“Is it true that you shouted at Professor Umbridge?” “Yes.” “You called her a liar?” “Yes.” “You told her He Who Must Not Be Named is back?” “Yes.” “Have a biscuit, Potter.”
her comforting of trelawney is so meaningful to me because she has stated on multiple occasions that she doesn’t exactly respect her on a professional level. it almost feels like when someone picks on your sibling and you have to tell them ‘i can say it but you can’t and won’t’
That’s exactly what I determine it to be she’s worked with Trelawney longer so of course she can say it and our queen is nice about it she who must not be named isn’t
Harry was so cute excusing himself with "he spat at you, Professor" as if it was enough reason to cast a WHOLE TORTURING CURSE on someone (which is understandable in this case)😂❤
And now, Dame Maggie Smith has passed away at age of 89 years old. At 89, she became the oldest cast member in Harry Potter that live long enough. God bless her heart, rest in peace 🙏
mcgonagall's alliteration is always slay "besmirching that name by behaving like a babbling bumbling band of baboons" "a secret swan slumbers" "a lordly lion prepared to prance" "particularly proclivity for pyrotechnics"
2:59 is anyone gonna talk about how Umbridge goes a step higher than McGonagall so she seems more fierce and threatening, but McGonagall proceeds to do the same thing and now I think of Umbridge’s mind: Dang, she noticed me.
well in the book there is a section where it says umbridge stood up, which was nothing, but then mcgonagall stood up also and it was a much more impressive gesture, I think it was during the career selection meeting. Maybe they were trying to emulate this.
The part where McGonagall says: Potter is a boy, not a piece of mEaT, I agree. I have respect for her and my favorite teacher will always be Professor McGonagall.
We lost 2 great actors within a month James Earl Jones, voice of Anakin Skywalker (as Darth Vader) and voice of Mufasa (January 17, 1931 - September 9, 2024) Maggie Smith, actress of professor McGonagall (December 28, 1934 - September 27, 2024) RIP Both of them😭
You know at first I though she was going to be a very strict and hateful teacher. Yet by the passing of the movies I learned that she always meant well and she cared about her students, the best teacher ever. Someone I would be glad having to teach me. She deserves all love and praise and so Maggie Smith for being an awesome actress.
What I love is a scene in the books when she sees Peeves trying to unscrew a chandelier and she whispers to him at the corner of her mouth that it unscrews the other way to help him cause mischief since it was when umbridge was the headmaster. It really shows how much she hates her and I’m here for it ✨
@@MrPsyJak also how she would've wished to see Umbridge being chased out of the grounds, but couldn't because Peeves borrowed her walking stick and not one wizard or witch could've done a wheelchair ffs
“Obviously I received it, or I would have asked you what you are doing in my classroom” “May I offer you a cough drop, Dolores?” “He has achieved high marks in all Defense Against the Dark Arts tests set by a competent teacher.” -Professor McGonagall showing Umbridge who’s the real boss. 😂
If she had raised Harry, the series would have been over rather quickly. Mostly because Harry would roast the shit out of Voldemort. Edit: Also, Harry would have grown up in Hogwarts thus making him OP beyond belief. The only one that would dislike him would be Filch, but considering he was simping over Umbitch - his voting rights have been suspended indefinetly... he has also been tranfigured into a worm.
1:19 fun fact: recently I have been playing a new harry potter game called magic awakened and McGonagall's office door password is wronski feint,in the the books wronski feint is a quidditch move where a seeker pretends to swoop down like they've found the snitch so they can trick the opposite team's seeker to do so and fall, so yes, minerva is a quidditch stan
2:20 DYK that Snape used only blocking charms and blocked it in such a way it hit the 2 death eaters behind him which is an early signal that he was a triple agent
At the very least, he meant a lot to her, and she also meant a lot to harry (probably not as much as she cared about him though) especially during the scene where one of the carrows spits at mcgonagall and harry uses the cruciatus curse on them, showing that he really *means* it and wants to cause pain
I feel like Rowling failed to realize that Harry would have seen several other adults as surrogate parents, like her, and the Weasleys, and he might have found better people to honor than Albus and Severus
I just read past the part where Harry used the cruciatus curse on the Carrows just because he was furious of the brother disrespecting Prof McGonagall was just straight-up admirable. The carrows are like straight up bullies to her and its so sweet of harry to help stand up for her 😭
My favorite scene of all the books and movies came in deathly hallows, but it was left out of the movies Harry and Luna had just infiltrated Ravenclaw Tower, and were about to be caught by the Carrow siblings, and the brother said that they would blame the his sister’s call to Voldemort on the children upstairs. Immediately Minerva said that she would not allow him to blame his idiocy on the children of Hogwarts and he spat in her face. Harry immediately off his cloak of invisibility, and said you should not have done that and then tortured him. Minerva Exclaimed that he shouldn’t have done that, but he responded, but he spat on you! 🥰
I know we’re all here to remember her legacy and the impact she had on us all. Rest in Peace Dame Maggie. Forever loved and cherished for generations to come.
She is like looking out for everyone like a good person but remember when she turned into a human being from a cat vary beginning with the headmaster of wizardry of school of magic telling you that she has been there for harry since he were sent to his uncle and aunt she had become a royal role actress
She was my favorite character in the books, and Maggie did a fantastic job portraying her My favorite scene in all of the books was left out of the movies. It was in deathly hallows when Harry and Luna had infiltrated ravenclaw Tower. Harry and Luna had stunned the sister and her brother couldn’t get in because he was too dumb so Minerva got him in and then when he saw his sister passed out, he said they could blame her her false call to Voldemort on the kids upstairs. Minerva shut him down immediately saying I will not allow you to blame your idiocy on the children of Hogwarts and he spit on her at this, Harry immediately took off his cloak invisibility and did the torture curse, and Minerva gasped and said Potter, you shouldn’t of done that! Harry just responded, but he spat at you!
I like to think Snape didn’t hesitate because he knew he would lose, but because once upon a time he saw her as a mother figure as well, and later a good friend.
Dumbledore was the principal, but he was more a character as a hero protector. McGonagall was just like a deputy principal, tough on the students, but in a very caring way. She then finished the series as a commanding general.
Rest in Peace Dame Maggie Smith.

“Is it true that you shouted at Professor Umbridge?”
“Yes.”
“You called her a liar?”
“Yes.”
“You told her He Who Must Not Be Named is back?”
“Yes.”
“Have a biscuit, Potter.”
Yes omg yes
My absolute favorite part from the book 😂❤
I thought she was mad at him, was she not? Can someone explain 😭
She's telling him to have a biscuit because she's rewarding him since they both hate the Umbitch 😇
"Have another one, don't worry"
her comforting of trelawney is so meaningful to me because she has stated on multiple occasions that she doesn’t exactly respect her on a professional level. it almost feels like when someone picks on your sibling and you have to tell them ‘i can say it but you can’t and won’t’

Books show the perfect relation between McGonagall and Harry at moments.
Such as "Have a biscuit, Potter." And when Harry used Cruciatus on Carrow
Yeah, she'd do that
“you shouldn’t have done that”
“that was very - gallant of you”
Harry was so cute excusing himself with "he spat at you, Professor" as if it was enough reason to cast a WHOLE TORTURING CURSE on someone (which is understandable in this case)😂❤

Yep, basically my chemistry teacher. The only difference is the my teacher wasn’t Scottish

She didn't sign Harry because she knew Sirius was searching for Harry. She wanted Harry save in Hogwarts.
Never thought of it like that, she really was Harry's surrogate grandma.
mcgonagall's alliteration is always slay
"besmirching that name by behaving like a babbling bumbling band of baboons"
"a secret swan slumbers"

Agreement 🤝❤😂
"merely your medieaval methods" (to Umbridge)
“Potter, take Weasley with you. He looks far too happy over there.”
The way she cares so much about him she slays.💅
Neville: Boom?
McGonagall: *BOOM*
WICKED

Then McGonagall steps down but is still eye-to-eye with Umbridge.
I like that she stepped down a step not out of submission but to show that she'll protect her students and she'll stand with them

He would have turned him into a carrot
and what about the fact that mcgonagall does not have lily potter's blood to protect harry?
“I always wanted to use that spell!” Love that line, and will always do!
Snape doesn't bother trying to attack, he was just protecting himself
