As a boy I spent many hours in Sapperton Box. Checking my own photos I reckon the film was taken in June/July 1970 (Boxes closed on 5/10/70). One can see the partially completed Xover ground frame in the first shot and new relay boxes for the MAS at Brimscombe. Sapperton Box was rarely photographed so this material is so precious. Brimscombe looks so sad and bare of any activity in what was a large complex. The box was only retained for a farmers Xing. I cannot thank you enough for posting this.

I was brought up in Stroud and as kids we spent hours riding around on our bikes in the late 50s early 60s and remember the simple pleasures we enjoyed. One was watching the Brimscombe Banker chasing the coal trains to help them get up Sapperton Bank. Kids today have things we never even dreamt of and yet I cant help feeling that the kids today have lost something precious.
