One of hitting drills I used as a kid and showed my grandson is a broom or mop handle and Pinto beans .. Whether soft touse or by your self it really gets your attition to make contact . Then just use the lead hand .. It helped with a walkoff at state championships few years ago in Texas . Enjoy your videos .
We used broom handles and bottle caps. Pinto beans would be really hard to hit too. I've used the SKLZ bat and miniature whiffle balls with my kids, and I've seen it pay off almost immediately.
4:20 ....this drill can also cure a slice in golf. It encourages "lag" in a golf swing. It also helps the player keep the clubhead behind the hands in the downswing.
Great video. Big fan me and my son.we just met you at the usssa all American tryouts Viera Florida you signed a ball for him. He end making the direct select 9u pitched 56 mph on the radar gun😁 and scored 7/8 on infield. Great videos thanks coach 💪🏼⚾️
YouGoProBaseball they have really help my swing this last season I usually swing early and these have helps me with that considering how slow my dad throws them lol and they have helped me with hitting low pitches as well.
Bunting is OK BUT U HOLD YOUR PLAYERS BACK. let them swing the bat. No 1 ever got a D 1 SCHOLARSHIP for bunting. I've never ever heard a College coach say I got this great bunter coming in.
@@troygaston542 the question was will you do a bunt drill and bunting is apart of baseball , softball kids these days needs to learn it , I was just asking but since bunting is not important to you do you.
I have a 6 year old wanting to play tee ball. He can already hit a thrown ball. I have no idea what I am doing. Should he start on a tee? Or should I throw them soft? Real baseballs? Soft tee balls? Or whiffle balls? I want to set him up to do well when we get him signed up for a league. Thanks in advance!
I like and have used the " Happy Gilmore swing" at my little league practices! Saw the hitting drill on UA-cam a while back and the kids love it! It helps them learn to stride when they swing!
Hey coach I have a lot of kids as they are swinging , putting there weight out front . Not staying back and loading up .. this video definitely helped but what do you have for helping keep the kids weight back so they aren’t leaning forward and losing power .
Hey Coach Madden, Where did you get that Diamond Baseball Hat from? I love it and have been trying to find one somewhere but havent been able to! I'm a big fan and I love your videos!
Not sure what he means. Shoulders level at contact. If your waist is tilted forward at the beginning of swing, our shoulders will not be level at contact. Baseball has a lot of batting phrases that are vague and do not make sense.
I would actually recommend the opposite of wiffle ball training. For kids that can't hit the ball yet, it is better for them to use big plastic bats and big balls to train their eyes to seeing the ball come across the plate and making contact. Only after they are very good at that should they slowly learn to hit smaller and smaller targets. Otherwise it's a waste and the learning curve is too steep.
I love your vids anytime i am in a struggle you always got a video to help and you love commenting back to help others. If you see this why did you retire from MLB?
This was awesome! In the heavy ball drill, exactly what ball should I use? Is there an example of a specific one I should purchase. My son is 11 playing 12U, and this drill is going to do wonders.
Can anyone give me some advice on when my 4 year old son throws the ball he uses his left hand to throw, but when he is batting he uses a right hand batting position. Should I let it be or should I changed one of the stands to be both left or both right?
When your son is throwing the ball with his left hand, does he have a glove on his right hand? If he has a glove on, my guess is that his throwing left is his natural tendency and let him throw left. If he ultimately likes pitching, this will be a big benefit. My son throws right and hits left. He can hit right too but his natural tendency is left. I used to joke that if I had a son, I would tape his right hand to his body so when he showed hitting from right and left, I was happy but I didn't want to make him focus on one if that really wasn't the best thing. I talked to one of my friends that is a Coach (and has been for a long time) and another friend that played in the Braves system. Both of them told me, make him hit lefty.
What's a good drill to help 9-11 yr olds see the ball - in our area they are coming up from coach pitch and live pitching it destroying the bulk of the league
Nope. Not even close to the things youth players struggle with. Most issues I've seen deal with grip and weight transfer. No need for the gimmicky drills or devices if you're stressing fundamental points in tee work and soft toss.
I want to send you a big thank you I think we will have some good results with these drills

The enchanted Gamer Great! That’s awesome. They do work great. How have they helped your swing? I’d love to hear. Thanks
YouGoProBaseball they have really help my swing this last season I usually swing early and these have helps me with that considering how slow my dad throws them lol and they have helped me with hitting low pitches as well.
Love the break down of these drills , will you do a bunting drill .
I second that request. Bunting is such a powerful tool, but many of the pro hitters don't even do it correctly. It seems pretty underutilized.
What’s bunting that don’t exist 😂

John, tell us about your workout regimen. You look like a new man compared to earlier videos you've published.
Hi
I know this is a old video but where did you find that Diamond hat?
Its ok
what a sales pitch, no pun intended
2 years ago , I know. but what is your routine and eating routine. From video to video your a beast 👏
My kids don't use a weighted ball. We do it with a partially deflated basketball
Good stuff kid. Keep the weight off, your kid and family will appreciate it. Refreshing not to see the ridiculous BS that others put out.
Great drills. Now I just need about $700 to get all of that equipment.
LOL classic👏😀😀😀😀
Hey Coach Madden,
Where did you get that Diamond Baseball Hat from? I love it and have been trying to find one somewhere but havent been able to! I'm a big fan and I love your videos!
In hell jk
I wish coaches would do hitting drills off a lower tee. Good pitchers are not going to pitch them waist high.
Can the powernet limited flight mini crushers be used in the mini waffle ball machine?
No
That’s not the John madden I know
گابریل بالتا مارتینز

iOS gaming 00 So fast! 🔥
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
sweaty cute guy
C'mon John really... click bait infomercial for baseball gimmicks
Great drills, aside from the heavy balls. The heavy balls create a lot of bad habits in young kids.
You looked 10 years younger lol. Good job man.

Nia Turner The red ones I was using is from Rukket but there are many companies that make them.
Hi!! I am 6 years old. I want the heavy ball but I am not sure the weight I need?? My bat is 12oz heavy.
Thanks man! As a youth coach that's really just learning the game I really appreciate your videos...very helpful.
Is this video shot in Parkland?
Salento patio
Looking good champ
So fast

Fantastic stuff. Just started youth coaching for my two daughter's teams and your videos have been a tremendous help.

if you play golf you should always be doing this drill as a warmup
Alot of good tips mydude. Thanks for making this. My daughter's good but will learn alot from these drills
How can I get some stuff for my team?
