perring was involved with that.

Hi there. Just found this film and what memories it brought back. I grew up in Buckfastleigh and my dad worked on 80064 until his death in 1977. He never got to see it run but my mum took us down to the station to see one of its first runs up and down the platform. It must of been the day shown in your film because I remember all of the locos out running together. I was about 10 at the time. I've seen 80064 rotting in a shed on the bluebell. She is still there as dar as I know with currently no plans for restoration. Very sad. Thanks for sharing this film.

Nice to see, I remember the SDR around this time. 80064 was moved to Buckfastleigh in 1973 and she returned to steam in 1981. In 1984, she was moved to the Bluebell Railway. (courtesy of the SDR web site). Keith

Absolutely agree, apparently it is presently languishing unserviceable on tBluebell Railway.
