However, I think it is important to note that the weight DOESN'T just fall off. While some folks say they lost 100lbs in like one month sounds great, that is not the norm. In regards to kidney health and carnivore diet, I need to watch doctors on UA-cam and translate the information for my dogs because if there is a carnivore veterinarian on UA-cam, I haven’t discovered him. 6 years ago my dog was sick from Leptospirosis and needed dialysis. She was given a 20% chance of survival and I was told her kidneys would never gain full function. I had to walk her outside the dialysis vet clinic to feed her because they would not allow the fresh food I fed her into the clinic for fear the pathogens would sicken their staff. I was the only client at that clinic up to that point who had defied their nutritional advice. Not only did she survive the highest titer of any dog in the state of Oregon, but she gained full function of her kidneys and is phenomenally healthy and active at over 10 years old. A month after her recovery, the Oregon CDC drew blood to try to figure out why she survived. For anyone who questions my anecdote, the reason dogs are used in research is because they are physiologically similar to people. Successful medical procedures on people are adopted in animal medicine and vice versa.

Hi Patricia here Kelowna BC Canada , on the melatonin subject. Used it for a couple years but found it gave me weird disturbing dreams . Off it now and got myself and husband on carnivore . My husbands hypertension blood pressure off medications was crazy high 190/95. Two weeks in 120/60 . We are now four weeks 125/60 off meds and my ibs has settled amazingly as has my gerd. He was diagnosed pre diabetic and slightly low kidney function and gets tested in three months again. Thanks so much for this information. We are 74 and 76 respectively .

I got the same injury slipping on ice . 6 months on crutches for a ruptured ligament .I still have the titanium on my fibula .Joint Displacement is far worse than a clean bone break. I can't believe he waited till the next day before going to hospital ... I immediately phoned an ambulance !.
I tried and now use tallow on my face after shaving and on my scalp too, make sure to use enough on the hair and scalp but that will take a couple tries, it works perfectly! I buy tallow and lard from Amazon around $40-50 per seven pound tub, I use both for everything along with butter. I have been eating carnivore five months, got rid of 20 lbs fat, now 5'8" 164 lbs 72 yo male. I eat beef, rabbit that I raise, egg yolks, beef liver, deer meat along with its liver and heart. If anyone has never tried heart make yourself try it, really good! Do not overcook the liver, I make it into pate.
Incredibly helpful as usual, Dr Chaffee. Given steroids and other meds after injury accident. Carefully watched my health nutrition according to neurologist and PC. Lots of vegetables and only lean meat infrequently. Health nosedived for the worse. Happened upon you and Dr Berry and listened to awesome guests of both! Now 8 months into keto (10g carbs) and rest Carnivore and I’m healing, finally and feeling way better. Thank you so very much!!
About B12 supplements, to whom it may concern, and below that a tip about supplementing stomach acid: Regular medicine for elderly and also people with B12 deficiency is giving intramuscular injections with hydroxocobalamin (cobalamin is B12). A B12 deficiency means having no 'intrinsic factor' in their stomach fluid, needed to make B12 from their food ready for intestinal absorbtion. I am B12 deficient and took those injections for over two years (some 12 years ago) and needed an insane frequency of injections (at first daily or every other day) to feel the benefits from it just a little. I found out the two reasons why. 1) My body also has trouble to perform turning hydroxocobalamine into the two forms of cobalamine you actually can and do absorb: adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin. 2) Nobody in regular medicine thought of prescribing folic acid as well. Folic acid is B11 and you need that along with B12, sort of in the same way you need to supplement vitamine K2 alongside vitamine D3. Since then I found a supplier here in the Netherlands for B12 lozenges, one type with 3000 mcg methylcobalamin and one type with 3000 mcg adenosylcobalamin, each also containing 200 mcg folic acid (B11). They are meant to be combined and the dosage is for maintenance. They sell also higher dosages for immediate ending of deficits that lasted for years. Once a day, between meals you put one of each type under your tongue and let them melt. Absorbtion is immediate into your blood through your saliva connection with the bloodstream, bypassing stomach and bowels. Just like D3 also B12 supplements are very inexpensive, very cheap compared to other medications or supplements, and it makes a huge difference in your health and quality of life, even for me as a heatlhy happy carnivore, because I cannot absorb any B12 from food. Maybe if needed you can order from the Netherlands at www.vitamineb12nu.nl but other companies sell it too. But ... beware of them not delivering it in containers with loose tablets in it. B12 is highly susceptable to water and moist and will dissolve and become an unusable clumb. The lozenges must be individually packaged in blister packs. Other tip you may value: I use 1 capsule of Betaine Hcl 648 mg (Hcl is hydrochloric acid or stomach acid) per serving of 300-500 grams of meat to help me digest. When you age your stomach produces less acid. If your stomach does not get acidic enough, food will not pass on timely to the small intestine, stay in your stomach too long, keep you unsatiated, but worst of all will cause acid reflux because your stomach wants to get rid of its content, one way or the other. I buy it from the brand NOW and also that is not expensive. Have a happy, healthy life!
Doing carnivore, day 23. Tried it last October-December, failed then because of cheese. Made me go back to binge eating. This time no cheese. In the meantime I kept listening and learning about the diet, and I feel better than the first time I did it. I was so insecure, afraid of eating too much or not enough, I didn’t understand my hunger signals.
Hi Anthony I love your talk s I’m not full carnivore but the more meat I eat the better I feel. When I first heard you I could not believe what you said now I think you are amazing Thank you so much
@@balidayz I actually had a french press and I usually added half a table spoon of butter. French press supposedly increases trigs more than filter coffee. Now I'm totally caffeine free for about a month and feel much better. I have no more energy dips and feel less anxiety and stress during the day. Coffee also gave me some stomach burning occasionally.
I am confused as I did Carnivore for 18 months straight lost the weight I wanted.. (Very Very Happy). However, staying on it I started to put on weight… Now I eat what ever I crave and I have never been happier and still after 12 months have not put on any weight.. (I don’t crave sweets, chocolates) I am only talking Pizza, some vegetables like mashed or baked potatoes.. never have been able to go back to salads. But never felt better..
I think one of the most dangerous things we have is that people are under educated while being over opinionated. Very few people go and read the research or even short articles. They rely upon short videos or limited characters to provide them with insight upon which they create an entire world view. it takes a major period shift, sadly, most often a tragedy to get us to change our views.
Thank you for your work and sharing of knowledge, how long does it usually take for the pain in my joints to subside once I start the proper carnivore diet?
It can be different for all of us, but I first noticed relief at right around the 15 day mark. By day 30 I was able to walk unassisted. That said, after my first 30 days, I did reintroduce coffee because it would not make that much of a difference, right??? The first day I had coffee I felt like I had fallen down a flight of stairs! It took me almost 3 weeks after that coffee 'experiment' to just start to feel relief again.
I noticed the decline in inflammation in my hands only a day or two after I cut sugar, gluten and plant matter. Not an everyday coffee person, but I did heavily drink tea. It didn’t affect my joints, but halting tea did allow my brain to heal enough to bring back dreams, which I never knew would be possible. - fairly certain that was due to an astonishing amount of fluoride in the leaves! 🥺
It's different for different people, but many people find a lot of relief within the first few weeks when the plant talks and inflammation reduces significantly
@@anthonychaffeemd Dr Anthony thank you so so much for what you are doing for our health. I have one question - for someone with only 1 kidney the carnivore diet is recommended? My dad is diabetic, high blood pressure and only one kidney and the doctor told us that the meat/ protein is not good for kidney because can "become" kidney stone 🤷🏻♀️ Thank you very much 🙌💜
Thanks for the varicose question. I still get achy veins in my legs after six pregnancies and I've noticed they're at their worst when I consume a lot of carbs and before my period. Even with keto they tire more easily than on carnivore.
Alcohol is I think 7kcal/gram. What I was referring to there is that when you metabolize protein for energy you actually lose some, as it costs energy to process the protein to then use it as energy. So, you end up getting about 3.4kcal/g for protein. I then make the example that calories don't weigh anything, it's grams that weigh something, and so you get much more energy per unit of weight by eating fat then protein, and certainly carbs, because you have one gram of fat for every 9kcals, but you have to take in 2.2 grams per 9kcals for carbohydrates, and since you lose a bit for the protein it ends up being 3 g of protein for every 9kcals.
I have high blood pressure, should I be cautious starting carnivore diet? What do I have to look forward to? Hoping to get off high blood pressure medicine ? If my numbers start dropping, could they drop too quickly?
No you don't have to be cautious starting a carnivore diet, just be aware that for many people you are requirement for a blood pressure medications may go down, so if you start getting light-headed, especially when you stand up from sitting, check your blood pressure and if you're getting lower readings then talk to your doctor about coming down off your blood pressure medication. No it shouldn't drop dramatically quickly, but if there's any issue just talk to your doctor if you're unsure
All animals are optimal, imo. The key here is how the animal is raised. What was their life like? What did they eat? What medical program were they on? etc. Goats are usually given ungodly amounts of chemicals because they've become very resistant to the anti-parasitic drugs. Not to rag on the farmers who raise our food, but there is a tendency to just stick the animals with excessive amounts of these chemicals and let them eat everything to the bare ground. You will eat the nutrients that the animals has eaten. So if the animal (be it cow, pork, chicken, lamb, goat, rabbit, etc) is raised on a multicrop pasture and given time to run, and then be slaughtered in quick, sanitary conditions, then I think you will benefit more than done otherwise.
Haha thank you! It didn't end too well though, not be able to walk for 5 months, and then a very long recovery after that, but it seemed like the right thing to do at the time anyway.
Fair play buddy. That is proper commitment 👏🏼 You're a fantastic role model in all aspects. Im 5 weeks into Carnivore and it has literally changed my life forever. Your amazing knowledge gave me the confidence to try it and i cannot thank you enough. Thank you so so much for everything you do and for all the lives you're changing 👏🏼💪🏻🥩
Dr Mercola says that low carb drives up cortisol, in the long run and causes a ton of problems! Dr Gundry says polyphenols, low oxalate! I am so confused and to ill to sit here for 2 hours. Carnivore seems like it is for those allergic to all kinds of foods..Mikala Peterson's mom, said she showed a food sensitively, to almost every food on the test.
I want to get the screws out of my ankle. It's hard to find a Dr. How do you get that done? I've had them for over 25 years. It causes pain all the time.
Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet.Sorry fo i alredy posted before but i dont know what to do : I am now over 135 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else 400-500 g of cocked meat plus 7-8 eggs in a day. All Divided in 2 meals) I am now 35 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-22%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.(lift weigths to help sustain or increase muscle mass and assist fat loss) I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition. I was a HEALHTY guy with NO chronic illnesses or health problems. I lost about 17 lbs in the first 6 weeks (Mostly water) but since then I haven't been able to change my body composition. I have now gone more than 6 weeks without registering any body changes (weight loss, decrease in BF% or measurements). In fact i have gained 2,5 lbs in the last 3 weeks but might be just water. I still need to lose at least another 15lbs of fat to reach my goal of being below 15%BF. However, I don't see how the Carnivora Diet will facilitate this process. I have not experienced most of the benefits common to Carnivores (Improved sleep, more energy/disposition, etc.) nor can I change my body composition. So I would like to ask more experienced Carnivores: 1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnviroa diet to be able to lose the excess bodyfat I still have?(at least 15lbs of fat) 2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you? 3-Is the Carnivore diet effective for those who are aldreay healthy and just need to improve body composition? I am affraid this way of eating is too restrictive, for a healthy person, with no aditional benefit from any other whole food diet. PS: Most of my time as a CArnivre i have not experience most Carnivore benefits or lost any body fat Thank you for your attention!
Possibly cut out the eggs and increase the red meat and go “lion”. See if that makes a difference. Assuming you’re just using salt and no seasonings or oils, of course. Maybe stop focusing on portioning your meals and just eat when you’re hungry and stop when you’re comfortably stuffed and/or the meal stops tasing good. As far as the gym, look into cutting out long state cardio (jogging, cycling, cardio equipment) and simply doing sprints. 🤷🏻♂️ Random thoughts
5.6 is in the normal range, Dr Chaffee and others have pointed out that in carnivore is possible that red blood cells live longer, because they are healthier thus making the ab1c not the absolute best test. But yours is normal.
@@lorenajethmal7381 it's only just barely normal. I've heard other carnivore docs saying it should be no more than 5.0 unless you're eating more protein than your body needs.
@@MrFetitzele it's really debatable...many still say that higher blood sugar is higher blood sugar and causes damage regardless of the source. I think the only exception is blood sugar spikes caused by exercise.
@lynnecobb9399 you don't have higher blood sugar, you have higher a1c. I heard dr Berry mentioning exactly this about the life of the red blood cells and a1c.
As far as sleep Dr Berry just talked about waking up during the night is Primal and nothing unhealthy about it. He believes it’s how hunter gatherers slept.
I was desperately searching for migraine treatment through diet and started noticing an improvement on Keto. Watched Mikhaila Peterson about the lion diet and thought I couldn't go that extreme but was willing to try Carnivore... and it's working, I haven't had a migraine since mid-February! I am also noticing other things, my energy is through the roof, and oddly starting to see a little better, nothing drastic but an improvement nonetheless... However I have a question, I had massive clots in my lungs and a leg a year after COVID hit Western Australia and was told I have Factor V Leiden, what would you expect the effect this diet will have on this, will I have to check regularly for clots? Or maybe no difference at all?
My wife had terrible migraines that got better on carnivore but still was persistent. She started taking shots of milk with HWC every hour, a long with sodium chloride tabs every 4 hours and her migraines are gone for good now.
Good advice ofcourse, to the husband for his wife healing from Crohn's disease on carnivore diet, to go for the most elementary form of just beef, salt and water. I started carnivore diet almost eight months ago and only recently began to lose weight (I am 61), slowly, but certainly. But I regained my health and strength and also got in better shape to the eye. I needed the first months to adept to carnivore and also to figure out what I thrive on. I don't really like eggs, dairy slowed my metablism and bloated me, and pork just didn't satiate me. I do best on ground beef, ribeyes, occasionally some liver/heart and some fatty fish. I trust my body so much more now, and I just notice what does what. It's a process. It takes time. The only thing I wouldn't let go off was black coffee... I turned to decaffeinated instant coffee and drink it pretty weak, two small cups in the morning, sometimes one in the evening. Maybe that would work for you too? Anyhow, trust the process, trust the carnivore diet healing power, and just hang in there!
Thanks for sharing your experience @SamarArons because my weight is stalled -6 months on carnivore. But I am not worried, since i only have 10 pounds left i want to lose for my petite size. I am 63 yrs old , yes and i am keeping my coffee !
I have been on a mostly meat diet. Feels great and look good in my 50s. Wanna try carnivore but my woman is against it. She is one of those we have to have veggies kind of people. I would just eat only meat when I am not around her😅 to make it up.
Hello, i started the diet 1 week ago, I was wondering if I can drink Pepsi max? Its no carbs or sugar, does it ruin anything ay all? (Im not trying to lose weight)
My mum is cutting out grains and suger ,oils but her doctor said don't have to much protein like red meat as she got protein in her urine, so what can I tell my mum any advice please😊🍖
I’ve been on carnivore for 5 days and I’m having very small chunks of poop! I used to poop 3-4 times a day! It feels like I have poop stuck anything to help?
Make sure you eat the fat, fat increases bile production and bile makes things moving. You provably will need adaption time, it took me 6 weeks to make normal looking poop, now they are perfect besides better than ever with consistency.
I don't poop much either bcus humans have very long small intestine which absorbs all the meat so there is no waste. You poop a lot when you eat fiber bcus your body isn't designed to absorb fiber so it dumps it out of the body. It may take some time for your digestive system to adapt and dump out all the old plant bacteria and toxins.
In case you are considering it, please feel free to put stuff behind a pay wall. I CANNOT watch the volume of content you put out weekly and it breaks my heart to delete multiple of your videos weekly. I have even thought of un-following you over it. No one likes to feel like they leave things un-done and would rather not see something rather than feel like they are failing.
Missed your live session. I wonder if someone can go carnivore having had their gall bladder removed? I was talking to a friend who has no gall bladder and she was saying she couldn't tolerate much fat now. She also has IBS. What would you say to her? ❤
Would the carnivore diet improve diverticulitis? I tried doing some research and keep getting mixed information that it can help but more so that it worsens or can even cause it?
It will help you a lot. I had it and ibs, and carnivore took care of everything. Fiber is what keeps irritating the bowels, after I learned that carnivore is a low residue diet, meaning that the body absorbs almost all that you eat and I realized the bowels rest more. Been carnivore for 9 months and thriving, won't be looking back.
Could someone please clarify, I understand the role of insulin whereby it signals to cells to uptake glucose in order to lower the blood glucose level. But is there another side of this equation ? I want to understand the other side of this ..... ie low blood sugar. What are other roles of insulin ? Are there? Does the body need insulin for cells to uptake glucose at all, will they starve without it? What happens to a diabetic with low blood sugar if they don't eat, how low will the blood sugar go if they don't eat ? Is this dangerous? How can it be dangerous or even possible if the body manufacturers sugars through a separate biological pathway ie gluconeogenisis ? What about a body that is fat adapted to run on keytones. I have tried to research this but everything that comes up is from the standard carb based medical viewpoint and doesn't make any sense. Thx
There are a few cells in the body that cannot use ketones and must have glucose. But it's a very small amount. Your liver can make all the glucose your body requires without you having to eat any. In addition, if you let your body control how much glucose is in your blood, it will only make as much as it needs.
@@lynnecobb9399 So theoretically then if the body makes glucose in precisely the right amounts....and I believe that is the case. Then a fat adapted type 1 diabetic that is on strict carnivore should have no need for insulin. *The carnivore diet itself would ensure that there would not be any high glucose spikes requiring insulin to lower. ***And for the low glucose condition,The body would step in to keep the levels from getting too low. It sounds like even type1 diabeties could be fully controlled by diet, Am I missing something ?
@@terrysobkowich2084 not sure about type 1 diabetics who make no insulin at all, so they would still need a minimal amount of insulin to get the glucose their liver makes into the cell where it's needed. I do seem to remember that before insulin, type 1 diabetics were definitely treated with a high fat, carb free diet.
Based on what? If she's going by scientific studies, you'd have to look at the type of study. Most nutritional studies are done by having subjects fill out a food inventory every twice a year. Highly subjective and inaccurate.
After 30 days on 95% compliant Carnivore suddenly I can't drink full strength coffee - got the shakes lol. So Decaf for now. Sure things will continue to change but I'm fine not to have full strength coffee, only ever had a max of one a day so no great loss.
I noticed other doctors now have a certification with: "this is a US certified doctor" or something. But they of course practise traditional medicine. Never seen the same on a low carb doc's channel. Propaganda...
Anton, a lot of us have issues with chicken and some pork (depending on what it was fed) due to the higher Omega 6. Neither are ruminant animals also, so you might just be better off!
I have noticed a trend that carnivores are nice demeanored people ... while the vegans influences are fairly nasty in tone. Not trying to be mean/biased ... I have just seen it repeatedly. And it never ceases to bother me. It's ironic given that vegans are supposed to be the bleeding heart save the critter types.
@MrDutto Obviously I know it does, but isn't it the lesion on the arterial wall that first occurs then the saturated fat becomes a bandage to the lesion? So high saturated fat is not a problem unless something else comes along and creates a lesion. So because of this we need to reduce saturated fats makes no sense.

Dr Chaffee , going low carb has lowered my blood pressure among other benefits . Thank you very much for all do!! 😃
I 💖Dr Chaffee calling out all the BS out there! Thank God we have you…🙏
Thank you, Anthony. Saw you on the cover of the magazine in WinCo. Glad for your success! But hopefully, carnivore will not go the way of google.
About B12 supplements, to whom it may concern, and below that a tip about supplementing stomach acid:
Regular medicine for elderly and also people with B12 deficiency is giving intramuscular injections with hydroxocobalamin (cobalamin is B12).
Other tip you may value:
I use 1 capsule of Betaine Hcl 648 mg (Hcl is hydrochloric acid or stomach acid) per serving of 300-500 grams of meat to help me digest.
All the dairy was also an issue for me. I feel much better now not eating any dairy. I never realized how addicted to it I was.😅
Hi Anthony I love your talk s
I’m not full carnivore but the more meat I eat the better I feel.
When I first heard you I could not believe what you said now I think you are amazing
Thank you so much
I stopped coffee foe a week and my triglycerides halved almost. From 2.0 to 1.33 mmol/L
@WIlleH1 how were you drinking your coffee? Black?
But never felt better..
love ya Dr.. Joy and happiness forever ❤
It took me almost 3 weeks after that coffee 'experiment' to just start to feel relief again.
interesting and thank you
I noticed the decline in inflammation in my hands only a day or two after I cut sugar, gluten and plant matter.
My dad is diabetic, high blood pressure and only one kidney and the doctor told us that the meat/ protein is not good for kidney because can "become" kidney stone 🤷🏻♀️ Thank you very much 🙌💜
Thank you so much for sharing such life giving information ,subbed right away ❤
Thanks for the varicose question. I still get achy veins in my legs after six pregnancies and I've noticed they're at their worst when I consume a lot of carbs and before my period. Even with keto they tire more easily than on carnivore.
Hi Dr Chaffee. Protein is 4 kcal per g, not 3. The same for carbohydrates. It might be alcohol which is 3 kcal per gramme?
@@anthonychaffeemd thanks for clarifying ☺️
Going Carnivore will lower your blood pressure quickly, so monitor it more regularly, so it doesnt go too low, while your on blood pressure medicine.
I will not be defeated. Bring that 5 days bear back Dr. Chaffee!
Thank you for another great video.
it's too bad these people who mislead or lie in these studies are not held accountable.

For tryptophan levels. Check a resource like cronometer or something else.

Are we supposed to take vitamins and minerals while on carnivore? Do you Dr ?
Dr Mercola says that low carb drives up cortisol, in the long run and causes a ton of problems! Dr Gundry says polyphenols, low oxalate! I am so confused and to ill to sit here for 2 hours. Carnivore seems like it is for those allergic to all kinds of foods..Mikala Peterson's mom, said she showed a food sensitively, to almost every food on the test.
I want to get the screws out of my ankle. It's hard to find a Dr. How do you get that done? I've had them for over 25 years. It causes pain all the time.
Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet.Sorry fo i alredy posted before but i dont know what to do :
I am now over 135 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else 400-500 g of cocked meat plus 7-8 eggs in a day. All Divided in 2 meals) I am now 35 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-22%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.(lift weigths to help sustain or increase muscle mass and assist fat loss)
I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition.
So I would like to ask more experienced Carnivores:
1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnviroa diet to be able to lose the excess bodyfat I still have?(at least 15lbs of fat)
2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you?
3-Is the Carnivore diet effective for those who are aldreay healthy and just need to improve body composition?
I am affraid this way of eating is too restrictive, for a healthy person, with no aditional benefit from any other whole food diet.
PS: Most of my time as a CArnivre i have not experience most Carnivore benefits or lost any body fat
Thank you for your attention!

Been carnivore for 7 years. Fasting insulin 4.7 hba1c 5.6.
Why is my hba1c so high? A professional is telling it's because I eat too much protein.
Your red cells live longer , so I heard , is normal

I’ve been on carnivore for 5 days and I’m having very small chunks of poop! I used to poop 3-4 times a day! It feels like I have poop stuck anything to help?
Your body is using more of the food you’re eating now, hence the small poops. I wouldn’t worry, it all works out in the “end.”
