I wish UA-cam and phones with videocameras were around when I was a teenager so I could have recorded my swing anytime I wanted to see what I was doing wrong because seeing it and having someone tell you are 2 different things. It would’ve been nice to watch a video with some tips and then try them right then when it’s fresh in your mind. I’m my day you had to watch a vhs tape and then go to a park or something and try to remember what they said on the tape you watched and try to work on it.

What people don’t realize is that the ball is coming in at a downward angle. Swinging with an uppercut actually keeps the bat on the path of the ball much longer. This is the perfect bat path to hit for average and power.

Spot on. What is comical is a lot of coaches set up something similar with the "wall" on the back side of the tee. Theres even a tee terribly designed opposite of this set up. Too many dont understand a level swing is not parallel to the ground.

@@antsjohnson6617 whether or not a person has played as a pro themselves has little to no bearing on that person's capacity to coach at a pro level. This is true no matter what the sport is, and is born out by taking even a cursory glance at the personal histories of many of the truly legendary coaches throughout sporting history. Injuries, personal circumstances (finances, family etc), racial or religious exclusion and amateur code affiliations are just some of the reasons that may prevent a person from being as successful a player as they are a coach. Also, with sports science being as advanced as it is today, with sports theory being as advanced as it is, and with level 3 accreditations being as difficult to obtain as they are, many people decide to hit uni or go into coaching apprenticeships, straight from junior or amateur careers. As an extreme example, my coach didn't even begin _playing_ until he was 40 years old - but still became one of the most successful and respected coaches in the state!
All that said tho, I ain't from the US, and I've never hit a baseball in my life, so with this content here... Well, I wouldn't have a _clue._

The method being taught here is giving you less chance of hitting the ball, and more chance of just hitting pop flys if you do. The fact of the matter is not everyone have power like Aaron Judge, you don’t teach batters to swing like this because you take away bat surface in the zone and less ability to adapt to moving pitches. Hitting is the concept of bunting. You don’t bunt with your bat vertical.

You can slob this guys knob all day long, but the fact of the matter is, this method will produce far less success. People always get this confused with dropping the barrel, you’re not, it’s the correct bat path to optimize chances of getting a hit and keep the barrel in the zone the longest. If you keep this bat path even when caught off guard on breaking balls you still have a good chance of piecing a ball up and not rolling over. for anyone saying this is wrong, you’ve probably never been coached by someone who actually understood hitting at a high level. It’s actually surprising how many people are saying this is wrong, or have never learned this before. Go watch a slow mo swing of trout or Griffey, they do the exact same things. The only time you don’t is when a ball is thrown in the top half of the strike zone because you have to get on top of the ball. However, even then you still see them do this, it’s just not as pronounced because they have to adjust to something up in the zone.

I've been swinging his way my entire life on accident. Barry Bonds is my favorite player so I've studied his swing over and over again as a kid, I'm left handed as well so I literally did everything he did batting ritual and all.😂 I didn't know the science of it I just knew it worked and I could get those pitches even if the pitcher beat me. early on, my coaches always tried telling me to hit down at the ball and it just felt wrong I refused to do it. Long story short my Jr and senior year I lead my conference in dingers 🤣 and set a school record for most dingers in a season (22) go figure.

That's basically the Ken Griffey Jr swing. But with Judge size he should be swinging like Alex Rodriguez. Cause with Judges size a line drive swing will end up over the fence. But line drive is what he needs not a long fly pop up.

I hope pitchers are watching so the next time they gave Ian or Aaron they just need to aim for the ball the end up where that wall would be. Their swing will never touch it.

Man, I really wanna see this old dude(no disrespect at all) hit some dingers with pure mechanics, no huge muscles, strength, steroids, etc. needed.
Now I have no idea if he could or not, but I would love to see it.
Also, could you imagine having access to guys like this and great training facilities, pitching machines, your own batting cage(sort of like that one young kid on UA-cam with the curly hair) from a young age? Like if you dedicated your life to getting as good as possible at baseball starting at like two years old, sort of like Tiger's father did with him, or those Asian parents who make their kids practice piano or the violin 10 hours a day? And then add on natural talent, genes, strength and conditioning, mental toughness/the right mindset, etc.? I wonder how good someone could get.

Awesome drills you have but the starter pack for $230 is a little much for pvc and noodles. I understand there is more but even at half the cost there is profit I’m sure.

Not saying either is right/wrong or better/worse but I took private hitting lessons my junior year where rotational hitting and toe dragging were emphasized. I was taught the exact opposite of this. My bat was supposed to be as horizontal as possible for as long as possible. My batting average significantly increased. Is this a drill for more emphasis on power? Let's discuss
