I know the struggle and intimidation of first being introduced to scleral lenses. I knew there had to be an easier way to live with scleral. The vision was the best but not the routine. I put in countless days trying things out and I’ve finally figured out what has been working for me and now living with scleral is now another think-less routine like driving and I want to share this with you.
The scleral lens is a special contact lens that is most often prescribed to patients with keratoconus or highly sensitive eyes. These rigid gas permeable contacts have a very wide diameter that extends completely over the corneal surface, making them comfortable and effective for people with irregular corneas. In the beginning, many of us find it difficult to insert and remove these contact lenses with scalar lenses. However, If you watch my video, you will realize how easy it is.

Can you provide a step-by-step process for what you do right after you take your scleral lenses out of your eyes? I just got mine and want to ensure that I care for them. Thank you so much!
Finished my fitting for scleral lenses. Your videos helped me so much. Thank you 😊
You’re the MAN! Thanks.
Just got fitted with scleral lenses. Your videos have been a great help. Thank you.
Thank you this video! I got given some solutions and drops with my lenses in and showed the door and this vid has helped me to understand what each thing is for. I got home and didn’t know where to start.
thanks to your videos my change from hard contact lenses to scleral was very easy thank you bro 😎
Thank you! This was pretty through about the products needed and why. I’m new to scleral lenses and really needed this.
No problem glad it helped :)
Again, I say, THANK YOU!!, for another EXCELLENT informative video.
No problem. I’m glad the videos were informative for you. Much love.
Thank you so much for this!! So helpful!
Of course my pleasure.
Thank you Jacob great info
Thanks
As usual, great tips. I follow almost your whole routine. With using the pink vials, I add a drop of Ivizia or Refresh Celluvisc preservative-free drops to the solution for extra comfort.
I also use Clear Care with HydraGlide every four days. I made the fatal mistake of accidentally getting some of it in my eye & it caused a corneal burn. It was not fun. Please make sure you let the contacts soak for the entire six hours
Again, thanks you very much . It was very useful for me. I am a new in this area
Welcome to the club! I'm sure you'll get the ropes soon.
Thanks for the video man .
You bet! Thanks for watching
Thanks dude for putting up great stuffs
Welcome glad it helped.
Thanks for this … appreciate it
My pleasure!
Omg Thanks for this amazon video, I didn’t know about the water substitute, and I feels like Yes they need any kind of water. Thanks
No problem 😉 glad you liked the video
Great content brotha, thanks for helping us newbies! LoL
Glad it helped out!
Again…great stuff. I have my two-week follows up for new lens next week and one of the things I wanted to ask my doc was about drops for dryness during the day WITH lens in. I noticed Blink *specifically* says “for contacts”. Thanks for turning me on to this product.
Glad it was helpful! Much love 😁
So can u use blink eye drops when u have your sceral lens in ?
Thanks so much!! 😁
No problem!
The question I have and hopefully someone can answer been always wondering this but after using a cleaning solution and leaving them over night do I rinse them after with saline solution or do I just put saline on the scleral and insert it.
I put mine in the clear care every night. Not sure if it’s bad for the hydra PEG coating
Ily tx man
❤️
What’s a good insertion solution bro like where I can get at the pharmacy in case of an emergency.
What do you think of purilens?
Hello, do these lens really work for dry eyes? And if they do they take away the burning sensation and irritation. Thank you!
Hey, brother! Great video. How is your night vision while wearing these? I have just started wearing these and my vision around lights are blurr even with the lenses on. I think they call it astigmatism. LOL. Keep up the good work! Thanks
Yeah it's called astigmatism lol I would just say to get a proper fit but lights suck for us KC patients.
@@JacobGagoOfficial Is your night vision good?
My doctor told me in order to use clearcare I have to get a PROSE CASE because the case that comes with Clearcare is too small for scleral lens but I keep seeing everyone who the case it came with. I’m spending so much because of Keratoconus and these lenses I really don’t want to shell out for a pricey and bigger case/basket 😭😭😭
Hey I’m new in this scleral lender journey so I would wanna know did you ever get the foggy lenses like mid day ? And if so how did you fix it ?
Yes mine does get foggy after few hours, so before inserting saline I add 2 drops of celluvisc, or systane hydration drops, after that saline,it will help in reducing it for 8- 9 hours
U rock
Appreciate you
Can you deep clean Hydra PEG ?
Hi, what's Ur refraction at this time ? Did u consider having PRK procedure ?
I honestly forgot. I'm seeing the dr next week to see what changes occurred. I have thought about PRK, doing research still but want more time to pass to see how people react to it.
How did you find a Clear Care kit that will fit the large Scleral contact lenses?
Hi, thank you for your help and time i am new and i don't know how to clean the contact lenses case can you help please and thank you again
Yes going to make a short video on this soon. But until then you want to use the saline solution I mentioned in this video to clean the contact case.
Can you use that saline solution to rinse off the Boston Simplus cleaning solution? And is the saline preservative free?
I talk about it at 1:21 - Saline Solution #2 (Water Replacement). The bottle I use isn't but they sell preservative free ones online.
Hello
Want to ask you if you tried the ultrasonic contact lenses cleaner??? And what is the best solution or cleaner for it??
I have not tired it. Working on a new video soon.
After using scleral lenses does keratoconus get worse and does scleral has some power like -2 or -3.5
I’d love to get an update (if you have any) for your current KC care.
Yes I'm working on it.
Oops, last question😅
Doctor also told me to use purilens, which is preservative free, for inserting my contacts
Is this basically just boujee version of the little NaCl vials you got?
I have some of those .9% NaCl vials and they work beautifully! So i don’t get why my doctor doesn’t offer his patients the cheaper route…
I’m not too knowledgeable about the types of saline solutions but I would suggest using the one I use since my eye dr recommended it. I also do know preservative free ones most people are comfortable with it. I haven’t had any issues even when I was using tap water (before knowing not to do it).
What about “Tangible Clean” ?? Any thoughts on that one?
Quite honestly I haven’t used their product. Have you?
Can you use Clare Care for a wetting? And can you use Blink for wetting? Thanks
Clear care is for cleaning only and blink is for wetting
I have a question?
Can you use bausch + Lomb saline for insertion as well?
The B+L is used more for cleaning and it’s not saline. The cleaning solutions are thick whereas the saline is more thin with sodium (like your own tears)
hey shawty, for the zatidor : can we put that while we have contacts on?
Yes you can. I do it all the time.
I can't use allergey drops because of the antihistamine so I dont know what works best but I know theres a drop called alaway they have a preservative free drop now I think the only one out there right now . just letting you know since preservatives in any drop over time can cause cell death in the eye
I believe you're referring to the Zaditor correct?
@@JacobGagoOfficial yes sorry forgot to mention which one exactly
I seen you had Holcomb C-3R done with dr Brian .did you kc get stable ?im looking into going to him if I keep progressing.I’m using scleral lenses right now but I want to get stable
Nice where did you see I did Holcomb with Brain? And yes my eyes have been stable for years now. I'm more than glad I did the surgery. I just wish I did it much earlier.
@@JacobGagoOfficial look up Holcomb C3r you come out as a testimonial
@@JacobGagoOfficial ua-cam.com/video/NrYowDKaLss/v-deo.html
Which surgery you opted for ?
What solution do you put them in overnight on a daily basis. My brother uses aquaclear and it out so im looking for an alternative?
The Boston with the blue tip one. I mentioned it in the video.
What about for red eyes?
Can we you know 🍃 with our contacts on?
Thank you 🙏 all your information was really helpful.
Also can you show us how to use the eye drops please for whenever we feel like we see cloudy or we think our eyes are dry. You’re awesome man
Wait also where can I get the plunger and remover replacements
Hey, for red eyes I will opt for the blink solutions with the contacts on. With the contacts off I have an idea of a good one but I don't want to recommend it yet without asking my Dr since I don't get red eyes often.
In terms of when to use I answered that in the video. For cloudy I prefer the blink Cleans and Conditions (the white one not the green).
@@daniieel.9623 1. Plunger amzn.to/3orlKqy
2. Inserter amzn.to/3Ldo12s
This may sound like a dumb question, but I’m new to the sclera contact lenses. Do you use the blink eye drops while the contacts are in?
No dumb questions. But yes I do. It's made for our contacts.
I have 4 years experience wearing scleral lense the best one and make comfort for your eyes and it last long 20 hours you can used BIOTRUE
Thanks for sharing. Maybe I can ask my Dr If I can use it.
you use biotrue for filling scleral lens??
@@Sureshkumar-mb1xf Yes
@@faisalyounus8906 can you share the product link
Can you use the saline solution to fill the contacts before insertion
If I understand you correctly. That’s what your supposed to do.
I have had my contacts for about 7 months and the salotion seems to make the lens foggy do you have any suggestions ?
Yeah buy the green solution I mentioned in this video it should help with that.
@@JacobGagoOfficial green solution?
And for those of us with sensitive eyes, instead of the 0.9%saline, you can try the Pro-saline from a company called Silver line. Personally, the 0.9%saline burns my eyes
where were you getting the 0.9% from?
Hi, I have the same problem. Where can I buy it? I can't find it online. I'm in USA... Thanks!
@@rany2683 I import from India a company called Silver line laboratories owned by Dr. Gagan Sahni
Also my doctor recommended me me to use the clean and clear and only the clean and clear, which sounded a bit odd after watching others describe it as a “deep clean”
Do you know if there’s any downfall about doing this every day?
Did more research: clean and clear PLUS has the hydroglyde bullshit
For some people, such as me, it leaves little spot residues on it the lens and it might cause irritation
For a long time, i thought this was me just having hella white blood cells or being hella dirty 😐
If this happens to anyone else, get the clean and clear WITHOUT THE HYDRAGLYDE
Not sure I understand this question quite honestly
My doctor told me to
A, not use bosch lomb because sclaerals aren’t Gas permeable
B) to use the clean and clear hydrogen peroxide every night to clean
With that said, i was asking if cleaning with hydrogen peroxide every day is bad
@@wigglemyjimmy3087 maybe Dr’s have a different way of doing things but the whole Kaiser vision essentials used the solution to clean. I’ve been on these since 2014 and no issues. As for B I switch it with the hydrogen and solution.
Thanks for the video but I’m confused. The first product is disposable saline solution and the next product is saline solution ? Why can I not insert my contact with the second product if they’re both saline solution?
The first one is preservative free. You don't want the chemical preservatives trapped under the lens right next to your cornea all day, so the smaller preservative free ones exist. They won't last once they are opened because they have no preservatives, which is why they come in the small little vials.
My eyes are sensitive when i watch tv and when i drive or go outside do i have to get used to the brightness
You might just have an astigmatism. They’re are corrective lenses to help with this.
At the beginning you used them did you feel the edges of the lens ?
What are you referring too when you say "used them"?
@@JacobGagoOfficial i mean on the beginning when you got them for the first time when you put them in you had to adjust the first few weeks because you feeled the edges ?
Why did i see a video of a doctor saying not to use hydraglyde clean & clear since it leaves a coat on the lens and also not to use if i have hydra peg lenses. I have no idea if my lenses are hydra peg smh. Idk why the doctor didnt go over this with me.
Tbh many Dr's go off what they think. Luckily for me I have 2 Dr.'s that actually care and study hard to learn what to do and not to do. I run every information by them and this has been my method. I haven't had a single problem in 5+ years. I think by now I can trust them.
How many continuous hours do you wear your sclerals for per day? Thank you
till I’m done with my day. I don’t pay attention to how long to wear it.
@@JacobGagoOfficial do you ride bike with these lens on??
Does anyone use the cleaning solution two days in a row? Stuff is 20 bucks a bottle twice a month and I want to stretch it.
I’ve switched to only using the hydro solution for cleaning.
Do you have corneal injury?
No
dr. I'm from kerala india😭... I'm a keratoconus patient 🥺🥺🥺.... please help me😭😭😭😭😭......after c3r surgery i feel progressing vision blurring what can i do😭😭😭😭😭😭sirrrrrr please help 😭.....'d Can a person with keratoconus lose their eyesight again after doing C3R?
There is a possibility, but the chances are very small. Make sure to talk to you eye dr and have them compare the results before and after the c3r if there is progression. Hope this helps.
Sir I went to the doctor two days ago for checkup. C3R was done in both eyes. It's been six months since right eye and three months since left eye.......
....
When I went there and got my eyes checked, they said that the vision is fine, but I feel that there is a lot of difference between the vision in the left eye and the vision in the right eye.
...
My corrent vision is
Right eye bcva 6/15
Left eye 6/6
.....
The vision of the right eye worsened. But there is concern that the left eye will be like the right eye. Because I'm a 21 year old boy......
....
I am worried that I will lose all my future. Very sad🥺
THANK YOU 🙏
