Long live south Devon railway and all steam railways
Such a shame that they can't run all the way to Ashburton. It's the best railway I have ever been to and an few extra miles would make it feel complete.
five auto coaches is a BIT much. wasn't aware there were that many preserved
I watch the footage and all through the 30 minutes kept worrying that I may require a hearing aid... ;)
4555 is still going it is on the pdsr I believe
What happened to this part of the line? I knew that it terminates at Buckfastleigh but how come the track was lifted to/from Ashburton, was it taken up during BR days before the SDR could obtain it?
Duck The new A38 carriageway was built before the SDR could purchase it. This road completely severed the Buckfastleigh - Ashburton portion.
Hello, The South Devon Railway would be very interested in using this footage as part of the 50th Year. Would you be able to contact us on trains@southdevonrailway.org? Thank you.
