The iPad mini can be found for $400 in the US. Taking price out of consideration, it is still the best all rounder in my opinion. It can do most of the things you want an iPad to do, in a size you actually want to use. I’ve had the 11” and 12.9” Pro, but I have only used the Mini consistently. My only caveat is if I were a student, I’d probably go with the 12.9” for screen real estate.
Just upgraded from the 2019 5th Gen iPad Mini to the new 7th Gen. it’s the form factor that works for me, and really complements my Product Red iPhone 13 Mini. Thanks for the content.
@@mariewood8372I’d say 5th to 7th is the perfect upgrade. You’ll obviously need a new case. I went with an ESR one. Hoping the Apple Pencil Pro gets discounted on Black Friday 🤞
I see so many people buy the pro or the air when all they are going to do is stream videos and surf the web. They don’t understand that even the most basic iPads will do 95 percent of what the pros do and 99 percent of people will never use that 5%. A lot of this has to do with tech bros who are producing video content. THEY need the power of the pros. Their grandma does not. I’m still using a 7th gen ipad for business and it does everything I need and more.
I just got another 10th gen for Xmas cause mine is a massive hit at my house. My children love playing Roblox on it, for me, the only thing that’s missing is Apple intelligence so I’ll be waiting on the 11th gen to get a third iPad 😊
@@Rinnara21 hey, i wish they would release it before xmas, would be nice to have one that last's a lot longer in terms of power with the new chip that's coming. but i guess I will have to settle with the 10th
I kinda disagree about the ipad 10th gen. The base model comes with a 64GB of storage, this isn’t enough whether you’re a student, a grandma, an iPad kid - soon you’ll find yourself removing apps or using cloud which isn’t very comfortable. When you expand the storage to 256GB, the price becomes comparable to the 128GB iPad Air. The lack of a laminated display is a very significant problem for note-takers who want a paper-like feel. A gap between the screen and the display makes your notes feel “distant” in a way. The base iPad is designed this way for schools to be able to repair it for cheaper, but it’s not the most user friendly design. Moreover, the base iPad is more than 2 years old now, there being talks of iPad 11th gen already. It also uses an iPhone 12 chip. These are significant compromises as the base iPad isn’t as future-proof. On the other hand, the iPad Air uses m2, a computer chip, with double the amount of cores. For someone who wants to invest in an iPad for the long term, iPad Air is a better choice.
@@wandersonfreitasfilho5122 If 64GB is enough for a person, and if that person doesn't need the Air's specific features like screen sharing or the pencil pro, I agree that it might be the better choice with its price. 350 dollars is really good, and that yellow looks gorgeous. However, as a student who gets distracted by the most minor things, putting the data for my tablet in another device, would become a chore for me.
@@yippiecalle421 well i'm getting the 10th gen for xmas, so can't really hold out for the 11th gen, which is supposed to be released spring 2025.....quite disappointing they didn't release it this year.
I’m not sure this will average a lot of views for you compared to other videos that you make because basically they’re all the same but the mini is smaller. I say this as an owner of a pro, an air and a base model.
Compared to the iPhones, why are the iPads regressing in their camera lenses. The iPad Mini is the perfect device for capturing content, or especially spatial content if capable… Camera operators often attach larger monitors or touch screens to their camera rigs, which also means Apple should either offer a 1TB capacity for the Mini, or introduce a Pro version… An iPad Mini with the cameras and storage capacity options of the iPhone Pro series would revolutionize the content creation industry by leaps and bounds… 🤔
I got an M2 Air new for £509 and I’m happy with it. I mostly use it for comics and media consumption. My laptop needs are very basic, so it does the job there (just) with stage manager, too.
Same, I rarely used my laptop ever since I got the M2 Air 11 inch Cellular. I mainly consume media, business meetings, write emails, and sign documents on the iPad, I don't play games at all. I thought about the iPad Mini but honestly keyboard is a necessity for me, so the 11 inch Air is just the right size to always be in my backpack as my workhorse device.
I will say that for me, i think the new iPad Mini is the right choice. I’m not looking for games or movies (bar maybe on my relatively frequent flights for work to not drain my phone battery). The goal was to show my photography portfolio on the road if I didn’t have my physical one (prints). Anti-reflective was important since i want my images to not be hidden by interior lighting, not having that air gap with the screen is also big in case it’s wet outside and I don’t want to hand people a larger tablet that they could drop easier. I think overall the size is fine. I bought my wife the pro a couple years ago and I don’t want to travel with something /that/ expensive

Another great video, Tech Chap. I’ve been continuously tempted to buy a new iPad Pro ever since it first came out with the M1 chip. However, other than a dying battery that I’m going to replace, my 2018 iPad Pro (12.9” screen, 512GB, cell, Logitech keyboard case, and Apple Pencil 2), which cost about US $1,800 still performs flawlessly. It even runs iPad OS 18.1 (with some limitations, obviously).
I think the 10th gen for most people with the 128gb. The iPad Air is what I am looking at, the 13” with 256gb. I have the 1st gen pro now, a 12.9”. I got this one for under $400 with the keyboard and pencil many years ago and am just now looking to update. Primarily for the M2 chip to run a golf simulator. I did get the iPad mini 4 way back new for $299 new at Best Buy. I like the mini when traveling and the Pro at home or in the office. I rarely use my iPad Air 1 anymore. I think it’s a 9.7”.
The iPad mini is by far my favorite iPad and I use it everyday. I am pretty mad they didn’t add a high refresh display and chose that non update after 3 years. Come on Apple a high refresh display isn’t a “pro” feature!!
About the new mini, considering it's only $50 more than the regular and has double the storage, it makes the regular model redundant. Edit: I only just remembered the price cut.
I just want a big screen for my games, shows, and decent sound. I don’t care about the camera, how bright the screen is, whatever special coating. Just something to take to work to kill time, and use around the house.
iPad 9... get it. iPad 10... flawed. iPad mini ... get a phone, then. iPad Pro... almost no one needs this. iPad Air, OK, but try the 9 first. If you want a keyboard, then what you want is a laptop.
I’d say the iPad Pro only isn’t worthy the newer generation but the older generations M2 and below could be more worthy than the Air cuz it has the same price and it’s better
i used a mini 6th gen to get things done for nursing school & currently for work, if you are planning long term use then an Air or Pro may be the best option especially for larger onboard storage and future proofed performance
I really feel that the OLED screen is a game changer. Anyone who has ever used an OLED knows just how much it does if you’re consuming video content. The 11 inch iPad Pro for me seems like the best deal just because of that. The 13 inch is just to large and you’re basically going to carry around a laptop screen.
I don't know where apple has left itself to go with the iPad and apple intelligence? The A17Pro seems like the lowest chip that can support Apple Intelligence and they've already used it in the mini. I can't see them releasing the 11th gen iPad without it so maybe the M1...?
Thanks for a great review and comparison. I’ve been using my 1st Gen iPad Pro, every day, for over 8 years now. I have been looking at the 13” Air and, as I don’t upgrade often, I’m looking for longevity. I’ll be going for the 13” Air 512Gb Wi-Fi very soon! Then save up for the keyboard…
If the iPad 10 had support for Apple Intelligence, I would agree with your number one pick. With Apple going all in on Apple Intelligence, the iPad 10 will miss out on features when future ipadOS versions are released.
I haven’t had a new ipad since ipad gen6 , and recently went for an ipad pro 13 i know it’s more expensive and i do plan on using it for work. Could i have gotten a lesser expensive base ipad yes but i figured i only live once so wanted to try the higher end at least once lol thanks for sharing enjoyed the review
I bought the 10th gen at 128g of storage which is almost full. I honestly think they need to rethink their storage moving forward or people will just walk away regardless..especially in 2024/25! ALSO my wish list for the common man would be a 13” screen. A slightly lesser spec VERY user friendly and reachable in pricing and they’d open up to consumers currently considering other brands…
Disagree - Mini 7 - amazing 😘 size/portable & lower price due to inflation & 2x RAM/storage & pro ✏️ & LY top mobile chip! 80% 🔋 limiter xtend life 2-3x before replace. UA-camr Canoopsy has a great Mini 7 review showing the great benefits of this device. Can bring it anywhere. At 0.4% of Apple’s total revenues I’m thrilled it got such an amazing update. Enjoy your reviews always, can’t agree with everything though can I? 🤣 … but even then I always love the B roll of the UK.❤
I think the biggest merit of the iPad Mini is its portability. On a flight / train, a bigger screen would attract more attention that you don't want. Not with the Mini which is comfortable for e.g. reading, watching videos or whatever you do. It is also unrivalled for note taking and for that purpose the Pencil USB-C is more than enough.
@ yep, the fact you can bring it anywhere so easily is it’s killer feature. Plus the 80% battery limiter will extend the battery life for years, which is fantastic! W/1yr old top mobile processor It’s a beast!
In the US, we have the option of buying the 2022 11-inch 1TB M2 iPad Pro for $1100 or 2024 11-inch 1TB M4 iPad Pro for $1650. So, in terms of depreciation, they're priced the exact same. The 2022 model will have software update support for 1.5 years longer than the 2024 model. Which one to get?
Couldn’t disagree more the base iPad best option…no way only 4gb RAM A14 chip whoever buys it can forget Ai and 64gb storage shouldn’t even be an option. As far as the 13” M2 Air too big for a tablet the M2 Air 11” 512gb on sale best option.
Apple is just lazy for not designing a specific Magic Keyboard for iPad Air. Even without OCD, that big cut out for a small camera bump is just an eye sore.
At the end of the it’s just a tablet. So base model is fine. Got a third party bluetooth keyboard and a pencil which together costed me 50 bucks only. More than enough for my need.
M1 11” iPad Pro an unbeatable option in my opinion. 120hz, speakers, chip that won’t quit. I recently added a 17A Pro iPad mini for note taking and that mini lifestyle, but kept the pro as it’s just great.

Even remote playing my PS5/XBOX when away also. I do like the look of the Air M2 - 128GB - i think would be enough storage? i really wanted something in the black friday sales, but air ipad m2 is only down basically £50 cheaper than usual
i just ordered a 9th gen ipad so this is not entirely realistic ;) but ok to be fair, i ordered it to just use as a mobile game device because i normally iuse my ipad pro. but as the ipad mini 7 still has a 60 hertz display i would say, literally 300 bucks less for the 9th gen ipad iif ofcourse such a better deal ? i remember the first gen ipad mini being only between 200 and 300 bucks but now.. the fact that also the 10th gen ipad is less expensive than the ipad mini.. that's just crazy.

which one would be the best for 6 years of medical school? and thank you this was very helpful!
i used a mini 6th gen to get things done for nursing school & currently for work, if you are planning long term use then an Air or Pro may be the best option especially for larger onboard storage and future proofed performance
I love my 13inch Air, no longer need a Mac.
I just watched your video where Mimi wasnt updated, i think you edited the same video 😄 btw helpful
I think so to😂😂😂
I prefer the iPad Air since I really care for the stage manager, Apple intelligence features, and the Apple Pencil pro with the keyboard
I literally just bought an iPad mini today. Watching this video after reaching home.
$999 is pretty expensive if all one is doing is consuming content.
It’s not that big the 13in. I have it and it’s brilliant 🤩
I don't know where apple has left itself to go with the iPad and apple intelligence? The A17Pro seems like the lowest chip that can support Apple Intelligence and they've already used it in the mini. I can't see them releasing the 11th gen iPad without it so maybe the M1...?
0:05 Tom casually using the force to stop the pencils!
😉
With Apple iCloud available, is more on-board storage still needed? Thank you for the excellent summary.
Those wallpapers are sick! Where to get them!?😊
Speaking of the iPad 10, Amazon is selling it right now for an amazing $279 😳 Mine’s ordered already! 😎👍
Is this a re-upload? Cause I've seen this exact same video a week ago as well
used the old video segments with a new section for the new mini
Watching this hasn't really helped me make my decision. Which one would you recommend for digital planning, organizing and just overall productivity.
Ipad mini a17 pro all day long
Thanks for a great review and comparison.
Remember the Apple Newton from 30 years ago? 😃 Technology has come a long way. The screens look beautiful.
Coming from the Mini 5, I hope that it is a good upgrade to the Mini 7.
I have the iPad 10 gen it does everything amazing
I haven’t had a new ipad since ipad gen6 , and recently went for an ipad pro 13 i know it’s more expensive and i do plan on using it for work. Could i have gotten a lesser expensive base ipad yes but i figured i only live once so wanted to try the higher end at least once lol thanks for sharing enjoyed the review
I got the air(m2) on sale in Amazon for 498. Which was a big chunk off. that’s why I pulled the trigger on it. If not, I would’ve gotten the 10th gen.
13inch iPad Pro and iPad mini is the perfect combo ! IMO
Do you have the 13inch M4 Pro?
If money grew on trees then yes
I bought the 10th gen at 128g of storage which is almost full. I honestly think they need to rethink their storage moving forward or people will just walk away regardless..especially in 2024/25! ALSO my wish list for the common man would be a 13” screen. A slightly lesser spec VERY user friendly and reachable in pricing and they’d open up to consumers currently considering other brands…
It feels like I have seen this intro before 🤣
I have the new iPad Pro m4 13in oled. Beautiful screen and great for streaming ps5
I find it just like the greed of Apple to still be selling the 9th Gen Ipad but not supporting it. What a bunch or crooks
bought the old ipad mini in august and now i want to upgrade to the new one. i know i don’t need it but saying no is so hard 😔
It’s hilarious to me how fragmented Apple has become. There’s WAY too many confusing options for iPads. A standard and pro version is enough!
Cool I’ll be getting the pro in 10 8 years I’ll stick to my head phone jack for now
Couldn’t disagree more the base iPad best option…no way only 4gb RAM A14 chip whoever buys it can forget Ai and 64gb storage shouldn’t even be an option. As far as the 13” M2 Air too big for a tablet the M2 Air 11” 512gb on sale best option.
Ipad pro M4 13 in end of discussion
Apple is just lazy for not designing a specific Magic Keyboard for iPad Air. Even without OCD, that big cut out for a small camera bump is just an eye sore.
great video..please make similar video about iphones
18:06 the new screen is much better for picture or video editing especially in reference mode😮
At the end of the it’s just a tablet. So base model is fine. Got a third party bluetooth keyboard and a pencil which together costed me 50 bucks only. More than enough for my need.
The price "ladder" is outrageous
Unpopular opinion but M1 iPad air is a good middle ground
Not unpopular at all - very sensible. Most people don't need the Pro and the M1 just flies
M1 11” iPad Pro an unbeatable option in my opinion. 120hz, speakers, chip that won’t quit.
I recently added a 17A Pro iPad mini for note taking and that mini lifestyle, but kept the pro as it’s just great.
@@sorryitookthisname2 We all know what the M1 is capable of and we know that iPadOS is limiting the real performance of the M1. I'd say you're still good for quite some time.
Its obvious, buy a m1 or m2 pro. You can buy them for around 500. You get 120htz and a better display as well as faster usb c.
if i want an ipad for note taking in university but also gaming a lot, which one would be the best option?
I'd go with IPad Mini
If your a Gamer Don't Buy none of these Ipads But instead Get a Rugged Dimensity 8050 to 9000 no lower than 7 Has More Battery 🔋 Good Speakers there's Oled & Amoled version too
Hmmm…this kind of talked me down on the Mini 7 which I’ve been seriously considering🤔🤔 I haven’t had a tablet since 2019
So this the same Ipad review from before, but just with the new mini, but in my opinion im copping that 13 inch air 100%
Indeed! Minor update with the Mini, but it was important to include it, but I’ll do a whole new vid for 2025 soon
350 for an iPad is a no Brainer
Nice vid.👍,keep up the great work👍💪❤.
Best seller on paper is pro … but let’s be honest u ain’t gonna do hardcore stuffs be it games / if ur some UA-camr etc etc.
If u are you would have got the MBP / iPad Pro .
iPad mini or the regular iPad is good enough for most of us here.
If you want oled just hook it up to an external monitor or just all out for pro. By then you’ll doubt yourself and get MacBook instead. I sold my mini and re bought it again. Honestly the mini is the best tablet there is for common people like us 😅
Excellent overview
Thank you this helped a lot
Which one u recommend for art
I find it funny when people say that Apple didn’t give oled or pro motion display for iPad like cmon they would give it to iPad Air first and then to iPad mini.
They should have just given slimmer bezels that’s it
Cool stuff sir
Thanks, great video!
I'm wanting to buy my 1st ipad....unsure where to go, initially i was gonna get a 10th Generation but believe 64gb storage is not near enough. it's only gonna be for using for social media browsing (fb, reddit, insta, youtube) and watching films/movies when in bed or away in hotel. Even remote playing my PS5/XBOX when away also. I do like the look of the Air M2 - 128GB - i think would be enough storage? i really wanted something in the black friday sales, but air ipad m2 is only down basically £50 cheaper than usual
64GB is going to fill up very quickly. I’d go for 256GB.
watching this on my ipad 10th gen
i just ordered a 9th gen ipad so this is not entirely realistic ;)
but ok to be fair, i ordered it to just use as a mobile game device because i normally iuse my ipad pro.
but as the ipad mini 7 still has a 60 hertz display i would say, literally 300 bucks less for the 9th gen ipad iif ofcourse such a better deal ?
i remember the first gen ipad mini being only between 200 and 300 bucks but now..
the fact that also the 10th gen ipad is less expensive than the ipad mini.. that's just crazy.
The iPad's real flaw is really iPad OS. So much power, yet way too limited.
Hello Tom, Why did you manipulate your voice? You already have a nice Sweet ,British accent . Your natural sound is impressive and more friendly. don't change it please😊. Regards.
Your weird 😂
I would have chosen the Mini if it had OLED and/or 120Hz display.
For content consumption, the iPad Mini is more than enough, even with the 60Hz screen. Check out in store if that is acceptable for you.
@@SPFboy86stop sellling BS a Android 120 usd phone is oled 120hz why we can’t have that across all the line on Apple?
Maybe 2026/2027. Just like how some of us waiting for Nintendo switch to have 120hz rate 😂. I ain’t gonna wait that long. Just buy and trade in next time
@@Alx2104 You are missing the point. The iPad Mini is meant to be a portable device and not for heavy professional use. Of course a 120Hz would have been nice, but it wouldn't make such a difference as many people are trying to suggest.
Besides, the iPad Air is 60Hz and even the iPhone 16 is 60Hz too.
@ you are missing the point, apple keeps not delivering the technology that you expect for the price, we don’t need double tandem OLED but Normal Oled 120hz or not.
We found technology like that in 200 dollars or less phones nowadays, the same apply for IPhone and their Laptops, Oled is everywhere nowadays.
I’m looking at the air 13, but only for the 13” screen. To use for media mostly UA-cam. I’m afraid I’ll regret the big iPad, but using the mini 6gen now and I’m getting tired of that little screen.
I have absolutely no use for all the power the Air has.
The difference for me is that 64 gb of storage is atrocious. So I’d have to upgrade the 10th gen. At that point, you are only $100 off from the air.
