    One of the main differences between daily contacts and monthly contacts is the cost. Dailies tend to be a little more expensive than monthly lenses. But, there are many more things to consider when deciding which may be more beneficial to you: comfort, dry eyes, which is easier to get use to, best one to start with? All of these are discussed in this video so you can decide if monthly contact lenses are best for you, or if soft daily contact lenses would be the better option.

      Glad to hear they are working for you. Remember, your success doesn't have anything to do with them being daily use lenses. If you find that the daily use lenses are too expensive, ask your doctor if there is a 2-week or monthly version made of the same material and design. Many are like this.

    I use dailies and in my case, a package lasts for a couple months. I only use glasses for driving because I have very little rx -0.5 in one eye and -0.25 and -0.75 40º (in contacts rx, i don’t remember the full rx). But for special ocasions when I don’t wanna take the glasses in the case with me, I use contacts and I enjoy 4k vision for the day. Also if I am spending the full day outside because of the UV protection.

    Obviously in watching this, I've been considering contact lenses. Imo monthly seems to be the best way to go if you easily adjust to an added daily routine. Monthly lenses with a solid pair of reliable glasses seems ideal for me. Im also surprised no one has invented a tool to make taking them out easier. Maybe a small tube with a pump on the bottom that suctions the lense out. The folding out looked so uncomfortable.

    In my opinion, the thick/thin pro/con thing is irrelevenat . Both wearing schedules have plenty of choices of thickness. Also, again, in my opinion, the comfort of a lens has almost nothing to do with thickness. One of the primary aspects of comfort is the interaction of the edge profile of the lens with the lid. The edge profile does not directly have anything to do with thickness, though, contrary to what would seem to be a correlation. Most younger docs weren't taught or have experience with edge profiles. There are quite a few studies though dating back to the 90's. It is also important to note that if fit with a daily use lens, it is important to fit with a silicone hydrogel lens rather than a HEMA lens. There are still plenty of daily lenses that are not SiHy. Why would one want to use a lens that cuts down on oxygen to the eye when they have the choice not to?

    I’ve been using Air optix monthly’s for about 5 years now.
    I usually pop them in and don’t touch again for 30 days.
    I sleep with them every night.
    Only issue I ever have, if I overwear the lens (40+ days) in the morning my eyes will feel irritated. I just add some drops of contact solution to my eyes and I’m good for the rest of the day.
    Not trying to recommend it. Just trying to be honest about my experience.

      Thanks for sharing. One thing to consider, I have found when doing eye exams on some patients that sleep in lenses for over a month, I notice they have a harder time getting the correct prescription. They are slower to respond, and vision doesn't seem as clear. Then I see them after they take a break from contact lens wear, and their vision is amazing, much faster picking the prescription. Not saying that is happening with your, that's just something I have observed over the years.

    I'm 39 years old. I've been wearing soft contact lenses since I was 13..
    I currently wear monthly contact lenses that are night and day. I sleep in them for a week. Take them out, clean them, and then put them back in. And never had any problems.
    That's my experience.
    Maybe once a month or so I will take them out and wear my glasses for about a week just to give my eyes a break.

    • @anavitoria8705
      @anavitoria8705 3 місяці тому

      and during the week that you rest your eyes with your glasses, how many days do the contact lenses stay in the solution? Do you change the solution every day?

    • @BlueSkyPilot.
      @BlueSkyPilot. 3 місяці тому

      @anavitoria8705
      No, I do not change the solution everyday it's not necessary. However, there is a special peroxide type of solution that I use.
      I get it from walmart it's called Clear Care plus with three percent hydrogen peroxide.
      It cleans the lenses very well, and most importantly, it rehydrates the lens.
      You do have to let them soak for at least 6 hours, so the P. H level will return to normal. Sometimes, I won't even bother going a full week. I'll just go for a few days. Then I just put them back in. I use Bio True Multi-purpose solution to clean the lens off after taking them out of the BioTrue before putting them back in.
      But I want to make sure I mention it. They are called night and day contact lenses. There is a big difference.
      You wouldn't want to wear traditional lenses through the night like that.
      I know because I did when I was a teenager. And I shouldn't have, and I ended up with a tiny little microscopic ulcer on my eye, and it hurt badly.
      But after a little care, it healed and went away. And i've had no problems with the nightingale contacts.
      Ever!
      But as long as you can stick to that routine. For the most part, you should be fine.
      Now i'm not a doctor. That's just my experience.
      In fact, you really need some self-discipline. Because with these types of lenses , it's easy to go over a month and forget to even take them out.
      At some point or another , the lens will get too dry, and it will bother your eyes.
      This is also one reason why I will let them soak for a week because they get rehydrated. And will feel much better.

    Honestly my kid hated the daily’s. They burned her eyes and stuff. The monthly so far she likes better bc she’s able to do it herself without them folding on her finger so much. But they were also half the price. $1100 to $500. The daily every day we had problems with them burning her eyes. But with the monthly we did have one fall out.
    Idk what to do. She has myopia and I like the daily’s better but can’t afford them, she likes the monthly’s better. And I don’t want make her eyes worse. Trying to make them better
    Like myopia ones were so thin she could not get them in. They didn’t keep the shape enough. And just so much getting them in
    And my ins only covers $150 on contacts 😂 for 500-1100 dollars

      @@Benjamin-hq4em do all the wrong things he mentioned in the video and it may eventually cause some level of dry eye that make it uncomfortable to wear contacts. In uni I would wear them all day, then go out half the night and sleep some hours with them in, and with the long lasting contacts they can get debris in them which cause you to rub eyes too much. If I knew what I knew now I would have worn glasses to uni and only wear the contacts for some hours later, and then switch again to glasses later on (I was afraid of what people would think I look like in glasses).

      @@quidnunc01 Wow i actualy have a very similar story i was also scared of wearing glasses in school and even in my house because i got insecure so all day like 6 in the morning to 11 at night i would wear contacts and i also got itchy eyes and would rub at school and then i got a little abnormal blinking were one eye would blink normally and the other eye would not i think it was from my anxiety at school. Then out of nowere my eyes started getting watery and every time i got up my eyes would water but not get dry then i started wearing glasses only when summer started for a few months and most of the problems went away i now take a few supplements like vitamjn a,d,c and 6000mg of omega 3 which helps a ton and i now only ocassionaly in the day get watery dry eyes but its not really dry more watery. But yeah i think its also the screens if you have dry eyes you gotta stop looking at the screens all day long casuse it really males it 10 times worse.
