In Harry's defense, everyone who ever told him anything about James was a James fanboy and only ever presented him in a glorifying light. Nobody ever said to Harry "oh by the way, when your dad was your age, he was a horrible bully and a smarmy arrogant little prick." They all kinda just...forgot about that part of his personality. No wonder Harry put him on a pedestal.
@@ischeele7203 I'm just saying that it's no wonder Harry had a specific view on his dad up to this point, if that's the only side of him he was ever told about. So of course when somebody he doesn't like to begin with brings up some negative stuff about his dad, Harry immediately thinks he's lying. Btw. I still think that Rowling missed the opportunity actually showing us anything of the good side of James Potter. Everyone just keeps talking about how awesome he was, but all we actually know is that he was dumb enough to leave his wand lying around the house when the most dangerous wizard in existance was looking for him all over the place. So I gotta admit, James left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth after the last book, because we never actually see his redemption. The last few things we learn about him personality-wise is how much of a dick he was to Severus as a kid and that he was partially to blame for ending his and Lily's friendship. With Snape and Dumbledore we actually see them turn over a new leaf and do good. With James it's just never adressed. "...TO NOT PAY ATTENTION"

Somehow, Snape hating the children is actually an iconic part of his character, and he doesn't hates or punishes children like Umbridge.
Like, the fandom is okay with him hating the class, because he doesn't hates them like THAT.
And then there's the toad.
Agree
Yes :3
The toad is on a whole different ball game of hating kids and punishment, Snape just makes it funny
The difference is that Umbridge sadistically tortures children. Snape never physically harmed any students, he just scolded them.
Snape was strict and the toad was cruel that's the difference.
Snape is like the maths teacher. His methods are harsh but he still cares for his students
Yea
Are you kidding? xD He bullied all Gryffindors mostly for no reason (in the books he is even worse, especially to Neville). He is a horrible teacher and a horrible person.
@@dr.bartfratze9354 actually every teacher has a method of teaching, harsh or soft, they still care for them

Dude that because he ate that thing called dragon balls or somethin' like that 🤣🤣
He ate dragon balls right before snape came
His name was Cormac McLaggen I think
That's Cormac McLaggen and Hermione invited him to Slughorn's Christmas Party to piss Ron off in HBP. He was eating dragon tartare and got sick when Harry told him it was dragon balls.

One thing I never got is how Snape chastised Harry for not paying attention, when he was literally taking notes
I would like to think Snape is one of those teachers who want his students to pay attention first, and write notes later when you contemplate on what have been taught.
That happens in real life as well. I was once chastised - at university - for looking at the problem sheet the teacher had just given us.
Same thing happened to me at school once. The teacher was explaining something and said: „Please write down what I‘ve just said, this is very important for understanding what I‘m going to explain next.“ So I wrote that down. And while I was writing the teacher continued to explain, noticed me writing and yelled at me for not paying attention 🙄.
@Phoebe's Convenience because you have to listen to them first so you hear it all and understand it before noting it down
