    I have been practicing the rear leg coil and load technique from my batting tee. I do notice that my swing has become quicker and my bat is getting into the hitting zone much more efficiently. I still haven't adjusted to the "Point the barrel at the catcher" to initiate the swing, but overall this hitting technique can improve any player's performance if you practice, practice, practice...👍✌️💪⚾

    I'm a lefty and imitated numerous lefties growing up, one of those being Darryl Strawberry. I wish i could go back in time because coaches used to stress, "SWING LEVELED". Meanwhile they saw an "UPPERCUT"

    I 1000 percent get it now. When I used to imitate Mattingly as a child, my swing would naturally follow this path. Amazing! Now I can identify it in MLB players easily. Piazza, Dave Ortiz, and McGuire as well. I practice this swing daily and I'm gray haired lol, but now it all makes sense. Good stuff.

    • @redbrrdz7423

      @ the most important part of the swing is barreling the baseball. Which is the final part of the swing. HLP is the beginning of the swing, , helps get us in the right position. Taking the hands to and through, will always be priority. Besides the load of course.

    Thanks teacherman, I use your technique in golf and it works wonders. Just last night I watched a video where the instructor said the golf swing is a stationary backwards shuffle. He then demonstrated how even the swing looks by stepping backwards with his right during the backswing and left during the downswing. It’s 10 degrees here so I haven’t tried it out yet but in golf we have this phrase feel vs real, you talk about it in your hit down videos. Maybe this backwards shuffle is the concept you are describing here too. It’s not coiling on your hip as much as your loading tension in your back legs. Maybe it’s different in baseball but I’m interested to hear what you think The video is Malaska Golf Walk Back drill

    rear hip socket and rear scapula twitch together(actually hip socket rotation is bringing scapula supination). It occurs in both hitting and throwing. After scapula twitch, barrel gets lauched during hitting.During pitching, scapula twitch brings elbow rotation, ending with ball release. Many people analyze videos, but players in real game don't have enough time for analyzing. All they can do is twitching their rear hip and scapula together- only differnece is just about accelerating barrel/or/ball. Teacherman is the only guy who simplified the movement. Always thanks for good videos.

    • @CoachGruber
      @CoachGruber 2 дні тому

      That's just it, he's simplified things, but with some of the things he's put out to counter some critics, aaaaaaand the stuff some of the "instructors" put out there, the message has been soured. It started off as just a swing technique where he was still "knob to the ball" without saying it, but now there is such a badly mismanaged message it's become comical.

    Please give some feedback on Ted Williams, Hank Aaron, Barry Bonds, Babe Ruth, and Ritchie Allen. Their swings feature a bat tilt and pulling the rear elbow back. Their bats go through the zone like a whip. Your thoughts?

  • @Ray-fr8iy

      Look at altuve and judges swing

    • @povertygarage705
      @povertygarage705 2 дні тому

      How much tilt and how much the rear shoulder rolls under is greatly determined by pitch height. Most strikes are gonna be around thigh-high, so in most cases, the rear shoulder is gonna roll under to get the barrel through the zone downward diagonally. Your shoulders are only ever going to swing level if it's a very high pitch.

    • @TeachermanHitting
      @TeachermanHitting 11 годин тому

      Is the idea that "you shouldn't drop the back shoulder" based on what the best hitters actually do? Or is it just something you were told growing up + are now repeating?

    • @povertygarage705
      @povertygarage705 10 годин тому

      @TeachermanHitting I personally believe that there's much confusion over this topic. The rear shoulder should drop as it rolls under with the swing, but that's assuming that it started from a high position and good posture while the scap was loaded during the stretch/load. The bad version of dropping the rear shoulder is when a player drops the shoulder prior to the swing and lowers their hands in anticipation of the swing. Players that do that push the barrel up at the ball and/or tend to drag their elbow and dump the barrel. Big difference between the two versions of "dropping the shoulder." One hits dingers, and the other is lucky to get a hit at all.

    Aaron Judge and Ryan Howard are shown. One 6’4 250 the other 6’7 280. They both can hit em a long way with relative frequency. However they both strikeout once every 3.5 plate appearances. Most high school players are undersized and dont hit for power. If a kid struck out every 3.5 atbats without power he wont be in the lineup long. There are many different ways to skin a cat. none are wrong. kids should be open to try anything to see what works best.
