I tried carnivore in 2021 for 60 days and I got heartburn so bad I couldn't take it anymore, and went back to keto. No more heartburn. BUT...slowly but surely my joint pain increased a thousandfold. The divine providence guided me to Sally K Norton and I read on her book Toxic Foods how overloaded in oxalates was my diet. I slowly went away from oxalate veggies but still was very inflamed. Then I watched your conversation with Sally... and I decided to try carnivore again. Heartburn right away. On an interview of that young Australian fellow carnivore of yours to Dr Bright in Italy, I learnt that I might benefit from taking ACV prior to eating, but definetely needed to UP THE FAT. That did the trick. No more heartburn.

Just want to say I have been carnivore for 3.5 months and down 17 lbs. My blood pressure is greatly improved and I have more energy.
However, I think it is important to note that the weight DOESN'T just fall off. While some folks say they lost 100lbs in like one month sounds great, that is not the norm. Would love that to be my story, but it is not. I am 77 yrs old with a very young mind and will continue this life style change because I feel better and have a lot more life to live. I still work full time, and enjoy my yard and my friends. The scale might be moving slowly but my health has picked up quickly. It's a good thing!

I agree with you. I am in my late 50's and back on carnivore for good this time. I am struggling more to loose the weight but my focus now is more of healing from all my autoimmunes as well as giving myself grace for all the years I was poisoning myself and binge eating.

In regards to kidney health and carnivore diet, I need to watch doctors on UA-cam and translate the information for my dogs because if there is a carnivore veterinarian on UA-cam, I haven’t discovered him. 6 years ago my dog was sick from Leptospirosis and needed dialysis. She was given a 20% chance of survival and I was told her kidneys would never gain full function. I had to walk her outside the dialysis vet clinic to feed her because they would not allow the fresh food I fed her into the clinic for fear the pathogens would sicken their staff. I was the only client at that clinic up to that point who had defied their nutritional advice. Not only did she survive the highest titer of any dog in the state of Oregon, but she gained full function of her kidneys and is phenomenally healthy and active at over 10 years old. A month after her recovery, the Oregon CDC drew blood to try to figure out why she survived.
For anyone who questions my anecdote, the reason dogs are used in research is because they are physiologically similar to people. Successful medical procedures on people are adopted in animal medicine and vice versa.

My husbands hypertension blood pressure off medications was crazy high 190/95. Two weeks in 120/60 . We are now four weeks 125/60 off meds and my ibs has settled amazingly as has my gerd. He was diagnosed pre diabetic and slightly low kidney function and gets tested in three months again. Thanks so much for this information. We are 74 and 76 respectively .

I buy tallow and lard from Amazon around $40-50 per seven pound tub, I use both for everything along with butter. I have been eating carnivore five months, got rid of 20 lbs fat, now 5'8" 164 lbs 72 yo male. I eat beef, rabbit that I raise, egg yolks, beef liver, deer meat along with its liver and heart. If anyone has never tried heart make yourself try it, really good! Do not overcook the liver, I make it into pate.

About B12 supplements, to whom it may concern, and below that a tip about supplementing stomach acid:
Regular medicine for elderly and also people with B12 deficiency is giving intramuscular injections with hydroxocobalamin (cobalamin is B12). A B12 deficiency means having no 'intrinsic factor' in their stomach fluid, needed to make B12 from their food ready for intestinal absorbtion. I am B12 deficient and took those injections for over two years (some 12 years ago) and needed an insane frequency of injections (at first daily or every other day) to feel the benefits from it just a little. I found out the two reasons why. 1) My body also has trouble to perform turning hydroxocobalamine into the two forms of cobalamine you actually can and do absorb: adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin. 2) Nobody in regular medicine thought of prescribing folic acid as well. Folic acid is B11 and you need that along with B12, sort of in the same way you need to supplement vitamine K2 alongside vitamine D3.
Since then I found a supplier here in the Netherlands for B12 lozenges, one type with 3000 mcg methylcobalamin and one type with 3000 mcg adenosylcobalamin, each also containing 200 mcg folic acid (B11). They are meant to be combined and the dosage is for maintenance. They sell also higher dosages for immediate ending of deficits that lasted for years. Once a day, between meals you put one of each type under your tongue and let them melt. Absorbtion is immediate into your blood through your saliva connection with the bloodstream, bypassing stomach and bowels.
Just like D3 also B12 supplements are very inexpensive, very cheap compared to other medications or supplements, and it makes a huge difference in your health and quality of life, even for me as a heatlhy happy carnivore, because I cannot absorb any B12 from food.
Maybe if needed you can order from the Netherlands at www.vitamineb12nu.nl but other companies sell it too. But ... beware of them not delivering it in containers with loose tablets in it. B12 is highly susceptable to water and moist and will dissolve and become an unusable clumb. The lozenges must be individually packaged in blister packs.
    Other tip you may value:
I use 1 capsule of Betaine Hcl 648 mg (Hcl is hydrochloric acid or stomach acid) per serving of 300-500 grams of meat to help me digest. When you age your stomach produces less acid. If your stomach does not get acidic enough, food will not pass on timely to the small intestine, stay in your stomach too long, keep you unsatiated, but worst of all will cause acid reflux because your stomach wants to get rid of its content, one way or the other. I buy it from the brand NOW and also that is not expensive.
    Have a happy, healthy life!

Doing carnivore, day 23. Tried it last October-December, failed then because of cheese. Made me go back to binge eating. This time no cheese. In the meantime I kept listening and learning about the diet, and I feel better than the first time I did it. I was so insecure, afraid of eating too much or not enough, I didn’t understand my hunger signals.

I think one of the most dangerous things we have is that people are under educated while being over opinionated. Very few people go and read the research or even short articles. They rely upon short videos or limited characters to provide them with insight upon which they create an entire world view. it takes a major period shift, sadly, most often a tragedy to get us to change our views.

That said, after my first 30 days, I did reintroduce coffee because it would not make that much of a difference, right??? The first day I had coffee I felt like I had fallen down a flight of stairs! It took me almost 3 weeks after that coffee 'experiment' to just start to feel relief again.

I noticed the decline in inflammation in my hands only a day or two after I cut sugar, gluten and plant matter. Not an everyday coffee person, but I did heavily drink tea. It didn’t affect my joints, but halting tea did allow my brain to heal enough to bring back dreams, which I never knew would be possible. - fairly certain that was due to an astonishing amount of fluoride in the leaves! 🥺

Hi Dr Chaffee. Protein is 4 kcal per g, not 3. The same for carbohydrates. It might be alcohol which is 3 kcal per gramme?

    • @anthonychaffeemd
      @anthonychaffeemd  7 місяців тому +4

Alcohol is I think 7kcal/gram. What I was referring to there is that when you metabolize protein for energy you actually lose some, as it costs energy to process the protein to then use it as energy. So, you end up getting about 3.4kcal/g for protein. I then make the example that calories don't weigh anything, it's grams that weigh something, and so you get much more energy per unit of weight by eating fat then protein, and certainly carbs, because you have one gram of fat for every 9kcals, but you have to take in 2.2 grams per 9kcals for carbohydrates, and since you lose a bit for the protein it ends up being 3 g of protein for every 9kcals.

No you don't have to be cautious starting a carnivore diet, just be aware that for many people you are requirement for a blood pressure medications may go down, so if you start getting light-headed, especially when you stand up from sitting, check your blood pressure and if you're getting lower readings then talk to your doctor about coming down off your blood pressure medication. All animals are optimal, imo. The key here is how the animal is raised. What was their life like? What did they eat? What medical program were they on? etc. Goats are usually given ungodly amounts of chemicals because they've become very resistant to the anti-parasitic drugs. Not to rag on the farmers who raise our food, but there is a tendency to just stick the animals with excessive amounts of these chemicals and let them eat everything to the bare ground.
You will eat the nutrients that the animals has eaten. So if the animal (be it cow, pork, chicken, lamb, goat, rabbit, etc) is raised on a multicrop pasture and given time to run, and then be slaughtered in quick, sanitary conditions, then I think you will benefit more than done otherwise.

Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet.Sorry fo i alredy posted before but i dont know what to do :
I am now over 135 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else 400-500 g of cocked meat plus 7-8 eggs in a day. All Divided in 2 meals) I am now 35 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-22%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.(lift weigths to help sustain or increase muscle mass and assist fat loss)
I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition. I was a HEALHTY guy with NO chronic illnesses or health problems.
I lost about 17 lbs in the first 6 weeks (Mostly water) but since then I haven't been able to change my body composition. I have now gone more than 6 weeks without registering any body changes (weight loss, decrease in BF% or measurements). In fact i have gained 2,5 lbs in the last 3 weeks but might be just water.
I still need to lose at least another 15lbs of fat to reach my goal of being below 15%BF. However, I don't see how the Carnivora Diet will facilitate this process. I have not experienced most of the benefits common to Carnivores (Improved sleep, more energy/disposition, etc.) nor can I change my body composition.
So I would like to ask more experienced Carnivores:
1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnviroa diet to be able to lose the excess bodyfat I still have?(at least 15lbs of fat)
2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you?
3-Is the Carnivore diet effective for those who are aldreay healthy and just need to improve body composition?
I am affraid this way of eating is too restrictive, for a healthy person, with no aditional benefit from any other whole food diet.
PS: Most of my time as a CArnivre i have not experience most Carnivore benefits or lost any body fat
    Thank you for your attention!

Possibly cut out the eggs and increase the red meat and go “lion”. See if that makes a difference. Assuming you’re just using salt and no seasonings or oils, of course. Maybe stop focusing on portioning your meals and just eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re comfortably stuffed and/or the meal stops tasing good.
As far as the gym, look into cutting out long state cardio (jogging, cycling, cardio equipment) and simply doing sprints. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Watched Mikhaila Peterson about the lion diet and thought I couldn't go that extreme but was willing to try Carnivore... and it's working, I haven't had a migraine since mid-February! I am also noticing other things, my energy is through the roof, and oddly starting to see a little better, nothing drastic but an improvement nonetheless... However I have a question, I had massive clots in my lungs and a leg a year after COVID hit Western Australia and was told I have Factor V Leiden, what would you expect the effect this diet will have on this, will I have to check regularly for clots? Or maybe no difference at all?

Good advice ofcourse, to the husband for his wife healing from Crohn's disease on carnivore diet, to go for the most elementary form of just beef, salt and water. I started carnivore diet almost eight months ago and only recently began to lose weight (I am 61), slowly, but certainly. But I regained my health and strength and also got in better shape to the eye. I needed the first months to adept to carnivore and also to figure out what I thrive on. I don't really like eggs, dairy slowed my metablism and bloated me, and pork just didn't satiate me. I do best on ground beef, ribeyes, occasionally some liver/heart and some fatty fish. I trust my body so much more now, and I just notice what does what. It's a process. It takes time. The only thing I wouldn't let go off was black coffee... I turned to decaffeinated instant coffee and drink it pretty weak, two small cups in the morning, sometimes one in the evening. Maybe that would work for you too? Anyhow, trust the process, trust the carnivore diet healing power, and just hang in there!

I don't poop much either bcus humans have very long small intestine which absorbs all the meat so there is no waste. You poop a lot when you eat fiber bcus your body isn't designed to absorb fiber so it dumps it out of the body. It may take some time for your digestive system to adapt and dump out all the old plant bacteria and toxins.

Could someone please clarify, I understand the role of insulin whereby it signals to cells to uptake glucose in order to lower the blood glucose level. But is there another side of this equation ? I want to understand the other side of this ..... ie low blood sugar.
What are other roles of insulin ? Are there?
Does the body need insulin for cells to uptake glucose at all, will they starve without it?
What happens to a diabetic with low blood sugar if they don't eat, how low will the blood sugar go if they don't eat ? Is this dangerous? How can it be dangerous or even possible if the body manufacturers sugars through a separate biological pathway ie gluconeogenisis ? What about a body that is fat adapted to run on keytones.
I have tried to research this but everything that comes up is from the standard carb based medical viewpoint and doesn't make any sense. Thx

    • @lynnecobb9399
      @lynnecobb9399 7 місяців тому

There are a few cells in the body that cannot use ketones and must have glucose. But it's a very small amount. Your liver can make all the glucose your body requires without you having to eat any. In addition, if you let your body control how much glucose is in your blood, it will only make as much as it needs.

@@lynnecobb9399 So theoretically then if the body makes glucose in precisely the right amounts....and I believe that is the case.
Then a fat adapted type 1 diabetic that is on strict carnivore should have no need for insulin.
*The carnivore diet itself would ensure that there would not be any high glucose spikes requiring insulin to lower.
***And for the low glucose condition,The body would step in to keep the levels from getting too low. It sounds like even type1 diabeties could be fully controlled by diet, Am I missing something ?

@@terrysobkowich2084 not sure about type 1 diabetics who make no insulin at all, so they would still need a minimal amount of insulin to get the glucose their liver makes into the cell where it's needed.
