    Great vid. I like the way you use common sense and advise only people that are familiar with this stuff do this. Also, more common sense, if not comfortable doing this mod, just buy more batts as DJI makes a good product. Just very well said. Subscribed/Liked already.. Will watch the rest of the vid now.. Pls Carry on.

    Well done.. thorough and to the point...like it
    the thing in the box is a Mavic Air2.. so you can spoil us with a Mavic air 2 with interesting projects. :P
    though do have one of these 4USD thin plastic bendable ribbons for Mavic Air2...
    you simply lay it on the pads., and then plug the battery in like normal and it will make a connection and give you an XT60 socket on top for normal batteries.
    the more or less the same approach, but so thin that it can lay in between the crease when the battery is connected.

    I wonder if 3500mAh is the optimum battery size or do you think 3000mAh would actually be a little better due to the weight difference. Also, how much weight reduction do you think could actually be done to the drone without actually impacting performance?

    • @vladkedrov8901
      @vladkedrov8901 2 роки тому +2

      The drone itself is already as light as possible, with ultra light plastic and everything. It is so light that you won’t be able to reduce much weight from it. And even if you take all the covers off, you won’t be able to reduce enough weight to make it worth it. Engineers at dji are not stupid, and if they could, they would make it even lighter.

You can repackage the regular battery from DJi mini 2 and solder it to a 3500 mah battery without locking the battery. I watched a video on UA-cam from other users it didn't work out. Will you be able to post such a video? I will be much grateful to you sincerely Leonid Anatolyevich

    • @voodoo2110

      Я думаю что блокировка срабатывает тупо при обрыве питания (при отрезании заводских ячеек). Если обеспечить временные дополнительные линии питания с других ячеек, то можно пересобрать батарейку на другие ячейки без блокировки BMS.. ну это так - рассуждения. Естественно, в прошивке батарейки останется старая ёмкость, но время полета всё-равно увеличится

    Hi, I wonder if you can try to mod the solar system to the drone, mostly we play under the sunlight, solar system can reduce the external battery weight and increase the flying time. Can you mod one with the solar system?

      Solar panels are unfortunately way to heavy compared to the energy they provide in this application....

    • @ZollyD
      @ZollyD  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, it can be charge with the hub. IF you can not charge the cells separately, you can try to match the voltage of the factory cells to your extra cells and charge them together after. The voltages have to match!!!

    Hello Zolly.
    Thank you for your interesting tests. I also have experience. I noticed that you drained your batteries to 6V for the test. The capacity is then 3.5Ah. In practice, the drone will turn off at 7V. The available capacity will therefore be less. Maybe that's why the original 2250mAh batteries are around 2000mAh. One more thing. Tell me what voltage did the external batteries discharge during levitation?

    • @ZollyD
      @ZollyD  3 роки тому

      Yes, that is correct! :) When I disable the battery voltage monitoring system, the drone can do an additional 3-5 minutes, but after that it starts a rapid descent due to lack of power and if it is coming from high enough, not even the ground effect can save it from crashing. So that is why it is not included in this video. I think that is why DJI implemented the 7V limit as well, as the LiPo discharge curve breaks down at around that voltage sharp. Like this there is a bit margin for safe landing.
      The voltage on the the external cells was 7.15 V. (That is due to to the drop on the cables)

  • @philldownes8685
    @philldownes8685 5 місяців тому

    witha second battery the same capacity as the one inside i would of expected almost twice the flight time. you have gone from 2250 and added a 2375 is should be double the time minus a bit of time loss due to extra weight,,,, the plus 4480 battery being very heavy is going to be not so good, but should be atleast twice the normal time... what it needs for a good test is just the 4480 battery on its own, then i think you will see around 45 mins plus..

  • @ranranpoopants
