Hi! May i ask, is it worth spending more for storage or is 64gb enough to use for university and maybe streaming services? Wont the OS start taking up more storage with time?

I’m going for the 13” pro I’ve been waiting years never owned an iPad. So for it to be my first one I think it’s a good one to go with. Since it’s new and has all the other perks and I will be using it for years I hope haha. I’m getting cuz I want something close to a laptop but touch screen and apple only has iPads. They don’t make touch screen laptops 😂
I agree that, at the moment, the base iPad is the best proposition. Until iPad OS evolves in a substantial way, the usage experience is pretty much the same no matter the hardware, so paying 2x and even 3x the money makes little sense.
Another way to look at it is an iPad is one giant screen, so the one with the best screen? Unfortunately that’s super expensive but a 12.9” ProRes m1 iPad sells on eBay for a similar price as the baseline IPad which is pretty insane value. Food for thought :)
I personally bought an iPad Air M2 for school and it has helped me more than anything. Take it from me, don’t go pro. The iPad Air has everything you actually need and more powerful than ever with the M2 chip. It has the Apple Intelligence, Apple Pencil Pro support, and Math notes (for students). Personally, the Math notes was one of my best updates for iPadOS 18. In addition, it’s also way cheaper than the iPad Pro. In my opinion, if you are looking to buy an iPad, you should go for the iPad Air. Hope this helps 😊
If you’re like me and only plan to use it occasionally, or at home in bed, just get the cheaper one. There’s absolutely no need for the higher end ones unless you plan to use it a lot. Wish someone told me this before I spent a grand on something I only use before bed.
well a lot of people aren't like you, first of all they're smart enough to know beforehand what they actually want to do with it and second they DO use it for more things other than 'use before bed', so a pro for those smart ones is the better move. My last ipad is over 6 years old, never had one since, so I finally got the 11 inch pro 2024 as a college student I also got the pencil pro for free, meaning I don't have to spend another 130 bucks just for the pencil. The pro itself was 200 bucks cheaper thanks to my student discount.
I’ve been doing days upon days of research, watching tons of reviews on what iPad best suits me, and by far your video is both informative and straight to the point. You just got a subscription! For those who absolutely want 120hz or those who are thinking of getting a 10th gen iPad, A refurbished 2018 iPad Pro is the way to go. A12x is still killer! Amazon is selling the 512gb models at $440 after tax!( Excellent condition ) 256gb for $410. Best choice for people who don’t want to spend $1000+ on an iPad.
Currently writing this from my iPad mini 6, it is the best purchase I have made alongside the iPhone. As a university student it is such a compact device and you can take it anywhere. It also is perfect for taking notes and has a nice battery. I hope apple upgrades this model because it really is a catch
The USB C pencil is worth getting if you’re using it for note taking. I have the Apple Pencil Pro and it is trash when I’m trying to write notes in Freeform or the Notes app using the calligraphy tool because that barrel roll feature messes up my handwriting. And what’s great is that the pencil is compatible with all the iPads currently in the market.
Unless you need the new Pencil Pro, buy Second hand M1 or M2 Pro. Same for the Ipad mini. Some good prices on ebay etc if you are parered to wait a bit.
For entry-level the M1 11 inch iPad air should be the minimum recommended, Especially for AI upcoming features, future proof for Yrs it’s on sale NEW for 399 in the US probably all over the world as Apple clears up the stock, plus Apple sell the refurbished for 399 also
Here in my country apple doesn't sell refurbished products. I went to an apple store and they said no. Also I can't buy the M1 ipad air from Amazon as well they have removed it from there as well.
@@chandleryt7496 in USA apple marks down older models when new releases ... Hope they do soon where you are. M1 iPad is the best deal going here 399 new or refurb.
Just replaced my 2018 iPad Pro with the latest 2024 13 inch and am so pleased and happy with it and the apple keyboard. I think I had waited long enough for the upgrade. I once used the paperlike for about 6 months but found it dulled my screen so much, that when I removed the cover it was like night and day that I had missed the glossiness of the true iPad screen for so long. Paperlike is pointless with a now tandem oled screen. Nice video thank you.
@@filip27_ Absolutely it is such a workhorse. Fantastic to think it was 6 years old and still functioned brilliantly. I was able to get my new IPad with Amazon pay in 5 and so sold my iPad with the Magic Keyboard (because that would not work with the new iPad) for £500 or $550 on EBay.
Was planning on buying ipad pro 13 inches because of the screen. Had no idea there was an ipad air with that screen size also. Just saved a lot of money
At this point, I'm considering picking up last years Air. Since it only costs a bit more then the standard iPads, but has support for the new pencil, has a laminated display and an M1 Chip, so they're compatible with the AI stuff. Whenever that actually launches in Europe, that is.
Air 5 is brilliant and unless you are a serious artist, you don’t really need an apple pencil, third party one does the job and it’s 6 times cheaper. No way I need an upgrade as Air 5 is smooth as a knife through butter after 2 years. Top quality.
As an IPad 10 user, I love this thing, it is cheap and is reliable for school and college, they just talk about awkward pencil charging, but what’s the deal, I love this guy’s choice
Buy the iPad Pro 11" 3rd Gen for 350 used and you got the best deal: -M1 Chip for Apple Intelligence and iOS 18 -Normal and Ultrawide Camera -LiDAR sensor -Crazy ass mics and speakers -FaceID -Pen 2 and Smart Folio Keyboard Support Best choice rn, buy before iOS 18 is out, cos prices will boom.
Also consider the option of buying an iPad through a cell phone carrier: Two weeks ago, I purchased my new iPad Air 13” M2 for $40/month (+$20 cell service). However, they currently offer a $30/month discount off my internet service plan when I buy an iPad. So all in all, I pay $30/month for the cellular-enabled iPad Air 13. Just an option.
I've got the iPad Air 5 and it's great. All I really needed it for was for notetaking and it's great for that. Anything more complicated than that I let my Macbook Air/Pro take care of
I want a 13” sized iPad, but the 13” iPad Air M2 brand new costs as much as a similar specced but used 12.9” iPad Pro M2 plus a used Magic Keyboard plus a new Pencil gen 2. After I bought it, turns out it was originally sold in Nov 2022, and according to the Apple Store still has 95% battery health. Considering the miniLED screen is tons better than the regular LCD Air screen, I think I made the right choice.
Currently using the 5th Gen iPad Mini, along with my iPhone 13 Mini and Apple Watch. The iPad Mini is the form factor that works for me - don't need anything MacBook or iPad Pro sized - so l'm waiting very impatiently for the new one. Thanks for the content.
im using the ipad 6th gen. does decent but is bad at playing games. its too laggy, something i dont understand is that quite literally 2 months ago, i had absolutely 0 lag on games but all of a sudden i lag in every game i play. not only that, but i somehow am lagging when i scroll through articles, even my keyboard lags. cant wait to buy the 10th gen. if the 11th gen comes out early im definitely going for it. its probably just because ive been using it for 5 and a half years but its still confusing how a random lag spike happens like that.
@@Sh1nyjr Hey ! I'm facing a similar dilemma, was thinking of going for the the 10th gen base price ipad but now im not sure if I should wait out the 11th gen, but no clue when it drops. ( Im also using 6th gen rn )
M1 iPad Air is honestly amazing I thought that the 60hz would be bother and it definitely did but after a while the speedyness of the apps loading and everything made the iPad feel faster so it’s the best one to buy right now
I'm a college student, and while I probably could have gotten the bigger sized iPads and have been fine, I got my iPad Mini 6th Gen specifically for its size and portability. Also the 2nd Gen Apple Pencil has been really great for taking notes in my classes. And then, when I'm not using it for school work, it's great for streaming content and browsing + gaming. Overall I'm happy with the Mini
@@micaylahloebig4874 I feel like it does, and I like it better than writing in spiral notebooks as I'm a right handed so when I write on the back of the page my hand is always on the spiral and it gets uncomfortable after a while. I own iPad Pro M1 12.9”. Based on the online reviews that M4 iPad Pro with OLED got even brighter, colourful, perfect black level screen etc., I ordered one to see if I should replace my M1 Pro. I found indeed it is brighter, better contrast and more punchy colours and of course buttery smooth. What I did not like is that it has quite a warmer tone, skins tone is not great. When I kept M1 and M4 Pro side by side it was quite evident - M1 I found more neutral and natural colours. I’ve done lots of photo editing and quite sensitive to colour accuracy - did not find M4 convincing enough to and worth $1,300 USD. May be later OLED improvement would be better, for now M1 Pro continues to be excellent.
@@doll1919 I like it. It’s definitely overkill but I really wanted to go all out. I have tried doing some video editing on luma fusion and the iPad Pro handles it really well. The keyboard case is excellent for typing and the pencil is also very good.
I have the latest Pro 13 and the iPad mini and I don’t think I’d recommend them to anyone even though I love it. They’re very niche enthusiast devices. I agree with the recommendations here - if you are looking for a simple iPad, go for the 10th gen iPad. If you want a nice secondary laptop style experience, get the 13’ Air. If Apple were to trim down their product portfolio, it would simply come down to keeping the basic iPad and the current Air (maybe with a 120hz option). And hopefully one pencil to support both lines. Everything else in their iPad lineup is unnecessary right now.
It’s almost like.. if I’m not going to spend $1,000 on an iPad Pro with Pro Motion, then I don’t want one at all. Because spending $600 to deal with 60Hz doesn’t make sense.
I would avoid the base iPad because it doesn't have the longevity of the Air and Pro models. I know many people that still use the first or second gen iPad Pro without any problems while the standard iPad from those times are almost unusable. I would recommend the Air and if you want the few extra features of the pro (promotion, faceid, oled screen, better speakers) then go for the pro but its absolutely not necessary.
As a past time artist, I was using the base 10th the last 1 or 2 years. It’s good but I absolutely hate charging the pen. You’re dependent on your iPad having enough battery to support it since you can’t charge it at the same time. The screen is also very plasticky feeling and you notice how the top screen layer bends when pressing it. The 10,9” is fine, but it gets a bit cramped and I would 100% upgrade to a 12,9” or the 13” if you aren’t a total beginner artist. The screen is also a tad muddy i feel, and it is pretty hard to watch movies in a well lit area. Definitely loved it, and the pink colour was absolutely stunning, but I’m definitely looking to upgrade. Though I can’t figure out for the life of me if I should choose a 4, 5 ir 6 gen pro, or the new 13” air.
I have an 11 M2 iPad i absolutely love it!!!! I was thinking about getting the 13 inch air. I agree with everything you’ve said Tom, another great video bro.
I have an M2 12.9 Pro. Bought a 13in Air 2 weeks ago. The 60hz was so noticeable (especially on a big screen!) that I decided to return it and stay with my M2 12.9. YMMV but I'd say M2 Pro 12.9 > Air 13.
I’ve had the iPad Air 3 for over 5 years now (it was released 5 years ago, bought it when it was released) it still works PERFECTLY smoothly to this day. However I do face lag when I do heavy multitasking but apart from that if you want it just for UA-cam, some games and the basics this is brilliant. If you’re a content creator or a gamer or all day user this may not be the best option in 2024. But at the time (2019) it was
I much prefer to work with the iPad/Magic Keyboard but, because iOS doesn't run a piece of software that is crucial to my work flow, I have to stick with my MacBook Air and maybe consider getting an iPad Mini to satisfy my iPad desires. Apple!
For my usage my Redmi Pad SE ideal. Great battery life, solid performance, metal housing and solid display. Nowhere near as fast as an iPad10, but a great deal for under 200€.
I’m honestly going to miss this IPad because it has “to my beloved princess Zunairah, with loads of love Mum and Dad xxx” engraved on it and it’s rose gold which is a colour I was obsessed with as a child when I got this and it means sm to me I got it on Eid (like Christmas) when I was younger and life was still good I’m literally gonna cry I can’t believe my mum broke it😭😭😭
The best option for me is the iPad Air 13-inch (M2). I currently have the iPad Air 2 so if I upgrade to the new iPad Air, it would make a very big difference! 😊
Great comparison, the iPad lineup is too confusing with too many options. Personally I don't see why anyone should buy the iPad Air for £599 when you can get the M1 iPad Pro refurbished for £549 with faceID, 120Hz and Quad Speakers for £549. The only exception I can think of is when Apple releases their back to school sale where you can get the education discount with a free gift card of £80 I think it is for iPads.
I just got the mini 6 and I agree with the points you made, but I ended being able to get it for 379 on Amazon. And at that price I think it’s a fair product. The air was out of the question and it was really between the mini and the 10th gen. I love it so far!
iPad 9: Best bang for your buck. iPad 10: 9 is better. iPad Mini: Really? Go get yourself a phone then, if you want small. iPad Pro: Not many people are going to use it to its full potential. iPad Air: OK, but try 9 first. Extra: Getting yourself a keyboard for your tablet? Then you need a LAPTOP. Extra extra: have appropriate storage, DITCH iCloud which sucks balls. Keep what you own.
Fun fact, I’m actually going from the iPad nine to the air m2 because the nine doesn’t really support the games that I wanna play and run them that well
Can you pleease suggest a tablet, below are my usage. 1) S-pen 2) quad speaker 3) External display/projector support 4) Full keyboard support 5) Should support office apps like ms-office including edit & pdf edit apps.
I bought the 2024 13” iPad Pro 2TB since I do music and videos…. I also own the latest mini to read books, listen to music, listen to podcasts and watch tv.
I purchased an IPad Pro M1 a couple of years ago. I also got 1 TB of space. I have only used 35 GB of space so far. I use it for email, UA-cam Video's and reading books and magazines. I don't think that I would need the additional features of the M2 or M4 because I don't do video editing or advanced functions.
I just upgraded from the iPad mini 6th generation 256 GB to the iPad Air 256 GB 11 inch screen and it’s AMAZING. 🤩 I did it for the bigger screen and the faster processor.
THE ONLY COMPARISON VIDEO THAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! I chose the iPad Air 13! Instead of buying the iPad Pro 2024 base model with 256Gb Cellular, I bought the Air 13 with 1Tb Cellular which currently have the same price tag on amazon at the moment! 120hrz and tandem OLED from Pro aren’t that of a big deal for me. It’s the storage! It supports the new pencil Pro as well. Never considering keyboard as I have a Macbook. With Air 13, I’m sitting right next to the king, Pro. Safely.
17:16 I don’t have deep pockets but I’m thinking longevity as whatever I’ll be getting in the end will be replacing an air 2 so about 16 to 20 years old, yes my iPad is old enough to start it own family (but still not old enough to drink at its own wedding, the US has so really silly laws) the screen is literally flapping in the breeze so it’s time to get a new one but I’m not sold on what tablet iOS or Android.
I went from PC desktop to PC laptop to iPad….and, since 2017, have remained iPad only. Basic stuff, obviously, but also tons of pdfs with my nerd old-school rpg (D&D and more)… also, more importantly, I’ve been using just and only base model (except for storage) iPads to do full-on music creation/production with multiple apps, etc for years. Never once needed an iPad Air nor an iPad Pro. Also, as I’ve transferred everything from iPad to iPad, and saving tons of docs, samples, music files, music production tools, etc….. I’ve used a total of 52GB…..over 7 years! My “basic” 2020 iPad can still do everything and anything I throw at it. There are absolutely and inarguable cases wherein ya need more, perhaps a whole lot more….but, don’t be fooled into imagining ya need the latest and greatest iPad.
I just ordered an engraved, 64gb, WiFi only 10th gen for my grandparents Honestly the only concern is that it might be too big for my Grandma so if that happens it’s just a case of returning it and getting a renewed mini, solving all the flaws the 10th gen has 😂
Super video, great presentation, very natural style. I was flipping between the 11" and 13" Air, erring on 11" but now thinking 13", it may come to a flick of a coin.
For my personal usage, I find that upgrading from iPad Pro 2020 to M4 makes a difference. My previous iPad started being slow for the work I do. And the lightness does make a big difference since I bring a lot of stuffs everyday.

Do you think the 10th gen would be any good for art? Ive never used apple products before so its really confusing. Does the pencil not having pressure sensitivity hold you back in your art?

Will the 10th gen iPad not get iPadOS 18 all together or just not apple intelligence? Because I’m thinking of buying the 10th gen iPad, but because I will use it for school I would really need the calculator feature later this year. Thanks in advance
I have both the iPad Pro 11 with the M4 and an iPad mini and I consistently find myself using the mini the most often. Something about that form factor just makes it so nice to use.
anything above 11 inch is a pain to have to continuously hole in your hand, sure you can get a cover etc but the big screen Ipads or tablets in general can't do anything better than a 4K laptop with OLED and you can sit it on your lap, adjust the screen without having to hold it. I do love my Ipad air 5th Gen though. Just wish it had a proper OS. For most people though who just browse and look at streaming media a cheaper OLED android would probably be better with better aspect ratio for watching movies, netflix etc.

Precisely the reason apple won't do it!
For those who absolutely want 120hz or those who are thinking of getting a 10th gen iPad, A refurbished 2018 iPad Pro
is the way to go. A12x is still killer!
Amazon is selling the 512gb models at $440 after tax!( Excellent condition )
256gb for $410.
I went iPad 9. It was 249 when I got it, and honestly does everything I need it to do.
The best option is buy an iPad Air M1 at $399👌✌️💯
m1pro is my best
For entry-level the M1 11 inch iPad air should be the minimum recommended, Especially for AI upcoming features, future proof for Yrs
it’s on sale NEW for 399 in the US probably all over the world as Apple clears up the stock, plus Apple sell the refurbished for 399 also
Here in my country apple doesn't sell refurbished products. I went to an apple store and they said no.
Also I can't buy the M1 ipad air from Amazon as well they have removed it from there as well.
That is exactly the option I choose, as soon as it went on sale for $399.
Was the pro from 2018 still good for basic use?
@@filip27_ Absolutely it is such a workhorse. Fantastic to think it was 6 years old and still functioned brilliantly. I was able to get my new IPad with Amazon pay in 5 and so sold my iPad with the Magic Keyboard (because that would not work with the new iPad) for £500 or $550 on EBay.
Was planning on buying ipad pro 13 inches because of the screen. Had no idea there was an ipad air with that screen size also. Just saved a lot of money
Thank you for including that pencil comparison chart, things just got so confusing with compatibility
glad it helped!
At this point, I'm considering picking up last years Air. Since it only costs a bit more then the standard iPads, but has support for the new pencil, has a laminated display and an M1 Chip, so they're compatible with the AI stuff. Whenever that actually launches in Europe, that is.
You’re right it is an absolutely great tablet though It does not support the new Pro pencil. Just thought I’d help you out.
AI won’t launch in Europe for a year or two, legal issues are quite complex
The perfect choice just make it fast before it gets out of stock
Air 5 is brilliant and unless you are a serious artist, you don’t really need an apple pencil, third party one does the job and it’s 6 times cheaper. No way I need an upgrade as Air 5 is smooth as a knife through butter after 2 years. Top quality.
As an IPad 10 user, I love this thing, it is cheap and is reliable for school and college, they just talk about awkward pencil charging, but what’s the deal, I love this guy’s choice
There are adapters from third parties on amazon that make charging the 1st gen Apple Pencil way easier
I have the usbc and I just charge it with my iPhone 15 charger .
Buy the iPad Pro 11" 3rd Gen for 350 used and you got the best deal:
-M1 Chip for Apple Intelligence and iOS 18
-Normal and Ultrawide Camera
-LiDAR sensor
-Crazy ass mics and speakers
-FaceID
-Pen 2 and Smart Folio Keyboard Support
Best choice rn, buy before iOS 18 is out, cos prices will boom.
At a cost with a dreadful battery
what u talkin bout, Im using it all day, battery is at over 10k mAh, runs 8h a day
Also consider the option of buying an iPad through a cell phone carrier: Two weeks ago, I purchased my new iPad Air 13” M2 for $40/month (+$20 cell service). However, they currently offer a $30/month discount off my internet service plan when I buy an iPad. So all in all, I pay $30/month for the cellular-enabled iPad Air 13. Just an option.
What carrier has that deal, I got my Pro M4 13 inch from AT&T and they gave me $100 off

Likely iPad Pro 11” 256gb instead of iPad 10th gen.

Do you feel like it allows enough room for writing? Position wise almost like a notebook.
@@micaylahloebig4874 I feel like it does, and I like it better than writing in spiral notebooks as I'm a right handed so when I write on the back of the page my hand is always on the spiral and it gets uncomfortable after a while. @@theemeralddj1 thank you I’m a right handed person too so I can relate to the hand cramping come the second page especially in college, knowing that’s 2 out of 77 pages of notes. I decided to make the purchase!
I went all out this time. Got the iPad Pro 13 with the keyboard case and pencil. Yes it’s overkill but YOLO

Yep exactly
It’s almost like.. if I’m not going to spend $1,000 on an iPad Pro with Pro Motion, then I don’t want one at all. Because spending $600 to deal with 60Hz doesn’t make sense.
Real
Ipads pro sell for 700 to 800 now, thinking about it
I would avoid the base iPad because it doesn't have the longevity of the Air and Pro models. I know many people that still use the first or second gen iPad Pro without any problems while the standard iPad from those times are almost unusable.
I would recommend the Air and if you want the few extra features of the pro (promotion, faceid, oled screen, better speakers) then go for the pro but its absolutely not necessary.
The production went into making this video is insane! Nice edits ❤🎉
The screen does feel plastic. I’m going to get a screen protector to see if that fixes it
I have an 11 M2 iPad i absolutely love it!!!! I was thinking about getting the 13 inch air. I agree with everything you’ve said Tom, another great video bro.

Bro can u help me. I am also confused between the 11 inch and 13 inch of m2 ipad air. Pls help. I am a student

Refreshing to see someone not just recommend the most expensive. This video really helped, thanks!
Number 1 is iPad Air 11 since it will be the best seller iPad this 2024 I reckon.

120hrz and tandem OLED from Pro aren’t that of a big deal for me. It’s the storage! It supports the new pencil Pro as well. Never considering keyboard as I have a Macbook. With Air 13, I’m sitting right next to the king, Pro. Safely.

17:16 I don’t have deep pockets but I’m thinking longevity as whatever I’ll be getting in the end will be replacing an air 2 so about 16 to 20 years old, yes my iPad is old enough to start it own family (but still not old enough to drink at its own wedding, the US has so really silly laws) the screen is literally flapping in the breeze so it’s time to get a new one but I’m not sold on what tablet iOS or Android.

anything above 11 inch is a pain to have to continuously hole in your hand, sure you can get a cover etc but the big screen Ipads or tablets in general can't do anything better than a 4K laptop with OLED and you can sit it on your lap, adjust the screen without having to hold it.
