I love that her presence was always comforting, even as strict and no-nonsense as she was. Maybe that came from reading the books, but she’s just all the best things. I’ll always be grateful to Dame Maggie Smith for bringing those qualities to the role.
I'm never getting over the fact that Barty Crouch Jr, a death eater, turned Draco Malfoy, son of known death eater and close confidant of LORD VOLDEMORT, into a ferret for attempting to attack Harry and actually had fun doing it AND continued to threaten Draco with embarrassing stories about his dad.... I feel like he might have taken his assignment a little too seriously😂 His acting job was truly outstanding honestly, I never would have doubted him for a second if I was a kid at Hogwarts
If I remember right, another factor is that Barty Crouch Jr also despises death eaters who didn't go looking for Voldemort after his defeat in Godric's Hollow, and tried to renounce him and go back to their lives as if they hadn't served him. He despises their weak loyalty to Voldemort. So his attack on Malfoy is genuine, and ALSO serves to conceal his identity more thoroughly
Mad respect to both Maggie Smith and Alan Rickman, who both fought cancer while filming Deathly Hallows, but still gave us the best they had. They perfectly embodied two characters among the most memorable of the film series. Rest in Peace Alan Rickman.

I freaking love her. She was at her best in books 5 and 7. She reminds me a bit of a public health teacher I had in college though that teacher wasn’t as strict. She was firm and a hard teacher and grader but not reasonable. She always stressed the importance of supporting your claims with data. It was her trademark. She also always gave you the materials and support you needed to do well on her assignments so her stricter grading was justified. Ironically, she was the only teacher I got a 100 on a paper with my sophomore year. One of my proudest college achievements.
*cutely and excitedly says* "ive always wanted to do that spell" For real tho, mcgonagall gave harry the most expensive broom (at the time) for him to play frickin first year quidditch he aint even of age Also, she frickin attacked snape like, that was HEADMASTER (when she deserved the title since shes carrying hogwarts on her back) and she ws like NOT TODAY thats why i dont like it when they say she's straight as a line cause we dont need to give her more weight when she's been carrying hogwarts on her back
I especially appreciate the moment when she comes to Trelawney's side. She didn't even like her, and yet came to her and offered support and comfort. I love her.
When you see snape deflecting McGonagall, it actually hit the 2 death eaters in the back foreshadowing that he's still a professor against the dark arts
I wish the filmmakers could have included more scenes between McGonagall and Dolores from the book even as deleted scenes but honestly the scene on the stairs was GOLD!

In the first book, Vernon notices her while she's spying on him as a cat and she gives him a "nasty look" 💀
If Dumbledore had taken Professor McGonagall's advice about the Triwizard Cup, Voldemort would have had a way harder time being reborn.
Then again, if Voldemort had just ordered Barty Crouch Jr to bring him a vial with a bit of Harry's blood instead of going through all this tournament stuff where it wasn't even sure Harry would win, he would have been reborn 9 months earlier, and Dumbledore would have been none the wiser.

But it literally is. Individual canons don't stand up against actual canon.
It's funny because in PoA, Hermione implies Professor McGonagall didn't have much respect for Divination/Professor Trelawny, but when Umbridge publically humiliates her she wastes no time in standing up for her. It's really sweet.

I love that her presence was always comforting, even as strict and no-nonsense as she was. Maybe that came from reading the books, but she’s just all the best things. I’ll always be grateful to Dame Maggie Smith for bringing those qualities to the role.
Dame Maggie Smith was a legend. She was also in a period drama alley Downton Abbey and was a queen in that too
I'm never getting over the fact that Barty Crouch Jr, a death eater, turned Draco Malfoy, son of known death eater and close confidant of LORD VOLDEMORT, into a ferret for attempting to attack Harry and actually had fun doing it AND continued to threaten Draco with embarrassing stories about his dad.... I feel like he might have taken his assignment a little too seriously😂
His acting job was truly outstanding honestly, I never would have doubted him for a second if I was a kid at Hogwarts
McGonagall: I've always wanted to use that spell :D
Molly: You do realize this is a life threatening situation, Minerva?
Omg this is perfect XD

I freaking love her. She was at her best in books 5 and 7. She reminds me a bit of a public health teacher I had in college though that teacher wasn’t as strict. She was firm and a hard teacher and grader but not reasonable. She always stressed the importance of supporting your claims with data. It was her trademark. She also always gave you the materials and support you needed to do well on her assignments so her stricter grading was justified. Ironically, she was the only teacher I got a 100 on a paper with my sophomore year. One of my proudest college achievements.
