Thank for giving a fair and balanced review. You're right it's not for everyone, it's not a PS6, but there is a noticeable difference - one that I am happy to buy. My PC costs way way more than the PS5 Pro and has a similar level of graphics (raster and ray tracing performance). Unlike Linus tech tips review who claimed there was not difference. They happily promote people upgrading their graphics cards for $500-700 dollars for a 30% increase in performance. Yet with their extreme bias, they claimed PS5 Pro barely had a difference - even though it's certainly way more than 30%.
If the ps5 pro is better than your pc? You have a potato😂😂😂😂 boy! My pc is 3 and half years old and blows the ps5 pro out the water. You still can't play all games at 60 with hi graphics. He just showed you the pro is still 30 and 40 in a lot of games. My 3 year old pc can play every game I own at 4k, 165 fps and beyond. Stop the cap😂 the pro is a waste of money though i wouldn't hate on anybody that wants one. I would still buy one because I like consoles, but no rush for me.
@erickpenaloza1 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i guess you've played and seen my pc specs !?👍 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 i guess that you didn't get them memo that a console is always a few years behind pc. To add to that fact, pc has way more overhead than a console that pushes it past its threshold plus, u can upgrade it. A console is capped and customized to run lower than pc on every level. You should go to computer classes. If u think the ps5 pro is more powerful than even a 3 year old pc? U need to get of planet earth.

I’m so happy you like it. I have a question though. I don’t have a PS5 yet and I was thinking about getting the Pro…..HOWEVER….my old TV doesn’t support 120 Hz or have variable refresh. Would that mean I pretty much won’t reap any of the benefits the Pro offers unless I buy a new TV?
@@-Stinky_Pinky Well, I really recommend a state of the art TV for PS5 (Pro). My 65“ LG C1 can handle the current gen consoles pretty well. I‘ll get a new TV for the PS6.
@@andreaswoehler26 Thank you. I think my options are clear then. Either buy a new TV and then get the Pro or if I don’t get a new TV then for sure save the money and just get the base PS5. Appreciate the feedback.
@@brotherhoodofsteel3090 Exactly, & at this point I'm starting to get upset with companies keeping things exclusive. I mean I get it but like non of this DEF doesn't matter, might as well allow people to play the game the best way it can be played, being pc. They're likely to release it on pc eventually anyway. @@brotherhoodofsteel3090Ps5 Pro have booth? 4K 60 FPS. Its only if you want MORE then its 30Fps again but with 4K RayTracing. Try to play 4K with Full RayTracing and Ultra Textures in Alan Wake 2 with over 60 FPS. Without to pay 2000 Dollars for a Graphic Card you will Not reach it. And RayTracing is Not Important for me. 4K 60Fps is now the standart for Ps5 Pro
Well, I’ll stick with my PS5. You see, I have an OLED 120Hz Variable Refresh Rate TV with my setup, so I always play games at that 40fps as much as possible. The difference in graphics is just negligible. If you have a PS5 and are considering upgrading to the PS5 Pro, I suggest you first upgrade your TV. Going from an old TV to a OLED with 120Hz and VRR enabled will give you a much bigger visual jump than what the PS5 Pro will provide you with.
@RandCarlton I also have a a c2 and I can definitely see a difference in ps4 games. The resolution upscale is noticeable to me. I also tried ragnorok and horizon remastered and they do look excellent but not night and day.
8:22 "Background details and textures are much sharper". Are we looking at the same image? The building in the background is much fuzzier on the Pro compared to the base PS5. I definitely have buyers remorse.
@@brightblackgrouse6236 Based on my testing, I see similar results depending on the game. Alan Wake 2 has similar results, as digital foundry pointed out. Ratchet and clank in my testing also has similar results. My understanding is that many of these developers are reducing the internal resolution and feeding this into PSSR to generate an AI upscaled image back to higher res. They are reducing the internal resolution to provide the additional headroom to crank up ray tracing effects while maintaining 60 fps. The OG Quality mode on ratchet and clank looks sharper to me than the Fidelity Pro mode on the Pro because the OG mode can reach native 4K. The Fidelity Pro mode uses PSSR to upscale a lower internal resolution to 4k. Nothing will match native 4K in sharpness and detail. So it becomes a tradeoff. In short, PS5 Pro reduces output resolution to gain additional graphical features and increased frame rate. You still don't get both, unlike what Sony's marketing touted at first. Maybe newer games in the pipeline designed with the Pro in mind will make less compromises in their Pro modes when they release.
@@brightblackgrouse6236 apparently UA-cam or the original poster deleted my comment, so I will type it again but in less detail because it was a long post. Long story short, many games are fuzzier when using PSSR. You are taking a sub-4k image and using AI to upscale it. PSSR cannot match native 4K, at least not this version. When I compare ratchet and clank on my PS5 pro to my PS5, I see the same results in this video. The Fidelity mode on the OG PS5 is sharper than the Fidelity Pro mode on the Pro because the OG PS5 mode can reach native 4k. Other games like Alan Wake 2 have the same issue where PSSR is fuzzier. Look at the Digital Foundry coverage for that. PS5 Pro reduces internal resolution to leave enough headroom for bumping up graphic options like ray tracing and frame rate and then uses PSSR to get back to an inferior 4K. I probably will be returning my Pro. Today's games don't justify the purchase. Maybe when new games come out that are designed with the Pro in mind will I buy it again.
Thankfully they’re already discounted to £660 in most stores in the uk and the scalpers are having to sell them at a loss on eBay, so you can at least get them for ‘cheaper’.
After watching a few of these ps5 v ps5 pro comparisons, the only real difference I notice is the colours seem to pop a bit better on the pro. Most of the graphic details that are pointed out are always zoomed in on and I very much doubt would be noticeable when playing games ( especially if you’re into the game) and that’ll become less noticeable within hours of using . I’d personally wait for it to drop in price or have “ included disk drive deals” or just wait for the ps6
Most of those UA-camrs are doing the comparison wrong. The selling point is that you're getting both the FPS and image quality at the same time. And also a lot of those reviews are from PC enthusiasm channels. You already know how that's gonna go...🤷♂️
@@MorbydManic The ps5 pro is still a 60fps console for the most part so that doesn't even matter. I'm personally 100% satisfied with 60fps. I'm definitely buying a pc instead of this pro though.

I have a media room where I sit 8 feet from a 77” OLED and a 100” projection screen with a 4K JVC projector. A friend (who always must have the best and latest) brought over the PS5 Pro and from regular seating distance, other than extra confetti in Ratchet and Clank and shinier buildings in Spider Man 2, I could not see any obvious difference. As others have posted, I was playing Where’s Waldo? via pixel peeping from a foot away to spot any noticeable improvement. The problem is even after four years, the regular base PS5 has not been maxed out yet and the PS5 Pro is $700 solution in search of a problem.
The PS5 Pro should only be for users that do not own a PS5 yet. There is no point in upgrading from a PS5 to a PS5 Pro. You are better off waiting for the PS6 which should have way more upgrades.
@@tgreg9542yep yet these people commenting that it’s not worth . Tell that to my lazy ass that finally crawled out of the mancave playing games on my lg G4 . Nah there’s no difference 😂
To those in comments. Dont lie to yourself to feel better. I own the PS5 Pro. Lots of games on the Pro console run and look better without a patch. This is a fact. The problem is the og PS5 exists and has a lower price. So it may not be worth it for the casual/budget gamer. I will say this for me at least, it adds a little bit of extra joy.
@@lordspalse0062 it's a similar question like why people buy 4090 or iPhone Pro Max. Price-value is diminishing returns. Price hike is bigger than value growth. But I still bought a PS5 Pro, cause base PS5 wasn't good enough for a 4K OLED. Objectively, I was expecting 500-600 euro price (600 with disc drive). 800 euro is 300 too much. It's as unreasonably overpriced as current GPUs. I'm not a buyer for current Nvidia GPUs, they are too overpriced (and deliberately memory cut, if not a xx90 model). That's why I went PS5. But I'm really waiting for 8800XT from AMD beginning next year.
I got one and Rebirth is such a beautiful game on it! It's one of the games that sees the most of an Enhanced mode, and I hope to see more games in the future take more of the 60fps+increased resolution route going forward. It also feels much quieter than my base PS5 that I came from. Obviously not for everyone, but I'm extremely happy with it.
I'm confused why some UA-cam reviewers are focused more on visual improvements instead of the most important improvement of all: playable framerates, judder elimination, and VRR. The resolution improvements are nice, but the performance improvements are even better. So many UE5 games are unplayable on the PS5 without significant visual downgrades. Remnant II's performance mode renders at 768p and upscales that to 1080p. Dragon's Dogma II and Metaphor are virtually unplayable despite dynamic resolution dropping down to very pixelated and jagged edges. Frame pacing is significantly improved on the Pro, as games are finally able to reach the minimum framerate for VRR.
Metaphor has no reason to run piss poor on base ps5 😂the game looks like a ps3 game and not exactly demanding, this is just devs being lazy because they already have their massive fan base and reputation to even need to make more effort
@hammygaming8278 We're going to see more and more games that are as badly optimized as this. We live in tough times right now with all the industry layoffs. Most studios are looking to cut corners, and using UE5 with Nanite meshes is easier than manually creating LOD models.
Agree, for consoles at least the framerates should be the main thing. I don't think it's possible to get high grapical performance with framerate on these devices. They're simply not powerful enough.
I just got the PS5 Pro and a new 4k 120hz tv. I had a pc but after years of upgrading , constantly updating divers etc i got a console and never looked back. I think newer game releases with make use of the extra power of the pro.
(In UK) PS5 slim disk bundled with 3 games + extra controller + COD black ops 6 comes in at just under £700 (£698) you could even swap out a few things for a TB extra
but if a game currently runs on ps5 at 60fps, what improvements could there be with the ps5 pro? I, as an ignoramus, would say no improvement if the game in question has not received a specific patch for ps5 pro.
There aren't any UE5 games running natively at 60 FPS. At least not without significant visual downgrades. Remnant II renders at 768p instead of 1080p. Dragon's Dogma II doesn't even sustain 30. Metaphor is virtually unplayable. So games either finally become playable with a minimum framerate within the VRR limit, or they have significant visual improvements if given Pro patches. I can't think of any AA games that run at 60 FPS. They always come with a Performance mode since the PS5 isn't capable of Quality.
@@mmstick So all those who say there are no differences, or they are absolutely imperceptible, are lying? I mean if a person owns a standard ps5, is it worth switching to the "pro" model, or is it money thrown down the toilet?
@LucaCardini I own both and the upgrade was very noticeable on my 4K TV. Most people are seeing a huge improvement. Especially in framerates and frame pacing. Games with Pro patches are getting the significantly sharper visuals. I'm guessing the few people who don't see a difference don't actually play many games on PS5. Wulff Den, for example, admitted he only had a smaller 1080p TV connected to his Playstation, with only a few PS5 games. None of which were particularly demanding. There are many other reviewers who have done proper reviews with a lot of different games, including Digital Foundry. I happen to own most of the better UE5 and PSVR2 games released on PS5, and each of them now has either much improved visuals, or better framerates. Vertigo 2 on VR2 is finally playable without the constant frame stutter. Similar for Metaphor, Dragon's Dogma II, Ghostwire, and most UE5 games. UE5 games like Remnant and Lords of the Fallen are no longer a blurry mess, and games issuing PSSR look significantly better. If you play any VR or UE5 games, then the Pro is worth it. It should only continue to be worth it as more games release supporting PSSR. It's also worth it if you have any PS4 games that didn't get Pro patches. The GPU in the PS5 Pro is using AI upscaling on 1080p PS4 games. Games that required Performance to be playable are now playable on the Quality mode. Though some games set a 30 FPS cap and need Pro patches to replace the old Performance mode with an uncapped Quality mode.
nope. Alan Wake 2 looks significantly better than on the base model. Same with Veilguard. Performance mode on the pro makes performance mode on the base model look like ass.
When you pay $700 for an "Pro", now, at this current moment, you'd at least expect that most games come with improvements, be it graphical or frame rate ... but from what i have seen so far, is that it is mostly random. Some games have improvements, some dont. Some improvements can be observed, some cant ... at least to the human eye. (And no, i am not gonna sit a feet away from my screen with a magnifying glass to look for minor differences) So, why am i laying $700 again? For like 4 or 5 games? Would make more sense to wait untill more games come out, like GTA 6, for example.
That is exactly what I'm going to do. Wait until the end of next year, probably with hundreds of games improved with a better and updated version of PSSR. No rush, wait for GTA 6 and plenty of other games. My backlog is booming.
As a PC owner, nothing is more pitiful to me than PC dudes bashing the PS5 Pro, #1 we do not use disk drives in most PC these days to play games. #2 I hate how much they are trying to convince gamers that a $700 PC is a better gaming device than the Pro. #3 HOW ARE PC GAMERS complaining bout incremental improvements when they have to do that very thing every 2 to 3 years to get the most from their RIG! #4 "The PC does more than the PS5 Pro" I think if PC gamers have not realised, the Pro is focused on gaming, and not a damn Adobe or MS word utility. Then they should stop gaming and begin learning to use common sense online.
He’s making a good point though. A games console is a games console and a pc is a pc. If you want a games console for your living room typically, go for it. If you want to spec out your pc for the best possible gaming experience go for it. No need to whine about how much better everything is on pc. 🤣
Imagine paying online service fee for playing online , what a pity. On the other hand A pc can be upgraded, customized, can be used for many other things like editing, programming, etc... And pc games are a lot cheaper and supports modding. And it can also support captain jack sparrow versions. So don't say 700$ for ps5 , adding online monthly fees and game fees will come more than 1000$.and viola, you can play now in capped 60 fps, LoL

Not something I would have expected you to mention, but the campaign in Jedi Survivor is broken on PS5 Pro. There are several sections where software bugs prevent you from progressing. I ran into one about 20ish hours into my play through. I started this game when it launched but put it down due to performance issues, thats what saved me from hitting progression bugs earlier in the campaign
I’m getting one soon but I don’t have a PS5 just yet. I’ve been holding on for enough games I’m interested to justify going into this generation (thus far, Switch and Steam Deck have been my great companions). You know what would be great? If there was a standard and devs could go higher if they want. No performance options. For example, every game must be a stable 60 fps. Can you do ray tracing on top of that? Good. You can't? That's ok.

I upgraded from a ps4 to ps4 pro. I did not decide to upgrade this time around: 1. For the price, I would have expected a disc drive. 2. I have a high end PC, so the only reason for PS is for its exclusives. There's barely any nowadays and I can wait for the ports to come over to the PC.
4:00 Alan wake 2 is definitely very far from "solid 60 fps" on the pro. It actually runs worse than the base ps5 lol. This sounds more like reading the patch notes rather than actually testing this.
not that I’m getting one, but I’m glad they still have these options, as in most games, 60fps gets me a little dizzy, so I’ll pick a good 30fps any day!
Brand new gamers be like. I need to get ps5 pro & a 4K oled 60fps tv that’s spec for gaming & gta 6 and a year of online subscription. Total cost? Your daughter’s V card!
If you have the base PS5 but not a display that allows 120hz/VRR, upgrade your display before considering the Pro. It will satisfy the itch for that “upgraded experience” a little longer. Probably long enough to wait for the PS6 lol
As an old fps gamer from the old days , it looks good in a lot of ways , but ….. having no disk drive , and having to pay extra for the base seems like a big fail to me , if it was a cheap device that would be different, but it is not. And looking at the running frame rates of some games that are very low , that would be unacceptable in my book given this is supposed to be a dedicated gaming machine. I think I’d rather buy a pc with the bells and whistles that matter even if it’s a few bucks more.
I have the PS5 Pro. I was playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but stopped to experience the rest of it on the PS5 Pro. I started playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the PS5 Pro last night.
So many people are hating on the ps5 pro I get it but they acting like its the exact same machine for 200 dollars more. As a ps4 user I did an upgrade to the pro so i can actually last with it. I played with my friend who had a normal ps5 and I can tell you it felt better on the pro but not in the "wow" kind of thing since we didnt play any games that were graphically heavy or ps5pro enhanced. Am happy with my upgrade but I do think no stand and disk drive is ridiculous.
I was with you til the end of the video where you said "no way you could build a similar priced pc. Walmart has an $800 prebuilt cyber power that runs quite a bit better in 1080, better in 1440, and similar in 4k. That $800 prebuilt could be built for $740ish. Even just buying the prebuilt at $800... yearly membership to PSN plus the cost of ps5 pro... you're already there. The no disc drive is a little annoying but what gaming pcs have a disc drive either these days? The most annoying thing to me, is that they couldn't even include a STAND.
If there was a buy back like turning in a iPhone 5 for iPhone 6 maybe, but I doubt most won't miss the visual we'll never see. My og has a stand & drive packed in. I'm ok.
I didn't know it included Wi-Fi 7. Adding 2 TB of storage, drastically improved GPU (62.5% improvement), and WI-FI 7 I can see it being tempting for those that just want to plug & play. I still wouldn't get it. For light gamers like me, the slim PS5 and Xbox Series S provide better value for that crowd. No need to FPS chase when you are not that serious about it. For hard core competitive gamers, building a gaming PC is better for an extra $200. Also, the gaming desktop PC is modular. Motherboards, CPUs, and GPUs can be replaced.
Last of Us, Dead Island 2, and Crew Motorfest looks really good on the Pro + oled tv (not YT), best stuff ive ever seen, makes me wana finish the enhanced games
Looking at these prices glad i sold my PS5 and got a PC for my tv , with 95% of the games on PC consoles are losing their selling points. My PC will likely still be competitive with a PS6.
And even if it isn't, you can then just upgrade some of the components. PS6 willl probably be like £600 for a disc "free" version, £100 for a disc drive, £60 for annual online, £40 for a stand etc.
When it comes to having to show side my side comparisons to justify the cost of the pro then there really is minimal difference. Doubling frame rates to 60fps is great but it is on existing titles you have probably already played ? Lets not forget sony sold us the PS5 on the basis of 4K 120fps and alot people bought expensive HDMI 2.1 compliant tv/monitor just for that. Yes GT7 is great and a few other games but sony have now ditched that with their new PRO. Far from me to tell others what to spend their money on but for me console gaming has peaked ! The PS6 will all be about 8K and 30fps then the PS6 PRO 8K 60fps and so it goes on! Thanks for a great video , you've convinced me to stick with what i have a PS4 slim as i was only going to get a PS5 or pro once there were plenty of 4K 120fps games to justify me spending extra money on a new monitor which there isn't and unlikely will be and as for the ps5 pro doing 8k that was a sony tech demo which means they won't get sued for misrepresentation.
Having the PS5 Pro and coming from the PC Gaming Universe, i have to say, it's totally worth it. Before i was always somewhat in between Quality and Performance... 30FPS is (for me) completely outdated and unbearable. So i ended up always with the performance mode. Now to have the performance (or even better performance) combined with the quality mode of the base PS5 in most of the games, is pure joy. Even if a game isn't officially pro patched, you will get a boost in fps.
Hilarious they've removed the 8k from the PS5 Pro box but it remains on the base PS5 box. Side by side on the shelf the pro will look inferior to the base model to the uninitiated.
To understand the Pro Enhance.. The Quality Setting on Base Ps5 is the Performance Mode of the PS5 Pro, Making the Quality Setting more details than the Quality on base Ps5.
I think the games that are enhance already had 30/60 fps options so it makes sense to upgrade both. I’m thinking going forward with games developed for the ps5 pro will maybe just have the single option

If you have a PS5 and are considering upgrading to the PS5 Pro, I suggest you first upgrade your TV. Going from an old TV to a OLED with 120Hz and VRR enabled will give you a much bigger visual jump than what the PS5 Pro will provide you with.

I definitely have buyers remorse.
Maybe he accidentally swapped the images?
@@brightblackgrouse6236It probably has something to do with PSSR
We are watching this from UA-cam which reduces the quality dramatically so ot would be very hard for any of us to make an accurate assertion
That's gold
After watching a few of these ps5 v ps5 pro comparisons, the only real difference I notice is the colours seem to pop a bit better on the pro. Most of the graphic details that are pointed out are always zoomed in on and I very much doubt would be noticeable when playing games ( especially if you’re into the game) and that’ll become less noticeable within hours of using . I’d personally wait for it to drop in price or have “ included disk drive deals” or just wait for the ps6
The colors are no different. The bandwidth has not changed from the regular to the pro. The color will entirely depend on your tv and its settings.
Most of those UA-camrs are doing the comparison wrong. The selling point is that you're getting both the FPS and image quality at the same time.
And also a lot of those reviews are from PC enthusiasm channels. You already know how that's gonna go...🤷♂️

Have yall even tried Dragons dogma 2 on ps5? You can get 120hz so what are yall on about ?

(In UK) PS5 slim disk bundled with 3 games + extra controller + COD black ops 6 comes in at just under £700 (£698) you could even swap out a few things for a TB extra
Next week my GameStop has a double trade in bonus. Normal trade for my slim is $250. Would it be worth paying the difference?
$500 off a Pro with a trade-in? Yes, that would be worth it!
What GameStop is that? I need to come to that one!
@ that comment was a month ago. It was right before Christmas
but if a game currently runs on ps5 at 60fps, what improvements could there be with the ps5 pro?

When you pay $700 for an "Pro", now, at this current moment, you'd at least expect that most games come with improvements, be it graphical or frame rate ... but from what i have seen so far, is that it is mostly random.
Yeah PC owner, more like a cheap ass laptop.
Tell me you don't have a high end PC without telling me you don't have one.

I have the PS5 Pro. I was playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but stopped to experience the rest of it on the PS5 Pro. I started playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the PS5 Pro last night.
i have a gaming pc but i want to play gta 6 which should i get ps5 or ps5 pro😭
Unfortunately, I won't be able to pick it up. I don't have the money, so I'll wait for the PS6.🙌
Trade it in & pay lesser
Get a job
Best video yet that truly shows the differences, which, are not worth the extra money (at least not for me). Thanks for making!
Thanks for that! Was tricky to make so glad it helped.
For that price, I expect night and day differences.
I feel like you’re a little late to the party bringing this out but the production quality on it is really high and presented well, bravo 👏
Well the exclusives come in 2025
When it comes to having to show side my side comparisons to justify the cost of the pro then there really is minimal difference.
They had to for legal reasons, I believe. I imagine they'll phase out the old boxes on the Slim soon enough, once they've sold through current stock.
I will be upgrading to the ps5 pro for Christmas because i am still rocking the og ps4 so it will be a huge upgrade for me at least
I glad that you finally afford one by UA-cam money
To understand the Pro Enhance.. The Quality Setting on Base Ps5 is the Performance Mode of the PS5 Pro, Making the Quality Setting more details than the Quality on base Ps5.
Yes that's roughly the case (though it does vary a bit between games)
I think the games that are enhance already had 30/60 fps options so it makes sense to upgrade both. I’m thinking going forward with games developed for the ps5 pro will maybe just have the single option
What about Astrobot??
Na premierę kupiłem ps4 pro i miałem dwie gry na płycie. Kupiłem Horizon Zero Dawn i pożyczyłem Batmana.
I have a Tv that’s fully loaded that has VRR all Modes listed sticking with my regular PS5 yes if I upgrade to the pro I’ll be able to see a lot of upgrades but I already have a disc drive and my PS5 looks amazing with a fully loaded TV
Btw best review I saw so far outside of DF
