Great stuff. Just a question about charging - can i charge both batteries if I connect through the drone usb-c terminal? Also, will fast charge work with the lipo battery?
Great improvement! Which models of battery packs do you use? as every time I google for li ion batteries I only get round ones and not flat you use for the mod
Well done.. thorough and to the point...like it the thing in the box is a Mavic Air2.. so you can spoil us with a Mavic air 2 with interesting projects. :P though do have one of these 4USD thin plastic bendable ribbons for Mavic Air2... you simply lay it on the pads., and then plug the battery in like normal and it will make a connection and give you an XT60 socket on top for normal batteries. the more or less the same approach, but so thin that it can lay in between the crease when the battery is connected.

Please confirm so you have one wire weld it to the positive of the original battery and two wires welded on the negatives at the original battery is that correct
I wonder if 3500mAh is the optimum battery size or do you think 3000mAh would actually be a little better due to the weight difference. Also, how much weight reduction do you think could actually be done to the drone without actually impacting performance?
The drone itself is already as light as possible, with ultra light plastic and everything. It is so light that you won’t be able to reduce much weight from it. And even if you take all the covers off, you won’t be able to reduce enough weight to make it worth it. Engineers at dji are not stupid, and if they could, they would make it even lighter.
Good afternoon dear Zolly! I have a very important question, please write an answer. You can repackage the regular battery from DJi mini 2 and solder it to a 3500 mah battery without locking the battery. I watched a video on UA-cam from other users it didn't work out. Will you be able to post such a video? I will be much grateful to you sincerely Leonid Anatolyevich
You have to check the channel "The Longranger". He has the solution that works. Unfortunately to replace the cells you need to reprogram the chip on the board.

Hi Zolly! Great video! It is possible to Change the cells instead of adding more cells? I mean, to do it as you showed with the mavic mini 1. I was thinking of upgrading the cells but not sure if possible. Thank you again for your videos!.
If you extend the batteries they are connected in parallel right as they arent in series so this shouldnt change the voltage just the amp hours? So basically its a game of figuring out the best power to weight ratio

Do you have any suggestions for decreasing the capacity of the battery? There are quite a few people that are looking for a sub-200g configuration and getting a Japanese battery in the US is all but impossible.
Hi Zolly and all, can you or someone clarify please: it was said that to fly such time you need to charge batteries to 4.4x2 = 8.8v, which requires a "trick", since Imax B6 can't do it and on the same time, Zolly showed that batteries were discharged to 6v prior the "levitation". Can somebody say at what level the additional 3500mah battery should be charged to achieve same results in flying time Zolly has achieved in this video?
Just noticed you had mentioned you are working with the supplier. Let us know if you have any updates. Ali Express can be a hit or miss as there are so many shady suppliers.
You do know that DJI just updated their battery’s as of January of 2023 right & you can also go into settings & fix the discharge problem now also , all you have to do is put each battery in the drone & download the update from your phone to the battery in the drone , one by one , now you won’t have this problem & you,ll get the best flight time for your buck .
I was thinking to do something similar to my Mavic 2 Pro, but how does it looks like in flight logs ? can you actually tell the battery mod is installed ?

Hi, I wonder if you can try to mod the solar system to the drone, mostly we play under the sunlight, solar system can reduce the external battery weight and increase the flying time. Can you mod one with the solar system?

Hello Zolly. Thank you for your interesting tests. I also have experience. I noticed that you drained your batteries to 6V for the test. The capacity is then 3.5Ah. In practice, the drone will turn off at 7V. The available capacity will therefore be less. Maybe that's why the original 2250mAh batteries are around 2000mAh. One more thing. Tell me what voltage did the external batteries discharge during levitation?
Yes, that is correct! :) When I disable the battery voltage monitoring system, the drone can do an additional 3-5 minutes, but after that it starts a rapid descent due to lack of power and if it is coming from high enough, not even the ground effect can save it from crashing. So that is why it is not included in this video. I think that is why DJI implemented the 7V limit as well, as the LiPo discharge curve breaks down at around that voltage sharp. Like this there is a bit margin for safe landing. The voltage on the the external cells was 7.15 V. (That is due to to the drop on the cables)
witha second battery the same capacity as the one inside i would of expected almost twice the flight time. you have gone from 2250 and added a 2375 is should be double the time minus a bit of time loss due to extra weight,,,, the plus 4480 battery being very heavy is going to be not so good, but should be atleast twice the normal time... what it needs for a good test is just the 4480 battery on its own, then i think you will see around 45 mins plus..
